New firmware received via KIES

Yesterday I received a new firmware for my Swisscom 3G Galaxy Tab when i launched Kies.
First it asked me to update Kies, then after system reboot, it suddenly asked my if i'ld like to update to the new firmware. Anxious of getting Gingerbread, I chosen yes.
Guess what ...
No Gingerbread but Froyo 2.2.1
GT-P1000
Baseband: P1000XXJMI
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build: Froyo XWJMJ
Kies did not give me any further updates after this.
So, still, no GB

Gingerbread has started rolling out and you can now update to it via Odin.

Did you read the 1st reply to the OP?!

is there a way not to do a full wipe when installing gingerbread?

I heard that firmware 2.2.1 must be installed before gingerbread can be deployed. So it is probably good that you installed it.
Now if you really want gingerbread today go to the developers section and install the Overcome rom. In its thread you'll find a great guide if followed the installation is very simple.

Same here.
But on my Tab it still says Froyo 2.2, but the kernel is the same, as well the baseband and Build.
I was hoping for GB...

Hi, You can check it using Kies software which can be download from samsung website.

Just download it, install on your PC, open kies program and connect your tab using USB cable. It will auto check if there is any update.

But here in the Forum i have seeen some updates called Gingerbread****.2.3.3 for the Galaxy Tab.
I think this are Rom's self made from other users or ?
The question is if i can install it.
Kies have no updates at the moment.

Yes there is.
You can manually update it.
Just read below forum and you will understand how.

tbh, i didnt try his step yet since my tab through my region already have update through kies.

i want to update my device with this stock rom available [stock rom][2.3.6][MULTI-LANG] P1000XWJQ8_P1000PHNJQ1_P1000XXJPZ ...in the android development forum..
my device is
PDA : P1000DDJM8
PHONE : P1000DDJM2
CSC : P1000DDJM1
m running stock froyo 2.2 ..my question is that can i update my phone with this above mentioned rom ..as in india only 2.3 is available via kies ..
and is the procedure same as mentioned in the forums via odin ..or do i need another method for update .and plz let me know about the pit file.is it necessary...

[Q] Stopped working after upgrade to Gingerbread.

Hi.
We have two galaxy tabs and was upgrading to ginger bread. One of them was succsesful, but the other one dosen't start anymore.
Donno what's wrong with it?
How can I get it working again?

You can put it into download mode and flash it with odin. Google download mode galaxy tab. Then download the stock gingerbread firmware from samfirmware.com or xda download site. On youtube there are good tutorials how to flash galaxy tab firmwares. WARNING: you will VOID you WARRANTEE

Well the download mode is the recovery and kies doesn't provide this as far as i know sry you could send it to samsung

flashing official firmware in no way would void any warranty.
You need to find the stock firmware (rom) for your Tab and then flash it via Kies or Heimdall depending on which tab you have, that should get you back up and running unless there's an actual hardware issue.

There is no hardware error, this is software.
Can someone please explain in steps how to do this and where to get the firmware and roms or is there any good how-to to do this?

Official firmware is availiable on samfirmware.com registration is free. They also provide flashing tutorials. For any further problems ask me, i'll help

Okey, I changed pit file with odin and after that it works again. I'm in keis with the device connected and in there it says this deviceversion can not be updated.
I would like to be able to update it to gingerbread in keis.
I have to devices and they are both galaxy tab 7" gt-p1000 and one of them is updates, why can't i update this one?
I get this.

So you have one on gingerbread and the other one is on 2.2, right?
Did you buy them both in the same store/ county?
What is modem etc on the gingerbread one?

Hmm modem dont really know should ask google but i'm too lazy. Maybe these two devices are a bit more different than we think... I really have no idea why kies wont let you update it, sorry. I have no galaxy tab (but maybe in some months?) but you could download the 2.3.3 from samfirmware and flash it. The only problem would be that this firmware (marked red) is unofficial. Means that you might void the warrantee.
By the way 2.3.3 is only official on italian galaxy tabs
I personally live in Austria and bought a Galaxy S2 about a week ago. I think that if it would need a repair i could easily flash it to official 2.3.3 (i am 2.3.4 unofficially) and i dont really think about warrantees.
I am not sure if you would not void the warrantee with an unofficial but not rooted os.
But if you want i can help you to get on 2.3.3. It is your choise.

The modem is the baseband listed when you go to settings > about phone

Upgrade Galaxy Tab 7 GT-P1000 2.2 Froyo to higher version

Guys,
I need help on upgrading my Galaxy Tab 7 running 2.2 Froyo which I bought quite long time ago. I plan to upgrade it to 2.3 but difficult in finding the bootloader. Can I upgrade to higher version directly instead of upgrade it to 2.3?

I have registered in this forum to get solution to my problem please.
I have this GT-P1000 that I want to upgrade but has defiled all solution.
I have tried all the methods using z4root, DoomLord etc
but refused to get rooted.
Please what can I do more
Since I will still root the Tab when I use Overcomer
I feel I need to know how to root before I start Overcomer softwares

Are you also on froyo?
If so, then you need to root only to check if you have a locked bootloader.
Otherwise, you don't need to.
If you want to risk it, just flash GB. Many people don't have locked bootloader froyo. Just saying.

I also had a P1000 on Froyo and yesterday I upgraded to GB using Kies only. I had root on the Froyo but since I didn't touch anything related to bootlocker and whatnot, I managed to upgrade via Kies.
A minor problem is that now I don't have the new Play Store, only the old market, I'm searching in order to find a solution.

I am facing the problem is Android 2.3.3 is updated to android 2.3.6 with using Odin3_v1.7 suddenly tab camera flash light glowing and power off No display
disconnecting tab to PC and again try to connect tab Odin3_v1.7, tab is detected and flashing starts with android 2.3.3 rar file proses starts and finally update fail and tab turned off, No display and No function, download mode (or) recovery mode,Tab not power on?
again tab charging in 8 hours through Samsung charger, Tab charging time no battery icon displayed, Tab connecting with PC open Odin3_v1.7 and try to connecting (val down key + power) Tab are not connecting in PC
Pls tell me any processes to recovery my tab

Maybe you flashed a ROM not made for P1000.
If your bootloader is replaced, you have a brick, unless someone know how to JTAG it for you.

Hooo No Actually First i am using update file Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread [XWJQ8].rar, It is flashing successful but tab keyboard is not working any key pressing tab display showed null null null because i am try with Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread [XXJVU].rar

I9000 is Galaxy S.
If you can't get to download mode, you are quite bricked.
There is a unbrickable mod thread. It is a hardware mod.
You can try it.
BTW, no android 4.0 official from Samsung. 2.3.6 is the last.
