Extended slim battery - EVO Shift 4G Accessories

So I have read through all the old threads about the extended batteries people have tried. Unfortunately most of the threads are almost a year old. If you have purchased an extended battery, what have been your results over the long run. Since I will be keeping my Shift for a long time, maybe it is time to try a new battery. Yes I am rooted and running Supreme, but with the amount of calls and emails I do daily, I can chew through a battery in 6 hours some days. Thanks for any input.

I bought a few a while back that so far have been great. I'll try and remember, or find out who I bought them from. I do remember it was off Amazon.
EDIT: But I do remember seeing that the 3500mah Batts have come down a lot in price.

I got a chichitec evo replacement battery from htcexpress.com (fits the shift, just "backwards" ... supposedly 1900 mAh) and it lasts pretty well for me. With light usage i can go about a day and a half or so on a charge. Heavy usage i get closer to 10-12 hours or so. Been working for me. I don't have any experience with the 3500 mAh batteries that need the replacement battery door though.

Yes the 3500mah Batteries need a different door. But I've run across them as cheap as $13 with the door included, and shipped. For that price I'm might give it a shot.

The only reason I haven't gone the 3500 mAh route is that I've already bought a case and holster and I'd like to keep using what I have. I also typically get at least 14 hours or so per charge off of my current settings/usage so I don't see the need for the extra bulk.
Worst case scenario, I have another battery that I got the same time, along with the cradle charger and my stock Shift battery so a little battery swapping and I'm good as new. Speaking of which, I might give my current battery a rest ...

I bought a 2400mAh 8.9Wh 3.7v battery from radio shack with these results:
I'm currently running SS9.2.1, overclocked to 1.5/245 w/ performance governor and I/O scheduler noop. With HEAVY use it will stay above 30% at 5:00 pm, I generally unplug it around 8 am.
If I turn the OC down to default of 800/245 it will normally stay above 50% by 8:00 at night. 90% of my phone use is between 8:30 and 5:00.
What drains mine the most if wifi tether.

Do you have a link to the battery?

Is this a slim battery, or a larger battery that needs the extra door?

I want to know also. Although my current battery works great. I always like having the extra juice.

The only one I could find on the Radio Shack website that matched your description is THIS ONE. Since the HTC Incredible and the EVO Shift use the same battery. I'm assuming that is the one your talking about. It looks a little thick, does it actually fit under your Stock Back Cover?

Same with the regular EVO 4G, Touch Pro2, Hero and MyTouch Slide (just FYI). I know the regular EVO 4G battery fits, but it's like backwards and upside down, so the label is facing the opposite direction. Contacts line up, same physical size and all that ...
EDIT: Because of the battery orientation, only slim/stock sized EVO 4G batteries will fit the Shift, obviously. Just wanted to make that correction.

Yes very true, and good to remember. But I was checking out the battery in the link. It's already in the correct orientation. What I'm wondering about is the actual thickness of the battery. I might stop into a Radio Shack by me to see if they have one, or can get one. So I can see it first hand.

It is not a slim battery, it works for the evo or the shift depending on how its installed. Its made by Digital Energy.
Edit: its twice as thick as the standard bat and it came with 2 new back covers, one that will fit the evo and another for the shift. I had the hard case protector from sprint but now the back does not fit on it but if you leave the front cover on it will still lock in the belt holster. I will try and remimber to take a picture with my tablet or wifes phone and upload it latter.

Battery Power, and Extender

I want a new battery with more power to my phone, i am also not apposed to getting a Extended Battery.. Any suggestions, or info i should no about?
Check out the Hero CDMA sub forum, there are several options for batteries there.
You can pick up two extra batteries and an external charger for about $12 on Ebay. I went this route and don't regret it. I keep a fully charged battery in my glove box and another in my back pocket.
I never worry about killing my phone during the day from overuse. That said, since I've been using Zen's newest MT3G slide ROM, I haven't been able to completely drain a battery while at work.
Check out my sig (the TP2 batteries) for ideas on batteries...
in a nutshell unless you want s really big battery. The best choice is to get a 1500mAh OEM battery or the cheap 1500mAh no-name ones (which are pretty much as good) Don't fall for the mugen and Seidio ripoffs

The new OEM TP2 2100 batteries...Are you considering them the best for the Hero..? If so where's the best place to get them ?
Mac
for what it's worth, i was hesitant to spend the money on the 3500 mostly due to everyone saying that back cover looked like poo. after getting it though, i can honestly say that it is of good quality. obviously, it's black, and that will bother some people. to me though, it's kind of cool when other Hero owners (there are a ton of them, too) comment on it. they can't believe how much better i tel them the batery life is since that seems to be most people's biggest complaint (for smart phones in general). The cover is rubberized and doesn't fall off like some people say.
As for battery life, i unplug and turn my phone on at 4:45am every morning and usually turn it off around 10pm and plug it in. in that time, my email is pushed every 30 minutes, my bluetooth stays on, i stream shoutcast or pandora for about 1.5 hours (to and from work), send and receive on average 15-20 text messages, talk maybe 45 minutes, and surf the web (gotta check engadget and xda, right?) for at least 30 minutes. the gps stays on the whole time and i only use my task killer once about 15 minutes after my morning startup when all the crap is running in the background. when i turn the phone off at night, it has usually just dropped to the 50% mark. well worth the $53 if you ask me...
2000mah battery
If I'm not mistaken, isn't this the battery that fits the stock back. Previous posts lead to dead link or relisted after relisted, on and on? If this is it, it's back on ebay. I had read somewhere on this site that it was worth the long wait.

don't know that I'd buy it. especially coming from hong kong it's probably pretty terrible qualitywise, but I like that battery cover better than the actualy HTC extended battery cover.
Well, as nice as it would be to have nearly twice the power, it looks like it would make the phone monstrously thick. I may like my women curvy, but I like my phone thin.
I'd also be a bit concerned that the recess for the camera lens and flash will interfere with picture quality, causing "barrel" shadow as well as limiting flash light splash.
Agreed...looks pretty chunky to me...jc
I think I may be picking this one up... I like hong kong stuff
has anyone picked this up yet? any reviews?
It has gotten some positive reviews over at androidforums. It probably won't last more than a few months until it stops holding its charge, but for $14 its worth a shot. Another seller is selling two batteries, the cover, and an external charger for $22, so even if both batteries fail, I figure I at least won't have to do anymore bump charging.
I bought a battery from China one time for my blackberry and it worked well for like a week but it didn't carry a charge to well then I leave it one nite fully charged and I wake up its dead.... and it happens every single time...

So far I've left it running for 10 hours with light usage, and it is still at 80%. Very impressive. Seems to be lasting longer than my 2150 official HTC battery as well. Absolutely worth $15 with the back case.
I'm undervolted and overclocked on a rooted dinc, with a sleep profile in setcpu.

Just a thought...
So instead of getting a 2600 that makes your phone overly huge, why not get the 2-1800MAH batteries with the separate charger they have on ebay? The batteries are for the EVO 4G, but at least you know they will last over a month and for two 1800 MAH batteries and the charger, it is only $24.95
Also, the 2600MAH one on some auctions on ebay are 11.95 with free shipping...so better than $16.00, I guess it's worth a shot if you want a huge a$$ phone!

It really isn't all that big, especially with the HTC back on it. It only slightly protrudes out of the silicone case that I cut to put it in, and after several weeks has held its charge better than the 2150 battery I have (same physical size). It lasts about 30 min to an hour longer. Very impressive for a $15 battery.
Is the battery the same size as the 2150 htc one bhaz? Just curious cause the phone does look huge with my 2600 hk battery and back. Considering the htc 2150 if its more stylish.

I got the battery on Saturday, I bought the 2600 MaH battery for 11.00 w/ free shipping. When the battery arrived, it actually said 300MaH. The first 4 days, the battery was amazing. I would unplug my phone at 8A and when I went to charge it overnightI would still have 30% left. My stock battery would need to be plugged in by 5P or it would die on me. The new battery I thought was great but after the 4th day, I noticed that the battery started draining quicker and quicker. It's 2:30P and my battery is at 40% already and it's just been sitting on my desk at work. I guess I got what I paid for. I contacted the seller and I'm waiting for a response from him. I might buy the HTC 2150 battery as that worked really well. I figured I could still use the Back cover that came with the ebay battery but use the better battery.
Just got my supposed 2700, yes, 2700, from a seller in usa for 25 bucks. We'll see how it lasts.

