Hi!!
I have HTC Inspire with unlimited data plan and dicide to buy a HTC vivid, swap sims cards and notice that the internet didnt work. So I called Att customer service and they said that my Unlimited data plan is not compatible with Vivids "4g Lte" beacouse of my unlimited DATA. Therfore they said if i wanted to use the phone i have to change my plan and pay for each gig.. Any way iam determine to use my phone beacouse i just paid $200 for it (NEW out of the Box hell of a deal!! ).
Any ideas
how i can use the internet?
or change vivids 4 lte to H+ like my Inspire? ***I tried to set my network type WCDMA preferred, GSM only, WCDMA only, GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto, LTE only. But i cant chage to non of them just WCDMA.
At this moment Iam using an diferrent apn that i found in the XDA forum and my mobile internet works (DL Speed 5 to 7 megas), but my Wifi Thether wont give me access to the internet. (At this moment the phone is rooted and haves super user and is s-off).
Plz anyone can help be very aprecited!!

If you have unlimited data, you should be able to upgrade to lte unlimited data and pay what you are now. I did. Talk to someone else at att.

I had to do this but it has its downside. On my att account online it reads number of mb used out of 10238976 mb so it's not really unlimited. I was also informed when I went into my att store to get an explanation, that I would be moved from my unlimited plan to the tiered 4gb data plan if I went over 4gb in a billing cycle. I'm not sure if it's true or not but I'm afraid ill lose my "unlimited" at 30 a month if I push my luck. I never wanted lte since its not available in my area but they moved me to the lte by "accident" since I bought an lte phone. No going back once they switch you so be careful. I'm constantly at 2gb a month anyway so it looks I won't be using my phone as a modem when I travel.

I will ask some one else and see if i can stay with my same contract... the thing is that they want to change my contract.
Definitely speak to someone else. You do not have to switch from your "unlimited" plan to a tiered plan to use the Vivid.

If I'm correct I believe 10238976 mb translates into 1 Terabyte, and you will likely be throttled way before you reach 1tb. It is essentially unlimited (of course you could argue that 1tb is not unlimited, but if you really do go over 1tb, you're a douche for hogging up THAT much data)
If you are going to be sticking to LTE phones, I do highly suggest you change your plan to LTE Unlimited as the speed is just awesome Even at one bar LTE hits 7 ~ 10 down and 6 ~ 8 up, which is something that HSPA+ needs full signal to achieve.

Not a data hog like you suggest but I do use about 16 gig + when I travel. Have not been throttled yet so I'm not sure when they penalize you for using a service that you pay for

For usage such as that I would expect throttling in the future, however its based on market averages.
As for OP, what the rep told you is flat out untrue. Simply goto a cor store or call care say you purchased a new phone and want to register the imei and change to the appropriate data plan. Once the rep inputs the imei he will be able to switch you to the LTE version of what you have. As for apns use the pts once they change it.

I too swapped my phones and all the rep did was register my IMEI and switch me to the LTE version of my plan.
Yup, unlimited data here as well. AT&T will do what they can to get you off of that plan.
After I upgraded my phone, when I called in to get Visual Voicemail setup, the girl I spoke with told me "it was all done". A few hours later, I started getting notifications that I was reaching my limit of 200MB on my data. She had actually switched me to the 200MB plan and never told me. I called back, spoke with a supervisor, he was very apologetic and put me back on the unlimited plan with the Visual Voicemail. They definitely have the power to do it but will try and talk you out of it.
What AT&T doesn't tell you is that they use the same Sim cards on all of their phones, even if they do not have LTE (obvious exception would be the iphone 4). So go into the store and request a new sim. they may be petty and charge you but it is better then losing unlimited data
At&t reps get paid on feature values, they could care less whether you're on an unlimited or a capped data plan. Just go to a corporate at&t store and them them change your unlimited hspa+ data plan to unlimited LTE.
If you are to lazy/stupid to figure that out then use these apn settings. Go into settings, wireless and networks, mobile network settings, apn settings.

