Trying to upgrade radio / kernal / HBOOT
I don't have access to a computer, so I am NOT able to use fastboot... I know that really sucks, so please someone help me...
This is what I have now:
HBOOT = 1.33.2005
RADIO = 2.22.23.02
KERNAL = 2.6.35.7
I am constantly updating with CyanogenMod's nightly, so I am on Nightly 260 at the moment.. Please help me upgrade HBOOT and Radio and kernal, so I can have extra 15 mb of RAM... And all without a computer.. I have downloaded the new radio, but nothing more.. I just need the links to download and a step-by-step of installing it with RA-recovery...
Thanks for ANY help

I think you can download clockwork and goto the bottom and flash ra's recovery. There is another thread with the radio and hboot to flash.
I have RA Recovery.. I need the links to the ZIPs, so I can flash them in recovery and not with fastboot... also, if someone can tell me exactly what order and how to.. I currently have cyanogen6 with 1.33.2005

Look a couple threads down, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=8311392708. All the info is in there. There is also another thread bout the 15mb ram. Im using xda app so i cant give you links
nobody mentioned this? - WRONG SECTION
post it in Q&A...
anyway it can be done, but there is a higher risk of bricking.
I know there is a higher risk of bricking, but some people have done it via RA-Recovery and I figured there is someone who could help me do it..
Please

Being on a nightly makes it more difficult.
Anyway, after you do it through recovery and you brick your dream, give me the eBay auction to buy your bricked phone for a couple of bucks.
Not trying to Brick my phone... just trying to get the 15mb ram extension done without a computer...
Any help would be nice

people flip out when you ask for .zips and you get a brick speach like your a kid introuble with your parents or something. F that. i totally flashed that thru recovery. guess what! no brick! just flash in the proper order.
they are on this forum somewhere man. just search 15mb .zips.... there should be a thread containing them.
I know it is totally do-able... Just need the links to the zips.. If anyone has the links to the zips for HBOOT - RADIO and KERNAL...
Please help

Rather than looting half of London, I spent my time giving something back to the Android Community.
I've compiled this guide on how to root the HTC Legend vodafone. It's pretty simple in my opinion and I've tried to make it as easy to use as possible. I have included a lot of images and started right from the beginning.
List of Guides:
How to root the HTC Legend [H-BOOT 1.00]
How to un-root the HTC Legend
Advice on choosing ROM's

I think I've added in all the credits, but if I haven't then please tell me. I'm also making more guides for noob Android users.
Thanks for using the guide, and if you have any suggestions, please leave a comment.
N.B. Guides have since been taken down due to newer methods of one-click rooting.

I just rooted a day before you posted and believe me this are the steps I followed...and woo..its rooted
I hope this post is made a stickied
Very nice, and lots of pics! It should help a lot of people out.
Thank you. When I tried to root my HTC Legend, I couldn't find a proper guide, so I thought I'd make one to help other people out.
Hi Thanks i just swap my iphone with htc legend from my gf and planning to root the phone. this would be my only guide, hopefully no issue will happen and i will report back. the guide looks good and simple but the only thing i find is, TOO many files needed. maybe i can combine all of them and put in 1 place to help other newbies !
but i still shock to see number of files i need to root an android ! and the files are sooo big aswell ! different from iphone, you just need a website or 1 software to jailbreak it hehehehehe - relax im an android fan boy now !
Every Android device has its own rooting method. The one of the Legend is really long; but don't worry. It's not that hard as it seems. Also this guide is really good!

Error 140 means that you need to re-create the GoldCard. Your phone must also be connected as, "Charge Only". You could also try plugging your phone in another USB port. Also check that you have AndroidSDK installed.
Added another guide with some advice on choosing ROM's. I'm also working on a simple un-root guide.
How do I check hboot version - my gf has a legend

Same as DHD - figured it out.
Hi! Thank you for posting such an amazing guide! But one problem that I am experiencing though, is that why are the images unable to be viewed?
Hmm,
I've just checked the guide and everything seems to be working
K I shall try it out again.

I will PM you the images when I get home.
Yesterday, i brought my first HTC after having iphones for the past 4 years.
I brought a HTC Incredible S.
I have searched around this forum however, i am still none the wiser as to how i should root my HTC (seems a lot harder than jailbreaking), there seems to be many topics about different aspects. If somebody could point me in the appropriate direction that would be great!
Currently it is stock running android: 2.3.3 and sense: 2.1
Once i am rooted will i be able to update or will i update and then re-root?
Thanks for your time and hopefully somebody will be able to help!
This should help you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351060 don't own a HTC so I can't fully help, but that looks like a very easy way to root.