A few weeks ago, I bought a 2600 that had the fat door on it with speaker holes. On average for the first four days, the battery lasted a few hours longer than the 1750 Seidio and about 2X the 1300 stock.
About the fifth day in, the battery started declining in life and now lasts in between the stock and Seidio (more than stock, less than Seidio). Weird thing is the trend down has stopped and it remains a little weaker than the Seidio.
I expected the life to trend down "soon", but not days- I expected a few months of good use. Not even $13 worth use, now that I went back to the longer lasting 1750 Seidio. Fat door Inc would be fine, IF the battery lasts longer. Not in this case.

Bigger batteries.. is it really worth it?

I've really wanted to get a bigger battery, not necessarily a bigger phone. I was looking up videos on youtube, and I found a guy who actually bought one of those verizon silicon cases and used that instead of having a new backing for his phone because the battery was so much bigger. Do you guys really find not having to charge your phone for 20-30 hours worth the extra cover and stuff? I'm sure it's not an option for everyone, but why bother with that if you can just charge it sometime in between? Car chargers are cheap, and there should be some time of sleep between 20-30 hours of you using your phone (you know, where you could be charging it). Also, what is the biggest battery you can get without requiring an extra case?
The 2150 mah battery is perfect for me. The new back protects the camera lense and the leds. I have also noticed that I can hold the phone by the extended back and it feels more comfortable then before. It doesn't add that much weight and the phone is still pretty slim. Obviously I also get improved battery life as well.
I have been using the 1750 battery and it improved my battery life from 6-8 hours to 9-12ish, which is perfect for me. I just needed to make it through the work day and the regular size works for me.
I couldn't go to a bigger battery, since I have a case that works for me and I don't want to change.

My 2 cents... I have the 2150. I still go through it once or sometimes twice a day. I dont like the way it feels in my front pocket and the fact there isn't much at all if any accessories that will fit it. I just ordered (4) 1500mah batteries and 2 charges off of eBay for a whopping $20. shipped. I can use the 2150 when I am out and not near a charger or just sell it and carry extra 1500's if needed.

At that price, it sounds like you bought some off-brand garbage. While I hope that's not the case, could you please confirm/deny? What brand are these batteries?
I need the extra battery...was out today using the stock one and was dead after 5 hours (3 hours I was using My Tracks on my run). I don't care about accessories, I just need it to not run out of charge.
I find the extra ummph in the 2150 battery to be worth the lil bulge in the back....modded a silicon case with a cutout to let the excess...works pretty well and couldnt be happier...the only downfall i found so far is the charge time is nearly 4 hrs from a completely dead battery...never really timed it but it takes a while, but worth it.

I'm not sure which one he's using, but I'm using the Seido 1750. My battery life is...decent, I guess. If I bump charge. After reading so many threads on battery life for Android phones and, specifically, HTC Android phones, I'm left wondering a few things:
1. Since HTC seems to have issues charging batteries fully...if we're wiping Battery Stats appropriately (assuming you are rooted), does the phone actually "register" that it's got such a large battery to charge? Or is the phone so stupid that it stops charging it at a 1500's capacity?
2. When apps sync their data, is Android OS smart enough to have them sync at the same time? Or, does my 30 minute Facebook sync occur 10 minutes after my 30 minute Twitter sync, etc.?
New to the forums guys, it was a round-about way I got my Incredible, extended battery, and seidio battery but here is my opinion on this. If you're not gonna use it heavily throughout the day then you can get away with the 1500/1750 batteries. But if you think you're gonna get some solid use out of the phone for a day, you don't want to have to charge it throughout the day, or you don't want to have to rush home and charge it before you go out then you should get an extended battery. Using both over the past week to see which one I want to stick with, the extended is just more convienient since I don't have to think about how much battery i'm at and remember to put it on a charger.
There is a guy on here who modified his case to accommodate the 2150 battery and after seeing that I think that's what i'm gonna do. If you can get the extended cheap then definitely go for it, its just more freedom in my opinion.
Why do you want to go to an Incredible? I thought the X was a better device. Just too big? I have yet to see an Evo or X so I have know idea how big these things are.

