AT&T and galaxy nexus - Off-topic

Okay so I have a 4s with a micro sim. Can I take my gnex in att and get a new sim card for it. Or would I have to lie and say I'm using a different phone?

Get an adapter. I'll be cheaper. Last time I needed a new sim from ATT they charged me $25. I did lose mine though.

Maybe because I don't have any actual AT&T stores here, and only authorized retailers. lol. And I didn't feel like waiting for a card to be shipped. And I was able to roam on my Polish SIM but I had no money on that account so couldn't make calls or text lol. And stupid me lost it in Ireland when drinking a Guinness.

Bought mine for $199.00 on an upgrade which I was going to do anyways, but at least it's in my hands and I am loving it so far. Sold my GNEX for 200 an hour after I bought the N4 , so my out of pocket expense was zero dollars, not bad at all.
Only in America. It's not in my country! (yes we have T-Mobile too)

$199, and still Unlocked? Or are you stuck with using the Device for T-mobile only?
(since you signed a new 2yr contract, I'm aware you are stuck with T-mobile as a carrier.. Just curious if the phone is unlocked or not.)

Not a big deal for me, I hate AT&T and I have to have a GSM phone because I travel overseas for my business and CDMA is not and option for me. I still find T-mobile the best bang for the buck, hands down. I have never had any issues with customer service and the coverage and network speeds are fine for my everyday needs. So far the N4 upgrade was best 200 dollars I have spent, and I sold my GNEX for 200 an hour after I bought the N4 so my out of pocket expense was zero, not bad.

After looking at that link above I just realized one of the leaked pictures was actually from Malaysia.
Now I wonder if it'll be released in my country (Indonesia) as well. I may be hoping but I'm not hoping much at all. Indonesia is like one of the least "Google-cared" country. We get new devices so late it's not even new anymore.
Then again it might be our retail shops / carriers that just went full retard and think "Meh, who the hell buys Nexus in this country anyway? Why should we rush to get this phone in?"
Damn it
I might get one from Singapore if it was released there, though. Should there be any problems warranty is much easier to process (I fly back and forth every few months).
I asked singtel on their fb page. Their response:
Dear Jeremy, thank you for your interest. Do keep a look-out! Please be assured that we will keep you informed once we have an update. Thanks
"do keep a look out" sounds rather promising, but I'm only cautiously optimistic

It sounds like a rather generic response to me...
But I'm not gonna buy w contract though. Seems like I'm the only one amongst my friends w 12gb data cap.. And I'm not gonna give that away. Starhub 3g is fast enough
If its released in Malaysia then all the more better. Just a drive/ride across 2nd link or causeway

I am also in SG. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a 12GB contract on LTE. Singapore telcoms just followed suit with the USA and went for the massive cash grab known as metered billing.
I think that it's wrong to go from 12GB to 2GB of data while keeping the price the same. The price per month should have been lowered according to the data offered.
You have to admit though we are still paying a lot less than people in the USA. (http://www.androidcentral.com/us-mobile-data-prices-among-most-expensive-world)
My plan:
120 (outgoing mins)
600 SMS
2GB data
$39SGD (31.40 USD) per month
I have a friend that lives in the UK. I will be getting him to order me a white 32GB so that I can take advantage of LTE.

Successfully activated black 32gb on Sprint

Just a heads up for those worrying, today my Nexus 5 and SIM card both arrived. I got the black 32gb version. I also was able to order a SIM card from sprint worldwide. I attempted to activate it through the website, but was prompted to use the chat option. The person with whom I spoke on chat asked for an ein/esn, and a sim number. I provided the mied and number for my new sim card. I then turned my phone back on, and viola, LTE and voice both work perfectly.
So don't be discouraged if you ordered a 32gb black Nexus 5 and have a brand new sim card.
Do they still charge $87/month even though you bought a phone outright?

I wouldn't be to worried, Sprint Memo sent out to their stores. Everything will work out eventually hopefully on the 8th when the 16GB version is launched on Sprint.
INFORMATIONAL
Nexus 5 By Google
Sprint and LG Electronics USA announced Nexus 5 from Google will be available from Sprint beginning Friday, 11-8-13, for $149.99 (16GB version) after a $50 mail-in rebate via reward card with a new line or eligible upgrade and two-year service agreement or $18.75 per month with Sprint One Up (excluding taxes).
The Nexus 5 will be available in all sales channels, including Sprint Stores, Web Sales and Telesales (1-800-SPRINT1). Customers can pre-order the device beginning Friday, 11-1-13, by visiting www.sprint.com/nexus5.
The sleek, powerful new LG tri-band capable device featuring Android 4.4 will allow users to take advantage of Sprint Spark technology for improved 4G LTE speed and capacity
The full press release is available on Sprint.com.
Note: Google Play Stores and UICC Cards
Preferred Retailers with an ASC
Google Play stores will be selling 16GB & 32GB Google Nexus 5 in their stores.
These devices are un-kitted and require a Sprint 4G UICC card in order to activate Sprint service.
These ESN's will be recognized by Sprint.
Since stores may not have inventory of these UICC cards we are going to ship 5 4G UICC cards (SKU = 760492013536) at no charge to each Preferred Retailer with an ASC.
This will allow you to insert the card and activate the device for the customer.
All locations should expect these UICC cards to arrive by or before the 11-8-13 launch of the device.
Dealers with No ASC
Sprint suggests Dealers with no ASC to send these customers to Sprint Corporate Owned Stores or Preferred Retailer ASC locations.
Standard activation commissions apply.
Sprint will also have these available in Ingram soon for Dealers to purchase as needed.

