Hello everybody,
I just got my SGNote 2 days back after having used the S2 for last 1 year.. To be honest sgs2 is by far the BEST phone i have used till date and maybe the note can surpass its experience but currently i am little disappointed due to lack of knowledge about proper fw and modems for the note..
my pda and csc currently after buying from shop here in china is:zsLA2 and phone:XXLA4.. btw i got my sgs2 here in china as well so please avoid comments such as i faced last year sayn china quality bad and... it was true 5 years back but gotta see to believe where this country is heading towards so please no childish remarks such as get new phone or in other country..btw phone is manufactured in vietnam if thats a little consolidation my sgs2 was made in china and not 1 day did it give me problem expect random reboots but that was ONLY due to software..
I am satisfied with the brilliant screen and smoothness of the phone on touchwiz but very unhappy about battery life..i wont blame the phone but only GB since i had similar issues on some firmwares with sgs2 as well.. but check this. my phone was full charge and on flight mode overnight and when i checkd after leaving 12 hrs idle till morning it drained to 45%.. thats jus wtf statistics since phone was untouched and drained half battery.. huh? :s
anyways if any fellow note users have faced similar problems before can you please show some support and ideas to fix this issue..
btw currently i cannot atm upgrade to ICS since i m here in china for holidays till next 2 weeks and cannot download files from mediafire and such since all blocked by great firewall but as soon as i get back to college in kl id upgrade to ICS just like my SGS2.. I just loved the upgrade on sgs2! can you believe my battery life increased from 26hrs to 38+ with similar use.. its amazing really and i am hoping to get similar performance from this note as well since i want to use this device for a year till i think about sgs3 when price goes down
CHEERS mates and any comments and suggestions very much appreciated
Some app must be causing your phone to stay awake, check the battery usage chart for confirmation.
My phone drains hardly 3 or maybe 5 % tops at night. ofcourse the data and wifi are turned off when I sleep
Here is the battery usage stats to confirm my weird battery behavior..
Btw why cant i upload my screenshot directly which is in png format..wouldnt let me saying wrong extention. Had to take pic and upload that instead.. Not as convenient but oh well

You could just rename the extension as .jpg and upload.
regarding your problem, there is something that is keeping your phone awake constantly, could be that you have turned the sync on.
Just install better battery stats and CPU spy. These will help you know what is causing the issue.
Also turn off auto sync and/or any live wall papers that try and access internet intially to check if your battery is OK.
all the best!
that's what i thought also but il tell you the exact % usage maybe..
Display:47%
phone idle:13%
remaining 6 other things all around 5%.. doesnt seem anything wrong by the looks of it.. and when i click display it says time on only 1hr.. 1 hr should not consume 47% ryt??
btw thanks rijo and anil for fast replies.. i got cpu spy and its showing 61% at 200mhz and 29% deep sleep.. my auto sycn has been off as well since before but not background data that shouldn't matter m guessing..
Use better battery stats and badass battery monitor and identify the sucker!
By the look of your screen shot, it seems battery is dropping too fast even in deep sleep. Strange.

True. Why dont you do a factory wipe and clear dalvik cache.
What is your config by the way? Are you rooted?

sorry buddy haven't begun the process of rooting yet since i only had the phone 2 days and its very hard to download the files uploaded here from hotfile and such since its all blocked here in china..
i did do a factory reset in the shop before getting because there was some chinese fw on it before and i asked to put the latest eu one they had which was
PDA:ZSLA2
PHONE:XXLA4
CSC:ZSLA2
i found a nice forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025
there are some odexed rooted and repacked files here and luckily there is one with torrent link which i can download
3*Files Wipe N7000XXLC1_N7000OXALC1 Open Europe (02/03/2012)
if you want No-wipe version, not flash "GT-N7000-MULTI-CSC-OXALC1.tar"- this will format your data

i contacted the dev if i can directly flash this using odin from pc as recommend by him on top of my LA4 without having to downgrade to KJ like chainfire recommends since i cannot find torrent for that file from CF
hopefully if dev gives affirmation then i plan to flash the odexed LC1 from odin then flash the I9220-N7000 LP1 ICS REPACK by chainfire to get ics running on my phone like s2 i had.. really miss it!
btw, can anyone provide me apk for mobile odin please since its not available in google play in china currently.. much appreciate all the help
You can definately flash that pre-rooted rom with Odin without any problems. I've done the same thing when I got my phone and have been flashing different roms since.
Eventually I wanted to check out ICS so I flashed the LP1 Repack and tried a couple of roms. At the moment I'm running Stunner 1.4.19 and that's definately one of the best roms I've ever used.
After you flash the pre-rooted rom you could try a Market fix to be able to download more apps in the store and get Mobile Odin.
As an alternative you could flash the Repack with pc Odin but that will increase the binary counter and void your warranty. The counter can be reset if you have a so called JIG which is basically just a USB connector with a resistor. Just look in the development section for more info.

thanks buddy will give the pre rooted rom a go in the morning currently engaged with rm-bm match.. intense! btw do i need to flash the cf kernel for the same fw after flashing the rom? or the pre root got cwm and su already? thanks a bunch atleast i feel safe to proceed once i collect all the files in morning.. have a good day y'all
The pre-rooted kernels don't come with CWM recovery, only SU, so you should either install it yourself or just flash a kernel with recovery, cf kernel will do just fine. Then flash the repack with Mobile Odin and then flash any ICS rom you want with recovery.

Are u sure you are serious?? you've been on XDA less than 3 months and you seem like one of the many people here who just post for the sake of posting something to increase their post count without giving any contribution to the discussion..
I have been around here for sometime and I do think I can read the model no of my phones either from the BOX and from the About Phone: Model no... and how i know you didn't even bother to read the previous posts is because in post 3 sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA is in the signature if you actually read about my issues and the helpful comments of the other members who genuinely understood my problem and suggested many possible solutions..
I apologize for being rude to you but you should not underestimate or demean the members here just because even now you have an android phone like others and feel you understand it all..no one does that's why this is such a humble and friendly community.. Cheers

Hi,
I am using stock gingerbread rom from Spice website.
Everything is ok except battery calibration.
My phone usually shuts off at 15% battery life. I have tried using batterycalibration app to delete the batterystats. Nothing happens.
If my phone shut off and I recharge in off state, then it is fixed. My battery goes down to around 5% and shuts off.
However if I recharge the phone in an ON state anytime, the same problem comes back, phone shuts off at 15%.
Is there any permanent fix for this? I can't allow phone to drain fully, shut it off for hours to recharge and then use! Very impractical!
Any suggestions?
Can something like this be done for our phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765609
Thanks
How long has it been since you flashed stock. Im using the same Rom and my phone shuts off at 5% when its on. You've to wait for a couple of week at least before battery is semi accurate

hi
yes it it very much safe.IF ur still worried walk in to any spice service center and they will give u the same for free just remember to take a copy of ur original bill
Upgrading to any rom is safe if its meant for your phone. You could also take a complete nandroid backup and flash any rom. If for any reason you want to go back to the preloaded stock rom, you can always restore the backup.
Like haree said, you could also get any spice mobile centre to do it.
However from personal experience after using the spice gingerbread rom, try upgrading to other custom roms like CM7/Andro-id etc.
They will give you a much better experience.
thanks guys .ive just upgreaded to that rom given by spice on their website.there is only minor difrrencess here and there.but nothing special.i expected more from gingerbread.now i am thinking of tring custom roms..thanks again for helping me to get rid of my doubt..

In your previous post, you were worried about nulling warantee by flashing ROMs. Note that some custom ROMs are pre-rooted, and rooting the phone nulls the warantee. However, you can always go back to your stock ROM before taking your phone to the service center and there is no way to figure out that the phone has/had been rooted
There are a lot.
There are lots of custom ROMs in the development section of our device that you can try. Currently using, MIUI 2.4.20 by Sir Zuk and no major issues at all.
Guys, I switched to ICS a month ago and boy, what a difference to battery life!
I am easily getting 24+ hours with normal office usage using IceColdSandwich ICS ROM!
On the stock GB by spice I could barely squeeze 12+ hours!
Highly recommend everyone to try CM9 or Icecoldsandwich ICS in the android development section.
Hello
When i bought my phone i loved it so much
Until the Phone start laggggging :banghead:
But after a while i installed my first custom rom the ANTONIOMESTRETTA KK9 v2 and then i found another rom called ROCKET ROM they said it is very fast (and it is and i decided to keep with the this rom until v22
And then after a while i started to hate my phone. . i change my phone's rom everyday
And sometimes every hour like today i switched to DARKYROM 3.4.1 and after that for one hour i switched to ics because now in GB there is a problem that when i downlad anything From opera browser and open it say

I love my Note it is the best android device around (trust me), I am sorry yours started to lag but then again if you start to install lots of programs and random apps it will do this (just a guess you might have unlucky).
I have tried most of the ROMs manly for testing for my linuxonandroid project, and tbh found stock to be the best for me I just love the Spen features (Although stunner in tablet UI is just well stunning).
Correctly I am on the German ICS with root via mobile odin pros everoot and I love it but it will be nice once the bricking issues are sorted for sure.
I recommend a clean install and not using titanium or any other app to restore apps, just re download those you need and I have never had any lag
I have my Note from 1 week now, and i flash a couple of romĀ“s like Criskelo Rom, Kingdroid Right now im running Stock ICS Rooted and no lag at all maybe you do something wrong
Yeah, I love my Note as well and it is fast. I am on the official ICS German (LPY) build and rooted and love it, no problems found so far for me. I used to be on Stunner version .19 and it was one of the best custom ROMs I have ever run.

lost the touchwiz lag by going CM9.
If you still have problems flash stock kk9 which is a very good stock base (well has been for me ) via PC Odin root it nd then do factory reset ect then unless you have some crap hidden from ics leak you should be running a nice clean rom
Also try wiping (format) everything in mounts and storage then flash stock via Odin and root that is the way I do it when want a really fresh install lol

I love my Note. I have had it for 3 months now and have tried nearly ever rom out there. Just due to interest. I find the Stock Roms the best also. GB Roms are very fast. But I love ICS too much. I got used to ICS on my Galaxy S2 before I upgraded. So once I got my Note I quickly jumped to ICS as soon as it was available. I was not a fan of the Chinese Leak. So I went back to GB for a while. But I have been running LPY for the past week and loved having ICS back. I have just updated to LPF Stock and so far very impressed. Its very quick n smooth :-D
I love my Note!

Hi
I upgraded my Galaxy note to latest ICS previous month, and since then my battery's lasting about 10 hours max, earlier on Gingerbread, with my kind of use, it used to last about 15-18 hours(including Wi-fi and continuous use on BT headset) or more, now when I use Google latitude(navigation), the phone dies out after a little over 5 hours(earlier this would reduce my battery by say 2 hours or so)
I was thinking I could do a factory reset and check if any unwanted apps might be eating up my battery, but as I read through the forums, word around is that it might brick my phone. I have the following concerns
1. Can I factory reset my galaxy note while on ICS(samsung Official release India)
2. Can I backup my Apps data only(I'd want to reinstall my apps, but save app data to restore later, eg..game progress, etc)
Thanks in advance for the help..

I would advice against it. I had the same ics official indian release. I wiped and my phone bricked. Because all official ics kernels are risky. If u want to know search for BrickBug app by chainfire it will check ur chip firmware and will say it is risky or no. If u want to wipe flash an older gb rom via odin, wipe on gb and then do ICS upgrade.
But please dont try wiping in ics kernel. I paid the price and now have to take my phone to service centre as nothing works.

You can do few things to clean up the junk.
Trie Root Uninstaller or Titanium to freeze all the bloatwares. These app that samsung puts makes the phone all heavy
You can find the safe removal list here :
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...SENVeXlqUm5vV0E&single=true&gid=0&output=html
Also you can take a back up of your app+data of your applications through Titanium Backup.
Then u can easily uninstall or not used games and apps, but can restore the app and your progress later on.
You can use Autorun manager (similar to startup manager on PC) and you can use history eraser to erase all temporary files and cache of applications
Hope that helps..
Thank you Aziz 981

My mum has a Samsung Galaxy Ace and she is complaining about quick battery draining and low space. I figured the best thing would be is too update it from 2.3.3 too 2.3.6.
The problem is that Kies is saying that 2.3.3 is already the newest one, so I decided I will go on the internet and look for some official 2.3.6 ROMs. I found many, and the problem is that I don't know which to install not to mess anything up.
I found many people saying that they are stuck in boot loops and their phones lag even more because of the update. The question is: Which ROM shall I use? Right now my mum has 2.3.3 XWPKY and I want to update to one of the 2.3.6 ones.
I found many:
DDKQ8 (oldest one, boot loops apparently)
XWKTM (value pack, newest)
XWKPY (in the middle) which apparently is 2.3.6.... (people are saying it's actually 2.3.3).
Anyway, guys, which ROM do you use, if you have a official one? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks.

I'm using KTM as base, it works fine, but if you're worried the little space you have now, then upgrading... xDDDDDDDD
Don't worry you can delete useless apps and free memory space
A simple tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145 (your pasted links also can serve )
Bootloop is fixed doing wipe factory reset and cache via stock recovery, after flashing the Official Firmware via Odin

Thanks man! Didn't see that thread. And about the little space: The phone is filled bloatware from Orange. Oh, I'm gonna sound like a noob now, but what is KTM? Thanks ;D Also, on the page there's some Vietnam firmware.... I live in the UK. My question primarily was which version (as in, the letters such as DDKQ8 shall I use.

Here it is where you'll get all official firmwares http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
Select your country if you want, KTM is an official firmware from Spain (android 2.3.6.) but don't matter if you flash a firmware from another site but you'll need to change maybe the modem after flash an Indian Firmware, so try to flash an European Firmware to avoid this kind of stuffs
I recommend you the Spanish KTM... Good battery duration and it's perfect as base.

Thanks for the replies. I found this site with firmwares: http://sampro.pl/firmware/android/samsung-s5830/
Holy crap. That's quite a lot to choose from... Are they all the same? Or do they come with different bloatware/lockscreens etc. Also, which shall I install so I won't have problems with the modem?

Yeah, thanks, but is the content of the ROM the same? Like the look of certain things. Eg. lock screen.

Thanks, that's all I needed to know. I also read through a thread on this ROM. Gonna flash it tomorrow. Thanks again!
Flashed and rooted it, no problems whatsoever. Do you guys recommend anything to make it even quicker/get more space/better battery life?? Because the internal space it bad. Thanks.

well, the best way >>> delete all your useless apps (I don't use gapps e.g.), which are consuming your ram (or are running in background), reduce the brightness, use low frequencies, disable sync, delete default browser and use a light one... you can try Stocklite rom (stable without bugs and all performance from stock rom)
If you are using a custom based stock rom, don't use setcpu/similar apps to set your CPU frequencies, check my signature thread , to set frequencies when android boot without to use memory space and ram consumption
Ok guys, so here's what's happening... I have tried every method I could find online in order to get my IMEI to be recognized in the CM11. At first I tried it with the CM10.2 to no avail, and now I am failing with the latest one.
When I rollback to 2.2 or 2.3.3 my IMEI starts working again. HOWEVER, even with these stock versions, my efs folder contains a DIFFERENT set of files inside. In particular I have one file LESS (I think). It is the nv_data.bin. I do not know why I don't have that file, nor why my IMEI works without it!
But the point is that I, then, cannot use that "stock" efs folder to replace the new one created when I flash the CM11! Do you see my problem?! What should I do?! I really don't want to keep the 2.3.3 having experimented the CM11! I am sending a printscreen of my "backed-up" efs stock folder with hidden files enabled to see if anyone has an idea.
Please help me out! I am desperate here!
PS: MY model is the i9000b (from brazil) which is why I do not have a stock 2.3.6 (I think).
Go back to GB and then upgrade to KK in steps.
GB/ICS/JB/KK
I know some people haven't had any problems with jumping straight to KK from GB, but the only ever time that I personally lost my IMEI was when I was on GB and installed JB, missing out ICS...

Thanks for the suggestion. I might try that in the future, I'm kind of sick of rolling back and flashing over and over again for now. The good news is that my problem is (partially) fixed. I went back to KK (CM11) and still don't have IMEI but I can call and get calls again. It turns out my stupid carrier had blocked my SIM for some reason, so at least now it's useable again!
But my battery is being eaten like it's candy, though...

After installing which ROM?
Download betterbatterystats, it will tell you what the problem is. What does even settings>battery tell you is using battery?
To help someone information is required, not to be told 'it's not working!"

I've got a nightly CM11 for I9000B running. The battery tells me it's the screen (34%), the Android System (20%) and then surprisingly a game I play not as often as the 10% would represent. I already have my brightness lowered to half and still my battery seems to be getting worse and worse.
Going to try batterybetterystats and get back to you now!
Ok so batterybatterystats is paid :/ Any other free suggestions?
How long is your full time from a charge, and how much screen on time?
