My.vivid is having some problems hardware related and I'm going to go to get it exchanged however I have unlocked the boot loader and re locked it idk are they going to look.at it and tell me its void ? And is there a way to get it 100% back to stock ? Thanks
They might check it i don't know for sure but there is a thread on returning it to s on that will make it say locked instead of relocked but you will need to ne s off in order for it to work .

I exchanged a couple of my phones most employees couldn't tell you what a bootloader was let alone know where to look.

Sure s-off will get some attention today, at some point. May be on IRC. But patience is a virtue. Seems we've got all the heavy hitters comin over, so its just a matter of time...

Yea I'm sure it will come, just wasn't sure if anyone was already working on it(facepalm, dirtyracun, etc). It was about two months after evo lte release before we got soff but being the one is a global variant and has Qually chipset, I'd imagine it shouldn't be too long. No rush just curious. This thing is a beast just stock rooted. I put sense 5 on my evo lte, so had an idea of new os but love it. Screen, sound, build, speed, all BEASTS!!

+1, have never used htcdev before.....my last 2 phones I was lucky enough to be able to use revolutionary. Will gladly wait for TRUE s-off instead of half assed unlocked.
If I decide to be impatient and root with htcdev will I still be able to get true s-off once it is available? Or will I be stuck with HTC's version. Sorry for the noob question but I've never had to use htcdev to root before. My evo and evo3d already had s-off methods when I got them. Tia!

All of the recent S-OFF methods for the HTC Evo 4G LTE actually required you to be HTCDev unlocked first, so if history is any indication, you're safe.
On the other hand, don't blame me if things don't work out your way. It's your decision and yours alone.
I believe in you! :good:

Mine did that too when I activated it, I was like wtf - but I don't know if it was an ota update or not. Could have just been doing something else. I mean the phone has only been out on Sprint for a day, not really a lot of time for them to push one unless it was something critical.

Will the Internation Stock Recovery work on the ATT One?

It should work just fine buddy
Thanks Nullkill...couple of other questions then...first off Mike1986 the dev for Revolution HD Rom has a download link for the stock recovery labeled this: Download stock recovery 1.28.401.7
Is that the latest stock recovery and it should work on the ATT HTc One?
The other question is, if I wish to accept an ATT update..all I have to do is flash the stock recovery and relock the botloader for the update to come through then... correct?

Yes on all accounts. Make sure to never take a AT&T OTA though. It will lock the bootloader down like Fort Knox and you will never flash again Always wait for a dev to make a ROM that will be flashable via custom recovery. I've never seen it take them more than a couple hours to make a ROM for people once a OTA comes. Munchy cool is running a bounty to get root and custom recovery on the Droid DNA for the latest OTA which last I checked was over $500 HTC does not play around with security

I thought that if you had the unlock bin, then you would be all good no matter if you accept a OTA or not. Is that not the case then?

Not 100% but I do not believe so. At any time AT&T or HTC can stop the unlocking at HTCDEV and then a OTA could relock your phone and you would be stuck.

Oh ok...I just thought it didn't matter because some people that has the One stated that they got the bin file and that they were all set and that they would just unlock the bootloader at a later date.
Well, I at least hope the ATT HTC One Ruu comes out soon then.
I normally don't root if there isn't a way to return back to stock at the time, but this time I did..lol

LoL it will happen with HTC! Won't be long until the ATT RUU is out just make sure to grab a copy and hang on to it I've had them disappear before and couldn't find them when I needed them.
As for the other part yes you could get the unlock token .bin file and then just wait and not unlock. Now you should be able to take an OTA and then still go to HBOOT and unlock the bootloader and flash recovery. The tricky part comes in with you have no idea what AT&T stance on this might could will be. So if there is a OTA it's always best to not be the first to blindly flash it! Now I could be wrong and if you save your unlock token (unlock.bin file) you may always be able to unlock the bootloader again. I have not personally seen a OTA lock a bootloader but then again I NEVER take them so...

[Q] unlock bootloader

can sprint tell if you unlock your bootloader.
I don't think there is anything that alerts sprint when you, say, go to htcdev and unlock or something like that. If you physically give the phone to someone though, they will be able to tell if they boot to the bootloader (typically). Not 100% sure about that though, I'm new here.

If you bring in your phone and don't flash a modified hboot, then yes, undoubtedly. Will they care? Not really. Sprint's better than most carriers about basically not giving a hoot unless you manage to melt your own phone.

[Q] Can anyone confirm if the new update blocks any S-Off or TempRoot hacks?

So, my still rooted and S-On Sprint HTC M8 just received a notification that an update is available.
I AM going to eventually root and s-off this thing, but I am going to be going on a few trips soon so I figured it would be best to wait until after just in case something goes wrong so I won't be out of a phone while not at home.
Just wanted to know if anybody can confirm if the current firewater S-Off and/or Weaksauce temproot methods still work if you install these on an unmodified Sprint M8.

I think you're rolling the dice there. Even if you find one that can be S-Off'd with the new firmware on it that doesn't necessarily mean that the next person will get the same result as we have seen phones that are identical in software and firmware both fail and succeed at obtaining S-Off. In short, I think the it's always great to get a sampling of results but I do not believe we would be able to make any accurate conclusions, regarding S-Off anyway, from the data.
I suppose I am interested in knowing whether even a single M8 with the new firmware is able to S-Off with firewater but that's just the curiousity inside me.^^

Well, I'm about to give up on achieving S-Off. Being that I don't tinker with my device the way that I messed around with my previous device, I might be throwing in the towel. I'm possibly even giving up root. This is my first device that truly didn't need to be rooted.
But then again....there's free tethering....

Go root or go home. (Sorry, couldn't resist)
If you're already at home....well...you're cheating and you should feel bad....so bad that you might as well root anyway because things can't get much worse for you!
Just to let you all know....
Went back to a stock Rom, locked my bootloader, then received the .13 update(could only find .9 stock to use) then the .15 update and was able to unlock my bootloader again with the same .bin file I received from HTCDev, flash a custom Rom, and restore my root with no problems at all.
Tried Firewater again for the heck of it and it actually chugged one bottle....but then whelped me again! =/

For next time, I don't think you need to lock the bootloader to receive the OTA.

Hmm well I'd done everything else except for that and it failed so locked it and it worked. Maybe it was just a fluke but either way only took a couple seconds to both lock and unlock again. =)
Edit: Yeah pretty sure you do have to lock it if you're stuck S-On like I am. S-Off most definitely doesn't need to though.

Has the new radio helped your reception?
I can't s-off either. Big pain to go stock to get OTA's.
Wait, I admit I haven't kept up much on S-Off news, so you mean it's random if your M8 will be able to S-Off or not?
im also failed when want to s-off
how i want to unlock gsm my sprint harman kardon edition if cannot s-off ?
is there any method to unlock gsm without s-off ?

Well I noticed that in certain areas I actuallly start picking up the Spark network where I never exceeded 3G speeds in the past so that is somewhat exciting. Didn't really have any reception issues persay previously but I would say it has been slightly improved overall.....or at least it seems that way to me. Could just be towers too I suppose but meh =)

Pretty much....We've discounted "batches" being the case by virtue of serial number comparisons and, as far as I am aware, no one has been able to identify any kind of pattern to it.
You would think that the newer the phone the less likely you could s-off with it...and perhaps that is the case....but we've seen people as recent as this week go in and get one, take it home and firewater s-off with it while I've had mine for much longer and can't...maybe the ones people are getting were sitting around for a long time I guess...All pretty much educated (or not educated) guessing at this point.
