[Q] New member 10 posts? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I get rid of this 10 posts rule? I need to ask questions in the development forum. I develop and test roms for the last year, not sure why I need 10 posts in general forums in order to post there.

it is forum rules
dont want fresher‘s rubbish posts here

That's the rule, and we're bound to follow. ^.~

There are no questions to ask in dev section. Its dev only. Not end user.
Then again i9000 dev section is full of end users spamming the board and not reading anything.

The very fact that you are making this post and posts here , means you are NOT restricted to make any useful posts on any forum but the development forum.
why?
Because its suppose to be spam free and Q&A threads are kept out of that forum to ensure ONLY development matters are discussed by Developers and members who have understood the rules and guidelines on how to use XDA site. New members need to understand this and respect them.
what do they need to understand?
This site was created by Developers for Developers
watch
what this videos conveys repeatedly are that there are dedicated forums and you need to LEARN to use the search engine
1) Use the search , instead of asking a question, as it is and has been asked by someone else and already answered so do not spam
2) Read, research and learn by looking in the right direction, so do not spam.
3) When reading the threads, you may come across, some interesting things and there you can make your own suggestions and or your findings, so do not spam
4) Specific Q&A threads are available for most phones, where you can ask questions, seek advice from others using similar phone like yours, so do not spam.
5) How do you find these threads? use the search, a few available on each forum for specific searches, so do not Spam.
6) There are even OT threads ( off topic) meant for members to have some fun, but not meant for beginners as you should at least have made 10 posts that had increased your knowledge or increased others by giving advice.
This community wants you to learn and walk the walk that all member's had to go through, just like citizens of a country have to undergo certain criteria to be a citizen of that country.
So, there you have it, its not about you learning to spam or posting out of disgust to reach to get over 10 posts but about you learning and achieving the status of an XDA member as well as learning how to find what you want with the search engine.
Again, if you learnt to spam, you may be penalized so avoid it at all cost making ten useful posts will only take a short time for anyone wishing to learn as well as teach or correct others. Try involving in a discussion thread, it will be over within hours
Finally you don't need to ask a question in the developers forum, there are Device specific forums, which you should and can use. Click the WIKI button on top of any forum and you can locate your Device WIKI page or your can use the general forum for such questions, either you will get an answer by a Member or the Moderator will move your post to the Device specific forum. So you must subscribe to your post, such that you will know where it has been moved to.
let me give you an idea
general forums A, or B
Q & A Forums A, or B,
Now if you look at Q&A, forums there are sticky threads in that forum for practically any question or phone by noobs where members are asking you to post , so that they can help you.
Mind you, above are only for people who cannot locate their phone model via the search . So when there is a specific forum for your device, there is also a Q&A thread in that forum for that device.
So you see clearly @Aeneas is spamming this thread, and someone will report him , and his count will be ZERO posts because of spamming instead of learning.
Just for the record, I have made over 2000 posts and I can tell you ONLY less than FIVE of them in Development Forums as a member in all this duration.
Hope this helps you understand

Hi Everybody

I guess I have to post 10 random threads somewhere on this forum before I can leave the comment and ask the questions I wanted to ask on the Android Developers forum.
So Hi!
Don't start a thread in development, it's not there for that! Start the thread in q&a if you can't search the answer. If your particular device doesn't have a q&a section then post in general.
If you are replying in an existing thread in development then more power to you I wish you a swell journey on your 10 post trail
And you could post 10 normal posts instead of just posting sh*t.
Having the ability to post is GREAT, but use it wisely. A lot of devs are asked numerous repeat questions. I find that reading all of the post FIRST is best. Your question has probably been answered more than once. Reading is FUNdemental.
Not trying to be critical and good luck on the 10.
I bet that this thread will be closed by morning.

thants cool hunk
Same reason why i'm here, need to get 10

Need to search

I need to post 8 times to be able to search a thread, and I don't want to tie up another thread, so I started this one.
If you need to get your post count up don't start a new thread. help someone out in a Q&A section post a screen shot in the post your home screen thread there is loads of stuff you can do to get you post count up.

