I am currently on a rooted version of ZV7 and I lost my backup somehow, so I was wondering how to i return to non rooted ZV7. I basically just want to start fresh like when i got the phone for the first time. and then reroot and then i plan on doing the method for keeping root with the ZV8 update.
You can use MT's all in one tool to un root and then re root if you want.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348557 There is also a way to root the ZV8 software now so if you want you can un root upgrade to ZV8 then re root with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621625

So anyone able to help me with this. Can I use RSDlite ? that's how I would revert back to bone, stock, first day out of the box, with my Droid 2 Global and my Droid X, but I wasn't sure if that was just for Motorola phone or if it works for any brand of phone. If I can use RSDlite, then can someone hook me up with the proper SBF file I need in order to revert back to stock ZV7 LG ROM/OS (I was never sure if just the custom one were called ROMs, or if even the stock version of Android that comes on a phone is considered a ROM too, I just always figured it was just called the Stock < insert phone brand-name here> ROM lol
Oh and on a side note, once I do revert back to Stock ZV7, is the ZV8 update gonna automatically just start downloading, or will it give me the option to do so. Right now when it pops up, it gives me the option to start the download, or in 30seconds if i don't decide it will automatically start downloading. Is that gonna be the same way it works when i am back to stock ZV7 ?
RSD Lite is the Moto side of the house, we use on our side is a tool called LGNPST and files that end in .TOT.....
All the instructions can be found over on this page

Not sure if the download links are still active on that post but if they are not check

where threevolve was kind enough to host the files for us (link for the site is on the page) and is where I downloaded VS910ZV7.tot and VS910ZV8.tot
As far as the update starting to re-download it most likely will but if you end up rooting your phone after you TOT back to the ver. you want you can always freeze the software update.apk (plz if someone knows a different and/or way post the link or correct me)

I purchased a phone that was suppose to be setup for verizon, i got it home and found out it had been rooted and set up for criket.
after many hours of reading and searching i have the phone flashed back to factory settings, but, when i dial *228 to program for verizon it still calls criket.
I was told i need to flash the antenna ?? or something like that...
can someone help me with this.. thanks
have you flashed the stock sbf?
follow these instructions
i cant post links, wtf
instead of flashing the 2.1sbf file listed there you can use the 2.2 file from this site
i cant post links, wtf
the radios are also listed there, i've been told you need to flash the radios in order, meaning you can't just start at the last one, you need to flash each one seperately. BUT i have no idea how to flash a radio on a stock phone, so if i were you i'd attempt the spf flash with rsd lite, then root the phone and install sprecovery, then install the radios one at a time.
I had the same issue and went to Verizon today and had them flash the stock Froyo using RSD Verizon software. Make sure you enable USB debugging first.

OMG... i was told i had to have the phone rooted.. i just got done rooting it again
so... it needs to be un-rooted for me to take it to verizon to get it working on there network ?
No need to unroot; just bring the phone to Verizon and they can restore it back to the original 2.2.
So, as this is my first post on XDA I'd like to first state that I am somewhat new to the rooting scene. I used to have a DX and rooted it with no major problems. I know this is probably best suited to be posted in the Developement section, but I currently dont have premissions to do so. I would like to make sure I have everything I need and a clear understanding of the process before I attempt to root my D3.
As a precaution I would like to comfirm that their is a current .SBF file that can be used to return the phone to stock should I do something stupid during the root process? I have found the following link on this site with a .SBF file but from reading the threads I cant determine if this will return the D3 to stock:
[Recovery] RSD v5.5.0 and 5.5.184 (aka 5.6.890) fastboot partitions/flashable zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255198
Can someone confirm/verify if this will return my D3 to stock should I need to?
Also within this thread their is mention of Moto-Fastboot and something abbreviated as abd (i think). I am not familiar with either of these. Could someone also provide a breif explanation of what these are and their importance to the .SBF process?
I am also planing on using the following otpion to root my D3:
[Guide] one-click root for Droid 3 (and others) [UPDATED 9/8/2011]: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1240130
I want to say that I read somewhere that I have to download the SU.apk from the market place? Is this correct or does this option one-click process display the SU icon in the app draw as the z4root one click option did on my DX?
Also I know that I need to purchase/download the D3 boot loader file from the market plac, I think? Is there anything else that you would recommend that I download/purchase to ensure I dont brick my phone in the process?
Sorry this is so long, but thank you in advance to those that provide responses/suggestions/comments to my questions.
Yes, there is a fully functioning sbf available for the D3
Yes, that is the sbf that is needed. To actually use the sbf you will need rsd lite, which i also believe to be in that post with the sbf.
This sbf will indeed return your phone to fully functioning stock in the case that it should be needed. (i've had to do it my fair share of times)
ADB is a command prompt interface that allows you to interact with the files on your phone without having to go into something like root explorer.
Fastboot (power + vol up + vol down) is a pre boot menu that allows you to boot into different things (like the AP fastboot mode needed to flash an SBF or to go into recovery). To flash an sbf you need to connect your D3 to the computer (in computer mode, i think), and choose the xml file that is in the SBF after you've extracted it.
The one-click root allows you to root your phone hassle free
When i say this, I mean that it installs the Superuser.apk and pushed the busybox and su to the system/xbin, which is needed for some different processes that require root.
here is the link to the most updated version of the bootstrapper, which allows recovery to be entered through the power-off (by using the bp tools option in fastboot)

smoshim, thank you very much for your assistance and explanations. I already have RSD Lite on my computer and actually meant to include that in my original post. I had it on hand for when I rooted my DX just incase. I did need to use it once but it wouldnt recognize that my DX was connected for some reason. So I had to use a disck based linux program to SBF my DX when I sold it. Hopefully, RSD Lite doesnt give me any issues should I need it for my D3. Well, It's almost 2 am here in Omaha and I need to get my sorry tail to bed. Gotta be up in 5 and a half hours to get my 3 boys out the door for school. I have been patiently waiting to root my DS as I wanted to be sure that all of the "kinks" have been worked out and also wanted to try out some custom roms. I loved the darkslide rom for the DX. In your opinion do you think I should also go ahead and download/install rom manager?
honestly, rom manager doesn't have much available for the d3 yet. it'll be more productive right now to just manually drop the ROMs into your sd and boot into recovery.
And, in my opinion, the roms that we have out now are awesome. And as people get impatient they're making more and more themselves. So even though there may not be too many to choose from compared to some other devices there are more and more coming into the works all the time. But it sounds like you know what's going on, and the sbf process is pretty painless if you're already familiar with rsd on your DX
Can some one help me? I have the original LG Revolution, got it the week after it first came out. I have Revolt 1.5 on it. I need to know how to get it from that point to GB, in "spoon feed me" talk. I know I need to unroot, I rooted with the superoneclick, can I unroot with thecube's Revotoolkit? What do I need to do? Please and thank you. Also, I don't have any of the original goodies, so I will need to rely on other forum posts to get me all that crap too. Also, if I go to the GB and want to root, will I have to use the ADB method?
I Spent about 18 ************* hours on this. The good news is, if my stupid ass can do it, ANYBODY can lol. The thread about losing root, and accidentally upgrading to v6 has all the info needed, I promise. And it should only take about an hour or so.

you have to install the LGNST 1st if you don't have it
here's the link to all the files you need to install LGNST just follow it step by step
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211295
i don't think you need to download the vz4 tot file anymore since there's a root for the vz6 already
so you'll just need to run LGNST and load the vz6 tot to your revo, you don't need to unroot or uninstall cwm since once you loaded the vz6 it'll remove both at the same time. this process takes about 15mins
i recommend not to disconnect the phone until your revo have complete rebooted and the LGNST says complete
then all you have to do is update to vz7 GB on the revo software update
here's the link to get the vz7 GB rooted just follow the instructions and you'll be fine and this root can help root the vz6 also
http://androidnerds.net/2011/10/08/lg-esteem-oneclickroot-now-ready/
if the LG esteem don't work use the drivers provided on the link. rooting vz7 GB takes 1-3min
Those ways work my way worked as well. I just restored to the stock Revo from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129117
I then wiped /data in cwm. I tried to boot into that restore without doing it and I black screened. That restore doesn't have the /data stuff so something funky happens and booting didn't work for me. I wiped /data and everything was ok. After I booted up I installed Revo Toolkit from >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1144951
Once I had that installed I went and changed back to the stock recovery.
With the stock recovery in place I then went into setting and pulled the V6 update to my phone. That came through fine for me (this is where a lot of people had problems). After that rebooted and installed I pulled the GB update to my phone the same way. That installed fine and rebooted. Only issue I am having now is getting my phone to root again so I can test out MT's new ROM for him which is what started this whole mess when I tried to flash to it from Revolt.
Hope my ranting helps

I did the first week I had my phone...Is this going to have a negative effect on trying to get v6/v7 updates?
I'm having the same issue. I'm on v4 and I'm not getting v6.
As simple as possible, here's my situation: Two days ago I rooted my LG Revolution, which was running 2.3.4 before I rooted it. Everything went well!!!
Few hours later, i was tethering, then as I came back to my phone I saw it had restarted and that Verizon had sent out an OTA update (which I selected CANCEL to, btw). My phone restarted again and I lost root, plus my phone went to 2.3.6.
I tried to reroot again on 2.3.6, but the oneclickroot batch file didn't root it this time (permissions were denied when trying to push files and use the chmod 777 command). I later tried the manual process, but still not luck.
PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP!!! I WANT ROOT ACCESS TO TETHER (WIRELESS) FOR MY NEW IPAD.
This is being discussed all over the Development forum and this one. This newest update has not bee rooted yet.
Short answer you can't re-root yet.
Wow, do you know if I can backup to 2.3.4
Download the .TOTS. Just go back to v7 gingerbread and reroot. Put cwm on even if you don't need it. It will prevent your phone from updating because it's not the stock bootloader.

Could you, please, post the instructions (step by step) on this: how to revert back to the previous version, flash CW, and how to root again? Will this work on the LG Revolution, and does this disrupt my 4G, which is something i read about in another forum?

Thanks, finally got it to work. I did a serious, hardcore internet search and found that i needed to turn down my user account settings, which was preventing my 64 bit machine from installing any harmful software. Wow, that was crazy. Anyway, i'm looking for some cool roms and themes to go with my rooted and CW LG Rev, now.
Any suggestions?
MT just released a one click root method for ZV8 so the process should be very easy going forward. it does require being on ZV7 though....if you have already upgraded to unrooted ZV8 you have to downgrade back to ZV7 to get root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566729
Currently there are no ROMs (or themes I believe) for ZV8...MT should have a GV update ready pretty soon though!
So right now if you want to use a custom ROM you have to downgrade back to rooted ZV7.

I'm actually running ZV7. I had to donwgrade from 2.3.6 (due to an OTA), so now i'm running 2.3.4 again (which, i believe, is ZV7, correct?). I'm looking for something really cool, and sleek, like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990233&page=1083
to make matters worse....
Don't want to be the bearer of bad news here but I in fact have cwm and gingervoltrom 2.0. whiel the update did not succeed it has been causing my phone to go freaking haywire. I'm not sure why our what's up. I can't even prove that's it's not a issue with 2.0 since that I also recently updated to. I used can that I had way before the Verizon update to install this though.
Complete LGNPST Package and tot files
Currently there is no direct way to regain root in ZV8, however in this post ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566729 ), the excellent mtmichaelson shows us a way into a kind of workaround for those who MUST regain root under ZV8. It involves flashing back to ZV7 first and sometimes finding all of the necessary files to do the flashing can be a chore. That's why I put them all together in one file for anyone who wants to download and try mtmichaelson's workaround. I AM NOT responsible for anyone bricking their Revo, so use this at your own risk. Here is the torrent file :

So its been awhile since I flashed a ROM to my BIONIC. That was back before ICS was even released for the BIONIC. So I started looking at updating to one of the more stable ROMS that has way better performance that this stock one. Currently I have 6.7.232 on my phone and I would like advice on which ROMs are best for this device. I have looked into some such as Gameblur, Raging Bionic, and Icarus HD. Thus far I havent really decided on one but I have noticed that some of them are on Jelly Bean. I am not sure if I have to return to the OTA path to update to any of these. I also have Safestrap 3.11 installed. Any advice would be appreciated. thanks.
Any help out there?? Thanks.

Well Gameblur and Raging Bionic both require one to be on the 98.72.22 Moto 4.1.2 Jellybean update. Incarus HD however is ICS base and can be flashed with your current setup.
If you are destine to update your stock side I would first prep what you currently have on there right now. See this HERE for getting stuff ready.
I would backup anything on the internal storage before hand and make sure that you have a full battery.
You will find the proper FXZ files HERE. If you are on 6.7.2-223 update then use the one for 4.0.4. It would be easier to root again through the update process. After you have completed the restore processes and root through the HOB. Make sure you have VooDoo Root Keeper installed on your phone to back up Root and to disable Root. Then with a good Data connection you are going to take the update Via OTA. Once the update is complete and you are fully booted up. Use VooDoo to restore your Root and test using root explore or NoFrills CPU.

The link provided there has a post from the OP that states House of Bionic is discontinued and to use House of Moto. Should I do that?
Secondly I havent for sure decided which Rom I will be moving to. I feel that the interface I have been using is kinda laggy. I installed Next launcher to see if that made a difference and it was more responsive but still my system memory usage skyrockets after a couple hours and sometimes the only way to resolve it is to restart the device. Any recommendations as to which Rom I should move to?

You can try using the House of Moto stuff also depending on what you feel more comfortable on using. The HOM was desighned to have one interface for all Moto devices instead of each having its own individual setup. I would still use HOB for your purpose only because I don't know if he added in the script to root the device, which was made for ICS versions not JB hence the discontinued portion of it.

I have tested and played around with a lot of different ROMs and tweaks to find the one that I am ultimately satisfied with. Flying Jelly, well the name speaks for itself, Rage, and GameBlur (which I had minor help in) all work fine for there purpose.. One must pick and choose which one suits there purpose. So my suggestion would be to install SafeStrap 3.60, which is the latest updated one, and create a few slots and run each the same as you would Stock or any other firmware to measure which one suits your needs.....
In a previous post you wrote "If you are on 6.7.2-223 update then use the one for 4.0.4.". I went to the FXZ site and it shows that the 4.04 rom has version 6.7.223 on it already. I already have root. Why would I need to install the same version again and reinstall root to get on the OTA. I just want to make sure I understand this to avoid making mistakes. Thanks.
Then if you feel confedent that all will go well then just install Voodoo to backup and disable root. Take the OTA update and see if it will install. The most that will happen is that if it detects that something is missing from the current firmware you have the installation process will fail and reboot back into what you currently have. At that point you will have to FXZ your stock back to the way it was installed originally, root, then backup root and disable, then take the OTA. ICS is way easier to root then JB. I have kept Root before via OTA when I got it, so I know it Voodoo will keep the backup and install it..

I think I miscommunicated what my question was. The instructions say to install the FXZ for the 4.0.4 that has the same version of Android OS that is currently installed. the further instructions say to install the OTA from verizon but everytime I check for an update nothing shows up on my phone. Where else can I get the OTA?
In addition I want to know what I should do about safestrap. Should I remove it before installing the OTA or is it fine to leave as is when I go to install the OTA?
OK... If you cannot even get Big Red to send you the update. You can fxz the update, but at that point you will loose root, but have the option to keep your current data. Go see House of Moto or House of Bionic over at droidrazr.com
As far as Safestrap I would just uninstall recovery through the app the reboot so it clears out before the fxz process.

fyi I think he took House of Bionic down, didn't see a link. I can however attest that House of Moto worked perfectly fine. Flashed fresh .232 and VZW sent me the OTA (I tried voodoo rootkeeper before updating). I did lose root despite following all of the steps. To get it back your best bet is to boot up a live Ubuntu disc. I tried the VM that someone compiled but it kept failing.
PS: nobe1976, how the hell did you fit 3 ROMS on your phone? I can only fit one ROM (besides obviously stock). Wish we could install ROMs through safestrap to SD (internal or external).

fyi I think he took House of Bionic down, didn't see a link. I can however attest that House of Moto worked perfectly fine.
