Sorry if this has been asked already but I'm stuck. I'm trying to upgrade to this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185027. Whenever I flash it and reboot the phone it's still on cm6.1. I saw the prerequisites and changed the radio but when I did that the phone just hung at the G1 screen so I went back to the old radio. Is there something else I need to do beforehand?
Here's what my bootloader displays
DREAM PVT 32B ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (DREA10000)
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.23.02
I did see a similar topic elsewhere and the person was directed to here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139 but I'm still lost. I'm having difficulty flashing in fastboot.
Hi
Have you upgraded the SPL?
Sent from my HTC Dream using xda premium
No but I've tried to do that in fastboot and that's where I'm having problems. When I first get into fastboot I see that it's searching for images and after each one it says "No image!". Then it says HBOOT or FASTBOOT USB if I connect it. Is there another way to install it? I tried through recovery with dream_2708kit.zip which has the images for hboot-1.33.0013d and radio-2.22.27.08 but it fails signature and verification.
Its best to do this from fastboot (diffrent then hboot) hold down back or camera when powering on. Connect phone, should say fastboot usb. Then put these files in same folder as fastboot from sdk package (platform tools more than likley) files needed are recovery, radio and spl. Now hold shift and right click in folder, click on opent cmd here. Now type fastboot devices. Make sure you get your phone listed. Now flash recovery then radio then spl - in this order! Amonra 1.7 something, .27.08, and .13d

I thought fastboot is the screen with the 3 skating androids which is what I see when I'm in hboot. Holding the camera button and power brings me to hboot. So I must not have fastboot installed then?

Fastboot and hboot is your spl. If you have 3 androids on sketboards you have upgraded to one of the engiennering spls that allows fastboot flashing (except for the .13d) after hboot checks for an .nbh file you should be in fastboot mode, connect to comp and look for fastboot usb in red. What does everthing on your screen say (the android/skateboard screen)

On an afterthought you get the fastboot program from the android sdk package, make sure this is installed on your computer
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Is it the fastboot.exe in platform-tools folder? I thought it was finally going to work. I found that if I held on to the back button rather than camera fastboot came on but typing in fastboot devices did nothing and when I typed in the command to install the 1st file recovery it said searching for device. Sorry I'm just really frustrated. I had no problems when I installed cm6.1 years ago. I have since moved on to the HD2, had fun trying out the different android roms on that and now I'm using the Galaxy S II. I'm only trying to upgrade the G1 because I sold it on eBay and the buyer is interested in having gingerbread on there. I thought it would be easier than this.

I think it's possible to flash this in recovery, but it's much, much secure to flash it in fastboot. But, if you mess up, your phone is bricked, then, the only way is JTAG. I have flashed my 1.33.0013d/2.22.28.25 combo with recovery thanks to demkantor, he showed me the files. I may need to do my homework if this is safe for you. But this combo gets, 14 mb extra RAM, at the cost of playing 3D Games. But really, when you do this, your device will work like a charm.
I typed in this command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0-cyan.img and it just hangs at waiting for device. I have no problems getting it to connect when I have the phone booted up in regular mode with usb debugging checked. I'm able to type adb devices and get my phone's serial number with no problems. What am I supposed to see when I'm in fastboot and type in fastboot devices?
As mention all can be done via recovery, but it isn't all that safe. You need to cange directories, change enviromental variables, or just open the cmd in the folder fastboot is in. More than likley in platform tools. Find it, put all needed files in that same folder. Hold down shift and right click within that folder, click on the option to open cmd here. Then have your phone pluged in and in fastboot mode. Now type fastbbot devices. If your serial number comes up then proceed
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Nothing happens when I type fastboot devices, it just goes to the next command line with no serial popping up. I opened up cmd from the platform-tools folder and I have the files needed in that same folder. I really don't get what's going wrong here.
You can try changing directorys first
Or add the path in enviromental variables

variable name : adb
variable value is the pat ex: C:\android\android-sdk_r18-windows\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\
make yours what it needs to be
then go to "PATH" in second box (system variables) if there isnt "PATH" add it
at the end of value add ----- ;C:\android...... the rest of your path
once done you can just open cmd anywhere your files are
fastboot and adb are in the same folder (platform-tools or whatever)
files can be anywhere on your computer
do this - open window and try adb and see what happens - then try adb devices
now you can also try fastboot, then try fastboot devices
of course in your phones settings under applications, make sure adb is checked!
or this wont do you any good
It seems as if my phone and computer aren't communicating with eachother while in fastboot. It only works when the phone is in normal mode and only then does adb devices work. I really appreciate you trying to help I know you must be getting frustrated as much as I am lol
I'm going to go ahead and try this on my old pc, the one I had used to root the phone and install cm6.1. Hopefully I'll have better luck with that than my new laptop
I'm not too easily frusterated so don't worry. You may need to remove the drivers and reinstall them so when you plug in your phone all modes are excepted. But still this is unlikley if you can use adb when phone is powered on. But still could be worth a shot to try. When you connect the phone holding power and back (or camera) do you see the phone say fastboot in red? Then when plugged in does it say fastboot usb in red?

Hey guys. I am running ubuntu 10.10 and i have successfully installed android sdk and the eclipse in their proper places and added the neccessary coding to make everything work. One problem though. When i have my G1 32B in fastboot mode, it wont recognize my phone so i can use fastboot to flash the newest radio and SPL. i know others have achieved to being able to flash it without a problem.. I have tried to troubleshoot this myself with the help of the internet and xda... but still the same problem keeps re occuring. and to tell you the truth, it is really pissing me off. I have downloaded fastboot drivers and placed them in the sdk/tools folder and moved adb to that folder as well for easier access. I dont know what else to do. If any one has any solutions or would be a help please. Thank you for reading.

The question is: can linux see the phone (plug in the phone while in fastboot mode and check dmesg)
If linux sees it and fastboot can't.. make sure its not permission issues [read is fastboot running as root? if not can your user read the USB device?] The phone identifies its self differently in fastboot mode vs. adb/mass storage mode. So don't assume the fact adb works from your normal login means fastboot will also.
linux sees it no problem.. but when im in fastboot mode, its not wanting to list the device.
Try executing fastboot as root.

ok give me 1 sec.. ill go try it our right now. i am trying to flash terry's spl and radio so i can have the extra 14 or 15 megs of ram extra because my g1 is so sluggish right now i can barely use it for anything.
Strange thing with me is that it loads a different driver in fastboot. If I have it turned on normally, in my Device Manager it shows as "ADB interface -> HTC Dream Composite ADB Interface". (I think it used to show as just "HTC Dream"). I had to switch to HTC Bootloader. :/
Edit: only skimmed. Missed anything about Linux.
He's on linux ... the drivers should load automatically.

still doing the same thing.
ok, what i did was
1. open terminal
2. cd sdk/tools
3. now i make sure my phone is recognizable while in fastboot mode so i do ./adb devices
4. then when i look at the listed devices, my phone isnt listed..
5. then i try doing sudo fastboot devices and entering my password and its still not working.
let me try restarting my laptop.. perhaps that is going to fix it..
ok, just to make my self look dumber lol.. when my phone is shut off
i pressed back and the power buttons at the same time until the white screen with the android skateboards come up.. am i supposed to then press the trackball button to get into fastboot mode?
cause maybe i am not pressing something correctly to get it to work right. ill keep refreshing this page every minute for a reply..