There are a couple reasons
Like me, someone may be not up for a new contract yet so the only option is to buy outright.
Someone maybe at the end of their contract and want to go month to month which sprint will do if a customer doesn't renew the contract.
If i wasn't only a year into this contract i would probably go for the $50 version as long as it was the exact same phone.

I did mine on the next plan... all it is is a monthly payment plan to pay the full retail price of the phone, $650... so it's $32.50/month for the plan that lets you upgrade every year ($32.50/month x 18 months = $650). when you want to upgrade in a year (or 18 months and the phone would be paid in full), you either trade the phone in for the next one or just pay off the remaining balance ($260) and then sell the old one online and get the new phone on the NEXT plan
I don't know much as the next program. I don't like it from what I've read

well, I haven't received a bill yet that has the NEXT upgrade on it... so, my bill is $125 now, will be ~$158.00 with my SGS 5 on it.
$100 -> 10GB data bucket (shared between my wife and I)
$15 -> wife's line cost (for service)
$15 -> my line cost (for service)
$32.50 -> SGS 5
23% off national account discount
taxes
=$158 ish with the NEXT plan added
if you have a 10GB or higher mobile share plan, your lines are just $15/each if you are 1) financing a phone through NEXT; OR 2)pay for the phone upfront

If you're on the newer Mobile Share plans (especially 10GB+) it will save you money over a new two year contract. You do see a little bit of a higher monthly bill, but you save quite a bit over time. Make sure to get AT&T Insurance or Squaretrade, though. And the 20 month Next is better than the 26 month Next.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
If your going to spend $600+ you better invest that into a international version that supports AT&T LTE bands. You won't benefit anything from the AT&T version far as root, roms, etc since our bootloader is "locked"
Also AT&T Next is great if your into staying up to date with the latest devices like most of us here. Like the users said above but with more detail you can choose to lease/finance the device for either 12 months or 18 months. You pay $0 deposit down and depending on the terms of the lease/finance you can either pay $22 or $32 a month.
Your plan and everything decides on how much data you need. i have the 20GB plan with 6 lines. my bill is around $200-$250 a month. 3 of those lines are on the Next program
That's new to me. Wasn't sure the international version could support ATT

exactly what i have, i coupled my $25 phone payment plan (18 month instead of your 12 month) with the new 2GB data value plan
What if you get it on contract. Its $199 down payment and $320 as ETF.
Total $520.
Is there any catch? You can cancel the contract after 1 month, pay the ETF and keep the phone??

Yup, that's the same thing I did. My contract would have ended this September, but my previous phone (iPhone 5) was one drop away from being completely broken. Because of that, I said screw it, bit the bullet and did the early upgrade to the 18 month Next plan with the 2GB mobile share plan. I would have much rather the traditional 2-year contract plan, but oh well...no way my phone would have survived another 6 or so months.

Yeah, the phone is yours if you choose to go down that path. Personally, I try my best to avoid the ETF, simply out of principle.

Going to check out other retailers to see if I can get by without paying for 2 months of T-Mobile service on top of ATT :/
Try best buy.
Swappa.com and save some cash while your at it. A lot of XDA guys selling their stuff there.
Yeah looks like swappa+an unlock code would still be cheaper in most cases.
Seems that best buy only carries sprint Verizon and att?

You should be able to sign up and just cancel if you have no other options. The fine print reads that if you are using the Electronic Installment Plan and you cancel then the remaining balance on the phone immediately becomes due. Does it say there are some other fees you incur if you cancel early?
I'm selling my Tmobile unlocked Note 4 ..Message me

I'm always amazed by this lol, do you go in and say I just want a Note 4 or do you go tell them all your business?
I just think it depends on other factors, but idk I didn't have this issue but I heard others have.
I just told them i'm here to buy a Note I already had a plan. Activate a pay as you go for what $15 from Wal-Mart then go into store with the active line/account then they can't say no

My store asked no question, I think it's a combination of who's asking and whose selling. I don't say any more than I need too

+1. That is how I acquired my T-Mobile Note 4. Will eventually be putting up my "Excellent Condition" Verizon Note 4 as soon as the ETF get's billed and I either get it payed off via payments and/or my 6-8 week T-Mobile "debit" card comes to cover the costs. :good:
