[Q] Problem with A2SD and ICS - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey.
I have a problem with my N1.
I use the Evervolv Rom by Texas. Yesterday I the problem occured that it was impossible for me to install any app from the Market. Everytime I try a message "Not enough space" pops up. When I try to restore an app with Titanium Backup it loads for forever, but TB shows that there is enough ROM, Internal, A2SD storage available.
Then I tried several things like repartionating my SD-Card (using GParted - ext3 1,5 GB), using a different BlackRose hboot. I even tried this CM9 ROM, but the problem stays the same.
Now I have no idea how to solve this problem
Could my SD card be broken?
Greetings
crush41

did you activate the a2sd in terminal?

Yes, but i left the dalvic internal

You should try these:
a2sd install (folowed by "yes" and "yes")
a2sd xdata
It should give you a huge internal space.

Seems to help, but I find it unusual that A2SD did just now, and now despite the fact that i wiped several times it only works with this command.

Now several apps have a force close when i try to start them... i cleaned dalvic cache and cache but it stays..

ask the master himself or wipe everything 3X b4 you install rom if all else fails FLASH another rom if it continues then get a new sd card if that dont help your phone it self might be the problem .... just giving some ideas ....
A2SD and all it's info is here maybe this might help you bro http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715940 HOPE I HELPED IN SOME WAY

Thank you guys... I checked everything and now brought a new SD... looks good so far

[?]Why do my apps re-install by thereselves, after I uninstall and factory reset?

Can anyone please tell me how to fix this?
Depends on what ROM you are using some roms have auto apps2sd. Like I use CyMOD that has it all set for you.
Yeah, my guess is that you're using an Apps2SD ROM that has them stored on the SD card, so as soon as you wipe, they reappear because the wipe doesn't affect the SD card.
Apps2SD will reinstall the apps.
it was on the jf 1.5 adp rom

It's possible, that Market remembers Your phone, and if You had error when installing app, after wipe Market will try to install it one more time (have got one game installing each time I reflash rom, it was funny ).
I don't know how to fix it.
Hi...
That was happening to me.
I has two partition (FAT32 and EXT2) and the applications still save in ext2 side. I just re-format the ext2 partition and that's it!

a2sd makes restarts on froyo

Hi,
I'm trying to make room on my phone cause it's complaining a lot, that it needs more space
Tried to use " Move to SDcard" in the manage applications, abut the phone reboots itself, and ofcourse the app hasn't moved anywhere.
What shall I do?
no one has an answer for that???????
Same thing has been happening to me. It's frustrating to have to delete apps because I'm out of space. I can't wait until CM with A2SD drops.
I used to get reboots whenever trying to move to SD. I couldn't figure out a fix so I backed up with Titanium and wiped and restored. :-/ Probably not what you wanted to hear.
if youre rooted get the RoDrIgUeZsTyLe or leofroyo rom.
Apps2sd via an ext partition works well on FRF83
you can wait for CM6 or do it yourself now.

So I wiped and re-installed the Froyo, it solved the problem...

Installation unsuccessful !! Cyanogen mod

I really can't stand it any more
I am unable to install any app whether from the android market or as an apk file !!
I've tried everything to solve it but nothing's works !
I've tried clearing the catch for the download manager and the market
Tried wipe everything and reinstall the rom but still no luck !!
I am really getting suck of it !!this ruined my android experience entirely
I've searched a lot of android forums but nothing works

More info is needed if you want help. What recovery are you using, what roms have you tried (there are many cyanogen versions so just saying that doesn't help), what radio version, rooted -- if so how, and anything else you can give. If this is the only problem you have you are in the minority.
The best way to know if this is a rom or another issue is to go back to absolute stock and see if the problem persists.
Also attach a logcat so we know exactly what error it gives. Saying something doesn't work when the majority of users have that feature work is an indication of a PEBKAC.
It also could be a SD issue as well. Have you unmounted the SD card and then installed apps from that point? And then remount the SD card afterwards?
And make sure you have enough space for user apps...
Are you using apps2sd with an ext partition? Could be your ext partition that's corrupted.
Repairing it in recovery might help.
Thanks all of you ,,
Android central just published an article talks about this exact problem and their solution works like a charm

I had this problem too, for the longest time. I don't even know how it started. I thought i tried everything to fix it. My final solution was to redo my Apps2SD Dalvik-cache. I am Using Darktremor A2SD.
First I upgraded to Darktremor version 2.7.5.2 (installable zip).
Then via ADB Shell i did a "a2sd nocache" to dump the Dalvik back into the internal storage and remove the Dalvik-Cache to SD flag *Phone Reboots*
Then I did a "a2sd cachesdreset" to turn the Dalvik-Cache to SD flag back on and erase the Dalvik-cache. *another reboot*
Then i did a "su" "fix_permissions" After this, i was able to install everything without error.

