I recently bought my xt894 from china and wish to flash it with ics
I've it rooted and installed safestrap
But after I switched to safe mode enable, whatever rom I flashed, I got into the bootloop tht either blank screen or stucked in android logo.
I am new to droid 4, any help would be appreciated!!
Is it related to my gsm unlocked with chinese rom?

I'm freaking out because mine is stuck on the black screen too... I was trying to flash the XML file for Fastboot. and it just went blank (blackscreen) can someone please help. I don't know if letting the battery die is the way to go? I have it connected to a laptop at the moment. I know they said that the XML file takes a whille, but it has been an hour. I do not have any warranty as this was a trial unit given to me.
I'm not that much of a Noob, but I'm not sure what to do at this point. <<<<---- Fixed using Volume down and Power to do a "battery pull" Although I almost Removed the battery physically.
Can you still boot into the unsafe system?
If so, is the unsafe system currently ICS or Gingerbread?

ICS leaks are not fastbootable.AFAIK, unless you just meant that you were trying to fastboot flash to 6.13.219 before flashing to ICS. Either way, here we go.
Go into safestrap, safe mode menu, then disable safe mode, and restart your droid. I am assuming you at least went into safe mode before trying to flash. If so, this is why we love safestrap...makes sure you have a working OS. Let it boot up. Did it work?
If not, don't panic, there is still another solution, even if you didn't safestrap your unmodified OS (just make sure you do this next time!)
If you did backup and safestrap saved you, ignore this block below for now.
Code:
[LIST=1]Download [COLOR="Red"]VRZ_XT894_6.5.1-167_DR4-1_M1-219_1FF_01[/COLOR].
You might already have this if that's what you were trying to fastboot to. It's 1.18GB in size.
Download is here: sbf.droid-developers DOT org/cdma_maserati/VRZ_XT894_6.5.1-167_DR4-1_M1-219_1FF_01.xml.zip
(change DOT to . Can't post links yet.)
[*]dl.dropbox DOT com/u/76950573/RSDLite5.7.msi Download RSDLite and install it.
[*]Download the Droid USB drivers:
motorola DOT com/Support/US-EN/Support-Homepage/Software_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
Install them. [COLOR="SeaGreen"][B]RESTART YOUR COMPUTER.[/B][/COLOR]
[*]Turn your phone off.
Hold the two side volume buttons down together, press and hold the power button down.
Hold all 3 down until you get to the bootloader.
Press volume down to get to "recovery", press volume up to select it.
You'll see a sick looking android/red triangle icon soon.
When you do see him, press both volume buttons down at the same time.[/list]
[*]Volume down to "wipe data/factory reset", power button to select (not volume up this time.)
Confirm, delete everything. When it finishes, select "reboot system", press the power key to enter that choice.
Immediately press both volume keys together after the reboot begins and hold them until you see the bootloader menu again.
[*]Plug your USB cable into your phone and connect it to your computer.
Use volume down to select "AP Fastboot", volume up to confirm the choice.
Open RSDLite on your PC.
Press the "....." icon in the program, browse to and select the 1GB+ VRZ_XT894_6.5.1-167_DR4-1_M1-219_1FF_01 you downloaded earlier.
[*]Click "decompress/start flashing". Now wait for half an hour or so.
I believe there will be several phone restarts near the end, this is normal.
You're now back to stock GB. You no longer have to fastboot to this in order to go forward to ICS.[/list].
Now to get to ICS...
Go here. droidforums DOT net/forum/droid-4-hacks/212307-droid-4-utility-updated.html and download the tool. You don't need anything else but the main tool.
Grab your preferred ICS leak. 6.16.217 is the most recent: droidforums DOT net/forum/droid-4-roms/218610-ics-leak-6-16-217-update-zip-boot-img-crc.html
Flash to 6.13.219 if you didn't just do that.(follow the steps in the CODE block above).
Open the droid 4 tool (.bat file) after extracting from the archive. Plug your phone into the USB. Set it to debug mode. Install safestrap 1.09, root the droid.
Unzip D4 6.16.217.zip. Rename boot.img to ICSFIX.img and move it into the droid 4 utility subfolder named \files\
Copy Blur_Version.6.13.219.XT894.Verizon.en.US.zip (leave it zipped.) to your SDcard.
Go into safestrap and make a backup. Turn on safe mode. Reboot.
Reboot into Bootloader, select AP Fastboot. USB should still be connected and the droid utility open. Select option 16. (Errors might occur. This is fine.) Flash your blur.zip from sdcard. Follow prompts on utility. It will reboot, do some animations. When you see the motorola logo, let it do its thing. Once the moto logo fades out, force a reboot (hold VOL keys & power down.) Now hold vol down and press power, boot to bootloader, and select recovery. Press both power buttons when you see the dead sick android logo. Update from sdcard. Select the zip.
Let it flash. It'll reboot.
Open the droid utility. If you flash to another ICS version, UNINSTALL safestrap 1.09, and then install; the new version 2 one. Make backups. Root your phone. Use the last option on the droid utility to flash between ICS versions.
You cannot use it to flash between something like AOKP or CM9 to a normal ICS version (Yes I actually tried this, lol).
Sorry for wall of text, hopefully this helps you in some way, whether you're still bricked, or still want to go to ICS after fixing your brick.

