Has anyone found a functional wireless tethering method? Or do any of the roms listed in the development section have tethering enabeled? Ive tried wifi tether several different versions with every setting combination and cant get it to work. Shows devices connected but no internet connection

Google's WiFi Tether app is a must-get:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
Set the Device Profile in settings to LG Optimus S
I leave my Setup Method as 'Auto' and have no problems tethering a number of devices. Many people choose to set theirs to Softap. IMO I've seen no difference between the two so try both and choose which one you think works best for you.
Thanks joey but ive tried that setup and it will show connected but no actual internet. The main device im trying to connect is a wii.

I don't have a wii to test, but I've used the tether for rooted users to connect my computer and Kindle Fire with no issues whatsoever.

My Wireless Tether app was doing that same thing. I think Verizon does something on their end to block it.
You can use "Open Garden" from the Play store. It works. Used it this weekend.

Open garden works well. The only problem i could see was if the Wii doesn't like ad-hoc networks as tje tether apps I have seen are all Ad-hoc

Ill give open garden a try tonight and see if its wii friendly

Wii does not support connecting to an adhoc wireless network. No way to do it, I have tried a million different ways.

I know, doesn't work on the DS either. Sucks but it is what it is.
On the bright side, evo users can now make a full infrastructure network. Arguments to up grade are getting more and more convincing.

Anyone know how to hook up wireless tether?
I hooked up my PS3 and 360 with WiFi tether, its easy too. Just put the console on wireless and scan. Know what you name your phone, I used my name, then select it and put the password in if you made one.(You should so can't no one else use your internet unless you want them too).
Once you get everything set, your phone should alert you that a device is trying to access its signal. Accept it and run a test on the Wii to make sure that you are good.
Hope that helps out.

Yeah I did all that and still getting an error on the wii
Which wireless tether app are you using? And is there anyway to get out of adhoc mode?

If you use the verizon 4g tether you are on infrastructure mode, and can connect to the wii.

My school has a firewall I connect to there wifi with my phone is there an app where I can get past the firewall
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
No, but you should be able to set up a vpn to your house, and use that to browse the net.
Sent from my Motorola Atrix using Tapatalk.
I don't know how to do that
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
Yea that'd be nice to know, I hate trying to use the crappy 4g 1 bar reception at my school when there's a perfectly good wifi network there.
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
It isn't a quick reply kinda thing. Google is your friend.
Basically, you set up a VPN server on your home machine, leave it on, and configure your phone to connect to it via your school internet connection. You are tunneling past their connection and firewall. All they see is the connection to home.
I've looked but can't seem to find something maybe I could have Comcast do it
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
No, Comcast can't do it. If you can't set up a VPN, you really don't have the ability to go after firewalls.
Look up open source Virtual Private Network, read, learn, implement, grow.
Or, just deal with the restrictions or your cellular data connection.

I have this issue too but I have a Motorola Photon. I hear that the PSV only accepts non ad-hoc WiFi connections or something like that. If I switch on my Mobile Hotspot that came built into the OS, then the PSV sees that just fine and connects to it but the internet does not work because my carrier does not allow it. So we basically need to use an app that creates a hotspot just like the phone firmware does it seems. Does anyone know of one? My phone is rooted.
I've gotten my phone to teather my old psp 1000 with the Optimus and softap settings on so I'm assuming this will work for the vita too

The Klink app works great with the HTC one for tethering without root.
It does require you to set it up on the computer you're tethering with, and the phone.
Long time lurker and I haven't hit the post requirement for link posting, just search Klink in the play store.
I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, if so please let the post sink and disregard it.
I just purchased based on your opinion..it's Pretty good ..thanks

It appears you can usb tether with sense too, just need to install HTC sync manager and enable usb sync in the phone settings.
I didn't bother installing HTC sync manager, so couldn't confirm yet. But information seems that it'll work.

If this is true I just wasted 5 bucks lol..But best thing about this app is the function of appearing as a mobile device to your carrier

I am glad USB tethering works. I have been using EasyTether on my Moto Photon for about 1.5 years without a single problem. very stable.
It's my first time hearing of Klink.... is it stable?

I like it because of the mimic mode it produces because carriers see it as a mobile device,no complains from my carrier yet lol (supposed illegal tether) :banghead:
