Are you on stock rom cuz then you have to convert your ext partition first before backups can work
GOOD LUCK
I had the same issue on my ace and nothing fixed the issue. I deleted the backup, flashed rom again and used CWM 5 to create another backup... Working fine since then with no issues while restoring....

CWM 5 or 4...... Try flashing a nandroid backed up rom.... For ex. Aashrom (maybe.... Wrong spelling. )

have you renamed your backups and left gaps in what you've renamed them to, ie "new rom 30 04 12", instead of "new-rom-30-04-12 " cwm don't like gapp in-between words and will throw up md5 mismatch errors if you do, if this is the case, just fill the spaces in what ever you renamed them to and cwm will allow you to restore previously saved backups
Do another backup

Okay so I tried using nandroid backup and I kept forgetting which from was which backup. Ibrrnamed them and it says md5 mismatch. I tried changing it to just numbers and that didn't work. I also tried using rom manager to name the backup and it just got stuck at checking md5. Anyone know how I can rename backups without messing it up?

If u using Note then dont use rom manager. Instead use CWM build in the rom or flashed when rooting. In there click on create a backup and u can name it before starting backing the rom up!
Cheers!

If I flash CM9 (link) with CWM can I switch back to CM7 by flashing with CWM, for example can i switch back to the MiniMod X ROM(link)?
Yes you can but before and after installation wipe data and cache it's better for your phone and finally dont forget to make a nandroid backup

Yes. CWM stays intact. If that is what you are afraid of.
You can switch between roms any number of times

i did a big mess with my ace
i tried to change \system permissions to only Read.,. Now my phone just stuck at samsung logo :/
i did data reset in recovery mode & also Re-flashed the current through SD Card.. but still not solved please help me out
Edit: try it first. In cwm there's an option called "fix permissions". Try it if it can help or try following.
Well try restoring nandroid backup. Flash rom again and again after full wipes. Format cache, data etc from advance options. Flash another rom at last.
One suggestion, don't do things that you don't know about. Android is working on permissions

Hello, I've installed the CM10 Nightly for SGS1. When I started the phone the system says, that my IMEI is wrong and I couldn't do emergency calls.
I did have a backup of my efs/ folder. So I copied the imei folder from my backup to the efs folder into the new.
Now the phone don't boot up. It stays in the boot animation.
Do anyone knows how to fix it? I can't even access or delete this files without booting, can I?
Pull and reinsert batttery, download or recovery mode?

I've tried them all. Mount /data in recovery failed, too.
Efs has nothing to do with /data. You just had un lucky timing, and you data partition has gone corrupt. Also don't use terminal to reboot your phone it seems to corrupt data. For me at least. I always just turn off, and then power on again with button.

Yes I did. Now I have a tar of the complete efs folder.
I flashed CM10 Nightly again and have the developer IMEI again.
Now I want to use my stock efs/ backup.
Do I have to overwrite the whole efs folder on the root?
Yeh I think so than run fix permissions

This brought my IMEI back and the error message of CM doesn't appear anymore.
The fix permisson action was important.
If you want jb, try gnexus jb port. Smooth and stable, my gf use it for daily rom. I`ve had the same issue with the imei, so i copy the whole efs folder from backup over the damaged one, then reboot, and worked.
Regards,
Baloo

Hello Everybody,
Last week I have made a CWM backup of Stock 4.1.2 with Philz touch recovery and then installed CM 10.2.
Yesterday I flashed PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-5.11.2-signed.zip and rebooted into recovery to restored my previous CWM backup of stock 4.1.2
I did all wipes and restored backup successfully. After rebooted I can see only a black screen with status bar with three icons (battery, time and network).I hve tried for two times but same problem. Then I reinstall CM10.2 using recovery.
I didnt understand where I have mistaken.
Please tell me what to do? I want to restore my backup.
Thanks in advance.

Some where in misc nandroid settings.
You mean I have to check Preload after restore my cwm backup?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
You have to check it before restoring the backup as stock 4.1.2 uses preload partition for a lot of apks.
I really don't get what you are asking. You have to go to nandroid setting and place x besides include preload.