Hello,
I have a VZW galaxy tab that was on stock 2.2, I rooted it using the market place bootstrapper and the camera and other sensors no longer functioned...
So i decided to set it back to the stock rom...
I followed the instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967175
However I was not able to get it to go into recovery mode to clear the cache and such....
Tried vol up and power but it just ignores me and keeps endlessly cycling.....
I can still get into download mode......
Any help would be much appreciated before i throw this thing out the window
i'd try downloading heimdall, and the stock sch-i800 files, boot into download mode, open the heimdall frontend, then put system into system, param into param, cache into cache, and the zimage in BOTH kernel and recovery. oh, and run zagdrivers before you do the front end part.
Use all the stock heimdall files to flash back into stock.
after you flash, it will continue to loop until you clear data and cache.
to do this, hold vol up and power untill the tab turns off, when it turns off and the samsung screen comes up, let go of ONLY the power button, but continue to hold the up button for 3 more seconds then let go and wait. that should get you into recovery in a fubar situation like yours

**** man, than id say try oldmacnuts better than life rom.
Its pretty damn near stock. and its my daily driver now. + its overclocked to 1.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1147277
just flash the kernel first via heimdall than flash the rom. works awesome.
good luck
I had a similar issue with that srock image. I downloaded a stock image from a different thread and installed it and it worked fine.
When I get to the office I will see if I can find the link.

Man I would love to... after installing the kernel i still cant get into recovery....
try this process:
here's what you should do. let's start from the very beginning.
1. download heimdall. get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755265
2. download the stock verizon files. get them here: http://www.blackmugmedia.com/Android/GT/Mirror/Recovery/CDMA/Verizon/VZW Stock/
you need all four files.
3. download the drivers for the samsung sch-i800. find those here: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...G_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.3.350.0.exe
4. unzip heimdall. go into the drivers folder, and run zadig.exe. at the top, select 'list all devices'. go to the dropdown menu, and select Samsung Composite USB (i'm pretty sure that's what it was called.) click start, and let it run.
5. open the heimdall front end.
6. put system in system (if you're flashing to ec02, then put factory in system)
put cache into cache
put param into param
put the zimage into both the kernel and recovery slots.
7. turn your tab off, and plug it into the computer using USB. hold down the power and the volume down buttons until you see the little droid dude with a shovel.
8. click the start button on heimdall.
9. wait for the flash to complete (don't unplug your device, obviously, during the flashing.) once your phone reboots, it's okay to unplug it.
10. now, boot into the stock recovery, and wipe data and cache. update to ec02
11. enable usb debugging.
12. plug your phone back in to the computer.
13. now run superoneclick for root. get that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
14. either play with it in stock, or go find oldmacnut's excellent Better Than Life Rom, and follow the instructions to flash that.
15. enjoy your tab!
I used the files from
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/samsung-galaxy-tab/140735-fix-verizon-update.html
The first link he gives 404'd but the second worked (watch out for malware on that second download site though)
The ones in the thread the op used didn't work for new for whatever reason.
I flashed kernel and rom, powered off, rebooted to recovery before it coukd even try to load, wiped data and cache, then immediately installed update to ec02 which I had cooied onto the sd from my pc.
Then did first boot and all was good.

