if stock ics and unsafe kernel then flash safe kernel and go there settings storage and do it there. Take out external to be safe. Not you might want to backup fotos fron dcim folder.
If gb, then go to settings then storage, etc
Its all in user manual
edit: at own risk, also note warrantee issue when changing kernel.

Thanks guys but do i have t backup anyfile from internal sd or just format sd and reboot
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Copy DCIM folder, which may contains camera pic(depend on setting in camera app)
Plus copy if any media file you have manually keep on Int SD card (eg music/video)
Rest of files and folder will recreate, but yes some data you have to download again. That totally depends on which application you have installed. But sure by downloading again you can get it back.
You'll loose games' progressions, apps' settings... Just be sure to backup with an appropriate way (eg: Titanium backup, also lots of them need root)
games level, App setting stores in Int memory card??

Well, my bad...
Let's say that it could be the case if he used an app2sd app like DroidsAll ^^'
Still confirm one more time.
I never have used app2sd, but afaik it just sends some portion of appl to sd to make room and it can not b use to backup and you will have to reinstall appl to get it work so no meaning to keep that portion of data.
May b i m wrong, as earlier i said i have never move any app to sd with such appl.

Installing Angry Birds Star Wars from Google Market!

I was trying to install the game from Google Play but unfortunately it says insufficient space. though i have 50 mb internal mb space(via forcing my apps to sd card).
I have tried apps like "Market Fix".
My sd card is class 4 so cant use it for internal memory(read abt those methods to inc. internal memory).
Any suggestion??
Unfortunately had to download the apk.
Tried link2sd?
I've 74 installed apps and 105MB free on system.

Use root explorer to link app data to system. Works fine for me. (btw this is to make additional internal space)

Force close
Clear cache
Clear data

You will need more than 50mb as the ace will stop installing apps if less than 15mb remains after it installs. You would need about 70mb

hmm i had 50 mb internal space free not 70 mb.
i hav heard some apps can change the default download path to sd card so all temp files will be on it and then after download is complete it would get installed.
are there actually any?

Remove bloatware from system/app to make additional space first. Recommend freezing apps first before removal. Also copy apk to sd in case you want it again.
Open link2sd
List all apps
Sort by data size
Click on app with biggest data file
Note data name
Open root explorer
Find data folder
Press and hold folder
Move folder to system/app
Press and hold folder
Select copy link
Go back to data/data
Paste in link
Repeat for other apps.
Reboot
That's it done.

Linked it to sd, rebooted and back to over 100MB free space.

You need at least twice the app size in internal memory. This is because installed app and download are both temporarily on the system.
Alternatively install from market and let it fail. Then go to cache/download and move the apk to sd. Then install from sd.

Memory issue

Hey... When iam installing any app which is sd card app, phone memory is utilised along with sd card memory...it takes the phone memory even if it is moved to sd card...can u pls tell me how to over come this...???
Also pls tell me how to free up device memory...??!
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
You could clear the data and cache of the apps to conserve some space.
Only way to overcome the ace's low internal memory is partitioning your sd card and using some of the known methods to move apps to the partition:
-link2sd for stock rooted roms
-s2e for cyanogenmod based roms
-cronmod scripts for roms with custom kernels that support init.d
Yeah i used link2sd but still d problem exists... It is taking both the device memory nd sd card memory...

Go to settings-applications and move apps to sd card .
Thanks I did this but it dows not move the whole 1gig game
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Of course it won't. The galaxy note can only move stuff to internal SD. Also, games have a huge resource folder.
Surely the rest of you realized that???
I tell you what,
Use Link2SD and learn how to partition your external SD correctly, or take the easier way and use the Directory bind app found on xda to move sdcard/Android/obb to a location on your external SD and symlink it back to the original location.
Both needs root by the way.

Transfer media and apps to sd card

Hello xda world
I am new here,so i want to ask if there is a way to transfer media(pictures, songs, etc) or apps to sd card?
Also when downloading something is there a way to go to external memory and not to internal?
Thanks in advance
P.S. Sorry for bad English!

You clean send pics audio to sd card without at problems.
To send apps to sd card you will need root, if you have root use app called link2sd to send apps to sd,and use a program called folder mount to send game data to sd card.
By using these you will gain over 2-3gig of internal memory
But you will need root for these to work
Both are available on play store

You need to create a partition on your extnal card I use fat32 as stock rom supports this.
I have 32gig card and have a ext partition of about 3gig.
If you read this thread it explains what you need and if you have any issues better to ask there.