did you get lost? your in the Incredible section of the forum, so there will bee a predominant amount of Dinc users here.
And I'd rather have an Incredible over that piece of Moto anyday
I recently bought a 2700mAh extended battery. I don't mind the extra thickness, it allows me to get a better grip on it. As for battery life its great. With the stock battery I could barely make it through 8hours at work. With the new battery I have made it 10hours and counting. I have had GPS, Sync, WiFi, and max screen brightness on all day and only at 73%. Made a few phone calls, and a few Twitter updates. Was worth it.

No I didn't get lost. I was just curious what he did not like about the X. I would rather have an X but HTC phones are much easier to hack. A Dinc hacked on to Sprint Sero is hard to say no too. I would have done an Evo but used prices on an EVO are still ridiculous and I'm waiting for HTC sort out it's display issues.
Back to the topic at hand. I'm liking my Seidio 1750. With some tweaks I'm getting better battery life then my 3GS got. I make it through a whole day of moderate usage (some web, some streaming and 5-10 calls) and still have 20% at bed time. So I'm quite happy. Someone did point out a thread on Android Central. I won't return the battery but it did dampen my spirits a little.
http://androidforums.com/accessories-incredible/119578-battery-testing-results.html
I have had the 3500, for a week. Lasts 2x the 1750 (have one) and the door design is more rugged and protects the lens well.
Worthy purchase.
I had the HTC 2150mah and returned it. I just couldn't live with the bulk.
I bought both 1750 and 2150 from HTC Pedia. They are both HTC BRAND batteries. They both work well and add work time to my INCREDIBLE. Don't buy anything but brand and you will be happy! I found HTC PEDIA to be the best place to buy accessories for my phone!

Anybody gonna buy an extended battery?

I was just wondering if anyone is gonna buy an extended battery?
I just ordered me one off of Android Central. I ordered the 1750mAh battery that's originally for the original Evo. But it fits the Shift also.
My buddy has it in his Evo Shift and he gets well over 14 hours on one charge. He took his phone off the charger at 8 this morning and when we got off work an hour ago his battery was at 59%...and yes he's been making calls, sending lots of texts and going on the web as well as streaming music on pandora.
This was sent shifting on my EVO Shift 4G using Tapatalk
I am not calling you a liar. I am saying that 250 more milliamps will not make a huge difference. Maybe might get another hour to hour and a half I would speculate. I have no proof to back my thought either. This is just my opinion.
Check out the testing done on Battery Boss.

Might want to check and see if that battery for the EVO works on the Shift. I tried a battery out of a friends EVO and it doesn't work. Hero battery does though.
um, works just fine. Same part number and everything.
HOWEVER, your battery wont fit his evo unless you snip the plastic block as they put some odd notching on the new battery.
I've been using my evo batteries since day 1.

I am not calling you a liar. I am saying that 250 more milliamps will not make a huge difference. Maybe might get another hour to hour and a half I would speculate. I have no proof to back my thought either. This is just my opinion.

I understand what you're saying. But all I know is that his battery was at 59% when we got off work. Maybe it lasted longer because the Shift is a smaller phone than theEvo and therefore it doesn't use as much power like the Evo. Thus resulting in the fact that the battery doesn't drain as fast.
Idk....but i definitely ordered one. Once I get it, I'll report my finding.
The original evo friggin inhaled batteries because of the screen.

You have to install the evo battery upside down in the shift correct? My concern is the pin layout. May have to give it another look.

No, whatever gave you that idea? Same pins, same layout, same everything. Not sure why you'd call it "upside down". Guess it depends on which side of the "label" you'd call the upside.
RHOD100. Same part numbers. Guess if you care where the "words" are when you install the battery, so be it, but otherwise the battery is just fine.
for everyone coming from the Hero, and those that still have it. It's battery can be used as an extra. I just tried mine, just flip the battery upside down and works just fine.
Folks, to clarify my earlier statement, the pinouts are exactly the same, do NOT worry about which side of the label is the "top" or "bottom". The writing on the battery label means nothing.
If the labeling really really matters to you, get a sticker and write on it "This side OUT on the EVO SHIFT"
Word of warning tho, the Shift battery may NOT work in the evo or TP2 or Hero or any other phone that uses RHOD160 class batteries because they are changing the plastic notches at the end.

