First, I'm not a developer.
Second, I'm sick and tired of manually clearing the Media Storage app data.
Someone should make a script or something which would run when Android is shutting down and it would clear the Media Storage data. I don't think that's a problem to make, and it would be very useful. It should be a flashable .zip.
It would be a good temporary solution until a definitive one isn't found.
Who's with me?
PS: I want to be mentioned in the credits as the ideator, if not a problem. xD
EDIT: Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.
We're all with you
I think cm9 is the only rom that fixes this problem.

why you want to clear this data?
cache - dalvik or what else ...
aokp for galaxy s is based on cm9 repository .... for example ..... and media storage works perfectly ...

No, I want to wipe the Media Storage application's data. I want to do that in order to fix the music player. Sometimes it doesn't want to play the tracks on the external SD card. Then I have to wipe the app's data and reboot. Why shouldn't the phone do it automatically?

Could this feature be ported?
Me too have the same Media Storage problem with External SD but I fixed it using Rescan SD application from Play Store It's free and It's working like charm also you might need to use Rescan Media Root app first just in case.
Regards
I solved the problem by unmounting and mounting the External SD Card

Hah. This tread was soon forgotten. It was nice with you guys!
problems with media
I am starting to have some issues with my sounds... ringtones, notifications and alarms... I just don't seem to be able to correctly pick them, neither with Android System or Sound Picker. whenever I selected a sound (make it ringtone, alarm or notification) through sound picker, it would play a default sound, and whenever I selected it with Android system, it would just make no sound at all.
Also, selecting on "Music Library" does nothing. Anyone seeing this?...
clearing data for media_storage didn't work even with reboot. "Scan Media" worked for me, but only after a reboot.
@op please look before posting

Hi Guys,
I face some problem with my Galaxy mini GT-S5570.
My ROM is Jelly Bean (CyanogenMod 10).
My 1st parition of SDCARd file system is FAT32 (amount 6GB)
With this ROM, my Music Player could not find any music files.. I have put all the music files on /SDCARD/Music folder. But, the music player could not find any of them. I also have tried to place all music files on /SDCARD. But, music player still could not find any music. So on when tried use Winamp for android.
My picture viewer also could not show all of my old picture (taken by ROM Gingerbread) although I have place it on the same folder (/SDCARD/DCIM/Camera). The pictures are shown only the new picture that was taken by camera with Cyanogenmod 10.
Please help, how to fix it?

Using Root Explorer or any file manager with root access, go to the root of your SDCard, find a folder named ".nomedia" without quote, then delete that folder, run the can again.

Hey all,
The GTalk video call fc bug on CM10 has been discussed sparsely in various threads and in order not to spam/pollute them even more with posts regarding the issue i decided to make a new one, just to figure out if it really works ok for some and why's that. Recently it was mentioned that if one flashes the Xoom modded gapps (by EOS team - found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777987) he'll get video call running since the EOS team has modded the package in order to work with non-NEON devices (or something like that - haven't been able to find clear documentation in their thread). I flashed said gaps package and, even though the phone is able to initiate the video call in the background, i get a foreground 'unfortunately gtalk has closed' or so message. Thats definitely better than before when the program was simply crashing, but doesn't solve the issue. Audio calls run fine though. Pengus mentioned that he wiped dalvik/cache, flashed EOS gapps, rebooted and rebooted again and it worked. Didnt happen for me, still same issue on video calls. I must also note that even b4 flashing EOS gapps, i was able to do video calls and even videoconference (3 way video call) using G+ hangouts, so it must be a program specific issue more than a general android libs situation (excuse my ignorance - doing my best to understand how things work in this OS ). So how do this run for you people? Is there anyone who managed to get it running fine on CM10, and if yes, can you give some details on your current setup? Also, if you did manage to get it running, did you follow a different flashing procedure than the one mentioned here? Thanx for your replies/participation
My current setup: CM10 3/1 nightly, old BL, v28e BB, EOS gapps
Peace

Hi,
here is what I did to solve this: I just took the libvideochat_jni.so from the eos-package and pushed it to /system/lib. Afterwards I cleared gtalk data and cache, restarted the device. Finally I could do video-calls
I've also attached the libvideochat_jni.so I used, maybe someone can make a flashable zip from it. I'm on pengus latest rom+kernel by the way.
Regards,
orgler

I installed the gapps and gtalk video work after my first reboot.
gTalk video doesn't work for me either... Hangouts work, even though they had a hard time starting to work, but eventually I was able to do a video conference, after some hangs and reboots...

You need to take from eos Talk.apk, libvideochat_jni.so, libvideochat_stabilize.so and check, if you have original /system/lib/hw/camera.tegra.so. If you experimented with ICS cam, camera.tegra.so possibly changed.

Hi,
After a long time away from Sense using MIUI on my Incredible S, I decided to go back to the nearly-stock-ROM Android Revolution HD.
After a few days I suspected something were wrong because the sounds for notification and ringing felt very strange.
I decided to check to find a better sound for notifications, and in the settings HTC tells me that it doesn't find any sound!
Same thing when I open the HTC Gallery, no picture is found.
Maybe it has something to do with the folder structure on the sdcard having changed?
Is there a way to solve this problem?
Thanks.

Alright. I have a working phone remover. The deny signal is gone. The phone stuff is gone. Only problem is the device reboot when trying to bring up the power menu. So I guess we can't remove mobile data from the settings. Unless I or someone from here can figure something out. Anyways, now I''ll try to add flare effect and fix the mic and stuff.

Not working on 3100
on Booting the message "android.phone" has stopped and "android.gapps" has stopped pops every second. Cant even get through the setup process.
Procedure which i followed was from cm 10.1.2
Wipe data-> wipe cache->wipe dalvik->install rom->wipe cache->wipe dalvik and reboot.
going back to cm now.
Thanks.
I have the P3113 and simply go into systemui.apk and remove all signal icons. I also remove all the battery icons simply because I prefer the bat %. I know this does not remove the phone stuff itself but it does get rid of the icons in the Noti bar without any errors.
Not the best way but it works.
