I got my T on Monday, rooted on Thursday to get rid of all the annoying ads. As I was in Rom toolbox I found the governors list and was hoping if anyone could shed some light on a) which is best for battery and performance (with on demand my phone just stays in either 1500mhz, 300mhz or deep sleep (approx values) and I know how each governor scales, I'd like to know experience instead of explanations) and b) what the msm-dscv governor is/how it compares? I've never seen it before! Cheers!

I noticed that too.... I think conservative is a good governor.
I still don't know what the I/O options mean.

That thread talks about a few governors (19). True, but the msm-dscv governor isn't there. So we still don't know how it responds.

That question is impossible to answer...
Every kernel is different... and normally there is an optimized governor that comes with it as default... ditto with I/o schedulers...

For me, I favoured the Holics kernel 0730 with Intellidemand and noop. Seemed to work the best for me. For JB, I am using Interactive and noop.
Hi there.
I was wondering which governors and IO scheduler combinations are you using, or what would recomend for others . Im talking about ICS based roms. In order to try and help ppl i think that the combinations are suppose to be in this order:
1. Best battery life
2. Casual/daily (no much gaming, few calls, bit of data and wifi use)
3. Performance for gaming and such but still keep in mind about battery.
I found out that hellmanor kernel set with lionheart and cfq, gives me the best battery.
Didn't try anything else coz i need a ever lasting battery life.
Thanks for your participation

I have IZS with kernel 0.4. I don't have many governors, but I'm using Lionheart with ROW as IO Scheduler.
Governors and scheduler
Hello this is my first post and i wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am from Spain and don`t speak english very well. It is a pleasure to participate in this wonderful forum.
I have Jelly Bean Mackay 2.7.2 and now i´m using Lionheart with Row as IO Scheduler. Before I was using Interactive with Row but the battery life was very little.
Greetings.
I'm use to the stock firmware with IZS kernel.
Governors - interactive,
scheduler - row. Very good balance.

Although it is a different device, here are some benchmarks:
CPU Governors and I/O Schedulers
Summary of the Results
SmartassV2 won the governor benchmarks, and also performed well in the battery drain benchmarks.
The best I/O scheduler to combine with this is noop.

You can't rely on names. You must also remember that while most kernels have same governors, they are tuned in a different way.
So let's say interactive on one kernel will perform different with another kernel. Best way is to know how it was tuned and the user experience.
Like 2 same cars, same engine but with different tuning. Know how it was tuned then drive it.
Here's a reference http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369817

Two days with Lionheart/row and battery consumption is very high. I'm going to try again with interactive/row to see if it improves the consumption of the battery the Mackay Rom (ver. 2.7.2).
Regards
I have V30C stock rom with Adagio 0.1a kernel,
I'm using intellidemand governors with vr as IO Scheduler. Battery life was very good.
I'm running the Marvel 11 (N00by) kernel and I've had good luck with setting the governor to "Performance" and the scheduler to "cfq".
Can't say that this is absolutely the best, but my battery life literally doubled from 9-22 hours to 22-48 hours. I get plenty of "Deep Sleep" mode.
I read an interesting tidbit on:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26329039
I thought the most relevant thing concerning the Performance governor was:
"there is growing evidence to suggest that running a phone at its maximum frequency at all times will allow a faster race-to-idle. Race-to-idle is the process by which a phone completes a given task, such as syncing email, and returns the CPU to the extremely efficient low-power state."
I tried the last 3 days with performance and cfq, not the best, but it seems better than others, i guess there is something in that.

Currently on Mackay 2.7.6 and running the default interactive gov. with ROW I/O scheduler. Installed this ROM less than 24 hours ago. With moderate to heavy use with wifi on and off, battery is now at 63%.
Will have to try this for a week or so with regular charging cycles before I can draw any conclusions.
As someone else mentioned, the governors and schedulers for different kernels and ROM's probably can't be directly compared. However, it is interesting to compare to other people who are running the same ROMs and kernels and see what results they found.
Mi favourites are smartassv2 , ondemandx and sio and vr

When I Install Marvel ICS - Highly Customizable ROM 12B
it comes with a variety of kernels and my question is
which one of them is the fastest, more stable
because after installing my apps I feel the smartphone slow
thanks in advance for your responses

Whatever kernel you use, run "No-frills CPU Control", set the governor to either interval or performance, and set the scheduler to row or cfq.
Which is better? I think they're all solid. Most folks like Huexxx's Diana kernel. I run the N00BY "Blue".

I think you mean Interactive, that is a good governor but if the kernel has LionHard or SmartAssV2 that might be even better.
I tend to think that N00BYs is really stable. ZGK you can OC, so if that works for you it might be even better.

Yeah, I meant interactive.
Huexxx preferred interactive over all others. I really question if it makes a difference. As long as you get deep sleep mode, most users wont see a difference.
But, I will qualify:
For the N00BY kernels, interactive or performance with cfq.
For the Diana, interactive, Lionheart, SmartassV2, and row.
For ZeroGravity, I'm guessing the same.

I think with a ZeroGravity I had a few SoDs with SmartAssV2 but Lionheart worked very good.

Setup: 256Kb, 1ghz max, perf gov, eco mode
Anarkia kernel (faux hybrid 026)
All background apps were greenified.
Pictures are in this order : Sio, zen, sio plus, deadline, fiops, row, bfq
Please Note that the low CPU freq affects scores, at 1.5ghz you'll see larger values overall, I chose 1ghz for temp reasons. Also I run the test twice and post only best runs.

change your read ahead to 1024kb, it should make a noticeable difference. i bet if you test the same scheduler 4-5 times in a row, itll vary like you are testing different schedulers.

Agreed. I recommend doing 3-5 tests on each scheduler, keeping RAB constant, and comparing average results. A lot of work but you're more likely to have significant results that way. Preferably with a bit of time in between to help control for temperature.

Hello,
I have serious doubts on this application.
I have never see a Write speed higher than Read speed.
Look my random results : Read 7.3Mb/s / Write 201.2Mb/s (must be a false result)
And some of my results are twice than yours...
Deadline, 2048kb, Franco, CPU @1.5Ghz.
