[Q] How to Remove Drive Smart from Settings? App data? - Android Themes

I've removed the APK files of Drive Smart in Terminal Emulator. I can't seem to figure out how to remove Drive Smart from the Settings. My phone is rooted, I have Super User and Terminal Emulator. I am very new to Android and Linux world. Please someone help me with step by step instructions on how to remove Drive Smart from the Settings with apps I have. I've removed APK files of all bloatware and apps that I don't use. Is that all I have to do remove? What about the app data?

I want to install Opera Mini on my G1. the apk is out there but I can not figure out a way to make it run load do anything. Anyone no how to make this happen?
For those wondering why I want Opera Mini is becoz I really like Opera mini in a hurry.
You have to make sure to check the box that says allow outside downloads. But the opera mini wont work its for the old beta emulator and will not load on thre G1.
install???
How exactly do we install third party off the market apps??? I have apk extensions. now what???
Credits go to: Blogsdna.com
I have seen on many users asking on forum what is .apk file ? How to install .apk app on G1 phone ? How to install non market apk apps on android ? etc. A apk file is “android package file” with the extension ‘.apk’ use to install any application on Google Android powered mobile phone. So incase you need to install any application on your android phone you need to have file with .apk format.
Installing any application on google android is pretty easy but installing non market apps on android phone is little tricky one. Well don’t worry here is guide for installing .apk apps on android phones.
How to Install .Apk Apps on Google Android G1 Phone
1. Install and open the Apps Installer application from the Android Market.
2. This opens a view showing *.apk application names in the sdcard root directory.(note, if no AppNames are listed you have no .apk files in the root directory of the SDCard)
3. Touch the app name to initiate installation of the app.
4. The app is now installed
How to Non-Market .Apk Application on Google Android G1 Phone
1. Download and install Google Android SDK.
2. Now type adb in a command shell will display all the options, adb.exe is SDK tool used to install applications and interface with the device.
3. Now Connect Your G1 Phone to your computer using USB cable. You need to install Drivers for this. Download Android USB drivers from here. This driver is required for adb to interface with an android G1 phone using USB cable.
4. Go to Settings/SD card & phone storage and Unmount/eject SD Card. You can enable it again later after you installed your third-party application.
5. Go to Settings/Application settings and enable Unknown sources.
6. Download the Application installer .apk file to a local folder on your computer, Now type below command at command shell to install app.
adb install <Full Path to apk file><apk file name>
The above guide is only application for windows XP users and Windows Vista users wont be able to use it, since android sdk for windows vista is not available.

I have Opera mini 4.2 apk in my files if you need it.

There's no such menu. i.e. "disable Use for USB storage" at "Settings/SD card & phone storage" in T-mobile G1.
To enable ADB, you'll need to turn on "USB debugging" in Settings - Application settings - Development.
Opera mini 4.2 beta is on marketplace now anyway.
actually, there is another way. download the app from the internet (either using Android or PC) and move it to the SD card. then download any file browser app (such as IO File Manager) from Android market. open file browser app and locate the downloaded app from the internet and open it. that's it...
Can you add Twidroid to the mix

Thanks!
this should b made a sticky
FYI: Opera is also on SlideME Marketplace. You can install directly from within SAM. It's under "Communications" category.
If you don't have SAM, just visit http://SlideME.org/sam2 from your G1 and download SAM.
help... please? lol
okay i've read through a lot of threads the past couple hours and i just can't figure this out. i can't install 3rd party apps using apps installer or a file manager, but i can install perfectly fine from the market. it tells me that i need to free up some space in order to do so. i have the box checked and such for installing 3rd party apps in settings, and i'm running JF1.42 RC33... what the heck could the problem [email protected]
might be a dumb question, but do you have enough space(mine starts complaining @ less than 5mb left)? menu-settings-storage-internal space.
try adb install, if previous post doesn't help
aye, i'm well above 5MB even without the /data/data move and the /app move, i believe i'm somewhere around 25mb if i keep everything on my phone. so you think the ADB install will fix this? i will have to try it when i get off of work, i don't think the DoD will take kindly to me using their computers for it lol. what thread is that listed under?
Very Simple to install downloaded apk apps!!!
1. Go into menu/settings/applications and check the box allow install of non-market applications.
2. Then download the app: ApkInstaller
Once you do this, you download the apk file from the internet. Save it somewhere on your memory card. Open ApkInstaller and search for the file on your memory card and install.
It's just that simple. I do it all of the time.
Have fun!
Install .apk
Through Terminal Emulator without adb or another install application (AppsInstaller):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3425442#post3425442
All these methods seem pretty confusing... All I do is just click allow third party apps and then click the .apk file in oi file manager.
If you realize when this thread was created, there was no file manager

Bloatware removal on LG L90

I have successfully rooted my LG L90 and LG L70. I have install App Master to uninstall apps. What bloatware can I delete to make more internal space ? I have removed some but with backup copy. If anyone has a list that would be helpful.
thank you in advance :fingers-crossed:
You can delete all of them, only ones that are kinda not to be deleted are apps like file manager, music, etc, but you can freely delete those if you have better user apps installed (Like ES File Explorer and Musixmatch). And you might want to consider partitioning your phone, gives +2GB if sucessfull.
1.) how do i partition the phone to get the extra 2G ?
2.) I must have deleted some file and now on the screen lock page the none, swipe and knock code are disabled.
3.) Deleted all Google apps except play services and store.
4.) Still getting the "Unable to download. Please try again later" notification. How can I get rid of it ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you in advance

Remove bloatware apps on realme xt [no root]