Perhaps a brief explanation as to how you solved it could benefit others!!
i thought its forbidden to post links to other sites
any way the aticle is on AndroidCentral.com
and btw it didnt work
now , every time i need to update an app i have to move it first to phone memory
otherwise it will show unsuccessful installation

Thanks for this, I was getting really frustrated trying to fix my android market problem. Wasn't able to install or update any apps, whether on sd or not. I have GRI40 (2.3.3) w/a2sd ext3. Unmounting/remounting sd card wasn't working, clearing market cache + data didn't work, nor did clearing all google apps caches + data + clearing dalvik cache. I tried the above and it worked great (didn't do the fix_permissions part but i did do the "a2sd fixapk" command in the terminal app).

Problem with space on MIUI 1.9.2

Hi guys,
i just put on my phone latest version of MIUI: 1.9.2
It's the first time i try MIUI rom. Anyway...the problem is that after some apps installed the system give me an error reporting "not enough space to install the app".
I have obviusly lot of free space (about 1.7 gb on dedicated partition).
Is it just a problem of mine or is it common?
How can i resolve?
Thanks a lot in advance for help.
I'm getting the exact same issue on a Desire, just installed MIUI 1.9.2 for first the time tonight too.
Despite plenty of space on internal, a2sd+ and sd card I get the message when trying to move apps both onto and off the SD card, some do work but a few have gone one way and won't go back.
Maybe i am wrong, but as i understood 1.9.2 it's a stable, not a weekly. I think this is a very hard bug for a stable rom. So i was thinking i have mistaken something... dunno, waiting for other reports.

Sorted, I'd forgotten about shifting the dalvik cache from internal to SD card...
In the end this was fixed by reformatting the ext partition on my sd card with Rom Manager, 512Mb ext & 0Mb swap (wipes whole SD card so be sure to backup before doing this!). Then via Terminal Emulator I reinstalled a2sd then moved the dalvik cache to the sd card, been on GV rom for so long I'd forgotten about this step when I last switched roms. Afterwards I've now got 135Mb internal space free and I'm now restoring about 100 apps, haven't tried moving to SD card and back yet but am hopeful now...
I'd post a link for you but don't have the 8 post required to be allowed to do so yet but if you google 'miuiandroid forums running out of space' it's currently the top result.
Hope it works out for you too...!
After few time the device begun with FC of every application.
So i've done a wipe chache/dalvik cache/factory restore (ididn't do it at first installation). For now no problems about space and FC.
Anyway thanks for help.

[big concern]application stays!

hi guys, my problem is that, my application stays every after install of new rom..
ive tested almost all roms for stock kernel, so i can say i already know the basics(e.g factory wipe, reset etc...)
i tested it with different roms...and still there...
i used flashtool, rooted again...and when i installed a new rom, the apps are still there...
and my phone's internal memory is always 208mb...even if it's a new rom, still 208mb...
i already tried a hundred times of full wiping/factory reset...
i also tried the factory reset in settings...
this annoys me coz some of the settings also stay...
any idea guys?
What do you mean by "stay"? You've installed an application, then after every fresh install of any ROM it's still installed? What app?
From your explanation it's impossible to have user-installed application to stay still, because data partition is wiped if you install stock ROM from flashtool.
I think it's cuz you moved that app to sd card

yes it's still there...i also find it impossible...that is why im shocked...and its not just an icon...its a real app because i can use it...
i dont put my apps on sd card...when i go to manage applications, the app is installed on the phone memory...
and one thing, it always displays 208mb on my phone memory whatever ROM i install...gdx,gingerxperia, foryopro....isn't it weird?
That's messed up

whipe your SD card :/
yes it's messed up up...:/
It would be very useful, if you give us the name of that application
If you've moved the applications to SD card then ye have to move them back to The internal memory then do a factory reset .. or a full wipe ..
Good luck

Well try to use Titanium Backup to force uninstall that app.
ok guys here it is...i think i found the culprit...but still i don't know why it's happening...
the culprit is link2sd...
i managed to format my sd card including the sd-ext, and then i installed a fresh ROM....the problem is gone...i intalled some apps like root browser, link2sd, battery widget monitor etc...now after setting up link2sd, a lot of things force closes, almost everything that i open e.g settings, camera, gallery, ALL!....reboot is the solution....
now when i turn it on, it seems like(seems like), some of the data in the internal memory is AUTOMATICALLY LINKED to sd-ext...that's AUTOMATICALLY without doing the transfer on the link2sd...that is why i get 208mb of free memory because when i install a new rom, it automatically links it to sd-ext...
now if i install a new rom, the things that were linked to the sd-ext stays...that is why it shows up....
now could this be a link2sd problem?anyone having this problem?
is it because my SD-CARD is problematic?
hew...thanks guys
