Hey, my wifi always goes out and needs to be restarted while using ICS. at first it would happen like three times a day. now its a couple itmes an hour. it is very very very annoying. does anyone know a fix for this???
I don't have this problem, but do you have a wifi-sleep timer set up? Maybe an app is doing something?
No i dont. This issue was posted before in the threads but never had a solution. I always wipe EVERYTHING so i dont know why this happens with me.

It's not just you. I get MANY wifi drops as well. I don't use it often, but when I do, I get a drop every 15 minutes or so. It happens very randomly: as in not when I'm loading a page, just randomly I'll see the logo go white then disappear.
My solution? A frustrated sigh and a switch of wifi on and off.

when using fullscreen apps and just even regular browsing its a b*tch. I tried the wifi fixer app but it didnt help. Im clueless
This has been an issue for me since the first ics rom. None since have fixed it or addressed it to my knowledge.

I did no have this problem on the AOKP 4/12 build, but do have it now on the 4/30 build. No idea why.
The audio issue is also ALOT worse for me. most of my phone calls do the silence thing where there is no audio. Today it caused me to run into alot of trouble. i hope these issues get fixed soon. I think it was the bluetooth updates in the changelog that caused the problems to occur more. As they are supposed to be bluetooth related. Unforunately i might have to go back to gingerbread
I am able to use 1x data & WIFI on ICS Rom only. Neither WiFi or Data works with Stock ROM.
Before It used to work in Stock ROM, but now it does not. So I am sticking to CM9
I have this issue too but I use juice defender. I only really use it for 2 functions
1. Enable WiFi when I'm home (constantly on) and disable when I'm away
2. Turn off data at night from 1am to 6am
when i flashed ICS the effectiveness is shady. A lot of times when i turn on the screen wifi is disabled but will reenable after a few seconds during the day. also at night sometimes it won't disable until later than 1am and will randomly enable and disable at like 4 am or something. sucks because i'll randomly get a bunch of notifications for emails twitter etc. and it will wake me up.

I know that there are random reboot/freeze issues with this phone but I have noticed that my issue seems a bit different.
My phone goes into reboot loops and freezing only when I turn on the WiFi. I'm patiently waiting for the LG "update fix" but wanted some advice from the experts.
Im in afghanistan and only have until next week to return the phone. If it is a software issue then I dont mind waiting but if it is hardware then I dont want to get stuck with a 600.00 paperweight.
I know Im shooting in the dark but I really would appreciate some thoughts or advice.
BTW - I have had the same issues on custom ROM's and stock ROM's. I think I damn near flashed the phone with every possible thing i found on this board, haha.
well it seems like my issue is still isolated to wiFi. The phone has almost no reboots and very little freezes when WiFi is off. any ideas on if this is a possible hardware or software issue?
was it with every ROM you tried the same ?
It happens with every rom but I hate to get my hopes up but it seems to have start happening not as often. right now Im using this
[ROM][21/4-11]TK-ROM Vanilla + LG = true. v0.5.7 (Fr12)
couple of hours so far and it is better but not perfect.
Mine has just recently been randomly rebooting but was fine when I first got it. It never seems to reboot when I'm stationary only when I'm in the car or riding my bike. Twice it happened in the same location on the drive home from work which got me thinking it could be location related. The gps wasn't active at the time so I tried turning off wifi/cell tower location in the options. I managed a two hour bike ride with no reboots today whilst using gps tracking and listening to music. Yesterday the phone wouldn't go more than 10 minutes without rebooting.
Could it be bad location data in some mobile phone masts are making the phone crash due to a bug in the software?

Have anyone other than me experienced that the phone suddenly is turned of? It's not the BSOD or reboot, but just turned off and can be turned on right away..
I've saw it yesterday when it was in my pocket, and this morning when i woke up.
I'm using the CM7 RC1 ROM straight from the box.
Yes. I get this to... (With every build of CM that is)
Same happens to me also with the latest CM7.
Me and my brother also get this, started with cm7 57 I think

Does anyone know how to use ADB to log? Then we could maybe capture some logs when this happens and post to aremcee to see if he can help us..
The same thing has happend to me 2 times in the week a have had this replacement device. It's worse than the one I traded this one for
But I'm on stock havn't rooted or anything.
Just had a BSOD aswell.. Gotta hate this phone. It's works on stock so I can't send it to my dealer and get my money back
Install a Froyo Rom
Profit.
My findings on the CM7 sod (sleep of death) issue (I post this here, as I don't have enough posts to post it to dev area):
I've been using CM7 occasionally since the first nightly. About 2 months ago I suddenly had 3 sods in 2 days. This was after I bought JuiceDefender Ultimate. In JD I had sync enabled once per hour, and JD set to first try to connect to wifi and then mobile data. In Android wifi settings I had wifi sleep policy set to "when screen turns off".
After I set JD to use only mobile data on sync events, and turned wifi sleep policy to "never", I haven't had a single sod since. If I remember correctly, I once managed to induce a sod by turning wifi on or off (can't remember which) through the power control widget, and immediately after that I turned the screen off normally by pressing the power button (while wifi was "dimmed" in the power control widget meaning it was changing it's state).
So I strongly believe that my sods were caused by the combination of turning wifi on or off (either through widget or JD doing it) and turning the screen off at the same time. I didn't experiment any more, since I found my solution above.
I wrote this here, because people try hard to hunt down what's causing the sods, and I wanted to share my thoughts. If it is of no help, then sorry.
it happens sometime... don't trust your phone's alarm to wake up. you could have bad surprise (just had the experience 2 days ago) :'(
i am running cm7 no. 165. and vork kernel clocked to 1504 no reboots or black out issues. i also have green power managing my network data only... good luck all... just remember that cm7 is still nightly and is not considered stable.
Hi, I'm about to get one LG, but I've had the same issue with an Orange Boston mobile with a 2.3.5 CM7. I disabled Wi-Fi sleep too and it seems to help.
Before the scren weirdly shut down and the phone rebooted.
Hmm might try this out and see if it works.
I can't seem to get this issues myself. I will try and test this later on my other phone.
That is the reason why I don`t use CM7 anymore ...

Sometimes I'm in areas where I don't get the best reception (i.e. some lecture halls during school hours) and I choose to put my phone in airplane mode so as to conserve battery when the class is over. However I find after trying to come out of Airplane Mode my Revo always reboots. As far as I can remember this issue has also happened in Decrapped 1.0. The same thing happens when I turn on GPS and choose to go to Google Navigation I get rebooted. After the reboot occurs I can turn on the gps/airplane mode etc without any problems. But does this issue happen to anyone else or is it perhaps just my phone? Thanks!!
I find that my revo does the same thing with google nav beta, it will sometimes hang and reboot too. I am running stock rom with a root. When I rotate phone the landscape view is sometimes corrupted with tiny blocks instead of the maps drawn correctly. I have to exit nav app and reload
I've had the same thing happen with airplane mode. I don't really use it often so I figure I can live with it.
Same here. The Revo doesn't seem to like hardware mode changes at times. I get reboots when switching into Bluetooth occasionally.

I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one this happens to. Do you think LG will possibly release a fix? (or more people will have to raise concern about it) or possible for a dev to take a crack at it in their free time? Thanks for the feedback guys!

I'm only adding this due to the fact that I was constantly having issues when tethering with the Verizon 4g Hot Spot app. When running it, I found myself needing to reboot because the data connection would get lost and sometimes go into 3g, causing all sorts of headaches with doing things on my computer, such as redesigning websites, including my own.
What I found, though, related to this post, is using the airplane mode to kill the data connection and restart it, was getting me 4g and a few minutes to a few hours of Internet again until the next glitch.
Overall, modded, ota updated, downgraded, whatever, using that method never rebooted my phone. My thoughts are that it's possible some app might be causing that. I don't use Nav anymore, except as a last resort because it is so buggy, it would cause my phone to crash over and over, and rebooting. So, as for LG or Verizon coming up with a fix for this issue, I don't know if they would see it as one because it's not something everyone is experiencing and with as much as I use(d) that method, it never once happened to me. Please don't take that wrongly, just wanted to point out that it might be a certain app and allow those having this issue to seek another solution, maybe comparing apps installed to see a common denominator.
And, because I see a lot of posts relating to tethering issues with Internet freezing or dropping out, I found, on my LINUX machine (so far), that setting the MTU to 1300 seems to have solved that issue. I know this last part isn't directly related to the original post, but is the reason I kept using the airplane mode method and thought this added information might help someone doing what I was...
-Cybie
Sorry for the bump, but as of flashing Revolt 1.5, the issue in my original post seems to have been corrected as I was able to go from airplane mode to google nav multiple times and didn't reboot at all. so whatever the issue was seems to have been corrected. Thanks MT!!
Ever since upgrading to ATT ICS, my WiFi and Mobile Data connections both are turned on during the night. During the day, I don't run either. When I am at home, I use WiFi and then turn WiFi off and plug in the charger before I sleep. When I wake up in the morning, WiFi and Mobile Data are turned ON. This happens constantly for me.
The second thing I tried was not putting the phone on the charger for the night. Come the next morning, WiFi is ON but Mobile Data remained off.
Something is triggering WiFi and Mobile Data to automatically turn on. I can't seem to find the setting that is allowing this to happen.
With GB, I never had this issue. If I recall correctly, GB had a setting for the sleep period of the phone. I don't remember much else of what was adjustable in that menu and I can't remember if I set anything in there for GB and data. I cannot find anything remotely like that in ICS. ICS is bloody annoying me right now with these quirks.
I wish I could downgrade back to GB right now so I don't have to deal with data turning on during the course of the night.......
If you want to go back to gb look under the development tab for return to GB from ics. It's down a ways. Not sure what to tell you about the other issues but to try and reflash ics.

Try Airplane Mode
Sounds like you have some app trying to make a connection to run an update. It's turning on WiFi and/or the Mobile Data connections. I'll check mine tonight to see what happens.
Try turning on the Airplane mode when you go to bed. Hold down the power button and select the Airplane Mode option. If that doesn't keep the radios off, something is really wrong.
I sometimes use the Airplane mode at night to conserve the battery, but since you're charging, that's not an issue.

