If your new firmware is Stock firmware(released by samsung), you can flash with Odin(dont select reset partition in odin)
OR you can connect to Kies n update it.
OR Go to setting - about phone - software update, check if update available OTA, if available, you will get notice n update from there(easiest n fastest way)
Hello.
One week ago,I was forced to flash custom ROM,cause something goes wrong and I didn't have backup. However,I want back the stock ROM. Where can I download it? I don't want to install Kies to my laptop, because normally I don't need it. I am able to flash the ROM using CWM.

Struggling To Flash Rom

Hi guys,
Now I had no problems flashing a custom ROM on my HTC Desire but my Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 is causing me a huge headache
I would like to flash Jelly Bean but I'm struggling.
My Note is rooted and I have purchased Mobile Odin off the Play store, using Mobile Odin has not resulted in a successfull flash, yet. lol
What's even more confusing is that the kernel version on my Note has changed but no visible settings can be seen.
Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
Stefan
1. How are you flashing in mobile Odin?
2. What rom are you trying to flash?
3. What exactly happens?
4. Are you sure you have full root (DL an app from play store to check)?

nice one..
what rom are you from.. if you have root then install ClockWorkMod and flash Safe kernel such as Speedmod 3-15 and Hydracore,, after flashing safe kernel go to Advance>reboot recovery and flash Custom Rom.

Is ClockWorkMod safe with Samsung Note on ICS?
Depends which kernel, you need a non stock kernel to be completely safe.

Rom is the platform itself, Kernel governs all the hardware. Simply put

Rom flash usually includes kernel, then flash required kernel after.

Ok I think I understand.
What ROM would you recommend for tge Samsung Galaxy Note N7000?
Appreciate your help.
You obviously really need to do some reading before flashing anything. Start with the stickies.

How to go back to complete stock from rooted custom rom?

I just rooted and installed cm10 on my note and now I'm wondering how to get back to complete stock so I can get OTAs and updates over kies... Anyone know?
thanks

Just flash stock rom with pc Odin, simples.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Will that unroot it too? Or do I not need to unroot to get OTAs and Kies compatibility?

If you flash stock rom, it will unroot and remove cwm also.

Hmm, and I can use Odin to flash a stock ROM over cm10? I've never used Odin before, why cant I just flash the stock ROM over cwm?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
because stock roms doesn't come in the form of cwm installable zips.
Thanks for the advice so far guys, just a few more things:
do I need to go back to a GB rom before flashing a stock ICS ROM via Odin?
I saw in this thread that says it's optional: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
And just to make sure, if I do flash back to a stock ICS ROM via Odin, it will overwrite my current kernal/root right?

You can flash straight to ics but remember you'll then be on unsafe kernel. Do wipes before flashing.
Yes, flashing stock will overwrite kernel.

You can try some kernel which works with froyo rom.. you want an untethered method so it needs to be a flashable zip or you can use kernel flasher app for galaxy s and use .tar kernel file to flash the custom kernel.. this will root your device.

This is a very old method.. What I'll suggest is going to darkyrom.com and get the 10.2 Resurrection Odin version.. Flash that and you'll have a rooted GB ROM.. Then you can flash CM 10.1 from recovery

well then you can try using the z4root method too... I remember when I bought my SGS way back in 2010, I used that method only to root my froyo based SGS..

once rooted you can use rom manager to flash CWM recovery.. it'll download and flash it.. no need to use odin .. and also once you are rooted you can use mobile odin too (though its paid I think.. rom manager free version comes which will do the work).

Mobile Odin pro is for $5. Free version doesn't preserve root.
I will hopefully try your suggestion.