adb will never work if you are in fastboot mode... and fastboot will only work when in fastboot mode.
so Dont run './adb devices' run './fastboot devices' or as we mentioned to run it as root 'sudo ./fastboot devices'
ok, gotcha. when i did the ./fastboot devices, it told me the Permission denied.
im sorry, i must be really brain dead right now.. i totally forgot to checkmark fastboot as an exectuable on its properties.. now its recognizing my G1 no problem. now its the flashing that is giving me some trouble
Hope I can find some help as I ran into what seems to be a pretty serious issue. I haven't been able to find any steps that gets my phone back into booting the actual OS, so posting my specific problem seems to be the only option. A lot of thanks for anyone that can possibly help.
So, followed these instructions to root my phone and get it ready for installing a new ROM, but got stuck at instruction 18.
Which says: (a few before too)
16. OK Now the bootloader is unlocked. Time to install a recovery. In Terminal ./adb reboot bootloader
17. In terminal ./fastboot flash recovery name_of_the_recovery.img (I used recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.1-m7.img)
18. After recovery has flashed POWER DOWN PHONE COMPLETELY Then restart it
Once I did that, I restarted my phone and it loaded up clockwork recovery screen. This seemed fine, but every time I clicked to restart system it keeps on putting me back to this screen.
* I've tried clearing cache and booting, creating a backup and restoring and booting,
* I've got to the bootloader of the OS, but when I go to recovery, it brings me back here.
* I can't connect via the terminal w/ adb or fastboot as it complains it can't connect to device or just waiting for device.
* Neither the Android File Manager nor HTC Sync Manager can connect.
* I've tried only having one application installed for file management hoping that it's just a conflict, but to no avail.
* Can't use an sdcard load since there's no sdcard
* Trying a sideload doesn't work because I can't connect to the device.
I'm afraid I bricked my phone. I hope someone can offer some suggestions.
Again, thank you for your time.
Chris
You can't reboot into bootloader with a longpress of Power + Vol- button under a strong light?
I can get there, to bootloader by using the power and volume down, but no matter what option i pick it gets me back to clockworkmod. I've tried connecting then via terminal, but still nothing. Pretty frustrating.
In fastboot with the command:
Code:
fastboot devices
you can't see your phone?
If yes, flash the latest TWRP/CWM, do an erase cache and flash or sideload a rom
Right, nothing is output w/ that. Neither in bootloader or clockworkmod screen.
You've the right driver installed?
And, in device manager you can see your phone without any yellow triangle?
p.s. are you using windows, right?
Forgot to mention that, I'm on a Macbook Pro.
So Fastboot flash different recovery does not work?

So you have to add a
Code:
./
before the fastboot/adb command.
In fastboot type:
Code:
./fastboot devices
and check if you can see your device

Thanks for the command... sadly it just says waiting for device. The core problem it seems now is that my computer won't recognize the USB connection for this device.
I think I just found out what I did wrong
instead of running this:
./fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.1-m7.img
I ran this:
/fastboot flash boot recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.1-m7.img
based on command history. Crap.

Yeah, I know, only way you can get the whole process working is by adding ./ or if you wanted to put it on your $PATH variable, but that would be pointless.
Well your op says you attempted to do backups and restore, so you obviously seem to have CWM installed.

Yeah, it's installed. Just I think now because it was put on as a boot vs recovery it's treating it as the OS, possibly, so when I try to boot the system,it just boots CWM. The OS is there though, if I do a backup you can see all the files (especially proprietary stuff from HTC) still on the drive. But w/o access to it via terminal I don't know if there's a way to fix the boot problem. I can get to the bootloader,if I only it could mount to my computer from there (or even in CWM). Access to the phones drive seems to be the only way to clean it up.

As I gathered from your description, you are using a MAC.
I think you should use your friends PC to use the command to install the recovery and see if it solves the problem.
Alternatively you can use Heimdall Terminal fir MAC, which is sort of ODIN for MAC and try to reinstall your firmware.

I can use virtual box now... i'll give it a try.
I use Mac as well and I ran into same connectivity problems as you do, but it was not during unlocking, rooting.. I had a Bootloop going with some mods conflicts, anyway, not important. I used my missus win 7 laptop and there it would see it and I could fix my problems there. Mac has had issues with SdK not working.
Alas, do run the Fastboot flash recovery command if you get it talking, as you temporarily can access CWM before flashing it permanently.

I have no backup and no ROM on my phone
I can access HBOOT just fine via power + vol down
Team Win Recovery also seems to function properly
My phone is not listed under adb devices
and the worst of all, my phone won't connect to my PC!!
Here is the problem,
I got bored with my stock ROM, so I decided to try CyanogenMod 10.1. Having installed a few ROMs in the past, I felt comfortable tampering with the software on my HTC One (Sprint). I first had clockworkmod flashed and I booted to HBOOT and wiped everything I had an option to wipe. I fear this was my mistake, I also did not create a backup prior to my tampering. After wiping my phone with clockwork, I tried moving the Cyanogen zip to my phone. This is when I noticed my phone would not connect to the PC. I tried different PC's and cords. I am using USB 2.0 and the laptop even makes a ding noise when I enter fastboot usb. My phone is not listed in C: drive, device manager, or adb devices.
I now have flashed TWRP and made sure all my drivers are up to date. I installed HTC Sync Manager, which can not find my phone. I tried to send the cyanogen zip to my phone via fastboot flash zip cm-10.1.3-m7spr.zip. This failed to pass signature verification test. I thought being unlocked bypassed the sig check but I guess not. I tried to gain S-OFF using revone. I couldn't send revone to my phone either. I also tried installing the stock ruu. I got my phone to the black HTC screen and ran the ruu.exe and whammo! ERROR [155] UNKNOWN ERROR...
I'm looking for a way to move my rom zip file to my phone so I can install via TWRP. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!

Greetings.
I recently rooted my HTC Desire C with Hasoon2000's Desire C All-in-one-kit, and installed CM10 build #3 (this one).
All went well... except now my device isn't recognized in adb, outside of CM10! (hboot, fastboot, recovery). Nevertheless, when entering fastboot/hboot, the addition 'usb' still appears ("hboot usb"/"fastboot usb"), so there is definitely some recognition. The device appears in the hardwarelist when in CM10, and hboot. It seems to completely disappear in fastboot though.
I can't use adb anymore, and therefore can't make any changes to my device. Flashing boot.img is now become impossible.
I unfortunately devoted two whole days to try to solve this problem by myself, and googled for hours... but nothing works.
- I switched from a x64 to a x86 system (windows 7).
- I uninstalled and re-installed multiple HTC drivers countless times, and also tried the UnrEVOked driver several times (on windows 7 32-bit; 64 bit didn't work). There were no changes at all.
It would be great if someone could help me with this, because it's driving me insane (not to mention, it drains my productivity..).
Some details:
- HTC Desire C.
- CM10 build #3 (10-20130604-unofficial-golfu)
- Baseband version: 10.17.98.09H_1.15.98.04
- Kernel version: [email protected]#82
- CPU: Armv7 Processor rev 1 (v7l)
- Munjeni Touch v5.5.0.4 (recovery)
- Bought the device in The Netherlands, provider = KPN.
From fastboot:
- GOLFU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
- HBOOT-1.31.0000
- RADIO-1.15.9804
- eMMC-boot
- Jul 12 2012, 15:44:30
Please, someone help me... It would be much appreciated. What can I do to fix this problem?
I should mention that I'm not a programmer though - I merely follow guides on the web...
You dont need adb to flash images. You need fastboot. The command for flashing boot.img is
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
In the recovery (TWRP atleast) you have the option of adb sideload in the advanced menu..

I tried this and it gave me either an "device not connected" error, or an "unknown error" (if the last message appears, the device freezes up and I have to pull out the battery to restart it).
Whatever it was, it is now fixed... just installed the NOPE kernel successfully. :good::good::good:
Good day everyone.
I rebooted my phone one day and came into the looping Logo splash screen issue. I followed all the step which ATT (that is the carrier I have and of course they tried both Factory resets and wipe the cache) which didn't work (still looping into the logo screen). They told me I have to buy a new phone BUT why buy a new phone when I know the answer is out there. This is why I love this forum, even though I have been reading it for a day, but already learned a lot.
I can get in the HBOOT menu and also can get into the bootloader menu but when I try to recover my phone, using a program like:

It doesn't work because when it reboots the phone, the bootloader will not go into the "FASTBOOTUSB" mode which I think is the issue. The USB for the FASTBOOT never comes on with the black HTC screen (when trying to do a recovery)
If the FASTBOOTUSB would come on automatically it could help but wanted advice from you all.
Here is my phone info:

Can someone please lead me the right way to unbrick this soft bricked phone?
If you have any questions, please ask, I will be more then happy to answer.
Thank you all in advance
Firstly, are you sure you have the correct/updated drivers on your computer?
also I think you're using the wrong RUU btw unless you have a superCID phone and it sounds like you're completely stock, the one you posted is for the eu version and you need this http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...13_10-33-1150-01_release_318450_signed_2-exe/ for an att device.
Next Download this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 if you don't already have adb and fastboot and then see if your computer is recognizing adb at least when you're at the main hboot menu by typing "adb devices" once you open a command prompt and navigate to the adb and fastboot folder by typing "cd /(whatever your adb folder is called)"
If adb works you should gain s-off for your device using this http://firewater-soff.com/instructions
Now you should be able to flash the RUU following directions and in this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358738

I am not sure if I have the updated drivers but I did install the HTC sync so maybe I do. I am still a noob so sorry if this sounds very noobish.
Question question before I install the the adb program...
Should I go through this before I do anything??

I just watched the video and just want to know will it work with my issue? I know it is a general question but doesn't hurt to ask correct?
Thanks again!

Also when I typed in adb devices into the cmd prompt after installing the program it just says:
List of devices
Nothing is under that.
Any recommendation from there? Thank you again!

I just updated my first response with another helpful guide, and you need to uninstall/remove htc sync from your computer COMPLETELY. That's probably your culprit for not getting recognized by the computer.

But before you do anything else is your device still under warranty? If you send it to HTC chances are you could get a completely new phone...

Quick question.
If I run "adb devices" and it says it is trying to connect to the port number and doesn't find anything. That isn't good is it? I am in the HBOOT menu, uninstalled everything HTC related on my computer. When I run adb devices now it says
List of devices:
Nothing of course is listed.
Thanks,

Okay that's weird, sound like a connection problem somewhere. Double check you drivers, reinstall them, and then if it still won't see it then try a different USB port (the one in the back is your best bet)
Does your computer recognize that SOMETHING being connected at all? Like does it make that "ding" sound when you plug it in? haha

Also once you have removed all the HTC programs reboot your computer for good measure and then just google search for HTC USB drivers and see if you need yours updated

Ok.. uninstalled everything, rebooted, Plugged in the USB into the back. Installed the new drivers from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2217396
The computer says there is something connected because the plug in device sound kicks up just fine.
Then did this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
I don't know if that looks good or not. What do you think?
Again thank you!!!
And you not in fastboot mode are you? It would say on your phone screen

I tried with Fastboot and then not fastboot
The problem is.. the ONLY way for this phone to connect via USB to my computer is through FASTBOOT. When I select FASTBOOT it goes right to FASTBOOT USB. Otherwise it will not connect via USB
One more thing to add.
When i do a factory reset, it gets to Backup CW Package and freezes there if that tells you anything.
Last thing.. I did do this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot devices
HT35VW911121 fastboot
Is that a good? It recognizes it on the fastboot but not ADB.... hummmm

Yeaaaaah! You can only be in one separate mode at a time so you were probably just in fastboot before. Okay now I'm going to take you a different route than the RUU because you can't s off without an operating system right now which means you can't flash an RUU.
Now you need to first go here http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-...htc-one-running-android-4-4-2-kitkat-0151186/ and follow the steps to unlock your bootloader (second section), your phone might hang at the end where it reboots but thats fine we just need it to get unlocked for now.
Next download this twrp recovery img http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/m7/openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-m7.img and save it to where your adb/fastboot files are and rename the file to "recovery". After this manually reboot your phone into the hboot again and get it into fastboot mode and then after navigating to your adb/fastboot folder in a cmd prompt type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
next on your phone use the volume keys to highlight "bootloader" and press the power button. It should take you back to the main bootloader screen. Now highlight recovery and press the power button.
once twrp is booted you can set your phone aside for now... download this http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407581059 and save the zip to your adb/fastboot folder. Now type in the command prompt "adb push m7_Stock_Rooted_4.18.502.7_Odex.zip /sdcard/
m7_Stock_Rooted_4.18.502.7_Odex.zip" wait for it to finish and type "adb reboot recovery"
now go to install and select the m7_Stock_Rooted_4.18.502.7_Odex.zip file on your sd card and wait for it to install and then reboot. After you get to this point I'll help you return completely back to your stock tomorrow.:good:

No problem, and while you're doing it read all the steps on the websites before you begin and then make sure you have a general understanding before you do anything.

Thank you kind sir!
hey sorry I'm sure this has been covered but I've been trying to root my new phone for the past 15+ hours and after installing Android revolution HD one 92.04a9 through Team Win Recovery project v2.6.3.0 it now keeps restarting in recovery and then takes me to Recovery project after a htc logo screen.
This is the first time I have attempted to root a phone and I'm a noob evidently so please go easy on me. (all I wanted was to hook up my bluetooth controller so I can play FF7 with more ease) any help would be greatly appreciated as I've just moved from London to the middle of nowhere and I'm bored out of my mind without my beloved HTC
Thanks a lot Mr. Tickles
I am so frustrated with general support of HTC. I am trying to get in touch with service for two months and no luck. My next phone won't be HTC for sure, I know.

Try factory reset from twrp recovery and the flash again. Also you can try to download the zip of the ROM again to be sure it is downloaded correctly and try change the twrp version.
You are using an older version of twrp. Try updating it first to the latest version and try flashing your rom again
Get the latest one here
https://dl.twrp.me/m7/
But how do I do that if my phone wont appear in my computer any more?
Its 100% connected to my computer though because its appearing in devices printers but under the name android 1.0
You cannot enter in fastboot mode? If you can, then you flash recovery via fastboot

@istribo is right, to flash arhd you need at least twrp 2.6.3.3 or newer (latest version is 2.8.7.0) To update your recovery, make sure you have HTC drivers installed on your computer and also uninstall htc sync if its installed (but do not uninstall the drivers). Download your new twrp .img file from the link istribo posted above, save it in the same folder where you have adb and fastboot installed on your computer. Reboot your phone in bootloader / fastboot usb mode. Open a terminal window from your adb/fastboot folder and use these commands to flash the recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_file.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then reboot in recovery and flash arhd.
Note that you should also have a 7.xx.xxx.x firmware installed on your phone if flashing Android 5.0.2 Sense roms. You can know your firmware version with the command "fastboot getvar version-main"
My phone wont appear in my computer so how am I supposed to copy over the files...
sorry guys I'm going to need a step by step guide made for an idiot lol

If you press power button and volume down button it gets you into recovery. Then u choose fastboot and the you do what alray said.
right so the fact my phone wont appear in my computer doesn't matter then?
Okay sorry for being silly I've just read that properly. Problem is when I got to install adb/fast boot it says something like incorrect parameter 'sheppard'

Download the sdk tools here (fastboot and adb): https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html#Other
Download and install HTC drivers: http://www.mediafire.com/download/k7trah995whrw0d/HTC-Mobile-Driver_v4.16.0.001.exe
Connect your phone to a USB 2 port directly from your computer (no external usb hub, better to use back ports, not front ports)
Reboot your phone in bootloader mode by holding power and volume down. When in bootloader, make sure you see the red "fastboot usb" caption, if not select the "fastboot" option using the vol up/down and power key to enter. Once "fastboot" option is selected, make sure you now see the red "fastboot usb" caption.
Open a terminal window from your sdk tools folder
Type "fastboot getvar all" without the quotes en hit enter
copy paste the output here so we can see it (but do not post your IMEI/Serialno)
Then update your twrp:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_file.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Sorry I forgot to say I got my phone all working and rooted! Thank you all so much for your help! wouldn't of done it without you guys.
