i have a samgsung captivate i rooted and put cyanogenmod on for my girlfriend but the camera applicaton FC every time. ive searched this forum and xda to no avail. before anyone asks it was a clean install and i wiped everything....please help!!
There are also files on /sdcard which might affect your camera. Things like thumbnails, cache etc. Try to find and eradicate those.
I've cleared those...and as an update to this thread i have upgraded to ics...now the app doesn't crash but i get a black viewfinder for photo and video (multiple apps)

I thought cyanogenmod had problems with the camera, Try flashing another ICS rom and see if it FC's
the ics rom i'm using isnt cyanogenmod btw.
no more force close but a black view instead
checkdisk your SDCard. then copy to PC and then delete every JPEG and PNG picture on SDCard.
the black screen happened before there was a sd card in the phone and without any pictures being taken and with and without a sim card...
I had this same issue before. Have you tried returning to stock to see if it happens.

Ok, I was browsing the other SGS forums like I usually do and I stumbled across this. So I downloaded it and was surprised just how fast it was.
I have alot of images saved on my phone. From my theming stuff.
This gallery loaded all of them in under 15sec. My original gallery took around 2min to do the same. Anyway check it out.
I take no credit as I didnt create it, I simply found it. I will upload link to original poster if/when I can find it again... I know it came from i9000 gingerbread leak.

I don't know if this is happening to others, but when I open an image then hit the back button, instead of taking you back to the gallery it closes the gallery. It does load a bit quicker.

Nope! If I go into a folder, I can go back. Ot doesnt take me out of the app.

I know this is a noob question, but here goes: I have never attempted to adb push anything since I always just flash things through CWM. How would I go about pushing this to my phone? I downloaded the android SDK(do I need to download anything else?)
Im pretty sure this is the same one that's included in.the comm rom. I.have about 500mb of wallpapers on my sdcard and they load in about 5 seconds with both of them.

You can just get root rxplorer and put it into data>app

Im not sure pushing to data/app will work. Im not saying it wont, I never tried...I always pushed to system/app.

Weird, but it actually seems slower to load than before. But does anyone know if the old Gallery let you set a specific lockscreen wallpaper separate from the homescreen wallpaper(long press image-more-set as)? If so, I never noticed. If not, cool new option!
Edit: reboot helped speed a lot.
Edit 2: Set as lockscreen wallpaper doesn't seem to work... So as far as cool new option goes, not so much.

sorry to bring this from the dead,but would this work on the g1 or should i hold off? the apk size definitely seems a tad larger then what i see in the g1 roms.

Hi everyone
I've finally installed the Darky's ROM (10.1 on XWJVH) and am very impressed.
Make Samsung's factory software seem really weak compared to this.
I've however noticed that when comparing to the official screenshots, that my Samsung apps still have blue tabs compared to the green and grey style on the screenshots.
Everything else seems fine however such as the settings menu for example; this shows as grey (with the green overscroll etc)
Everything else seems to be great however, just wondering whether it would cause problems in the latter maybe?
If you need screenshots, let me know and I'll get some by tomorrow for you.

Has export contacts to SD card been removed, or moved somewhere else?
It only shows export to SIM card now?
You can just reflash the ROM again from CWM Recovery. Sometimes it takes flashing twice for the tweaked theme files to really show up...

Then it is clearly a ROM specific issue, and you'll have to post in the appropriate thread.
That's strange, it works like a cream with me.
Try to download again from diffrent place
All credit goes to Nitroglycerine33, so if you like this, throw him a couple bones. He modified some files to make it work with the X2. I just extracted it from his Eclipse v7 ROM for the X2 and brought it here.
This will greatly increase your shutter speed and make your camera experience much better overall. I found the stock Bionic camera app to be garbage and was sick of waiting 15 seconds for it to focus.
I recommend using this with Gallery 3D. You can still view pics using the Blur gallery, but you won't have any options to share.
DIRECTIONS:
1) Using Root Explorer (or similar program) go to system/app and find blurcamera.apk. Mount system as R/W and rename app. I just added a .bak to the end so I could revert back if I wanted to.
***UPDATE--This is optional. Both cameras get separate icons (my reason for writing the original post as so) and now you can use stock for the FFC. Either way, Nitro said he'll get an update out soon. Maybe if you like this, you can find the thread here about getting him a Bionic. The man makes some stellar ROMs.
2) Download the attached .apk and move to system/app. Change permissions to:
XXO
XOO
XOO
3) Download Gallery 3D (if you wish) - Market link: Gallery 3D
4) Reboot and enjoy!
***You will lose your front facing camera option. I'm going to work on getting that fixed. Until then there is no known workaround.
Again, this is all Nitroglycerine33, so give him credit.
And of course, thank the MIUI team.

That's what I'm using, and I have it working fine. Did you change the correct permissions?
As far as the camcorder - it's there, just doesn't have a dedicated shortcut. It's accessible from within the camera itself.

Did you reboot after you made all of the changes?
No, bc when I try to install the new camera, it works for a second and then says "Application not Installed" Do I reboot before installing it?

Reread the directions. You shouldn't be installing anything. It is all renaming and moving system apps, then changing permissions. Once you do that, reboot and look in your app drawer.

Got it working. GREAT job...camera starts up and focuses literally 3-4 times faster than stock. That was the only real weak point of the phone in my opinion and you just fixed it!!

I love the camera...but didn't care for the video, so i reverted stock blurcamera.apk and now it pulls up the stock camcorder app wich i liked in the first place and clicking on the stock camera app brings up the miui so its a win win for me

Hello all just wondering if anyone was suffering from the same media card problems I am ......for some odd reason all my music and pics of my sd card have tripled I now have 3 of each file and one of these files can.be opened the rest all have a error or don't play can someone please help

I had the same issue. I'm thinking it has something to do with synching with google. This has happened to me on previous devices as well. I had to individually delete over 1000 songs on top of pictures. I ended up going back to the stock rooted rom (I was on blackstars rom when this happened) and re-synched and installed everything without that happening again.

Help! I cant post pictures from the camera or from the gallery in my LG optimus black's instagram. I can still view the newsfeed and interact with it (like, comment, etc). I just have a problem with loading images from the camera or from the gallery.
I'm able to reach the crop photo page but when I get to page where you choose the filters and do the other edits, the image just wont show up. If you click on the next button after that page, it will just say processing and eventually crashes.
I have Lg optimus black rooted 4.0.
I've tried re-installing the app. I even did a factory reset.
I know it's not instagram's fault because instagram works fine on my bros samsung s4 and my sisters iphone 5.