I always hated AT&T until I got to North Texas. The store guys are great & many know more than the upper level/tier tech support folks.
I got my Vivid on release day & kept the all time best plan ever which I have had for awhile now. Family unlimited data + messaging. For $45 I get unlimited data including LTE here in North Texas, + unlimited SMS & MMS on four different lines. It was a plan from back in the messaging/data war days. My rep. here in Allen is great & they no what's a good deal & actually tell customers what is best for their situation. Over my many upgrades they have always either told me to hang on to my plan, or just known better & not mentioned it.
I'll tell you one thing for certain, dealing with the stores in Texas sure beats the hell out of the California reps or anyone at 611 support. Whenever I have issues or need anything, I go into my local store & have always gotten great service. They've even involved me with sales a time or two when a customer says something like "well you just want me to buy that one because it is more expensive to upgrade", & I'll simply all what they want the device for mostly & then explain that AT&T still pays more for the high end device, so you may as well make them pay the highest subsidy & spend a few more bucks to get a device that will last & is likely to see a few updates. Buying a Vivid, SkyRocket or something like the upcoming Sony Ion, even if you have it for two whole years, it will likely perform better in spite of age & a few drops than the free or 29.00 dollar pan tech that will never see ics, let alone any update at all.
Other stores I've been in, when living in California, I'd get dirty looks for talking to customers, here they almost encourage it.
Well, I did all you guys told me to do.. change my apn, change sim and talk with customer service. After 3 days and continued fight with ATT, my unlimited data plan is not compatible ltg. I tried talking with att supervisor, Ing, and Customer Service "every body" and the answer is "not Compatible".. Those SOB even change my plan to $30 2 gig and now i am fighting back my unlimited data. I field a case and in Feb 2 i will have my unlimited data again...
Iam really pissed off with they had done to my contract. it was a big mistake in switching my insire for a vivid ltg.
If any one had this problem please replay...
PS: for the dude how told me stupid/lazy i am not neather of those and i did all i can in my reach, for matter of fact i use about 30 gig a mounth my insire.... So ill doing anything to protect my contract.... There for iam not JAJAJAJ
I am currently on ATT with the Samsung Galaxy S III and I was thinking about switching to TMobile since they have unlimited data and also because ATT has the locked bootloader. The problem is, I am scared of switching to a new service provider. I tried asking around the office and I can't find ANYONE that has TMobile (At least not in the past year or two).
So my question is for people who currently have TMobile. How is the coverage? The speed? There isn't LTE here for TMobile but there is for ATT but I read that the 3.5g that TMobile has is pretty fast.
Any advice either way?
P.S. Please don't go out of your way bashing the other carriers, I am just asking to help me pick the best network for myself and my HTC One. If you have had both carriers, feel free to comment on both. But if you haven't had ATT, please don't bash it (and vice versa)
Once again, if you have had TMobile in the past year or so, please let me know what you think of it.
Thanks
Rob
AT&T HTC One running on T-Mobile 3G. My town finally got refarmed the phone constantly bounces around EDGE, H, and H+ = Battery Drain
But the speeds are pretty impressive, well compared to EDGE. I can literally walk around the house and have it switch between Data Speeds.
Coverage within the City is constant full bars, but now that they started refarming the area it's spotty 3G. For me though it's worth it. AT&T in my area has better coverage when it comes to the suburban areas, but the prices do not compare T-Mobile wins hands down.
Here are a couple Speed Test shots ..

It all depends on where you live. If you have service nothing is better value than T-Mobile in my opinion.
Well in my opinion I have had t mobile, Verizon and at&t. It all comes down to service I get 20-50 mbps on art lte constantly, T-Mobile can be iffy from time to time if in a rural area and well the price if unlimited plus the price of paying for the phone each month comes close to att. The one thing over the years I have learned is loyalty can go a long way and when your needing that upgrade early it does pay off being with your provider for a while. I hope this helps out and this is just an opinion of mine.
Btw the bootloader is unlockable for att

Tmobile of you got good coverage in your area.
I am in the same boat, I've had Tmobile in the past and while the customer service is 10x better than AT&T I could never stick with them due to coverage being an issue. However, the area has recently been upgraded and coverage seems to be much better so I think I'm going to switch soon. Not to mention AT&T stopped offering military discount, while Tmo has the best military discount of any carrier.
Yeah, it really depends where you live. Minneapolis area has great coverage. I plan on switching back to them in June (currently on AT&T).
Don't be afraid of T-Mobile...

So I ended up buying 2 HTC Ones from TMobile, they put a hold on my bank account for 300 dollars and then they cancelled the order. I called them to ask them what was up and they said they are cancelling all HTC One pre-orders that are placed because of an IT issue where the processing system doesn't think any HTC Ones are in stock.
But they are letting the system hit my credit to check if I can get the phone and they are charging my bank account even though they know the system will cancel the order at the end.
That along with the fact I'm not quite sure how good coverage/speed is in Toledo, OH has made my mind up. I'm staying with AT&T.
Thanks everyone for your input

Your just the guy I'm looking for. I'm currently on att with the HTC ONE, but thinking about going to tmobile's prepaid $30 plan. The coverage in Charlotte NC looks good, but I'm not exactly sure because I haven't used it. However, $30 is a great savings. While your out and about, your getting hspa +? But it switches constantly between hspa + and edge?
I know Tmobile is suppossedly refarming the 1900mhz frequency. I am currently on the AT+T 14.99 (250mb data) but want to go to the tmobile 30 dollar (100 min 5gb 4g). I am in the Albany, New York area, and would want it for the surrounding areas too (Schenectady and Saratoga). I can't din anything that shows it has been refarmed in this area yet. Any info? Is tmobile eventually going to open up all the 1900mhz towers to 4G???? I just don't want to be stuck with EDGE speeds. Otherwise, I'll just stick with AT+T. I know the big push was to get iphone users on board, so I thought they might be motivated to get this up and going quickly and use n7000 users will benefit as a result!

