[Q] Bricked S1 Auto-booting - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I'm having strange troubles with my galaxy S1 i9000
Problem: Phone wil auto reboot as soon as you put in the battery no buttons have to be pushed anymore to make it boot up !
When it boots up it only does that for a few seconds, just enough to see the samsung logo then it goes off again.
Download mode is to be accessed but only for a few seconds, no mather what it shuts down completely and starts over.
Recovery mode is not working at all !
Download mode: time too short for my pc to recognize the usb device.
How did this happen ? The phone was currently running on ICS_4.0.3_MR1-RC4.2_I9000 with no major problems !
I only had some problems with use of few apps and the camera but that was fixed with a fix permissons setting. (that was earlier that day)
The error occured during the charging of the battery that evening, it just started booting over and over
The only way to stop this is pulling out the battery, but when it is inserted again it starts rebooting again.
Also I opened up the phone to look inside for dirt or other problems also cleaned out the usb port and other holes with compressed air. the inside looks okay to me all buttons feel fine too.
I already searched this forum about this problem there were few who had 'similar' problems but they were lucky to have warranty my phone is beyond that I supose with 2 years of age
The ones with warranty send it back to repairs and got it working again after a software mod and an hardware replacement they do not know or said what the hardware replacement was...
Hopefully there is someone who know's this problem and can suggest how i can fix this ?
Thanks in advance !

Does the download more works? Try to push VolDown+Home+Power even if it is
in this bootloop. After some time I think it must show the yellow logo of download
mode... Did you try it?

Yes I tried this... As I said it will go into download mode (with the yellow logo) but only for a few seconds then it reboots !
I also tried it with a Jig but with same result

I had the same problem yesterday, running off FW 2.3.6 . Kies wanted to update the firmware, but it stopped after 15 %, and basically trashed the OS.
Phone kept booting by itself, and shut off by itself.
The trick here was to take out sim, and mem card, use VOL UP ( not down ) , select ( bottom ) and then power.
Then i could do a factory reset ( you get the screen with the options )and with Odin i could load a old 2.3.4 FW.
maybe this helps ?
GR r

Well i've made some progress in the rebooting problem !
The phone is not auto-booting anymore it just stopped doing that after continiously trying to get it in download or recovery mode.
However I got it in download mode and was able to flash the rom to stock via odin !
Now the device is working again but there still is one problem the on/off switch seems to be broken !
Once it rebooted via odin it could not be turned off the normal way, only by pulling out the battery.
So I opened up the phone again and found out that on the flatwire towards the on/off switch it has a tiny round scratchmark probably caused by the leverage witch holds the plastic button in place on the edgecasing of the phone.
I'l try to get a picture of this here:

}
On the left side you have the button, al little to the right in the flatwire there is a dark spot ! that is where the wire is damaged !
So if anyone knows where I can buy a new powerbutton ? Feel free to contact me
Already ordered parts online ! so I think the phone will be fine next week !
Thanks for the help and suggestions !

[Q] Frozen at boot screen

i just bought the captivate off my friend for 150 the problem is when you turn the phone the screen stays on the att world phone screen and then you can hear sound but the screen stays the same and it doesnt change so i was wondering if there is a way to fix this
Do you know if your friend kept it stock?
honestly i have no clue but i believe he did
Sounds like he didn't and that's why he sold it so cheap. Go to this thread and get the tools you will be needing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818439. Install the drivers then download the .zip and extract the files, download the pda.tar. Run Odin as administrator put the pda.tar in the pda slot and the pit file in the pit slot.
Next power off the phone and remove the SIM, your external sd card and battery. Plug the usb cable into the computer only then press and hold the volume up and down buttons at the same time, don't touch power, put the battery in and plug the usb into the phone. You should be in download mode, Odin should see your phone push start and let Odin run. This will take you to a working phone, just like it was when it came from AT&T.
Good luck and let us know if it works.
First of can you should never have paid him for the phone if it wasn't fully working when you got it.
Second can you get into download mode? If so then get the one click odin and flash back to stock and you will have a working phone. If you can't get into download mode then demand your money back from him and drop him as a friend.

