Well, I'm not sure I I've had it for, but when ever I go to call someone I get always get black screen of death. Though never happens when I receive a call.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or does anyone know a way to get rid of it? Cheers

If you want some answer, it sure will helped that you have written some info about your rom&kernel&baseband. I assume that you are using some custom stuff and that your problem lies in that way.

I knew i forgot something aha.
But nah, it doesnt matter what combination of rom, kernel, baseband and rill i try. it stills ends up with bsod.
i just wanted to know if anyone else out there have had this or still have this problem
and right now im running Topogigi's latest with 725 bb and rill.
So it happens all the time on every rom? Strange. Try to flash latest stock rom with belonging baseband and see how it works.
Or try this Rebuild of V20Q (flash the v20q baseband too)
It is.
I was running that just last week, the problem still appeared aha :/

Usually ppl refer it as BSOD instead of BOS here.. thankfully you already elaborated what BOS is to avoid confusion. just telling..
Is it this only problem on your phone? Is it present from the first day or it comes when you start flashing custom stuff? When did you first seen this bsod? Try downgrade your phone (e.g. on v10), erase all android stuff on sd card, then upgrade it via lg upgrade tool.
If your call bsods have been happening since you got your phone, on stock firmware, kernel, and BB. Then I would quit troubleshooting and return the phone to the shop.

Yeah really should, but that's a large amount of hassle. And I rarely use outgoing calls. So its not a great problem for me.

My problem is simply this: I have a Galaxy tab us Sprint model, running completly stock( aside from the root) and i have tried instaing spacemooses Honycomb port, my issue is when i flash the kernal that includes cwm 3.0 it starts up and gives me several errors to the likes of E:unable to mount sd card. im pissed! i know how to use heimendall and the flashing software but i keep getting this error, HELP!!!
You need to find your sprint files and flash it back to stock. I installed HC and it just plain ain't ready. Search google for stock sprint kernel and rom. That's what I had to do to get back to working.

Just so you know no one made you flash the rom. It is an alpha, and things will always go wrong!
If your mad it should be at yourself. The only people who should be flashing this should be people who can get themselves out of it.
And yes, to geet out of this get something flashable with Odin/Hiemdall and go back to stock.

No! The kernel is the key to getting it up and running. Yes it is thrown together and somewhat crude bit it works.
Follow up on the progress as things should get fixed rather quickly and try again with a later build.

How was the video rude??
It was blunt and to the point. If you felt it was rude then I can only assume that you felt it related to you in some way.
The video is intended to make it extremely clear that 99% of all the questions n00bs/newbies (what ever you want to call them) think of asking have already been asked and answered in abundance. Its also designed to make them think twice about where and when to post aswell as to use the search button.
Now before you think im saying you fall into this category, im not. I'm simply telling you that the video is 100% necessary as staff and the community in general have really had enough of all the crap.
Anyway, back on topic. You should really stay clear of the HC alpha builds and wait for a beta or final. Flash back to stock or custom for now.
I get what he is saying, as I too have encountered the same problem. I've searched and searched, and I've spent most of the week flashing back to stock with heimdall.
I think what he is referring to is the conversion to ext4. It appears CW3 is not successfully converting to the ext4 format. I've even tried the Verizon bootstrap app with the same results, multiple mount errors.
jjenkins09, On a side note, you did come off a little rude, and a little more research before claiming to be pissed may have worked a little better for you (Honey catches bees).
I would love to know if anyone has had success flashing to EXT4 with a Sprint tab, and if so, Could I borrow the zImage and see if the problem is isolated to my tab.
As im glad for any advice , i did actually do a good bit of reasearch, but i feel where your coming from