I found the thread. Thanks. I just need to read about unlocking the bootloader now before proceeding. The only downside of downgrading is I will lose the ICS radio which is giving me such good signal strength. Before in my room at home, I would get 1 bar, now I get 2 or 3. LULz.

This happened since day 1 of upgrading to ICS. The only software that I installed were some games and utilities that I had on GB. I never had an issue with either data connection turning on.
I might try another flash of ICS but that would mean running it for a night without the downloaded software for a couple nights and then installing each one by one, night by night.
I can use airplane mode but not for long term. I need to be able to receive calls from work when issues arise during the 2nd and 3rd shifts.
This only happens at night. It never happens during the day which makes me believe something is happening during the phone sleep time. And there's no setting that I can find for the phone sleep time like GB. Grr.....
Why not just leave data on if u don't mind me asking. Can't be using that much data really

Yep I have the same issue.
I have observed the data icon appear on the stroke of midnight. It takes three attempts to keep it off till the next time I use it, or when the damn thing turns back on at 23:59:59.
Spoke to HTC support, they advised to return it to retailer for them to examine it....WTF...lol

We have two threads on this issue of WiFi and/or Data turning on at midnight. When I first found the missing voice dialer problem, I e-mailed HTC support. They responded to my e-mail and then a member of their escalation team called me. They recognize that this is an ICS upgrade issue. Of course, they don't know when it will be fixed.
If you have not already done so, log into HTC.com, go to Support and send an e-mail describing the problem. They need as much feedback as we can give them to get HTC and/or Google to fix these problems.
I am not surprised that the ICS upgrade broke some things, but the number of things surprises me.
Check your setting. Drop the drop bar and enable Wi-Fi connection then touch the bar next to the off-on switch. Touch the icon next to the home icon on the bottom of the phone and click on advanced. See the screen shots.

Too bad. I noticed mine came on the first night after I installed ICS. Took awhile to find the settings I posted. When I found the settings and clicked on the one in the picture I never noticed Wi-Fi come on on its own since.
So I finally got around to trying Airplane mode. WiFi still kicks on overnight while plugged in.
vivid x2 - I had that checked to "Never" and I still have WiFi and Mobile Data coming on at night.
brucegil & FPV-GT - I will submit a support email ticket. I'm surprised there aren't more of us on here that are having this issue.
syrkel - I don't want either WiFi or Mobile Data on. If I'm not using it, why have it activated? All I need during the night is 2G voice so I can respond to work issues that may arise.
Just throwing another thing to look into. Try to reset the data counter and check it every few hours to see what apps are using the wi-fi data? Some of the apps even allow you to access the app settings from there as well. Check some of the app permissions and try disabling a few apps at a time that allow changes to wi-fi settings.
what a coincidence. i was just jacking around on my phone in class and found the advanced wifi option and there is a setting to keep wifi on during sleep. it has three options: always, only when plugged in, and never. hope this helps
Try installing a juice defender. It turns off data when your screen is off automatically. Also, (maybe only in the paid versions) you can set a night schedule for it to disable connectivity for a set time automatically. I have mine disable all data connections and go to silent mode from 12:30 to 8:30.

I tested this last night. Before I went to bed, I turned off WiFi (Data remained on). On the WiFi advanced settings I had the Keep Wi-Fi on During Sleep setting to "Always," which is the opposite of what people here have mentioned. I plugged in the charger. However, I have my Vivid set to remain on while on the charger. So it technically never went to sleep. (Makes a nice night light.) At 2:30 a.m. when I woke up, the WiFi was not on.
Tonight I will keep the same settings, but I will not put it on the charger (I'm testing the 3400 mAh Mugen extended battery). I will see if the WiFi comes on during the night.

I wonder if this is part of Googles data collection. I have gone through 3 vivid phones in the last 2 weeks (long story). I have seen this problem happen with no apps other than what came with the phone. My wifes phone (another vivid) does the same thing. If the phone is turned off for the night, turning the phone back on has the same results (mobile data is on). This seems to be a random problem.
When you allow Google's locaton service part of the message says that you are allowing Google to collect data even when no apps are running.
Just a thought.
I've been trying to figure out what's causing it...see my last couple posts here.

Does anyone else think this update was half baked?
I'm having a lot of issues with the new update. Bluetooth keeps skipping like a scratched cd, Wifi won't connect just keeps requesting ip from router then I have to shut off wifi and turn it on manual to connect, I really need to fix these problem any suggestions.
Can I roll back to 2.3 stock some how?
Are there any other good forums for this phone?
I love it. No problems with Wi-Fi. As a matter of fact, to get Wi-Fi to work in gb,I had to reboot the phone everyday. Also no ghost calls. Being able to turn off data and Wi-Fi manually gives me 2 days of battery life.

you get 2 days of battery life???mine can only go for 8 hours!its really annoying!the phone takes so long to charge fully but the battery gets done so quickly. secondly there is no way to manually toggle between 2g/3g/4g! why??? the performance too is crappy.....the phone responds slowly