I linked him to c3poLOL's Odin package instead that way if he has a borked three button combo this will fix that too. I agree, not a good friend, sounds like he soft bricked it before selling it. Should be fixable and then it's a steal, if it was off contract.
You sure he is a friend
Captivate
Cog 2.2
this didnt work because the phone did not show up on my computer even after i installed the drivers and odin
Try using a different usb port on your pc, one in the back where the motherboard is, perhaps you need more power, I've seen this happen. Are you familiar with adb? Are you able to get into download or recovery mode using the three button combo. ADB will work from the recovery screen.
I had the same issue today someones rom screwed up my phone and it would boot up with sound, but be stuck at the att screen. Wasnt able to activate download mode with buttons or adb, because permissions werent granted. So my advice for anyone else that has this problem get superoneclick to root your device and get permissions ( I used Z4 root which i will never do again) and run cmd.exe type in the path you have for example mine was C:\Users\PEGLEG\android-sdk-windows\tools\adb shell (modify it for where you have yours, then type in reboot download, and you should get into the download screen where odin will fix your device.
my phone is also "frozen" at a boot up screen.

[Q] Bricked. Three-button won't work! Help!

So I was reverting to Rogers stock on my Captivate so I could flash a new ROM when Windows explorer crashed mid-process, causing Heimdall to fail and brick my phone (got the Phone-!-Computer screen). After reading around, I found the 3-button method and tried it, which got me back into Download mode. I used Odin3 to flash AT&T Stock, but when trying to install clockwork recovery I kept getting an error. Looking through OTHER threads, I found that the recovery could be flashed using Odin, so I went back into download mode and started it flashing. Then Odin crapped out and bricked my phone AGAIN! Now the 3-button method won't work, and I'm back at the Phone-!-Computer screen. Computer won't recognize the phone at all, and I can't get back into Download mode. What do I do?
Did you try this:
1. Start Odin
2. Plug USB cable into computer
3. Remove the battery from the phone
4. Plug the cable into the phone
5. Hold down both volume buttons
6. Put in the battery
Hopefully that'll get you into download mode if not look into making a JIG.
Sent from my Captivate
No go. Won't boot into Download mode. If 3-button boot was disabled or something I'm SOL. Gonna have to make a jig I guess. Ffffff---

Ok. Remove everything. Start odin. Connect usb cable. Press all three buttons, insert battery, release power button ONLY. Done!

Start it up plug the phone to the comp. If you see the fastboot usb in red at the top left hand corner then there's still hope!
If not you better save up for another phone.

Unfortunately this IS a new phone. I've had it for about a day and a half. The three-button method for getting into download mode isn't working at all -- it just sits at the Phone!PC screen. Gonna try to assemble a JIG tomorrow -- otherwise I'll have to take it back, and who knows if they'll replace it.

They will never know that you messed with it if they can't turn on the phone to check.
So I think your safe.

Fixed! And with a ****ty, solder-free JIG no less! Wrestled with it for a bit and Heimdall wasn't cooperating, either, but I got it going.
Pics for your viewing pleasure.

An iGo power tip, three 300k resistors taped together, two alligator clips and a pair of clothespins later, and my phone works!
That's awesome! I'm glad you got everything worked out. Btw did your three button work before?
Sent from my Captivate
It worked initially, before flashing the AT&T firmware the first time. Second go when it bricked itself during Heimdall's update to Rogers stock 3-button wouldn't work -- hence the need to macguyver the above JIG.

[Q] Home button does not work

My phone recently got bricked to the point where i could not restore it myself, therefor i sent it to the place i bought it and they managed to repair that but unfortunately a new problem appeared then, now the home button does not work at all and the lock/power button only works half, its the same either im in recovery mode or if im fully booted up. I can turn on the phone after alot of tries but it doesnt seem like it works at all when it booted, i cant do the 3 button combo because the home button doesn't work but i can get in their by rebooting in to recovery mode. I can't flash anything in cwm since i cant select anything with the home button not working, can i restore a backup with a different method?. To me it seems like an hardware issue but i have no idea. I havn't been able to find a solution my self and i would like to avoid sending it in again.
Save your apps.
Reboot in recovery with a software and use Odin to reflash.
Reply me for more info
I guess you mean download mode? not recovery?
I can't seem to get it into that, i tried with adb with the command "adb reboot download" but that just reboots it normally
If the buttons aren't working properly in recovery mode how can software fix this then ? I think the only option is a replacement
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
Thats what i think aswell, but it seems strange that it would happend. The guy who fixed the phone said he had no problems with it, i doubt he would lie. And i dont think it would happend under transportation, it was solid packed.
if the home button doesnt work it's maybe base firmware (bootloader) who is damaged.
Let me explain
Here we have the boot process of android phones.

the base firmware that i talked (the bootloader) detect the hardware but if it doesnt do it it's because it's damaged.
It's my theory but it can be false.
I advise you to save your apps with TB and reflash with Odin with PIT 512
Please reply me
Thanks for the reply, good post.
But i can't seem to get into download mode, not even with adb, it just reboots normally.
I have ordered a USB jig but it will take a while before it gets here, i'm looking into making one my self i just have to get a resistor.
It appears it is a hardware problem, if you press real hard on the home button it will register it, i managed to flash another ROM but it did nothing. I guess i have to replace the button my self or get it repaired by the place i got it or a shop that specializes in Android phones.

Bricked s3 mini i8200n "Firmware encountered an issue" loop

Hey guys,
So recently i bricked my galaxy s3 mini value edition by trying to flash a stock rom using odin, through out the process something happened and it discounted. So now whenever i turn on the phone i get the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue" error message. It's a loop, which means i can not access the recovery mode nor download mode, either the side buttons works. After trying and trying, my phone slowly died out. Now it does not even turn on, it will only turn on when i charge it with a usb cable.
I tried everything i could, Searched and searched about this model and tried to re-flash but nothing is working?
Can anyone help me revive this phone? It's Samsung galaxy s3 mini i8200N value edition model running on 4.2.2
Hello, currently no one was able to solve this Kind of error with kies loop.. i did found 2 methods and the reason why it no more turns on.
First of all the problem is with this kies loop error your phone will no more Charge.
To solve you just need to Charge the battery outside your mobile phone.
I self bought cheap 3 time samsung s3 mini and tested debugged the problem.
So if you have friend with same battery/phone just use the other battery.
You can buy the phone for like 10$ in ebay auction then put other battery in the problem phone and the error loop will be gone and phone will stay turned on. (It is mostly when flashing the mobile with less then 60% battery loaded or got unplugged or wrong flashing rom was used etc)
Other method is to change battery self with other battery like remote control battery and cables where you put cable in the right battery PINs.
Then just try to put Rom Stock firmware in your phone with kies, smart switch or odin.

1. Open Odin 3.14.4 as Administrator! (Important open as Administrator Odin otherwhise it will not work and Mobile will turn hot and waste hour time)
2. Open StockRecovery-i8200.tar
md5 (use your mobile model number insted i8200 if using other model)
3. Then click Start in Odin (will Show instantly after seconds PASS so Works)
4. Restart your mobile phone with Buttons ON + VOLUMEN DOWN + HOME BUTTON
5. TADA ..... AND DOWNLOAD MODE WORKS AGAIN AND JUST PUSH WITH ODIN THE STOCK FIRMWARE ROM FOR YOUR MODEL PHONE INTO YOUR MOBILE
PHONE IS REPAIRED/FIXED
If you like my 0Day one and only method which works and solves the error in whole internet, buy Babatools.com Membership and be part of my community if you want, but is not needed.

LG L90 D410 showing 0% battery and bootloop

Hi,
My friend approached me with his LG L90 D410 and told me to try to get his phone out of bootloop.
Prerequisites:
He says his phone was rooted, but then he saw update of kingroot and he did that update and after that phone rebooted and it's stuck there ever since.
What have I tried:
I have brought many of my friends' and my phones back to life. But this one is a new case for me. Phone is stuck on 0%. I have charged it for hours, on putting on charging, phone shows 0%(like in image below) , then it shows LG logo for 3-5 seconds and then it reboots and again same 0%, then LG logo and reboot.
If I remove it from charge, it just reboots on 0% sign until it dies. Doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.
I can't get into recovery or download/software mode as you call it. I have tried all possible combinations of keys, doesn't work, laptop can't recognize it fully. Installed drivers too, still nothing.
(to confirm, please someone give me keys combination for both recovery and software mode.)
I have Googled, looked into forums and sites, can't find a solution. Sorry if this was already encountered by someone.
I know I have to get it back to stock ROM using KDZ, but phone should have some charge first to get into download mode and such. Any help is appreciated!

Download mode is activated when you connect a turned off L90 with a volume button pressed (I don't remember now if up or down, you can confirm it eksewhere), even without battery as far as I know since it's powered via USB. So I don't think battery would be a problem. Unfortunately I can't confirm this as I don't have an L90 anymore...
If you can access fastboot you can try to boot recovery, not sure about download mode. If you don't have download then you can try the unbrick had med brick tutorial.

Hi,
Thanks for reply!
I tried with removing the battery and all key combinations, but the phone just seems out of juice. It shows this symbol when connected without battery(shown in pic below). How do I access fastboot on this phone?
EDIT: I got the guide to access fastboot but phone doesnt even stay on for like 10 seconds, it just keeps rebooting from the 0% status to LG logo.

Thank you very much.. I will try this solution and report back!
Well, if it shows LG logo it tries to boot so maybe it's not hard bricked. But if you are sure the volume keys are fine then it's probably it by the other hand... If you can't get download mode nor recovery and the keys are fine then you need the tutorial about hard bricked phones indeed.