Hi folks,
nice to be here. I just bought an Optimus Black and I'm quite satisfied with it, because I immediately flashed Zeus v2.2 after unboxing - stock was very, well... sluggish.
Now I was wondering, if there are different basebands I could use to perhaps improve the reception of my mobile. Well, my main mobile is the Optimus 2x and there are a many baseband/ril combinations possible for that one. I searched the forum here and the internet, but couldn't find anything useful except the fact, that GetRIL now supports the P970 as well (although GetRIL doesn't identify my phone).
If anyone has an advice, I'll be very thankful
As far as I know there is only one baseband for OB.
Froyo baseband is the same of GB baseband.
Thanks mate!
may i bump it up to clarify - is there really an only radio driver for OB?
searching through forums shows up different versions - 1035.23_20110407 (mine), 1035.23_20110707 and xmm6160
Seems that the one you saw is the most recent I guess. GetRil says that :

Installed GetRIL and it says i have latest one...
How can I update the baseband/RIL?

Hello Guys,
starting with a ton of thanks to all of you, that let this place be the wonderful place it is for people looking for some news and advices etc. etc. etc.
and absolutly sorry in advance if i havent find what i'm looking for, boring people with the noob thread, but that's it, i've a couple of questions.
i finally got my LG Thrill 4G and i live in Italy and quite everything is working fine with the stock rom, but i've yet customized my old (bad) Motorola Backflip with a GB Rom,and i would like to test some customized Rom,but for example is hard to find the Rom, cause dead links, and i have a couple of questions:
1-i've rooted the phone and installed the CWM (and it works, cause i accidentally delete some system file and done a restore with a saved backup through the recovery) i've also downloaded from market the Rom manager ,but doesn't recognized my recovery and ask me again to flash the cwm, but it shows just the Optimus v and the Optimus 2x options not the thrill or the O3D. so the question is, how is it possible that it doesn't recognize it? is a problem between the download from the market,i'm pretty sure to have followed instructions in the right way, cause it works. why there isn't the right choiche for the thrill?some suggestions? Thanks in Advance
2-i'm in Italy so i can't use a lot of bloat like every kind of at&t stuff and i was wondering if ,like for the Rom customized, there is a way just to trash all of this things i never use, cause sometimes i received message you cant trash it.
there is a particolar procedur to follow to don't lose some system file uninstalling them?
and finally the third
i've seen that some of the Rom of the O3D i can use on the thrill, there some problems with the radio,or some advice in using an "european" Rom in an usa phone?
thanks to all

It's a fantastic phone as far as hardware. The majority of us are a bit bitter over the lack of software support from manufacturer/carrier in the US. If you have the 30 day return policy, I'd give the phone a chance.
I really like mine. Stick with the stock ROM, just remove all of the bloat ware. Other ROMS aren't ready yet. Maybe they never will be, but at least stock works.
I used the Galaxy One-Click Root program and(yes it worked) then removed all of the garbage AT&T junked it up with. Runs great other than the camera acting wonky every now and again. I agree about staying with official build rom. As bad as I want Gingerbread, I'm not wanting the headache of what works, and what doesn't work.

i think it too , and here in italy we dont' have a policy like this, here the O3D costs about 600 euros, and is really not affordable.

extended battery (haven't tried it, though)
Another silly question:
I've tested a couple of roms and i'm trying using a O3D,but i've read that GB Roms have 3d issues.
Wich is one Froyo based Rom that goes fast and stable, without battery draining and can still use 3d and hdmi?
If i update the baseband to GB,i can restore or install Froyo Roms, without change it?
Many thanks to all.
P.s.
Just to let you know, in Italy,on my thrill,
Thriller, and Thrill_seeker are good, but also the doomed Froyo.
The stock Rom of O3D is good too,but still drain batt.
Thanks to all.
Stavo pensando se c'e' bisogno di qualche traduzione in italiano per i miei compaesani, che come me hanno acquistato un bel Thrill.
Saluti.

