[Q] Galaxy S I9000 Brick

Hello,
Here is the story:
i was flashing my galaxy s and I accidentally dropped my galaxy's.
I cant go to "Recovery" Mode or to the flash mode!:S
My phone startsup and vibrates time to time!
What now?:$

Claim for a warranty of possible, try to cook a story , all the best

is there an another option?

i'm pretty sure there is a way of forcing download mode, and then flashing a ROM using Odin.. not sure how though.. try googling it or asking around on forums.
Although, if you dropped your phone, and now its not working, there's a possibility of physical damage, and then you'l have to get it fixed.
The good news is that if you cant force download mode or recovery mode, and you cant turn the phone on, your dealer won't be able to tell what you were doing without forcing a flash or replacing hardware, so you're safe anyway.
But yeah, try forcing a flash using a bootloader.
EDIT: oh yeah, check this out. seems pretty scary, but hey, what the hell do you have to lose??

Well... I just can turn on the phone but when its on he says the GALAXY S logo en than the screen gos black and then its viberating the whole time. and i dont wanna spend money. OOhh yea i have dropped it from 20 cm not so high

I have had this problem already. You need to force download mode by pressing three buttons and then with Odin reinstall the version you use to have you can find everything on this forum if you search a little. Success!

One boot into download mode .
Install a stock rom pit 512 and repartition checked via ODIN .
No download mode buy recovery jig .

i have dropped it and it wass like 30% complete with flashing now when i wanna press the 3 buttons it just starts normaly

Anyways:
No download mode means buying/borrowing a jig.
Or you could try the hair dryer method but thats a bit risky.
If you cant to any of those you'll have to send it to Samsung. Just say you were updating to 2.2.1 with KIES and then when the update was finished, your phone wouldnt start.

If it fails starting in download mode remove the battery put it back and try again. If the telephone can boot to the galaxy screen. It can boot in download mode. It was tricky when i had the problem and it took me 2 hours until i manage to have it. In my telephone the trick was press menu first then on and volume down..

i im gonna try the second option

ok try this no gaurentee it ll work but wat the heck
1. switch off phone.(take out battery n sim n mem card)
2. now hold on both the volume button at the same time
3. connect galaxy to the computer using micro usb.(keep holding on both volume button)
i tried tis on my frnds captivate n it worked( went dorectly into download mode)

Note CAPTIVATE NOT SAMSUNG GALAXY S
Its a different system for download mode on a different phone .
Method remove battery replace hold down volume DOWN button and HOME button Now hold down POWER button .
When phone boots to splash screen let go of home and volume down followed by power button .
not work means you need the download mode recovery jig from the front pages .

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S - can't turn on

i've tried to fix the dowload mode via the link

but i accidently plugged out the usb cabel out of my PC.
Now i can turn on my phone but I can't do anything,
there's just an icon that my phone isn't connected to the PC,
and when i try to connect it nothing happens.
can someone please help me???

even the recovery mode doesn't work
the icon i described just flashes while i'm holding the buttons, nothing else happens...

Samsung Captivate Galaxy S

Is the icon you have a triangle with an android Guy and a shovel? If so try remove battery remove sim.remove SD. Insert bettery and go back into download mode and re odin..what phone also

Is this the icon?

If the icon is the one connexion posted, then it should be fixed if you build a jig. A jig is essentially 300k worth of resistors. You can research more on this subforum to find out more information about it

I had that icon after a soft brick trying to install GB, and my phone was actually in download mode. I opened Odin one click, plugged it in, and was able to flash back to stock. Then I got cocky and tried to install GB again, same symbol, different results. I was not able to save my phone until my jig arrived.
Moral of the story: phone!computer can sometimes be download mode, but not always, and keep a jig on hand just in case.

I had that when trying to install GB the first time as well. Have you tried putting the phone into download mode via vol down/pwr?
If that doesnt work try holding vol up/vol down and plugging in the usb cable. While doing both the above mentioned and this make sure the phone is powered off first. Perform battery pull
If you can get it into download mode, use odin to flash back to stock jf6 and then retry. Best use would be odin oneclick search for it, its somewhere in here

if key combo does not work for you, the jig will help then ... try to build one yourself, or buy it on ebay (search for "micro usb jig").

Is my Galaxy S totally bricked?

Okay guys... I was running froyo with OC lag fix,
I didnt know i had to remove OCLF before upgrading thru kies...
Started the update, it was stuck on DOWNLOADING screen(on the phone) .. at 53% for 30 mins +
I removed the battery on the phone, thinking that I have the recovery mode anyway, and now I cant get into the recovery/download mode, nothing is happening, the screen doesnt even turn on.
Is my phone 100% bricked? Is there anything else i can try? If not... If i send it to samsung can they fix it?

Tried this too .. not working

It's bricked because you've messed up the bootloader.

If it was at 53% progress I doubt the flashing of the bootloaders had gone wrong. Probably it was in factoryfs.rfs (if it works same way as Odin).
sometimes it takes more time to enter download mode (up to 20 sec).

Take the battery out for 30 min then place it back and see if you can enter Download Mode, If you can't then you have a problem.

After 30 mins, should I PRESS the buttons first and then insert the battry(while keeping them pressed) OR put the battery first and then press the buttons?
UPDATE : I tried it, didn't work.
I guess all left now is to give it for repairs? :/

No, insert the battery then try to enter Download mode.
If it does not work then send it to be repaired or try USB-JIG: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551 I prefer the last one, cheap and fast.

in my experience.
When the screen is black and not light, I have tried everything and never managed to arrest him. Nor I worked the jig

Does the device get seen by the pc when you plug a usb cable in?
Have you tried the 301k resistor jig ?

It seems bad. I think you'll have to go to samsung. I think you can try saying, you were doing an update from kies (froyo -> gingerbread - flashes bootloaders) and then suddenly your PC turned off (power failure) . It seems that the phone can boot from USB too, so samsung can repair it without even opening it. Here on xda, there is a thread, where some guys (much more clever than me ) are trying to figure out the protocol.

I recently got my wife's sgs out of a simalar situation by using ADB. And the command of "adb reboot download" if you search xda you can find a ton of info and download links for adb

Once I saw someone that had to pull out the battery for several hours.
Maybe do that over night and then try the download mode again in the morning.

He can't get to the system nor to the recovery (most likely messed bootloaders), so he can't use adb.

riff jtag can recover bootloaders' but a technition has to do it
oh yes and it cost $$$

[Q] (soft)bricked galaxy s?

Hello everybody,
I have a question regarding the actual situation of my phone since nobody on here seemed to had the same issue.
My diagnosis is that my phone is softbricked.
If I try to boot it normally the first Galaxy S logo appears but when the loading animation is supposed to begin, it doesn't. Additionally my phone vibrates one time with a logn vibration and after half a second with 3 short vibrations, looping on this situation.
Neither download mode or recovery mode button combo seems to work.
If I start with one of the two and release the keys as soon as the first logo appears it will be stuck at boot vibrating as above, if i don't release them, it just keeps rebooting.
Do you think I could get out of this with a download mode usb jig?

I tried almost every combination I could find out on the net but nothing else happens, I've bought a jig on ebay and it should arrive in a couple of days. I will try and update ASAP.

I was on a stock 2.2 rooted room and I was following the guide to install cyanogenmod which is placed in the cyanogenmod wiki site...
after I flashed the speedmod kernel with hemdall, I got stuck in this situation.

My samsung galaxy mini has got into dead mode,because I installed a custom rom from this link . My phone is not turning ON. Even when I'm charging my phone,it is not showing the charging icon and also when I connected it to PC via USB,it is not showing the battery icon. My phone was totally got dead.So,now I jus want to go to download mode,How can I do this.Please help me.....I heard that we can do this by using JTAG blah blah, I couldnt understand ,So give me the clear (procedure)explanation and required files that how can i go to download mode.

ON mobile without USB,dont connect usb try without connected usb and go to download mode

You have the right area so don't worry about that.
It looks like your phone is done for good, but let's try to salvage it. Follow the steps carefully to avoid messing it up even further.
1.Make sure your battery is charged. Use an universal charger or something similar to charge it if not.
2.Unplug your phone from your USB cable or charger.
3.Put the battery back inside but do not power it up yet.
4.Hold the VOLUME DOWN button and the HOME button. While holding both of them, press and hold the POWER button. You should be prompted with a DOWNLOADING message. If nothing shows, then it's dead.
5.If you are shown the message, then you can still make it work. Make sure you have all your USB Drivers installed. After that download ODIN.
6.Open ODIN and plug in your phone while it is still in DOWNLOAD mode.
7.If it recognizes it, follow the steps here and you should be done.

As you mentioned in the 4th point, I've done what u suggested me to do by pressing the keys VOLUME DOWN,HOME,and POWER keys,but my phone is not switching into download mode....It is Dead mate..... Please help me

There is not much left to do. If there is a method of fixing this type of hard brick, the chances are very slim. You're better off sending the phone to Samsung Care.

Google and YouTube search for USB JIG. that might help you. It works on dead phones.

try a stock gingerbread by odin
and if it stuck at Samsung image go to recovery mod and clear data and cashe

Connection: 0 is drivers or kies problem. Uninstall all the Samsung USB drivers and re install them and also force stop or close kies running in background.
