I just installed Marvel ROM yesterday, no idea if this has anything to do with my problem. After I installed the ROM it automatically downloaded all my Apps from the market. My phone had never done this before, but it was OK because I was on WiFi. Then I uninstalled a bunch of apps that I didn't want. While I was out at a bar last night, my phone downloaded all the apps that I deleted again and used up 50 MB of my data plan. This is not cool because I only have 300 MB I can use at 3G speed every month. Why did my phone just download those apps? I don't want them!

Just goto settings->Privacy and untick the backup my data and restore my data that all your problem will be solved. The OS is backing up your data on google account and restoring it when needed so just disable it.

I don't have that option in my privacy settings. Only factory reset. Also, if i uninstall an app through the market i would expect a "smart phone" to be smart enough not to reinstall

Hey guys,
I haven't been able to find very much on this, so if you guys can help, that'd be great.
This morning, I woke up, and my phone said "low on space". I tried everything from a reboot to taking the battery out, etc. Then I went into Menu>Setting>SD and Phone storage, and something caught my eye. The "Available Phone Storage" area was losing memory as I was looking at it! It decreased from 500kb, and settled down somewhere around 28kb. And two days ago i had 30MB!!! How did this happen?

The only thing I can think of being a culprit would be an app that needs to be downloading tons of data. I know the XDA app downloads data when you view new forums... do you use that a lot?
Sorta... once or twice a day

Ok, try this. Do a fresh install of whatever ROM you're using, and don't install any extra apps. See if you start to lose space like you are right now. Then, install the apps one by one, and you'll see which app is taking up your free space.
Have you tried a wiping and restoring your ROM? That may be your only option. Strange issue to have

+1...beat me to it
my wifes was doing this, i noticed the "contact storage" was almost 80mb! She has over 300 friends on FB and its set to refresh that every 2 hours. Try clicking on menu-settings-then accounts &sync... they are set at default to every2 hours. it would freeze her phone and couldn't receive texts or calls until its don't refreshing sometimes too more than an hour. not sure if this is a complete fix or not just tried it earlier today.
Its the HTC Mail app possibly. There are temp files building up. Only way to clear them is to be rooted and delete them with a file manager.

For some reason, my Handcent app will at least once per day display its release notes when opened as if I just installed it, and any changes I made to its settings will be reset. This is particularly annoying because I use custom notification tones for different contacts & for new texts in general. What could be the issue? It's not set to autoupdate.

App updates through the market don't mess with your saved data/app settings, so that's probably not it. The next time it happens, uninstall/reinstall the app and see if that helps. Do this through the market, not from a Titanium Backup batch or anything similar. Also, I believe Handscent has an option to back up all of your user settings. The next time you have to reconfigure everything, make a backup of your settings. At the very least, it will save you a hell of a lot of time until you figure out what the problem is.

I reinstalled it like you suggested. I also tried reinstalling via EasyUninstaller. Neither fixed the problem.
Also, to backup the settings, you have to be a premium user.
The only thing I can think that would have affected the app is I installed a custom theme for it. It wasn't a theme from within the app itself, but a mod a user had made to change the keyboard color and some other things. I thought I had uninstalled it, though. I installed it via AppsInstaller with the apk being on my sd card. I'll try to find the thread I got the apk from.
OK, here it is: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/team-fusion/34058-release-themed-handcent.html
What Rom are you running? Stock Captivate or ?. Some roms cause this issue, resets the app (s) for some reason. I've had the issue on a few other apps but not handcent. I also registered the app, might make a difference.

I'm running Darkys 7.0.1 port, if you've heard of it. It's VERY nice on appearance and battery life, but this problem just sucks!
Would registering it fix the problem? I don't want to pay $3 just to remove the ad bar.
There is a free registration. Not sure if that will fix the problem but hell, it's free and saves your settings.
I have restored handcent using TiBu for at least the last 10 rom flashes, app + data and never had a problem, just did it this morning when going to Perception 9.5, and every things is working fine, logged in and it restored all my theme settings, preferences, etc.
That's with the free registration. Quote from them " Register free handcent account, get online quicktext and online themes services"
Other thing is, are you running the latest update? Every update has always fixed any issue I was having with the program.
Saw this: "with the new version of Handcent just released and it seems to break handcent even after resigning the app. " From the link you posted.
Hello, I'm from Serbia, on VIP Mobile, and recently (approx 2 months ago) our carrier added possibility to buy applications from Android Market ...
I've bought few apps, and suddenly paid apps disappeared from market totally
Only free apps are available on phone, and also on market.android.com ...
I couldn't even update apps I've already bought!
A friend of mine who is also on same carrier reported the same thing, so I thought rooting my phone will fix that, and it did, but only partially:
When using market enabler, I can now update apps I've purchased, and also download some free apps I couldn't before, also I can find and list paid apps, but when I click on the price button to buy it, it takes me to the "Accept & buy" screen, but with long "Prepairing.." label, followed by error message: "The item you were attempting to purchase could not be found."
Is there any fix for that ?
I really want to buy some apps (such as Mobile Odin and ScreenCast), but I'm not able to :S
Try buying from the desktop market and sending the downloads to your phone.

Also try clearing the data for the market app by going to settings>applications>manage applications>all>market.
Force stop first, clear cache, then clear data.
I had some apps installed showing not installed in the market recently and I can't update them so I cleared the data and it all went back to normal.

I said I can't open anything on market.android.com, when I search for stuff it doesn't show in results, and when I click on a direct link of some paid app, I get "This app is not compatible with your country" (or something like that)

Didn't help
I get the same error message ...
Okay, I've fixed my problem
I've tried clearing the data again, but also went on "Uninstall updates", which downgraded my market to old green-ish/yellow-ish version, and when I tried buying app using that one, it closed and reopened with new version (automatically updated), and now I'm able to buy stuff on market again !
I have the same problem, tried your method but I only get free apps. Are you using market enabler after uninstaling market updates and clearing data and cache? Also, what rom do you have?
Hello,
I've been using Titanium Backup pro for a while. Since I started using Kingdroid V2 rom, I noticed that TB recognize 3 apps only (Pocket, pocket casts and another app) where I have more than 50 apps installed.
When I do batch back up, TB will back up all the apps. However, TB backs up only 3 apps in the scheduled back up.
any help please?
Thanks,
Mo
I deleted the 3 apps, and now TB doesn't recognize any app.
I was wrong, in batch backup the phone used to back up only the 3 apps., and now nothing!

Go to settings > Apps, And clear cache and data for TB
Then reload TB and try again, Most probably you got a setting selected somewhere, With the latest update there is a lot more options so its easier to clear data and start again instead of trying to hunt it down
Thanks. I tried everything. I cleared cach, reinstalled app, flashed new kernel (speedmod), reinstalled the rom.. Still the same.. See attached pics

It's says "pocket" in all. Which looks like it's looking for apps with the word pocket.
If you click the edit filters button in the top right corner then click clear, what happens then ?
Swyped From My Galaxy Note
you are absolutely right.. "Thanks"
I always wondered why on earth it says "Pocket".. then thought maybe it has always been there but I wasn't paying attention
I tried searching because I thought I'd seen the answer to my problem before but I came up empty so I apologize if this has been asked and I missed it.
I did a data wipe on my phone today to see if it'd clear up some issues I was having. After the wipe non of my apps from the play store are showing up, regardless of free or purchased, the only thing that comes up is the preloaded apps.
What's the trick to get the play store to refresh and load my apps?
I tried to restore the backup I made before the wipe but it fails to reload.
Wiping data will remove your downloaded apps. Open the Play Market, hit menu, "my apps" and you'll see a list of everything you currently have downloaded/installed. Swipe over and you'll find the list of everything you've purchased and downloaded recently (free or not).

Thanks, I didn't realize it did that.
I thought there was a way to get it to reload most of the apps automatically but this will have to do.
I appreciate the help.