Hello,
I'm wondering if there is a way to discover if I have a bad partition without experiencing a Hard Brick?
I am on the official Taiwanese ICS release (LPF) and I DID to a Factory reset and Cache wipe on the Factory recovery after flashing. I used PC Odin and was coming from stock GB.
As Odin was doing its thing I got an error message about not being able to find a certain file. I wish I had written it down, but I don't have the exact verbiage. Anyway, Odin seemed to finish, the phone booted and it's been fine ever since.
I had been on LPY, but after reading about the emmc bug, I went back to GB.
I have had a few bugs, but the phone seems fine. I guess I'm just paranoid now from all the threads about bricking.
Is there anyway to tell if I have damage if I don't actually have a brick? I tend to copy a lot of pictures from my storage to a NAS, and I'm worried at one point the phone will just blow up if I copy a large number of files one day.
Thanks for the help
Sorry for the bump but I could really use some help.
Maybe I can ask another way. After flashing Official Taiwan ICS and wiping both before and after, am I safe now if I havent bricked yet? Its been over a week.
Thanks
There is currently no way right now that is "public knowledge" at least. Entropy and others are hard at work at fixing the bug, although there already is a workaround like in Franco's kernel and Speedmod kernel. And the CM9 kernel is safe.
I believe you are perfectly safe.I have been switching ROMs ever since ICS was out for note.I've done factory resets on each of them. I didn't face any bricking issues. Incidentally, talking about wiping, I've done factory resets on ZSLPF for about 13 times. It's still perfectly fine. I personally think stock Roms are impeccably SAFE; it's the "rooting" and "cwm" which causes problem in ICS on note. I advise you to be wary of rooting till it's perfectly safe to do so.

OP,
There is a cumbersome way...but it is a way to test if your data system partition is fried.
Like Sumrall has mentioned in one of the original links, you don't know if it's fried until the phone tries to access that part of the chip. If it is indeed fried, your phone will lock up and reboot.
What I did to test to make sure my NAND was alright was to copy movies into the data folder via Root Explorer. Copy stuff into the data folder until there wasn't any space left (as you approach 10mb and under in the data partition, copy mp3s, and eventually even font files to really hone down on the remaining space). If parts of the NAND were indeed fried, your phone should lock up and reboot when that happens. If nothing happens, your data partition is fine.
You can repeat these steps for the system partition if you so wish, but it is very unlikely, as root explorer indicates, say in my case, that there is only 6mb of space free or so. So if any damage had been done to the system partition, you would have found out a long time ago in my opinion either through a fail flash in odin or something along those lines.
Ignore "abhijit038". He's a troll and is spreading dangerous information.
Hi,
I have a Galaxy S GT-i9000 on Orange, UK. I've only had it a week because I bought it off my brother. I upgraded to ICS 4.0.3 and although it seems fine, there is no signal at all, EVER. Although it get's wireless Internet! And the SIM isn't damaged in any way, so it is definitely a software issue. The Internet is a bit strange, because it is coming from my network, not Wi-Fi (it's off, as is bluetooth).
I'm liking ICS, but obviously I need a signal. It was easy to upgrade, I just booted from the zip I placed in the bootloader. But I can't downgrade the same way. I've tried looking for old Gingerbread files, but can't find any! All the Depositfiles.com links are dead. So, ideally I would like to stick to ICS and find a signal fix, failing that I guess it's a downgrade that I need?
Or should I upgrade to Jellybean?
I couldn't find anything on people having similar problems with network loss, but I'm 99.99% certain it is the software causing the issue.
Thanks for reading.

I'm downloading DarkyROM now, but it's going to take 2 hours! Is this the right way to flash a modem? I've not done it before.
Hi
I had a similar problem on my old SGSI. I flashed an ics rom (don't remeber the name) and everything worked apart from the network so no phone calls and no internet apart from with Wifi. Anyway i googled the problem and tried loads of different solutions. After flashing more roms i ended up with the DarkyROM_v11.0_black_edition with the 3.0.17-semaphore_ics_1.2.5s kernel.
This didn't help either. In a last minute test at the end of what felt like the longest day in my life i checked to find that i had damaged one of the contact pins that read the sim card. I bent it back and everything has worked since then. And it's worked well!
Thanks, it was the modem needed flashing! Very simple too I also downgraded to Gingerbread which is faster.
Thanks everyone :cyclops:
