I recently bought this device and I would really like to help but with my current knowledge on rom cooking and developing I cant do much.Can anyone share any guides,books or anything that could help ?

If everybody want a custom ROM... I will ask if GlenniBoy like to create a custom ROM with me for this device (TEAM YoungDev). If GlenniBoy says Yes, then we will vreate our own homepage and upload our ROMs there.

I'm willing to develop for s5830i. But, don't have device, so i can't do anything. Though, if somebody could form a team. And, get atleast 1 rom which can be used on s5830i. Maybe a flashable stock rom. Because, i can't build from source....
I have S5830i device and i am a J2EE - Java Senior, I don't know Android development but i wish to learn, if you teach me about Android development, could be help you to development a custom ROM and those testing on my device!

nah....There are some problems with their device that causes sh to fail...So, it is hard to debug because you can't use Adb.I made one but had a few bugs,rajrocks made another one, pretty bug free, but has some problems with wifi and network...su doesn't work in most of the roms too

Unless you are going to do high levels of modding or building from source, you don't need any language expertise

I heard that s5830i has no GPU?
That's going to be really hard to make a rom for this device, because i don't think it will get anywhere near RC.

for me it's = stock rom + right kernel + nice theme - bloatwares

?? You never tried another rom, but already flashed 200 ??
The best rom is the rom that best suits YOUR needs, so nobody could really help you.
Do a backup and try for yourself.
Damn....close this thread already. You ain't suppose to be asking newbie questions like which ROM is best in the development forum.

So you make thread for opinion? If you flashd 200 roms, then We should ask you what is best rom. Com on! Just read the posts in different rom threads. How can you tell what is best rom with only two ore three posts than are stupid to even answer to this thread. I think i am going to make a thread to find out what the most weird thread here in development is. Lol

Use Darky Rom. Overclocking to 1.704 but be careful there. I overclock to 1.600. Otherwise Darky 3.1 has a nice ICS theme. Really smooth and battery life way better. Don't forget to backup first.

Recently bought a S5830i. Tried flashing a custom ROM for S5830 into it. Didnt work. "installation aborted" it said . Had taken a nandroid backup, so no harm done.
Here are my questions for anybody who can answer them :
1. How does a chipset difference matter when flashing a custom ROM?
2. Are there any custom ROM(s) for S5830i? If not, is there anybody I can request to do this?

maybe none of the ace devs here got the s5830i
I guess that when someone makes a custom rom, it is made for a particular handset. for eg if a rom is made for a full touch phone, it won't work on a qwerty phone as the hardware differ. a rom is made for particular hardware. as for the custom rom, try cyanogenmod 9, it is the best and is based on ics.

Yes I have successfully rooted my S5830i and have flashed CWM 5.0.2.6 . Referred to this thread.
It would b great if u could provide us with a custom ROM for S5830i. Have 1 quest --> will a cyanogen 9 based ROM for S5830 work on S5830i ?

My friend bricked the mobile because he thought the model was s5830 instead of s5830i.
Now I have rooted the ace with a spanish rom that removes advertising of the mobile company. But the question is, can I unlock this mobile phone anyway?

One person is working on developing a kernel but he don't have s5830i so we're having difficulties and we must try everything he develop untill something boots and works.If this happen he will add scripts and everything will be working fine.We need some developers because I'm not very aware of android developing..All help is apreciated because it's a new phone and there is nothing custom for this device...
well can someone rooted from 5830i do a simple thing..

as in kernel sources it tells to use SGY config which i doubt is correct..

They also need an Ace 2 to test it. Unless you give them one, they won't be able to develop.

I'm just saying that this question has been asked tad too many times which suggest u should read what's already in the thread. No offence though. Just a form of goodwill of reminder.

I read that to port a stock rom you must have the source code, which samsung will not release. That's the problem.

it is very difficult (nearly impossible) to make a port like that
but in S3 case the hardware of it is almost the same as N2

if you know how to run bootstrap(/system/framework/)
of other device on mine one(is it possible....???)
or how could i merge cm11 framework_res.apk of mine with tw

only thing left is kernel
