hi guys
m having galaxy s i9000 from 2 years and now i want to ROOT it
its firmware version is 2.3.3 with baseband version DDJV5 and build number is DDJV9
Let me feel you m TOTALLY NEW TO THIS ROOTING CONCEPT so please tell me some good methods to root it. also i want to run ICS on my phone so please tell me some good n BUG FREE methods for dat

Ok so you want cf-root jv9 from cf-root thread in development forum.
Then find team icssgs for dummies and follow that tutorial or click on the link of the person that didt he post and find their other tutorial which is for a more current ics rom. Once you have followed the tutorial you will know how to root, have ics and be in a position to flash any other ics rom you like. Plus the tutorial has the downloads for everything you need to get started.
You can probably head straight for tutorial without cf-root.
Then look in dvelopment thread and there is a great thread for modems.
Will try find links for you for other helpful stuff but using tapatalk today so not so easy

Sorry for all the posts but keep getting permissions issues with tapatalk today.

i have a galaxy not gt-n7000
android GB 2.3.6
baseband ver:N7000XXLA4
1 of all i need a stock ics kernel so that i can flash a custom isc on it
2 my rom manager doesnt back up current origunal rom ... is there a problem with the root !!???

I think you have already rooted your device.
ROM manager won't work on Note.
What i remember is you have rooted your device from some other site. Now look to you appl drawer, whether it having CWM application?
If yes, you have to backup with that.

All GB kernels are safe. I'm sure if you go back through some old development threads you may find them. Or just flash a Stock GB rom. Samfirmware.com

[HELP] Detailed rooting tutorial for Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070 DDLK2

Hi .
I have searched the entire forum and also been googling since days for rooting my s advance indian ver. Not yet found a solution.
However i did find a post here in xda to root s advance but support for DDLK2 firmware was absent.
Pls note that people who recently bought the phone have DDLK2 installed.(india).
It would be of great help if anybody could take the trouble to entale a step by step procedure to root the same for a novice like me.

Why don't you update to JB?
With JB, rooting is very simple(Shaaan's awesome root).
My Device : Rooted GT-I9070
ROM - 4.1.2 Stock I9070DDULP8
Kernel - CoCore-E-5.0
Recovery - TWRP

Well guys i knw support for gb rooting is withdrawn since d release of jb update. Bt i hv heard dat jb is too laggy.. currently m finding solace in my stock gb..
A root for it would hav completed my quest.