First thing. Find out the HBOOT version you are using. I understand you can do it by pressing POWER and VOLUME DOWN button together when switching the phone on.
Thanks for the quick replys, my Hboot is 1.16.000
Move on to here now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105
I flashed my rom today using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631499. Installed it in recovery via ssd then i read somewhere i needed to flash the kernel to i used boot.img and flashed it. Now its stuck on the boot logo. Please tell me i didn't just completely mess up my phone.

Somehow i managed to fix it and i got that custom rom to work. So far so good, can use the phone perfectly. That scared the well yeah out of me. I don't really enjoy the current rom but for the scare i had for about a hour or two. I will be keeping it as punishment for doing something stupid lol.
Glad you got it running if you want a great set of instructions google the Rom in my signature you have to join the site to see the vivid section and have 11 posts to see the downloads make sure to read the rules and follow them if you can't find it pm me and I will send you the link

your welcome
This happens to me sometimes. For me most of the time, it's just a bad flash and all you need to do is reflash the ROM and kernel.
Hello! My name is Kevin, but you can call me SMOR3S.. I am a nerd, brony, musician, artist, and erm... an excellent cookie maker :3
I recently got a new phone from my friend Joseph.. The Google G1 (HTC Dream).. It was free, so I couldn't complain at all... In the past, I have owned a few droids like the Motorola Cliq XT, and the LG Thrive, which honestly weren't anything special.. I already bought an unlock code for my AT&T prepaid SIM card, so that is taken care of.. I'll get into the system specs, like OS version, then I'll ask some questions...
Model: Google G1 (HTC Dream)
OS: CyanogenMod
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-6.1.0-DS
OS Version: 2.2.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.9-cyanogenmod [email protected] #2
Baseband Version: 62.50SC.20.17U_2.22.23.02
Build Number: FRG83
Okay.. That does it for the specs I think..
Joseph put this version of Android on before he shipped it out.. I'm not the best when it comes to droid modding, since I never touched my other phones before, but I would like to learn, and I would like to make my Google G1 a bit speedier..
I have a 4GB Micro SD, with everything, that I could, moved to it.. Joseph also said, that he made a second partition, and moved something to it.. I forget what he said, but he said it made the OS faster erm... He works in a Linux server facility that does things like asp.net, so I don't doubt his expertise..
My question is... What things could I possibly do to my droid, that could speed it up more.. I already looked into OCing programs, but the ones I have found, don't support my phone..
Process load time is a bit slow also.. Like using Facebook, Dolphin, TweetDeck etc... I don't have anything, other than 6 apps, on the main desktop windows..
Thanks...
Sorry if my terminology isn't the best..

ok cool your friend obviously knew what he was doing as he basically gave you an already perfectly modded phone well there are lots you could do but as said most of these include changing roms now those spects i asked you for they determin what kind of roms you can use there are lots of roms developed on here in the g1 android developmentsection.the first thing you might want to do tho is upgrade that RADIO AND HBOOT as there are now newer versions you have alot to learn but here is a lil push.
the first thing you should know is BE VERY CAREFULL DOING STUFF ESPEIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO THAT HBOOT.
you want to install a recovery you will need to know about android sdk(just a program you will use to use a computer to interact with the phone google and download it where he talks about fastboot or adb it is included in the android sdk program) amon ra recovery
here is a rom that dosnt need you to mess with that hboot cron mod rom
btw i asummed you had a rooted phone meaning it gives you full access to file system if you dont just get it via a program named superoneclick

Oh sorry... I need to read better :3
*EDIT* So I put the RA v1.7.0 Recovery on... I am still in need of updating my radio before I flash the ROM to CronMod 1.0.6.
This thread about CronMod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1641692), says, that I can have either the HBOOT as version, 1.33.2005, or 1.33.0013d. I currently have 1.33.2005, but should I update it to 1.33.0013d?. Also, what radio should I update to, cause my current radio is 2.22.23.02.
Thanks,
- SMOR3S
read up on ezterrys thread on the ram hack 2708+ update, make sure you read the whole op first as changing firmwares can result in a brick

Link, and did you read my post thoroughly?
yes I did, the thread I am refurring to will give you the .13d hboot which will give you 14mb more ram, this is HUGE for the g1 and would recommend doing this. just be carefull as playing with firmware (radio, spl) can cause a brick if you don't know what you need.
yes you can use the radio/spl you have now as it will still work with many roms, if you would like more (and in my opinion) better rom choices then I suggest changing your spl, not saying cronmod is bad, its quite good, but better with the ram hack and many other nice roms are only avalible to you with the .13d spl