Thanks d/l it now.... cross your fingers thanks again for all your help guys
OK....
perhaps i am too stupid to get into recovery mode after the flash????
vol up and power, release power when it turns on, hold vol up
and we should be in recovery......
but were not... arg.....
am i missing something?
I always just hold vol up... Then while holding it, press hold power until samsung logo appears. Then release both.
I thought I remember someone saying if you hold them too long it doesn't work...

ec02 third link down on this page http://www.droidforums.net/forum/samsung-galaxy-tab/140735-fix-verizon-update.html
in my list of instructions, there's a link to the dj11 files. use those, because even if your tab came to you with ec02 installed (like mine did), you have to go to dj11 first sometimes, to get a clean boot. so boot into download, put the dj11 files up in heimdall, zimage in recovery and kernel, system in system, cache in cache, param in param, and flash. it'll reboot. after it reboots, unplug it, and boot into recovery by holding vol up and power until you see the samsung logo, then releasing power. wipe data and cache. reboot. it should bring you back to stock, and then you can OTA to ec02.
Thanks boodafli, the links in your instructions are dead, do you happen to know of a different source?
Droid 3 is Bricked
I used Pete's One Click to root phone, achieved root, unrooted, and generally had no problem. I installed Bootstrap, removed it, then installed Safestrap. Then I tried to use Pete's One Click again to try to unroot the phone. It said I could not use it on this phone. I tried it again, it started working, completed step one and then it went into a bootloop, past the twin core and into the red flashing Droid beacon and then repeat.
I read the boards, I downloaded Pete's Droid3 OTA 5.6.890 OneClick.zip and I believe I did it all correctly. My battery was charged, I got to fastboot and the following occured:
erasing userdate...OKAY
erasing cache...OKAY
sending "recovery" (9216 KB> ... _ (flashing)
And it stopped! I let it sit for hours, I retried, I emailed psouza4, he was responsive, suggested I post problem here. Help please, Thanks.
Do you have the updated drives on your computer? I'd hunt down the freshest ones and try re-running the unbrick script.
Drivers are up to date
Believe I have the latest drivers, been fooling around with my phone using different programs and never had a driver problem. Used MyPhoneExplorer to link phone to laptop, PDANet to tether and no problem. Thank for your suggestion.

Did you remove safestrap before you unrooted the phone (i.e., from the safestrap app on the phone, tap the button to remove recovery)? If not, you may have two bootstraps on the phone?
Not sure, believe so
I am not sure on this. I remember opening Safestrap and having two choices. I believe one of them was remove recovery and I believe I did this, then tried to unroot. But, if I assume I didn't and I assume I have two Safestraps on there, is there a solution? Thanks.
Seems like you need to SBF.

I thank the above posters for their suggestions but I already tried and described above what you are suggesting. I did download two versions of Pete's SBF routein and it did not work. That was why I was seeking further help.
There's only one Pete's SBF?? Did you try RSD Lite?
Got unbricked
Despite multiple efforts (an e-mails to Pete) the .bat provided in the suggestions above stalled after step 1. I finally figured out that I could download 906update.zip (230,242 kb) to my computer, place it on my SD card using an adapter (does not matter where you place it) and then placed SD back into the phone. I pushed power button down as well as the up and down vol buttons with the power buttons at the same time to get to the Boot Selection menu, pressed the down volume key, then the up key to go into recovery. You get the green robot and an ! in a triangle, hold power button and vol buttons in and down vol to "apply update from sdcard". Let it run and was fine.
if anyone knows of a post that describes the use of the items under the Boot Menu such as BP Tools et cetera, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm glad it worked, but I don't want anyone to read this and think your button combos are exactly correct. You need...
Boot with X+Power
Push volume up and down simultaneously when at the triangle screen
Use volume keys and power to confirm selections in stock recovery
Thanks for clarity
Thanks for the above. I was going from memory.

I did figure out how to root it but where i found it on here should mention to flash the bootloader cause you will get a security error if ya didnt i primarily use root for my wifi tethering when i need it
So there's no other way to root without flashing a bootloader and another rom? I really don't want to get into that anymore.
Same here.
Just want to stay with the stock v30p after rooting.
It will be great if tjat can be done

doesnt anyone know of another method, i was on that page last night for 4 hours trying to get it to work without any luck, updated drivers, was able to get phone to boot into fast mode, but whenever i tried to install the boot loader it would always just chill on waiting for device. few ppl said to unplug and replug, or manually put into fast boot but nothing worked for me, couldnt get it to install bootloader.
ok ive figured it out. I really hate when they dont post all the steps and cause so much chaos, this is what worked for me.
1.follow the links on post listed above,
2.install the flash program as admin on pc
3.with battery out plug in while device manager is open and right click on the driver that comes up and update it with the driver in hacker file
usb_drv_windows, a box will come up say install anyways.
4.reboot computer with phone unplugged then reopen device manager
5.run allinonep90.bat file, hit any button then when asked to wait 5 seconds put battery back into phone. the next page will pop up with a list of
options, select ICS bootload.er, i think it was 8 or 9 and click enter. it will say waiting for device.
6.now go back to device manager and there should be another problem driver cosmo, right click and install the same drivers as step 3, once
complete hacker will auto find it and install bootloader.
7.next step select option 6 for GB recovery. apparently ics recovery on this is for a custom rom. when its done reboot and put the ziped su_bbox
zipped file on your sd card and turn off phone by holding power untill its off.
8. while off hold volume down then hit power until it vibrates, may have to do a few times before it vibrates then release power button while still
holding volume down. when the silver lg logo comes up release volume down. and phone will boot into recovery.
9.from here navigate to where the zip file is and install, after it does it will reboot and you will now be rooted.
hope this helps ive seen sooooo many posts with ppl having same problem as me and no one posting accurate guides.

Got me through a good bit here, but I'm at the point where I can't boot into recovery. The phone loads just fine otherwise, but I can not for the LIFE of me get into recovery mode (to flash SU_BBOX). I've tried "Vol-Down + PWR", "Vol-down + 3D + PWR"... etc etc etc... I've practically tried every which way and button combination, but still nothing. What am I missing? Yes, I DID use the tool to flash a recovery. Also, when I try to shut the phone down, it won't stay off. It turns off for a few seconds, then boots itself back up. What have I DONE???

thats a bug with the bootloader, turn phone on and then hold the power button for like 8 seconds to turn it off, not t hrew the menu.
once its off hold vol down then press power button. and hold for about 4 seconds, if it doesnt vibrate to turn off, release all and repeat untill it does. it takes me about 2-3 times befor it vibrates to turn on. after the let go of power until grey lg screen, you will notice writing in the top left corner, then let go of volume button.
Help me.

options, select ICS bootload.er, i think it was 8 or 9 and click enter. it will say waiting for device.
9.from here navigate to where the zip file is and install, after it does it will reboot and you will now be rooted.
hope this helps ive seen sooooo many posts with ppl having same problem as me and no one posting accurate guides.

ok ive figured it out.

This guide was awsome but can you use factory reset after you root and if you do will the boot loader
& twrp recovery still be on there please reply back also how do you unroot if they come out with an official update for jellybean
Can't figure out how to root this device
I have been trying for a long time to root my LG Thrill with ICS 4.0.4, but I am having trouble. I've tried countless times to root the device and followed the instructions precisely from the previous posts. I have also looked at other threads and can't find anything that helps. It would be greatly appreciated if somebody helped me out in rooting my device because a lot of the previous posts are slightly outdated. Maybe there is another method to rooting this device? All help is appreciated
The solution
i rooted mine with this http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-root-lg-thrill-4g-with-android-4-0-ics.html
i recommend the second process. its much easier. Then i installed this rom. Its great!. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392309
EDIT: I accidently posted this in the wrong forum. Im have the international version, not Verizon!
I've been trying to get CM10 on my phone and somehow i messed everything up and now i can ONLY get into download mode.
Im trying to follow this guide to get back to stock:
I. Before You Begin
This will only work using a Windows machine.
This will only work on the T-Mobile US version and versions from outside the US. Do NOT use this on AT&T or Verizon versions.
II. Install the Drivers
Download the LG ADB Drivers and install them (if you don’t already have them installed from the rooting procedure you used).
III. Download the Necessary Files
Download the stock firmware for you specific device here and save it to your desktop (look for it in step 1 of the original post and make sure to choose the firmware file for your specific device version).
Download the LG Mobile Support Tool to your desktop, install it, and then close it once it opens automatically.
Download the FlashTool to your desktop (it’s the .zip file after clicking on that link).
IV. Unroot the LG G2
Turn off the G2 by holding down the power button and keeping it held down until the screen goes black, then continue to hold it for a few seconds after it goes black to make sure it shut down.
Plug the G2 into the computer via the USB cable while holding Volume Up at the same time to put it into download mode.
Right-click the FlashTool .zip file and select Extract All.
Double-click UpTestEX.exe from inside the newly extracted folder.
In the R&D Test Tool window, select the following for each option listed:
Select Type – 3GQCT
PhoneMode – DIAG
Select KDZ file – Click this and select the .kdz file we downloaded in the previous section.
Click Normal web upgrade test.
Click Upgrade Start in the new popup window that appears.
Select Republic of Korea and English for the Country and Language window that appears after that.
Click OK.
When it finished flashing and is all done, turn off the phone and then turn it back on by holding down Power and Volume Down until a screen comes up.
Select Reset (this will finish erasing everything off the device and bringing it back to stock).
Click to collapse
I get to step where i click upgrade start but i dont get any window where im supposed to select language.
Instead LG Mobile Support Tool starts up and nothing happens.
I dont understand what im doing wrong. Please help me. :/

Have you tried updating the united device drivers?
Sent from my VS980 4G
Do you still have a custom recovery? This happened to me, the same thing actually!
What I had to do was hold Volume Down and Power button until the LG logo shows up, then release ONLY the Power button while still holding the Volume Down button, then press the Power button again.
Or if this doesn't work,
Turn off phone, then when off, hold down power and volume down button until it reaches the LG logo and then release both buttons and hold it down again.
You will see a screen that says something like: Hard reset/ factory reset. Just follow the steps stated on screen until it boots you into recovery.
For me it took me to my recovery screen, where I just flashed a older ROM onto it. I then later flashed a recovery file.
It does take me a few times to get into that.
If that doesn't work, I don't know.
Thank you,
Stephen

Praise Jesus for this...I about had a heart attack. I have been rooting and installing custom ROMs since the G1...never had any issues. Was in a boot loop and could not get back into recovery for anything.
Nothing!
I rooted then attempted to installl TWRP... the phone turned off then turned on with the android ! icon... it shut off a few mins later. Now, all I get is the buzz and a black screen. LG Mobile Support Tool nor my computer will even recognize the device. Am I truly bricked beyond repair?
Hello. So a while back I got a Fire 7 5th Gen tablet for Christmas. I rooted it using KingRoot downloaded from Chrome, then one day I was so stupid, you know how many places tell you to not install TWRP. Well, I did it anyway, and while booting to it, it shut off for a couple days. When I was finally able to get it back on, well on first hand, I don't think it's in a bootloop, but it will show amazon, the fire goes on longer that normal (about a minute), then after that's done it just shows a blank screen with only a tad bit of light with it. Please, help. I also have a Fire HD 7 that I can't get past the password because I accidentally erased the keyboard and it won't pop up and another fire 7 that will show amazon, shuts off, shows amazon, cuts off, and continues in the same sequence. Any ideas?

hi! I have the same problem when my unrooted fire 5th gen suddenly froze and I got black screen, how do i do this?
I'll look for the link after this initial posting and add it after. Download the proper firmware and place the .zip into the same folder as platform-tools (the folder you use to use ADB.) Follow the steps below first, to possibly resolve issues before flashing firmware.
1) power down device. If you can't, press the power button and hold until device turns off.
2) When it's off, first press the volume down button and hold it, then press and hold the power button until the recovery screen comes up.
4) Scroll to 'wipe cache partition.' Select it with the power button. You won't lose any user data or files, yet.
5) Select reboot.
6) If problem is still there, follow steps 1-2 again.
7) Scroll to factory reset and select with power button. You WILL lose all user data and files.
8) Wipe cache partition again (I do this often if I go through resets).
9) Select reboot.
10) If problem STILL persists...Repeat steps one and two. Plug in tablet to PC. Select "make an update vis ADB" or something similar.
11) type: adb sideload xxx.zip (x being the firmware file).
12) That should do it assuming your device is recoverable.

See this thread..
If I recall, I don't think a notice pops up when you plug it in in recovery/fastboot. Try plugging it in and let it get a full charge from a wall outlet. Then try to power it back on into recovery while it is still plugged in. Don't plug it into your PC until you get past the recovery screen and select add update from adb. You might have to do that a few times. I had a similar problem on my XT907 phone where it would reboot every time I got into the recovery screen and I eventually was quick enough to get into fastboot to do what I needed.

I would wait and see if anyone else comments. I have not yet had the unfortunate experience of being totally cut off from recovery. Sorry I couldn't help
I've even tried talking Amazon to giving me a replacement. I'm pretty sure his name was Ajit and he said I was off the 90 day warranty, so sadly I don't even know what to do. I did learn something though. Whilst trying to boot it into recovery it becomes stuck on the Amazon logo. What if it's in recovery, but just not showing any recovery screen. This is all I know what I can do??
So m
So my theory is that there is access to recovery, but when you're in it, it only shows Amazon until you force it off. Could this possibly help anyone fix their own fire 7 5th gen. Because if you find out anything hit me with it. It could be helpful to others reading this post.

There is no recourse if you can not access the 'stock' recovery environment. The persistent Amazon logo simply indicates the device is stuck in the early stages of booting. Sorry for your loss.
