[Q] How do i get 4g on t-mobile using my i9000 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My unlocked i9000 is on the t-mobile network and I'm told that due to a incompatible radio I'm unable to receive 3g or 4g data speeds. As of now I can only receive EDGE "E". I was wondering if there was some kind of software or hack that would allow my rooted galaxy s i9000 to use t-mobiles 4g network?

Haven't heard of anything like that because it's hardware related

If you have a I9000 there is no posibility since the sgs does not support 4G. Only variants like the Samsung Galaxy S 4G (SGH-T959V) do.

[Q] Metro pcs

I might have to switch to metro pcs and i dont want another phone i was wondering if i could use the samsung captivate on metro my phone is rooted
MetroPCS uses a CDMA network. AT&T is a GSM network.
So AT&T phones will not work on a CDMA network.

Network and band selection

I have a question. My tab refuses to get 3g or hsdpa. It does just fine it ottawa where I am from but doesn't in other places. I would just chalk it up to the network but both of my captivates get 3g and hsdpa in the same area. In the process of trying as many modems as I can now.
Any explanations would be appreciated.
Running the l latest overcome.

You have to have a T-mobile sim and tab, or at&t sim and tab. If you mix them you can only get voice and EDGE data.

T mobile tab unlocked getting horrible service on att.

Like the title says. T mobile tab flashed over to euro rom to allow phone access.
I put my att sim in and it says att in the notification bar says att but i get little to no service. If it does get edge it dissapears a second later. Could this possibly be because of a bad unlock if that exists.
A side note. I am using a new 4g att sim in the tab would that make a difference

You did not mention if you checked the APN settings. I am not sure if the TMOUS AWS band is the problem on ATT.
Sorry, yes i did check the apn settings. But would the tab still show att if it wasnt unlocked. Maybe my unlock didnt take.

And just to add some info. When i first put my sim in it took a while to get service then it started to junp around frequencies. Edge then gprs then hsdpa and now nothing

You do relize that Edge speeds will probably be all you get for data FYI.

You will not get 3G since att 3G operates at a different frequency than tmobile. However you should be getting edge.
I am having the exact same problem with the unlock ? How did u get it to work exactly

Goto settings and about there you can see baseband.
No I'm looking for whether my phone is running on 850mHz or 1900mHz. I'm really just being hopeful that I missed seeing an app or new phone code or development that would make the bands accessible. This is one part of ICS I definitely don't like.

Download cpu spy from market.
I'm actually referring to the baseband or modem frequency thanks though.

No that is not possible on the N7000. It doesnt have the hardware to function with LTE networks.
