I have tried various roms (AOSP and AOKP based) but always ended up low memory error. I do need many apps on the phone and I am tired of moving apps to sd card.
Is there any ROM that "trully" solves this issue ?
Well that depends on ur device

I have galaxy s GI-I9000, so what can be done to get rid of this low memory error ?
It has enough empty internal & external memory. Somewhere I read that this error is due to /datadata size. This is really an annoying error (was forced to move back to GB due to this).
What rom are u on stock???
I have 2 I9000 one is a t model both running custom roms both ics both run perfect no memory issues..

Hello guys ....
I m kind of new here...so i want to ask a little help..
This is the current of my phone configuration:
Firmware version= 2.3.3
Baseband version= I9000XXJVO
Kernel version= 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVH-CL184813 [email protected] #Dark_core_2.4 Mon May 16 15:02:38 EEST 2011
Build number= DarkyROM JVH v10.1
My phone always " force applications close". So,I want to try install ICS (look stable and smooth) in my phone but questions is which rom and kernel should i use..thank you for your concern
download team icssgs rc4.2 from devolopment and put onto internal sd card
boot in to recovery mode long press volume+, home, and power
click wipe data/factory reset
click wipe cache partition
click install from sd
click rc4.2
phone will bootloop when it does pull battery and go into recovery again
click install from sd
click rc4.2
and most of all click thanks if i helped you, cheers
Thanks sam...i wonder did you also use this version and how long ?
Can i have you current phone configuration, incase reference in hence..

ive been using it quite a while now and havent switched, im using a diferent kernel however, devil 14.2 but i hear 1.1.5 is just as good haven't tested yet
i would just use default settings and tweak as you get used to it, you can download nstools from market for tweaking also voodoo sound for audio tweaking
As above but don't forget to do a Nand backup. Some people have lost there IMEI numbers flashing Team ICSSG. (myself included - if it wasn't for the backup it is a mission to get the emia number back) I tried Team ICSSGS first and haven't looked back.
Semaphore 0.9.1 or Semaphore 0.8.1 are both great kernels. They both have similar speed as devil but have better battery life. (I've tried Devil 15.1 & 14.2, Semaphore 0.8, 0.8.1, 0.9 & 0.9.1)
ICSSGS RC4.2 doesn't have IMEI missing issue.
I tried installing top of stock ROM.
Just do a backup of "efs" folder which holds all the device identity details.
Incase if you loss your IMEI, you can simply replace "efs" folder to resolve the issue.
hi all
i am on overcome 4.1.0 at the moment.
just wondering if i should flash to ICS rom.
any suggestion?

that means for galaxy tab p1000, we should stay on 2.3.6 then...
why don't you give it a try and see if you like it.
you can always restock, flash overcome again.
for p1000 gb still the best rom. everything runing good and game runing better then ics.

Its first time i installed custom ROM CyanogenMod 10 with jellybean 4.1.1 in my galaxy s i9000 but i find out that internal memory is only 422MB while original stock ROM come with ample 1.5 gb internal memory. Why is that ? People get custom ROMs for improving their software. I also want to know that when you install custom ROMs your galaxy s i9000 still able to play video formats like divx/vidx ?
Thank you guys

If you are having a galaxy S I9000, then in stock rom your internal storage would be 1.8 GB and with CM10 and above it will be 1.46 GB. This is to ensure that adequate amount of space is available for system apps as size of a JB rom including google apps is much larger than a Gingerbread rom.
You can play all kind of video formats no matter what rom you are on.. try mxplayer.. I personally use that and it hasn't disappointed me yet.

Thanks for reply dude
Whatever you said make sense but my internal memory in CM10 is only 422 mb not 1.4 gb..its jelly bean 4.1.1
So i would have to install additional video player to play these video formats..i would not need to do this in stock ROM because it was built in there

If i remember right, old 4.1.1 Roms implemented this small partition layout (422 mb) for a short time but quickly revised to the big partition layout (1gb+).
I suggest you flash to the latest build 4.2.1 Roms.
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 C-RoM Mix v7
Kernel: Mackay 0.244

Hi, i have a samsung galaxy S i9000 and i'm kinda new with it
all i want is to make it faster because it runs very slow , i've seen youtube videos about testing some games on the same phone but some of them won't even open up. i got more interested in upgrading it and started searching around on how to. So here is what i want to do:
I want to upgrade it by changing my Rom in Cyanogen 9 and kernel Devil 3. I don't even know if it is good but i'm sure its better than gingerbread.
Can some1 help me out with it , maybe post a little tutorial how to do it.
Aditional info :
-I don't want so save anything from it
-It's rooted
-Firmware version: 2.3.6
-Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-i9000XXJVU-CL851880 [email protected] #2

CyanogenMod (CM) 9 is really outdated. If you want a good, fast ROM I can recommend Slimbean. It's largely based on CM. You can find more info here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060374
Detailed instructions can be found in that thread and on the slimrom website.
Coming from Gingerbread you'll need to install CM10 first, otherwise you will lose your IMEI, which will render your phone unable to make or place calls. Once on CM10 you can then flash Slimbean.
Or using an newer version of CM

Now that i got the cm10 ive searched around videos on youtube and seen lot of ppl kinda overclocking it with diferent kernel...
I want to do it like with semaphore or some kernel thing... can someone explain to me how it is done and if it is good for the phone?
Some infos:
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband vers: I9000xxJVT
Kernel version: 3.0.76-gc0a8d45
Memory: 369 mb
Cm vers: 10.1.2-galaxysmtd
Okay different kernel i have no experience with it ,sorry...
But overclocking is available with the stock-kernel in CM 10 ...to about 1200mhz in the performance menu under your settings ...have you activate developer options and performance...do you know how to do it???

Some Qs:
Do i flash semaphore kernel same way i installed ROM?
Will semaphore replace current ROM (cm10)??
Did some1 had any problems with semaphore kernel ? like bricking the phone? is it stable?
Is anyone at the current time having cm10 with smaphore kernel overclocking at 1.2ghz ?
Does Sgs i9k support the overclock stable?

You flash semaphore the same way you flashed your rom and it will replace stock cm kernel your rom will stay the same make sure you flash the right version to avoid any bricking. It makes cm run better. Overclock depends on your phone some people can overclock high some not so much. Download semaphore changer governor to sio and liveoc to 110% and set min frequenci 400Mhz. That should be enough to make it supper smooth

I don't get it why do you want to flash another kernel? Aren't you happy now with smooth CM10.1x? Here on this forum are many flashing freaks who flash and overclock their phones until the device completely crashes.
CM10.1x is excellent already way it is, if you want to even improve it (first of all to get about double battery life) just upgrade it to the newest nightly version of CM10.2 tomorrow (build 20130828), it will finally have all bigger bugs fixed. Very soon, stable CM.10.2 build will be released out of this nightly. This is the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385178
If you want to do it, just mind that the developer (pawitp) doesn't mention anymore installing gapps, so this would be the workflow from your present ROM:
Do a Nandroid Backup of your CM10.1.2 build before the upgrade!
Go to CWM recovery mode and check first in "install zip" if your zips of the CM10.2 and Gapps for 4.3 are visible on your internal SD card
Wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache (under "advanced")
Install the nightly ROM zip from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Install Gapps for CM10.2 (Android version 4.3) while still in recovery
Restore /data from Nandroid Backup (the update will wipe your /data) while still in recovery
Reboot system
The partition layout of CM10.2 (beginning from 20130816 nightly) differs of that of CM10/CM10.1. The first install will wipe your /data to switch to the new layout, but after that you may use CWM to restore/backup data of CM10/10.1/10.2 (in CWM recovery under "advanced restore" then "restore data" from your CM10.1 nandroid backup)
This way done, you should have all data, wallpaper, widgets and apps like in your CM10.1 right after the reboot. And wait until tomorrow, when the 20130828 nightly gets released. I've been using "buggy" builds (nightlies between 24 and 27 Aug) without any problems, but some people had problems with them.

Read this.
If you want a fast device then try Mackay ICS.
For gaming try CyanAOSP (Jelly Bean), CyanAOSP (KitKat).
For customizations try Cyanogenmod or Cyanogenmod based ROMS.
Also Omni is pretty good.

That's a good choice. To take advantage of the Semaphore's kernel features download Semaphore Manager from Play Store.
If you want to overclock your device choose 1.2 MHz and the ondemand Governor. Also for 400+ MB of RAM choose the s Semaphore version and also download the Bigmem libs.

Yes you can but not with Semaphore kernel. Mackay kernel supports up to 1.4 MHz.
Keep in mind that with clock speeds over 1.2 MHz you will experience a lot of crashes and reboots, your device will get hot etc.
Now i understood thanks!

You might lose your IMEI if you install 4.4 straight from stock. The right way is to install ICS first then JB and finally KK (or you can install KK straight from ICS).

Hi to all
After to try upgrade my GT-I9000 by KIES (realy bad choice) my phone crash and can't coming back in original without any issues.
I was going and in samsung service to setback but the problems are still there.
Boot freezings and random of sorry the android.process.media has stopped. acore, keybord etc.
I try to fix them first by cache or apps settings but no luck- i was try everything.
Next step for - i had a feeling my phone is not dead and i can't to use it like this - is try to fount a rom in all net.
To many rom's and installs clears with full format or not - with xp,7 or 8 - but all they have same problems (slim,paranoid,etc.). Full of Sorry's that service or other has stop and press the ok every sec.or rom apps crash down or freezings and next black screen or freezing and many reboot's auto.
2 weeks try and try again. It must to save my phone.
And yesterday i try another rom.
1. set (must have) the I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA by ODIN 1.83 with repartition s1_odin_20100512.pit
1st reboot auto and freezing again (many auto reboots) but final open the phone in settings.I didn't stop so must see the next step
2. Set Kernel by Odin again CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.
The phone reboot but boot over and over without go in. Again i didn't stop so i go in recovery (other way to take the install file) and mount usb (i can't go in phone) and take the ICS_4.0.3_MR1-RC4.2_I9000 rom in internal sd (no external sd and no sim in the phone).
3. Clear the data/factory, reset data cache and dalvic cache and install it (i can say the install it was slowest by the others rom's and more stady in the load bar).
No extra gapps files to install need.
The phone auto reboot and i wait with hope again.
Boom. The phone open in the setting without single problem.:victory:
The Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 is there all works perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I save my phone and is realy fast because the phone have a realy good hardwear.
So the Final answer is the rom must fit in your phone
I hope to help i wish a nice day to all.