The Albany/Colonie area has NOT been refarmed. Only pulling Edge speeds. On AT&T I'm pulling LTE.

In Austria I have for 10€ 1000min, 1000sms and 2000Mb. For one month. How can you use note with 250mb, if I understood good. .. ?
Edit: on hspa+
Yeah, seems to be edge only for the n7000. I ended up selling my note n7000 and got a note 2 for t-mobile. Glad I did. Hspa speeds on t-mobile are really good and I understand they will be deploying lte throughout this year. I'm in the 30 dollar 5gb 4g 100 mins, and unlimited texts. I'm glad I no longer have to use android firewall to watch data etc.

This is strictly my opinion + my experience.
I was on vacation to the states for about 3 weeks and just got back last week.
my aunt + cousins bought me that exact same 30 dollar 5gb plan from t-mobile.
I traveled from San Fran, to Boston, to L.A. and also to Vegas.
This whole time I was using my n7000 to use this sim from t-mobile.
To be quite honest, the reception was really terrible and there were planty of areas that my network got dropped from hspa to 3g.
Do correct me if i'm wrong. but as far as I know, the n7000 can only do hspa+ (at max) and some type of 4g in the states.
So my point is : If you're looking to do that 30 dollar plan, make sure your area (check their website) is a LTE location and make sure your area is a stable T mobile location. Also, if you' want that kind of speed, personally I think it's time to retire your n7000 and use it as a fun phone to try stuff on while getting a better phone (such as the note 2 or the s4) as your main phone to utilize your phone plan.
Good luck, and hope this helps

H20 wireless
Unlimited talk , text , 5GB x $60
but does not support LTE
for what i know h20 wireless works off ATT as well but not sure if it gets the same reception as Go phone...
Main think im concern with cell reception i need to have reception even in the desert.. which one would work best
I obviously prefer having LTE service.. but Dont know what is ATT 3g speeds..
Just for reference. The go phone network and the att network are not the same. The go phone is only about one fifth the coverage.

i wouldnt necessarily say that.. ive had gophone for sometime now and my girlfriend has postpaid contract at&t. we both travel from miami and texas and me and her literally have almost always the same service, lte speed wise along with cell coverage. the GoPhone LTE speeds are even faster then when i was on Verizon LTE Postpaid service. id advise you going with Gophone as im sure at&t would give there customers first priority on towers over a third party company plus you also get LTE. Only difference i was told between gophone and postpaid is priority on towers but i can tell you being with gophone so far i havent seen any issues (i.e dropped calls, not receiving text, calls not going through) but take that with a grain of salt everyone's experience is different if you do choose gophone ask them to give you a postpaid sim card seems to work better lte wise when i was at the store
EDIT: okay so i found the "coverage" map on Coverage Map Link and it is definately not only 1/5th of the coverage lmao id say the only differences im seeing is certain unpopulated areas you dont get as good or any reception on gophone as you would on contract. remember to choose "GoPhone® Pick Your Plan" as the other gophone option is for by the minute.

Since im always connected to WIFI i dont go over the 5gb
wondering how the service of ST is ?
I had st for about 2 years and service was good except the 2gb datat cap but if they are doing 10gb for 55 i would say go for it...thier customer service sucks but service was good

Every one has their opinion and as always YMMV but both metro pcs and tmobile suck for dependability.
I decided to stick with at&t go phone service for the dependability in service
I have many friends that have Metro pcs or tmobile service for the same reason of having alot of data, but when were out of the city they have no reception
How good is having unlimited data if your phone has no reception. Also when we are at major sporting events sprint and metro/tmobile have also had bad reception..

Depends on where you are. All the carriers fail somewhere. T-Mobile owns townships just like att or Verizon. The key is to stay home... forever. Everyone complains about their carrier no matter who it is.
Besides, sporting events? I thought the point of pointless sports was to escape daily life. Maybe the red vs blue lifestyle applies to carriers too? Carriers are just like teams in that way I guess. They need losers to feel like winners
