boss ill try it a couple times but cant read my device i want to reflash my tab is bricked....uhuhuh
many has done it.
As long as you can go to download mode, you are not bricked.
remember to have it charged for at least 4hrs.
Just connect it to Odin preferably at the same USB port as the one you used before.
Reboot it to download mode while data cable is connected, then try Odin.
Connecting in Download Mode
I had the same problem when i changed laptop. So on my new machine, the PC would not recognize my P1000 in the download mode. I was running win xp.
The problem was that it wasn't able to automatically locate the drivers. No wonder it wasn't. The drivers aren't built in to xp driver cache. So here is what you need to do:
Download Samsun Kies from samsung website. Do a search on google and you'll get to it.
Once downloaded, install Samsung Kies. No need to run it or anything. Once downloaded, plug that tab in download mode to USB of PC, and it will get detected and the drivers will get installed.
I still have KIES installed, but i never used it, i just installed it for the drivers.
Let me know if this helped.

Hi Dude,
Instead of installing Kies on your XP or windonws 7 for only driver, you can install driver using below guide.
Go to Google and search as Galaxy Tab Driver and go...Click Modaco Website & then Download.
Regards,
Venkat
Overcome's GB-stock-safe-v5 zip package contains USB drivers too, both 32bit and 64bit.
But the best is of course in linux, just a single line of definition in udev.
same here - SOLVED
I had the same problem (not recognized).. What I did to resolve the problem by:
1. Re-install Samsung USB drivers (got from here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881981)
2. Set the tab in DL mode and connect to the PC... wait for windows to install drivers.... DONE!
3. Startd Odin_v1.83.. CONNECTED!!! (seen by yellow COM#)
Hope this helps.. HIT THANKS PLS!

Hello all, I am turning to the Forums since I have spent 5 hours trying to resolve my problem.
Earlier today I installed Kies Mini on my computer in anticipation of the official AT&T Froyo. However, now my computer no longer recognizes my phone at all. It does not show up in the Device Manager, or anywhere.
I tried Uninstalling Kies Mini, Uninstalling the Drivers, Rebooting my phone. etc, etc. But Windows still will not recognize the phone as attached. It worked in the past and I would like for it to work again.
I am currently running Windows 7 64 bit. My Captivate is running Cog 3.4.
Try this:
Uninstall Kies Mini and all Drivers
Reinstall Kies Mini
Once installed turn on USB debugging on your phone and then plug it in, let it install all of the drivers.
Unplug your phone and shut it down
Once shut down activate download mode (hold up and down volume and plug in the USB) again it will install more drivers.
Once this is done unplug your phone, remove the battery and turn it back on, then restart your computer.
Uninstalled Kies Mini, and Samsung Drivers. Reboot
Installed Kies Mini.
Attached Phone to Computer. Nothing.
Also, Tried to Just boot my phone into Recovery Mode. But only boots into Clockwork Recovery. Can't Log into Stock Recovery
Update: Tried hooking up the phone to my XP machine. No Joy. XP did not recognize the device or try to install drivers.
Did you enable debugging?

Yes, I placed it in Debug mode. When I plug in my Phone my Title Bar Shows the USB Debugging Android indicating that USB Debugging connected, the USB icon that says Copy files to From Computer. If I click on USB, it gives me the Green Connect Android, then the Orange One. But none of my computers recognize a USB device as connected.
I have tried it with Three different cables. I'm thinking that somehow the phone is not sending some message to Windows saying "Hey, I'm connected"
Did you use the correct drivers for the phone? Can't recall of the top of my head if I can use the standard captivate drivers for windows if your on cognition..

Not in device manager
I have what appears to be a soft brick. I was running the i9000 drivers. I was trying to install the i897. At first Odin recognized my phone and I began to download. The Odin bootloader flash failed. No my computer (Win 7 64 bit) does not even see my phone. Nothing in device manager, not even an unrecognized device.
I can get my phone into download mode. Does anyone have an idea how I can get windows to see me again?
From my experience as long as you are in download mode and have odin opened up it when you connect it, odin should find the phone no problem for you to be able to flash something new to it.

Have you rebooted the PC? Try to reinstall the drivers again. I had to reinstall the nexus s drivers but I have read some need to reinstall kies to get the drivers to work. Just keep at it. Try other USB ports. My phone wouldn't be recognized for about two weeks with trying everything. I tried new USB cables, drivers and all. Then finally it kind of worked and I went from download mode with a jig to phone!PC and then it took another reboot of the laptop and phone was able to get flashed again via the phone!PC screen. Just keep trying is all I can say.

Hi, looking for some help with a soft-bricked SGS i9000.
It is bricked to the point that it only shows the 'Phone--!--Computer' when switched on, or when attempting to access Recovery Mode.
I can access Download mode absolutely fine, but Windows refuses to recognise the device when it is plugged in, therefore it doesn't show up in Odin, therefore I can't flash a new ROM.
Is there anything I can try to get Windows/Odin recognising it?
(Someone on another thread suggested just unplugging and replugging the phone until Windows recognises it - should I give this a try?)
Thanks.
I assume you have tried reinstalling the drivers?
Yeah, I've removed the device from device manager, reinstalled the drivers and re-plugged it.
Then I've tried updating the drivers via Device Manager - the message I get is that the best drivers are already installed.

Uninstall whatever drivers you have installed at the moment and read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...an always uninstall and install Samsung Kies.
try a different usb port, sometimes you can actually fool windows with that, i have had the same a couple of times, rebooting your pc or using a other pc sometimes works...
can you enter to download mode? It should be recognised by odin. If not you need an usb jig.
I had the same thing, so i looked around and someonle suggested installinog nexus S drivers and Odin recognizes your phone!!
It really works.

I have a Galaxy tab 7 thru Verizon and I want to install galaxy cubed 3. I first installed drivers from verizon bootstrapper, then put in download mode and plugged in, get device driver not successfully installed and unknown device in zadig.exe. Then tried installing kies, then open tools and install drivers. Kies does not recognize my tab 7, and am told to put into pc studio mode to sync, but drivers seem to install correctly. I put into download mode and plug in, and again device driver not installed correctly and unknown device is shown in zadig.exe. I have uninstalled all drivers and kies and reinstalled more than onece, and this is not working. I am using windows 7. What else can I do? Any expert opinions would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to enjoy the hard work developers here have put in. Thank you!!
I have the latest samsung drivers installed, the phone is detected by Odin when it is on, but Odin doesn't detect it when the phone is in download mode?
If anyone can help or give any advice, thank you in advance.

From what I can remember, when you put the phone in download mode and connect it using usb, it tries to install another driver on your pc.. was that successfully installed?
or you can remove the samsung drivers and then reinstall them and try doing the whole process again.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the samsung driver, but odin still doesn't recognize the phone when connected by USB.
I remember multiple drivers being installed when I first connected the phone, but I'm not sure if any of them were when I connected the phone in download mode. How would I check the drivers for this or uninstall/reinstall them?

you could check in device manager of your windows for any devices for which drivers have not been installed..
should be just the drivers problem as odin recognizes when your phone is on
The only driver that seems to show up for when the phone is connected is "USB Mass Storage" device, which i uninstalled and reinstalled but odin and zadig of heimdall still don't detect as they should.
Do I have to have the USB settings of the phone in any particular mode?
Driver Source
Did you install drivers separately or along with Kies?
I had the same issue a few days back and this solved it:
1. Uninstalling all Samsung (and Google) USB drivers
2. Uninstall Kies
3. Download and run "uninstall kies" (search on the Forum/Google for UnistallKies.zip/ UninstallKies.exe)
4. Download and install latest Kies
5. Put phone in download mode AND THEN connect to PC.
See if that solves it.
Something I found....
If you have Kies on your computer, make sure it's not running in the background. Go to the Task Manager > Processes and remove it. From memory, there are two Kies apps running in the background.
Once they've stopped proceessing, try the download mode, Odin thing again.
Babe
Hmmm... not typing fast enough.... And yes, make sure your phone is in USB mode, USB debugging enabled and from memory?...... I think you have to have the non-market apps (Unknown Sources) box ticked

you have enabled usb debugging right?
Well I'm trying on another computer now, which did not have any of the drivers installed initially. I installed the latest samsung drivers WITHOUT Kies, and installed the drivers that come when the phone is connected in download mode.
Odin, both versions 1.85 and 1.3, does not detect the phone at all either on this other computer.
Oh gosh...nevermind, turns out I was in recovery mode and not download mode. Thank you for all your help though!

hi, i am facing this issue ...driver doesnt install correctly when in download mode ... tried to update ..reinstall drivers but still no use ..
in device manager it shows as msm7
running windows 8
after a uninstall and reinstall and a new usb wire it shows unrecognized device with !
So attempting to root I can not get my tmobile note 4 to be recognized by Odin when I enter downloading mode. I obviously tried installing samsung usb mobile driver, when I did a message window in Japanese with a red x appeared on my win 8.1 desktop. I tried different downloads of driver and even tried samsung site all give same error window. I then installed latest kies and it installed ok and recognized my note. I tried Odin and entered dl mode on note and still Odin doesn't recognize device. I uninstalled and reinstalled kies and driver but no luck. Is there a setting on my phone that's not allowing. I have usb Debug checked. When in dl mode it just says secure download enabled and then says entering udc. I am adb literate but new to odin. Any suggestions ...
Delete everything and start over. My laptop automatically downloads the drivers for me so not sure if your desktop will do the same.
If not, download drivers or just reinstall then and try it out and see if that works for you.
Well my fix was to go to a friend's house and use there pc. Tried everything and my win 8.1 did not like.
Removing or reinstalling Samsung drivers can be tricky. You did the right (easy) thing going to a different computer. Trying to use the same computer for an old and new Samsung device at the same time can easily cause your problem to happen. I found that you can't just switch between different versions of the drivers willy nilly. Perhaps the uninstaller routine doesn't work? Registry issue? Don't know.
If your win 8 pc can be rolled back to before you ever installed kies or a Samsung driver you might be able to get it to work using the correct (new) driver. That said, I'm still using the same driver I installed for my Note 2. Since it worked for the Note 4 and knowing what could happen, I left well enough alone!