Hi guys, most of the Realme users aren't a fan of the color OS since its heavy, looks immature, and filled with bloatware. However there is a way to remove all the bloatware in Color OS. NO ROOT IS REQUIRED AND ITS NOOB FRIENDLY.
Code:
* DO NOT REMOVE ANY IMPORTANT SYSTEM APP, I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE IF SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENS WITH YOUR DEVICE ;_;
REQUIREMENTS:
1. A PC/laptop with drivers and minimal ADB installed.
2. Realme XT, and a type-C USB cable to connect the device to the computer/laptop.
3. Package viewer app that can be installed from Playstore. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.csdroid.pkg&hl=en_US
PROCEDURE:
Firstly, go to settings, click on 'About Phone' and continuously tap the Version until it says that 'now your'e a developer'. Then go to additional settings, developer options, enable it and turn on the "USB DEBUGGING" option under developer options.
1. Now connect your phone to PC/laptop using the data cable, and choose transfer files option from the popup on your phone.
2. Now migrate to the folder where minimal ADB is installed, and hold shift key and right click on mouse button, and click on 'Open Powershell window here'.
3. Now type 'adb devices' on the powershell window, and allow access from from device. A serial code must be shown on your screen.
4. Now type 'adb shell' and press enter. Now a new line should come starting with "RMX1921:/ $" , means we are good to go.
5. Now you have to enter commands to remove apps. The command is 'pm uninstall -k --user 0 package name' then press enter. In the place of package name, you have to type the name of the package which needs to be installed. Now open the package viewer app and look for the package name of the app which needs to be removed. You can remove the built-in bowser, calculator, compass, app market, music, roaming, video, weather, etc.
For example, if you need to remove browser, the command which you have to type is, 'pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.nearme.browser' then press enter. You'll see a message saying success. Bullseye! Happy bloatware removing!!
6. If you wanna install any app again, in adb shell, type "cmd package install-existing <package name>" and the particular app will be reinstalled.
COMMANDS USED:(Type these after typing "adb shell")
*For removing an app,
Code:
pm uninstall -k --user 0 <package name>
*For installing it back,
Code:
cmd package install-existing <package name>
If you have any doubts, feel free to comment. I'll be happy to help you.
Thank you. Cheers.

There won't be any issues, coz the system update won't cause any changes to the apps.

You can remove the apps which are provided by realme, like their browser, app market, compass, roaming, weather etc. Don't remove any system apps. (Google related and framework related apps).
This is a really good info. Thanks a ton for this procedure of bloatware removal. I was really searching for root to remove these bloatwares. But without root this is awesome.
Tell me one thing, by same procedure can we install any app as system app?

Can you please elaborate on this further?
These are the apps I'm planning to get rid of, but due to the lack of adequate information I'm reluctant to actually uninstall them, anticipating whether the action may cause system wide instability.
Clone Phone
Game Center (however, I could NOT find any package name for this one on App Inspaector)
File Manager (I want to replace it with Solid Explorer Pro)
Messages (I want to make Microsoft SMS Organiser as one and only messaging app; hence, this one is important)
Photos (want to replace it by Google Photos)
I tried deleting all of them once - which resulted me unable to select ringtone/notification/alarmtone of my choice - forcing me to factory reset the phone.
Yes, I know I can assign default apps through the app manager setting - but what is the point of keeping two messaging apps (or for that matter, two gallery apps)?
I need to have these information about the cross-dependencies of these apps with the system wide instability issues. Thanks in advance.
could you share the list of maximum number of bloatware, those can be removed safely without tampering os?

Of these apps, you can remove clone phone. It won't cause any issue. You can't remove game centre (since the package name is unknown). Since file manager is linked with the ringtone selection, don't remove it too. Photos and Messages can be removed.
However i would recommend you to remove clone phone and photos app from your mentioned list of apps, since others are framework related apps.

As i said previously, you can remove the bloatware related to color OS. I can give the list of apps which i have removed, and i have no issues with the OS.
1. App market
2. Browser
3. Calculator
4. Clone phone
5. Keep notes
6. Music
7. Video Player
8. Weather and weather services
9. YouTube.
Do not remove any framework related apps like file manager. I'm not responsible if any unstablity occurs due to the removal of framework apps.

its quite common.. just enjoy the phone
The package name for Game Center is com.nearme.gamecenter but every time I try to uninstall it, the prompt just tells me its failed [delete_failed_internal_error]
Anyone know a way around this?
how to restore uninstalled app later?
I tried pm disable but it is error so uninstall is the only way to do it, it is just to make sure I'm able to restore it if needed or have stability problem later.
addtional APP's that can be uninstalled

You can perform a factory reset to restore your phone to original state. All the removed bloatware apps will be reinstalled. Or else, you can just use the command to reinstall the particular app. The command is given in the first post.

ADB Bloatware Removal

If i remove all Bixby Apps or other unncessary apps via ADB Method will it mess with the system?
Yes it will they are system apps for a reason. You can try deleting the system apps that you know you really don't need. Be carefull any wrong app removed and your phone will not work properly and you will need to flash the rom again.

You can do that compeltely with root, by erasing the file from your root folder, or you can hide the app via adb and without root. In both case the app won't show up, but if you reset your phone the app will come back if you used the adb method.
Every apps can't be uninstalled/hiden without troubles. Some apps are necessary to your phone, but if you're talking about preinstalled facebook or something like that then no problem.
If you're not sure tell me what app you want to remove, I'll tell you if it's cool or not.
Here's an article on how to do it with adb:
