Hi,
I backup my phone via CWM and Titanium, then I wipe my phone, installed the same ROM, tried to restore my LG Memo & Email, both does not restore my previous backup data. Here's what i've tried:
-wipe phone, install rom, restore both apps (+data) via titanium but no data was restored (or maybe it did, but my email settings and memos still absent). Tried restarting, still no joy. Tried restoring mobile access points & sms, all doesn't work. But most apps do get restored with data only a few doesn't.
-wipe phone, restore original cwm backup, everything is present with data. (I made another backup of titanium during this restore just to double confirm)
- wipe phone, install rom, install Appextractor app, selected my cwm backup, restore lg memo & email (+data), still no joy. I even tried restoring my sms backup, still no sms was restored.
- tried backup sms & setting using LG bundled backup app, restore works. But it doesn't backup apps data, just the apps (like fresh install).
-Lastly, I tried restore my previous cwm backup, reboot, go to titanium, restore my very old titanium backup files (I do keep it on separate folder), it has memo & email app but less data because it's old backup, obviously. Restore it, Works!
It seems that the problem arise when I do a wipe and fresh install rom which is exactly the same rom as previous (stock 20q from flix123) tried to restore some apps and settings but it does not get restored with data.
Please help. I need the memo I saved and emails (sent folder emails are saved locally) to restore properly.
Thanks.

... but the SMS (I suppose).
What do you think about guys?
I need to backup everything 'cause I have lag + battery issues and I want to flash a new ROM.
If you want to flash new rom then Titanium backup.
It includes SMS too, if you want specific application ' SMS backup Restore' available for SMS.
CWM. That will backup the entire ROM. Titanium only backups apps.

Hmm let me see if I got it right.
If a new ROM flash was successful then I should restore with Titanium Backup, while if it was unsuccessful then I would have to use CWM to have everything back like before.
Correct?
That's correct
Titanium only backups apps and the appdata, while CWM backups the entire ROM, so if anything goes wrong while flashing you can easilly restore without any problems. It can also be used as a second ROM, so if you want to try the CM9 build you can flash that, and when you want to go back to stock or back to the previous ROM you do a restore, and voila! you're back to your old ROM with all the settings and apps.
CWM is "idiot mode". You can't screw it up if you have a NAND backup.
Alright, thanks for clearing things out.
And in the latest versions, Titanium Backup can even restore apps and data from Nandroids (i.e. CWM backups)
Therefore CWM + TB is the perfect combo.
By the way, if you want to backup MMS on top of SMS, best app is MyBackup
I second sms backup & restore. It saves sms into xml format.
I've got a backup question.
How do you backup, flash a new ROM, and restore where you have Desktops setup the same, desktop folders setup and settings setup, but no bad "Junk" from the previous ROM?
Hey guys. I want to install my first custom ROM (Rocket ROM). The other day, I finally rooted and installed CWM. I then used CWM to make a backup to my external SD card. I was still on the factory kernel so I upgraded to the latest Samsung release (XLC1 non-wipe Germany). Now when I boot into CRM I see no option to backup. Also, when I launch the app, I get an error tat the kernel is unsupported. Was I supposed to re-install CWM after I upgraded to the new official ROM?
In any case, I am really only concerned about backing up my photos, music, SMS, SNote, and contacts. I don't care about the applications since I can reinstall them. I used Kies to do a compete backup. Am I correct in assuming I can do the following then:
1.) Boot into CRM
2.) Perform wipe data/all
3.) Install RocketROM
4.) Update to RocketROM 2.3
4b) OPTIONALLY install Speedmod kernel
5.) Restore sms, contacts, etc from Kies
WIll this work ok? Since I don't have a ROM backup and if something fails, can I just boot into recovery mode and reinstall again?
Again, my biggest concern is recovering my sms, contacts, photos, snote, etc. I don't care about apps or other settings.
Thanks!
Contact - backup with inbuilt Import/Export function
SMS - SMS backup restore application is good option(if kies do this thn fine, i never used kies)
Snote, you need to backup with titanium(read properly , i think lite version also works)
Music, photos remains in USB storage, so it won't erase on flashing ROM

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm still a little confused. in Kies, the backup option has checkboxes for Contacts, SMS, and Snote. When I rooted and installed the stock ROM, I lost all of my SMemos. I just restored them now and they are all there. Do you mean I need Titanium for the SMemo application? Is that not included in RocketROM? The video I saw on YouTube seems to show it.
A full wipe won't delete photos or music?
Thanks again!
If it is(smemo) restored from kies then what is problem now?
I said titanium can backup Smemo. I dont know whether it is preinstalled in Rocket ROM as i have never used custom ROM.
Routine flashing won't wipe photos N music, If manually you format your SD card, then only it gets erased.
Hi guys,
I just flashed a new rom -Stocklite 7.1
This is my first attempt at flashing a ROM so bare with me.
I created a Nandroid backup prior to flashing and I also copied the entire contents of the SD card over to my computer.
I am using Link2SD and an ext partion as well.
Flashed succesfully. However none of my previous apps / data show up, this was slightly unexpected. I attempted to peform a nandroid data only backup to get these by going to recovery mode then advanced data only restore.
But i got an md5 mismatch.
Basically.
I am trying to restore my apps / data and I want to keep the stocklite 7.1 ROM. NOT a full restore.
Any help?
I recommend using titanium backup for backing up your apps. But, you can probably get user apps by coppying/flashing them to where they belong.
Options:
1 go back to stock rom by restoring your stock backup, make a backup using titanium backup, flash stock lite, install titanium backup, restore your apps. To succesfully restore your stock nandroid backup use te ext4 manager app, convert system to rfs, go to recovery, restore.
2 - open your stock backup on your computer with unpacking or iso software (like 7 zip), extract your user apps (apk files), create a flashable zip to flash them to data/app, system/app as needed. You can also flash their libs and data files to data/data and dalvik-cache to data/dalvik-cache. That should restore user apps and their data to internal memory if you don't want to use titanium backup.
You lost all your data..you should have a taken app backups with Titanium Backup,Nandroid isn't enough.
MD5 mismatch is showing up because you changed the name of the backup folder ..
You can open the backup manually, and get all the data.It might or not work, that would depend oon your luck
Thanks for the posts guys!
I just wasn't thinking. I had already taken a titanium backup full backup so thats' all good!
hello, i have a couple questions about titanium back up. i have pro version and the latest titanium backup. I backed up ll my apps and then connected my phone and copied the folder of TB and pasted into my computer (backup of backups) i restarted my phone into recovery. TWRP to be exact. and i wiped cache and formatted data/factory reset. when i went into the Google store downloaded the TB app. it asked me if i wanted to restore previous id or keep new one. so i restored key. ( am i supposed to restore or keep new one? ) restarted phone and went back into the app went to restore and there are no backups. but i had a backup on my PC. so it was not a problem i just wanted to know why it did that?
Folks
I did a full backup of system, data, etc on TWRP (2.66gb total folder size) - can I assume that should I corrupt my phone somehow, I can restore from this and the phone will be in the exact state when I did the backup - all apps, logins, etc intact?
Also, I do weekly backups with titanium free edition - does titanium does the same thing or should I still do the above every few months?
Thanks

It's a complete "snapshot" of your phone as it was when you took it.
No titianium does not do the same thing. Titanium backs up individual apps and their respective data so you can restore individual apps or all apps at once. It's benefit is when switching roms where you have to wipe the phone and you can just restore your user apps without restoring any system data
I use the app ultimate backup to back up apps and data and I use the TWRP backups just as a safety measure before flashing a new ROM or update.......
I like to start a fresh you see with a new ROM, and then just install ultimate backup again, move over the back up data that I previously copied to my PC, and restore them, and this basically returns everything to how it was before due to the launcher, Nova, and its settings also being restored.
