I read online that it is possible to install the base Android 2.3.4 on the LG Thrill 4G.
http://m.answers.downloadatoz.com/q,14906,how-to-update-lg-thrill-4g-to-android-2-3-4-firmware.html
Above referenced is the website describing how to install 2.3.4 I just would like more information from someone more knowledgeable about the Thrill and Android. Is it actually possible and will 2.3.4 fully function on this phone?

WHY should it be deleted why wont anyone explain what they say..
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
Because 2.3.4 is not out for this device yet. And if you flash some random devices ROM on to your thrill its not going to work. But if you want to try and flash it. Go for it. But be fore warned, its not going to work. But if you must, flash the rom and see what happens.

Basically, that page is telling you to do something that just isn't possible at this time. In order to install CM7 (what that page is suggesting), someone will have to port it to our specific device. There are going to be things that will need drivers, recompiling, etc. before it can be installed on a Thrill.
Can we get a lock on this thread.before the flaming begins

Where's Mr. Clown when you need him?
Give the Guy a break. Everyone starts out learning like we all did. Basically the link you referenced was simply asking if it could be done, and like another poster explained a cyanogen mod would have to be created yet nobody has made one for the device yet most likely since its so new. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately LG has to build the source if you want to be able to use the 3D stuffs. We have cm7 that works but due to real3d being proprietary an aosp gingerbread build wont allow for that stuff to work.

Patience. Remember that this is a new phone. And the 3D application is still new so it takes a bit to get things optimized for specialized features on devices.
I believe they're making some progress on CM for the EVO3D. Should be somewhat applicable.

There is also progress being made on the Optimus 3D, which is essentially the same device as ours. Patience will pay off on this one.
OP: don't take all the angry/annoyed comments too personally, I think my first post here got the same reaction! Nobody is trying to be an asshole to you though, its just that the rules are pretty clear but there's a constant influx of new members who unknowingly break the rules and it annoys the devs that want to use this sub-forum for its intended use. Just read the rules and you'll be good

I was running some unofficial build of CM7 for a couple weeks this month, it was clearly made for the optimus 3d, not thrill, and I didn't even try using any of the 3d applications because people complained about it causing force closes... But other than that, it was extremely impressive! The speed/fluidity was incredible. I didn't like how it handled storage, but that was my first time using CM7 so I probably just need to get used to it.
Anyway, if you can go without 3d for a while, the unofficial CM7 port for optimus 3d is impressive! I think the link is on the dev forum in optimus 3d. Oh, and I personally didn't have any problems with my network data, so I'd suggest trying it out before flashing some other radio, it might not be necessary.
Can this post be moved to the "General" section yet since there's no "Development" going on in it?

The link in the last post is the rom I was referring to. Most of the ICS rooms can be found on the droidhive forums.
You asked a yes or no question so I gave you a yes or no answer.
I recommend waiting for an official ics if you really want blur so badly.
Or just get an ics theme for your blur rom as you wait it out.

Why not just link to it in the first place or tell him where to find it and save the forum some posts. Just because it was a yes or no question, don't mean your actually helping by only saying yes.

Some people use the xda app, which doesn't have a search button on top. I have barely used a computer to access xda in almost 6 months. On another note, finding things for the bionic is much harder than it is on many other devices. This is my first android which I had to use 4-5 different websites to find all the files I needed. With my previous phones, xda was the first place to look for something, but with the bionic, it seems like xda is the last place you want to check. With some files, it was easier to google bionic root than it was to find it on here.
I've always felt that the rooting community are the embasssadors for Android and unless we are actively developing, we should be more than willing to help others who are having problems. The more we can help them, the less they will have to bother the developers for help. While some questions are based on people being lazy, many of them are based on the user not knowing better. The bionic seems to have a lot of newer android owners which helps explain the repetition of questions. I suggest when offering help, also let the user know of the rules we go by when searching before asking.
The sooner someone can get their phone running nice, the sooner they can go show it off to their friends and help promote the growth of android. I know I used to impress my iPhone friends back when I was new with wifi tether. They couldn't get a signal and needed to use mine. A couple of those people are now on Android.

I agree with everything you said, OTHER then the search functionality. I as well only use the XDA app. But from the home screen if the app, if you click the upper right hand tabs that says "more" it has the search function there. Which would save reposts over and over in all phone forums. It is irritating to read through forums, looking for new things, and reading the same questions over and over.

I got pissed off when I got home with this phone to find out that apps could not be moved to the external sdcard.
Previous phone was a Sony Xperia Ion LT28at, rooted. The battery life just sucked on it.. So I traded for this phone (Atrix HD) thinking..
I'll go home, jump on xda.. Find the root process and be a happy camper, once again..
To my surprise.. No one had been able to beat Motorola's "security?"..
All I have left to say is...
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WORKING TOWARDS ROOT FOR THIS PHONE.. GOD SPEED!!!
I am from Ecuador and did the same thing ... I had the Atrix 4G but this sucks ... I can not believe no one has been able to break the security of motorola ... come on guys I know you can do it ... Now I'm stuck with a phone that has no root and I can not do anything .....

Don't mind him. A lot of people have a superiority complex here on XDA and consider posting a single line of helpful information, with the rest meant to bash, as a good thing. Big reason to why quite a few devs left XDA. Though I find it annoying, it can't be helped. So simply ignoring it seems to be the only way to go as he'll try to justify everything he says. We lost a decent amount of devs over in the Atrix 4G section over people like that so it seems ATGAdmin is the first arse of the Atrix HD forums.

glad someone finally said it. After owning 50 or more apple computers since the IIci, many of which have gone around the world on tours loaded with ProTools with no significant issues at all and many happy customers, I can't understand why I still buy that junk.
I bet a HP would do the job nicely, if they support it a month after I bought it.

Guys, just ignore the troll. If you don't feed it, it will go away.
Successfully rooted all my devices with a Mac. Just need fastboot and adb, everything else is identical to rooting on a PC.
In the development section there is a great post by torx which outlines the steps. But basically you first unlock the bootloader through HTC, then install recovery and flash Superuser or SuperSU in recovery. Then you're unlocked and rooted and can install Rom's.