I just has a legendary idea...once I get my evo or evo shift, I will use my hero as a extra battery charger...better than sitting in a desk drawer forever right?

That battery is THICKER than oem, therefore you wouldn't be able to get the back of your phone back on.....
But you you can use it.
I have a seidio 3500 monster but no replacement back cover.

Guess its time for the first custom mod to the battery cover =) I have a huge battery I used for my evo also, I like the idea of staying small and charging with my hero more though.

I dont find a need to use an extended battery. If you know how to set your phone up properly and buy a few replacement china made batteries you should never have a problem. I'm at nearly 40 hours and still have 25% left on my battery. I posted what I did in another thread under general on how and what I do to get this kind of battery life. This phone is amazing on power usage if you just set it up right and know how to use it. I get more life out of this phone than my Optimus S and i thought that phone was killer. I always have a fully charged battery in my wallet for when I ever run out and need a full charge.
I was already getting about 12 hours on the original evo shift battery. I got my Extended battery early this morning, charged it all the way up. I know its too early to really see a difference but I took my phone off the charger at about 1030 this morning and I'm just at 94 percent battery life..if that means anything

Do you mean the seidio 1750 when your talking about extended battery? Or did you actally get a bigger size battery that needs an extended back cover?

Fifedogg, do me a really big favor and do NOT ever put a Lithium class battery in your wallet or any other place that it could ever flex.
We really don't need a catastrophic accident in the news about the battery cracking, getting exposed to oxygen/moisture and spontaneously combusting and, um, toasting up your backside.
LiON/LiPoly/LiPO class batteries can burn at excess of 1000F, your skin is no match for that temp.

1900 mAh Battery

Ok, so my 1900 mAh batteries just came in from HERE and I popped one into my phone while charging the other in the wall charger that's included. I charged my phone to 100%, and immediately after I removed it from the charger it has dropped already to about 90%.
I'm assuming it's because the battery stats are for the smaller capacity stock battery. So I feel like i just need to calibrate the battery. What's the best way to do this?
Let it 100% drain then wipe battery stats and charge to 100% or what?
Thanks
Charge to full
Leave phone plugged in, turn off, and wait for LED to turn green again
Reboot into recovery
Wipe battery stats
Reboot, then unplug
How does this battery fit in the Inc? Do you need a different backing for this?

Cool, so my jelly case should still fit on it just fine. How has your battery life been? Is it worth it?
Replaced the Seidio with this set by far better life! Nice to have an extra battery always ready at any time! Well worth the price.
What is about the average time you get out of it now?
for me (cant figure out how to get up time vs. awake time) I would say from "normal" use, I have been at one point 19+ hrs off battery hand still had about 70% BUT i dont know how much time was awake time TBH.
Definitely better than stock IMO
Thanks for the info crazyg0od33. I think I'll pick up one of these batteries as well!
Up Time: 15:25
Awake Time: 3:10
44% Battery Left - Seems to last forever. Great set of Batteries...
Shoot, 3 hours awake with 44% left is pretty good. I'm assuming awake=screen on? Was kinda wanting to try these batteries, I don't need two, but I think they're cheaper when you get two.
So can anyone confirm for certain if this is a smart buy? Price doesn't seem all that bad, but it could be bad if the batteries are garbage
My girlfriend needs a new battery and made the mistake of buying a $6 piece of crap on Amazon so I'm taking over
Hope it fits, I just bought one.
exactly what i did and works beautifully.
and yes its a tight fit but itll work fine. stock case and a body glove and i dont even notice
Might have to check these out to
Ordered the single one for $20, thanks for posting

I got a 1900 mAh extended battery with the external charger off of ebay for ridiculously cheap and it's some of the best money I've spent, especially off of ebay.

You really think? I have two of the 1900's and the first one I used caused my GPS to not lock on and the battery life wasn't all that noticeable. I'll have to try my other one and make sure that my battery terminals are clean.