Do you realize there is a reason why the Admins decided to restrict limits on new members? If you want to be a valuable member of the community, work towards your count. Please read "Postcount limit in developmental fora"
I have found Google search works better than xda search anyway.
smart! im doing the same thing so i can reply in threads. i have questions that cant be asked.

Try to post wisely mean you get to 10 posts

Post in the correct section for god's sake!

I'm wondering, is it really that hard to post in the correct section? Here are some threads that should be in Q&A, but all were on the first page in General when I copied their links:

That is 12 out of 20 threads (the stickied ones were not included) on the first page that weren't posted where they should be.
Also, I noticed that most of these threads were started by people with none to very few posts... Connection?
I sense that this thread might get closed for some reason.
The threads that I linked to should be closed/moved, or the newbies (mostly, some senior members as well..) who haven't yet developed the ability to read will soon post every single question they have in General...
My suggestion is increasing the post requirement before you can post in General.
A. Volunteer to become a moderator and hand down infractions or use the report post button.
B. Do you think you have any sort of authority over others and or think you are perfect?
C. Do you realize that your whiny post HAS NO PLACE HERE? (As does my response)

B: The OP is correct, the Q&A question exists for question, this one for general discussions. Where did he say he's perfect or above others?
C: Why not? He has a fair point. And I don't see him whining. What is your problem?
But I don't agree: Raising the post count for the General section is not a solution.
Maybe a new closed stickyied thread "This section is NOT for Questions you have, use Q&A for that" might help.
Reported my own post and suggested it to the mods.
Cheers.

Because the Q&A section is a no-man's land where no dev ever ventures. Trying to push the new guys that come here to the fringes is not the solution.

Apart from the fact that I and a couple others in fact ARE scanning the q&a section every now and then for questions which are lacking an answer and are not covered in any of the other threads:
That's not a valid reason to post in the wrong section. Especially considering the kind of questions linked in the OP which are pretty often already covered multiple times all over xda.

you're wrong they answer the questions that never been asked before if your question doesn't answer so search it first before creating a new thread if you search for an hour so search for a day and if you can't find it and you search for almost a day that's the right time to post don't post anything because you only want to reach 10 post to be able to post in developers section

The thing is when I go into the Q&A and see a bunch of old threads I am gonna think like that. I didn't talk out of my ass but went to the section and that was what compelled me to answer. The problems of this forum imo are solved with active moderation. Things like warnings, thread deletions and relocations. Until that investment is made we will be suffering this kind of problems.

[Q] can't post

hi, i m new
i use Galaxy Ace S5830 . i didn't root my phone until my warranty ended. i try a new rom and tried to ask a question about a rom.but i couldnt
Please Read: New members (those with fewer than 10 posts) are not permitted to post to development-related forums. The developer forums are intended for experienced users and developers to discuss ways to improve technical aspects related to ROMs and Software. While you may be an expert, we ask ALL users to avoid posting questions about using or installing ROMs and software in the Development Forums. To encourage this new Users can read but not post in these forums.

When you're a junior member or just new to xda, you won't be allowed to post on development threads until you cross 10 posts, you can only post on some other threads than those in the development section. This is mandatory to all the users. Every single guy on xda has experienced this. This rule is made so as to prevent new users from asking questions that are frequently asked and answered, to prevent populating of threads . You can always use google search or the search option here on xda if you have some questions . I'm darn sure you'll find everything. You'll progress slowly, first junior member --» member --» senior member. And then you can post anywhere on xda. Just have patience By the way, go through the xda rules completely to avoid problems and recommend it to every new user you come across. Good luck and welcome to the greatest forum on earth, " XDA !!! "

10 Posts needed for android development reply's

Hello,
Why do users need to post 10 posts on the forum before they can join the android development discussions? I've bin a user for quite some time now but i don't post a lot because when i say something it's something that is nowhere else to be found... So i found it quite annoying i needed to write 10 bull**** posts to join a discussion that is usefull.
Greets,
Daniël
Normally, new users look for non ROM-specific solutions.
Some tend to post in wrong subforums, so they're limited to General.

With such an eloquent and beneficial post such as this (where you cannot even follow the forum rules about swearing), I can see we have really been missing your wisdom in development forums.
I am closing this thread lest your incredible nuggets of profundity explode the minds of us mere mortals.
