hotspot not working? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Helo, I have installed on my i9000:
-latest nightly of CM9
-semaphore 1.1.1
-JPG modem
and when i try to turn on the wifi hotspot it goes on for 1 second and then immediately turns of. With a previous configuration (team hacksung build 17, all stock) the hotspot stayed on, i could connect to it with my laptop, but i had no internet connection. I did manage get an internet connection with that configuration, but that was only once. With my phone I always have a working internet connection.
Is this modem or kernel giving problems with the wifi hotspot, or i there something wrong with my hardware?
Thanks!

same problem for me...

[Q] WiFi Killing my AP

I've tried MIUI and CM7 but both have issues with my Dlink router. The phone connects to the wifi network and it works for a while. Then the Wifi on the router just dies. No devices are able to connect to the router (wired connections still works). Rebooting the router fixes the issue, but crashes after a while again.
Last modem I tried was JVQ, still same issue on MIUI galnet 3.4
Any settings / tweaks that need to be used?

Wifi hotspot.. limited connectivity

I have been facing the problem for the last week or so. I do-not get any internet connection through my phone's WiFi hotspot . The WiFi does connect to my windows 7 laptop , but then I don't get any internet connection ( windows says limited connectivity and I donot have this problem with USB tethering ). Does any body have any ideas on how to go about fixing this issue..?? Thanks
PS : I need WiFi hotspot ,as I often connect my lappy to it while charging and i do have other devices i need internet connection at times
I am currently on temasek's 129 kang and 725 BB/RIL
Anybody any hints or insights into.this one ???
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app
The other devices work? Try reconnecting with different security (open instead of wpa for example). Maybe your Laptop is not configured properly (fixed IP address, wrong network type, firewall, etc).
It is just guesswork on my end. There are too many variables unknown to give you better advice.
Last resort would be a full wipe of your o2x. But that is only a good idea if you have proven that other devices connected to your phone via wlan do not work as well and that your laptop is configured correctly.
Have a nice day!
Got resolved. Apparently I had used adhoc mode on my laptop to make my laptop a hotspot ..Even though I had deleted the adhoc connection , I had not turned off Internet connection sharing , this was causing this .. Blimey .. Hope windows had warned me about this instead of telling "limited conection "
well Dang
I just flashed cm10 Nightly, and cant use Wifi-hotspot,, First i thought it was RIL, but i learnd you dont mess with the RIL in CM10.. and it aint any problem with the computer, it can connect to other hotspots..
The built-in Hotspot thing is hanging in "starting hotspot" and from there i have to reboot to get it going again..and this one isnt even showing up on wireless networks on the Laptop,.. so.
I Downloaded a 3rd party , https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=android.tether
It seems very nice, and it goes saying in the log that it started up Okey, and the laptop can now se the "ad-hoc" wireless it created.. but when connecting and using the password, it aint doing nothing, no IP, no nothing.. and the app have a acces-control, where nothing is showing..
Any hints for me ? =)

CM10.1 T-Build Wifi Hotspot problem

Hey everyone! I'm on tonyp's CM10.1 and although the wifi hotspot is supposed to work mine just can't connect to Internet. It sets up the hotspot correctly and I can connect my computer to it and it first shows "Internet access". However, it just doesn't load any page and 30-ish seconds into it it starts saying "No Internet access".
I have tried this with CM10 Paranoid Android 2.6 too as well as with different Basebands (V20r 725, V30A &B) but the problem is just always there. On CM7 the hotspot works just fine for me. What could I do to try to solve this? Any help is highly appreciated!

Mi5 Pro WiFi 2.4GHz issues.

Hello forum members.
I want to share with You My Mi5 Pro WiFi problems, hoping someone can give advice so i can use my Mi5 Pro again.
The phone's WiFi has some issues:
It scan and display all networks, but can't connect to 2.4GHz networks.
It connects and work fine with some 5GHz networks. Also connect and work fine with 5GHz hotspot networks.
Bluetooth is working fine.
MiDrop can scan, but can't connect and transfer.
Hotspot is working only on 5GHz mode. On 2.4GHz can't share or connect to other.*
What I have tried to solve the issues:
Reset the phone.
Update the phone.
Flash other MIUI.
Unlock and flash other Android.
Rooted the phone and changed the WiFi MAC address (on MIUI).
Erased and flashed the modem (NON-HLOS.bin)(on MIUI).
No changes after all my attempts.*
And also, after all My attempts, I have noticed something. When I try to connect to 2.4GHz network (unsuccessful of course) and leave the WiFi on or off (the WiFi is not connected) , the phone's battery is draining very fast. If I connect to 5GHz network (successfully), and after that turn off the WiFi,**the battery is not draining fast.
If someone have any advice, or something I can check or share more info, I'm here and waiting.*
Thanks.
PS:Correction, 5GHz is not working with any router. More specifically, it's not working with most routers.
Maybe it's hardware problem. WIFI antenas disconnected?
Maybe, bit i hope it's software.
When i remove the antennas there is no wi-fi networks even detected, or only the closest ones are shown very weakly.
