Touchwiz LP1, LP5, LP6 in Tablet mode - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is it about these TOuchwiz ICS ROMs that doesn't allow Tablet mode like the AOSP does?

Does Touchwiz even have tablet UI ? Cause from what i've seen in Galaxy Tab etc. they just use stock android launchers etc.
So correct me if im wrong, but i think that touchwiz simply does not include a tablet ui.

If you change a touchwiz ICS rom to 213dpi and reboot it boots into tablet mode.
The problem is the onscreen ICS buttons are missing and most apps FC which leads me to believe it's a resource issue.
Wish the Gtab 8.9, and 10 had an official touchwiz based release of ICS so we could possibly use some of the resources from that to resolve the issues our builds of ICS have in tablet mode...

You're correct to assume it's a resource issue. The TouchWiz found on handsets and TouchWiz UX for tablets are very different. Hopefully, the ICS version of TouchWiz UX for tablets will help to blur the line between tablet and handset; but we're stuck for now.

Doesn't the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" have ICS + touchwizz ? Couldn't we just take touchwiz from there and put it on a SGN + official ICS now that's it out ?

I think still wait for 2 month... when ICS for table release..

I don't believe it's a good idea to use TW in tablet mode. You better try Apex or Nova. Though whichever launcher you use, make sure not to go lower than 200 PPI because it crashes big time.

Its not just the launcher. With tw roms its the framework that can't handle it.

[Q] Launcher With No App Drawer?

I love the simplicity of having no app drawer and integrated folders with the MIUI rom, but now that we have more gingerbread (thanks developers), I wanna try some other roms. I always lose apps in the app drawer and I know it bloats up my phone. If possible, is there any way to install the MIUI launcher in another rom (or just remove the app drawer from another launcher)? Or is it too deeply integrated to simply install the same way as something like launcher pro? I don't care about the ability to theme or whatever, I just want an app-drawer-free launcher.
Bump!
Isn't there any good launcher for CM7 without an app drawer? I find it annoying to the extreme like the MIUI launcher or ifone *blasphemy*

Here's a dark horse - "Simple Home" from LG!
I couldn't believe it myself...
After months of loving MIUI, and hating the drawer again after upgrading to Evervolv 4.1.2, I found Simple Home, a iOS-like drawer-less app launcher developed by LG, with an install footprint of only 2-3 Mb (versus MIHome's 20Mb payload).
LG? Really?!?!?

I would also love all apps on the homescreen and am stuck with miui at present because the LG simple home is not suitable for WVGA galaxy s2

Why are the ROMs so damn big?

Ok, this is a serious question guys.
I am coming from a HTC Inspire 4G, where a full ROM was under a hundred meg, why is it even with almost everything removed, ROMs for my beloved Note are over 300meg..?
Look forward to everyones answers!!
Cheers
FYI your Inspire's stock Sense ROM is over 350MB. Sense and TouchWiz are big ROMs with added features and so on. The ROMs under 100MB is CM7 and MIUI. Since we don't have these for the Note yet, we'll have to settle with TouchWiz ROMs for the time being.

I install Zeam straight away once I install a ROM, what are the features that TouchWiz offers?! I doubt I use any of them lol.
Totally forgot Inspire was sense I installed a clean ASOP rom as soon as I got it.
Probably been answered a hundreds time around here but I can't find anything for SGN, how do i build my own ROM a guide would be awesome, I'd really love to throw together an ASOP inspired ROM and try and get the size down and speed up!

They're not just the UI, it's also the apps.
Android itself doesn't support S-Pen in 2.3, so that's Samsung.
The calendar app - samsung
widgets - samsung
custom apps and UI (like rubberbanding effects, custom font setting, etc)
There are a lot of under the hood things that has been changed. Touchwiz is something essential for ANY ROM and it takes A LOT of work to remove it. I mean A LOT. Samsung designed it to be run with Touchwiz, so any dev. has to work a lot to get everything working fine without any touchwiz and that's a lot of work.
And the numbers of pixels of Note is 2.6 times of WVGA. So, all the graphic files for the UI will be larger too.

[Q] ICS/Tablet Touchwiz port for P1000?

Anybody else think it would be cool to have the Touchwiz ported from the newer 7" models to the P1000?
Yes I know there is some people who do not like TW, I personally like both Sammy and stock ICS, but just think it would be cool to get TW ported.
I have seen the modded version of TW4 launcher but have tried and failed to get this working correctly and tbh I think a actual port from proper Tabs would be much better (included widgets).
When I say Touchwiz I dont mean the GB version we had previously on tab, I'm referring to the new TouchWiz UX that is on the newer ICS tabs?

ICS Samsung Galaxy SIII TouchWiz for CM9

Hi guys!
I just want to share my recent alternative launcher for O2X CM9.
It is very smooth compared to Nova or Apex. I bet you'll stick with this!
Here's the thread. You can download flashable zip and check some screenshots there
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667854
Happy theming! hope we will get full ICS support for our O2X soon
Isn't it possible to modify the transition effects and such?
I think lg ui 3.0 is a lot smoother and more customizable actually.

No but by default the transition's already cool.
Yes with a lot of widgets like mine it's a bit sluggish, anyway this is just an alternative. LG UI 3 still has bug on APPS icon
Yeah that bug is present, can't read the apps text, but still it's really fluid
Happy themeing

I think not yet
Will this allow you to install GSIII apps like S-Note and S-Calender if you're on CM9? I ask because, if you're on CM9 without TW you cant.

[Q] Love to have the new 4.3... BUTTT!?

Hey there,
This has probably been answered before. so a simple redirect would be ok.
I love the stock look of the N7000 (menu buttons and locker) but all of the 4,3 roms have the Nexus menu buttons and app locker suck. I find those horrible to use.
First question... what would it be called (kinda nooby when it comes to launchers and such).... Are they called AOSP or AOKP or something.. or is it completely different.
Are there any roms which look like the stock rom.. but with enhanced features with the new 4.3 features?
Thanks in advance.
Ricky
aosp, aokp, cm, miui are just rom types.
By saying menu buttons you mean the whole look of an interface. You mean You want this stock 4.1.2 samsung blue stuff?
Because if this is what You want you may want to download samsung theme for cm from the google play.

That makes sense,
Just hate the look of the nexus/whole tablet interface of the rom new roms..
Just stuck with the updated version of LiveNote 5.2.
What are you rocking?

I'm using PA myself and it allows for nice customization when it comes to looks. Have you tried that? There are also a few fun launchers that might solve your cosmetic issue. Is it mostly the new DPI settings you're having trouble with? Or just the general art style of Android?

I haven't tried PA yet. Next on the list.
I am looking for a stock icons/colour scheme, the apps logo not to look like the nexus variation of droid. Just me being an oldschool stock visuals.

I'm currently running Lungo ROM (android 4.0.4) because it's light.
If You are searching for more functions use PA, or the best "Jellybam".
That's the best ROM ever, but it uses a LOOOOT of memory.
