Hi,
I have an SGS GT-I9000 (T-Mobile UK), I had stock ROM 2.1-update1 a week ago (this was my Mum's phone, now mine). As I already have one phone I decided to root this and install CM7 using the latest wiki instructions (Heimdall, ROM Manager) including CWM, this rooted, unlocked, updated.. Of note, my phone does not have the 3BR, I have not yet fixed that with Odin, I have made a 301K Jig. The phone also has a forced upload mode immediately displayed while phone on and pressing Home+Up.
After installing CM7 (phone wasn't fully charged during install, a friend was helping me and it was taking too long to charge again after failing to unlock the network via adb for some time) the battery was not full, I used the phone for a while and plugged in later. The problem is that it got to ~54% and didn't move for an hour or so, battery would quickly drop a percent or two again. At this point the iPod wall socket displaying as "charging (USB)" in About.
I reset the battery stats in CWM which did nothing to the current battery level reading of 54%. I flattened the battery with GPS, speaker, WiFi tether, etc. got to 1% then turned off after a while, would not turn on again. So I charged with an HTC wall charger, which forces the phone to be fully awake thanks to CM7, also showing AC as the source this time, but although the battery quickly reached 10% and 30%, it did not pass 66% after more than 12 hours charging.
I am happy with the usage (~day) I get from this phone, but I would like it to say 100% occasionally.
I will flatten the battery again, then plug in to switch on, followed immediately by reboot into recovery (an option in CM), then I will leave it over night ~7-8 hours charging in recovery, and perform another stats wipe. I have read that without 3BR I may never get my phone on again (low bat boot loop) if it gets too flat, I hope that doesn't happen (didn't last time, before I read that).
Any help?
Also, there is one other thread about never fully charging: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780340 but the OP says that it displays 100% but keeps on charging anyway.
Just run it through a full charge cycle 2 or 3 times, its just lost is head,it comes back,...........im on insanity cm 022.....happened to me

Still not charging
Hi, thanks for your advice, I have now completed several full cycles and with patience I am getting 100%. The problem still exists though, it take 24-26 hours to charge from 0 to 100% even with flight mode on for half of that time, longer if not. I am using an AC charger (as recognised in the battery menu). I do get about 12 hours of light usage from the phone, but will lose the first 10% while browsing the internet even while still plugged in.
Any further advice would be greatly appreciated. (I have tried a couple of different wires and plugs, some say USB, others AC).
S
P.S. I am considering finding a stock ROM and fixed 3BR partition and reverting back to a better than before stock, unlocked, unrooted system.

Baring in mind that batteries never charge to 100% dude even when it says it has, this is a safety feature to prevent over charging and exploding batteries, I'd go through the cycle again, let your battery go dead, try switching it on to make sure the batteries dead, then whilst off, charge your phone till full, then unplug and plug in again to make sure its full, then if its full boot immediately into recovery and delete battery stats, repeat these steps another 2-3 times bud

Cheers, I can't charge with the phone off though, another reason for going back to stock maybe (or removing clockworkmod). I would have expected batteries to trail off near the limits, but the charge rate is fairly consistent throughout. I shall keep cycling the battery and resetting the stats though, so far no improvement, it's just an inconvenience to be without a phone every other day.
I know the feeling bud and I know its tedious, but keep at it and it should get better pretty soon so long as you stick to the cycle

My galaxy ace is totaly crazy now.
I took it from charger, after 20 minutes it 50%, after 5 minutes i get warning and it reboots. After booting it show me warning and again reboot. After 5-10 times it just blinking. I cant go into recovery or even turnt it of.
I pull out battery, wait a minute, insert back. Then I connect charger and boot device...and the battery is 100%! what is going on?
i've already:
re-flashed 3 firmwares
cleaned battery stats
here you can see how big is battery drain and a fact that battery is nearly 100% after connecting charger.

If it actually is a battery problem, why isn't he able to turn off his phone? Any ideas?

Hard to know but it could be that the voltage from the battery is so low or fluctuating so much that the power switch is unable to function.
Similar to your TV remote where you sometimes need to jiggle the batteries slightly to make it work properly.
The first thing I would try and rule out is the battery... it's a relatively easy and inexpensive fix if that's the problem (ebay is your friend).

Don't excessively flash ROMs
revert to Stock ROM for the timebeing
And don't Delete/wipe battery stats because after every successful 100% charge the battery_Stats.bin file gets deleted and regenerated.
so deleting that bin file wont help
next, check if the contacts of your battery are intact and that they are not covered with dust
when you connect the charger cable to your phone then check if the cable is properly inserted or not,if no then insert it properly
If none of this solves your problem then i must say mate that you need to change the battery.
are you sure that it is a battery problem? :-?

I can take that into consideration but the analogy you gave doesn't seem to be that convincing. Sometimes it may be due to the unclean android system that causes all this & I best know how it drained my battery in less than 30 minutes but I still use the same & it lasts a day now. But it may even be the battery or may be anything else. Who knows? !:screwy:
@OP : Try a full wipe & a reflash. If that doesn't help, go to the sammies or buy a new battery.

So I seem to have a strange problem; my phone seems to be unable to charge my battery beyond let's say 10%. For the first couple of minute when I charge the phone via a usb connection with my pc; it displays a battery filled about 5% accoumpanied by a yellow triangle and a black exclamation mark in the triangle. Then after some times of leaving it in the pc; it does show the original battery screen, a battery filled up to about 10% with five black/grey dots underneath it, and one-by-one these dots light up.
I am on a rooted xxla4 rom with the accompanying kernel..... (I can't perform a "wipe battery stats from this CWM version" and I would like to stay on this rom, because it at least a bit like the stock rom, since I don't know whether with this battery situation I will ever get enough battery to install the stock rom again with odin 3.04 )
**Originally I was a while on Asylum 10.1, but then I tried out Parandroid 2.99 beta and to improve the performance I installed Rhythum kernel, when I was a Asylum about two days ago and everthing still worked properly I had about 7 hours of battery life and my phone charged (with the wall charger) to about 100% in three hours. I can't imagine a battery to break within 72 hours and I also can't imagine Rhythum kernel or Parandroid to have caused this, but if I am wrong PLEASE CORRECT ME.
Hi,
If i were you, i'd flash a kernel that supports remove battery stats and remove them.
If that doesn't work, you could try to flash your rom again, but this one is tricky...
because your phone doesn't charge further then 10%.
I don't know about the rom you said, but use a rom without aroma to be sure the least battery is drained...
I hope this will help you.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Kreekhoorn
**Not to forget to keep your phone into the charger (wallcharger) while flashing, just to save battery.
Do a battery calibration using apps in the store, may be the 10% is 100%
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Well, the 10%, regretfully isn't a 100%, because the phone kicks me out after about 5 minutes, because it says the battery is empty. I also can't use the battery calibration, because these apps say the phone isn't fully charged so they close.....
(flashing a kernel is possible, but because I can't get into the phone anymore; the battery now remains dead. It seems I am quite cornered now)
**But do you guys think this problem is purely battery related or do you think the phone itself is broken, I mean if just the battery is broken, I might just get a new one, but I don't want to buy a battery to find out the phone itself is actually broken....:crying:
I would first try a different battery
I will need to buy one either way, since I don't own a spare battery and don't know anyone with a spare battery...
**Recently I tried to flash Asylum back on my Note, because it had a kernel which is able to remove the battery stats, but Mobile ODIN got stuck at about 12% of flashing the rom-> so now when I put the phone into the charger, it does not get beyond the picture of the battery with the loading sign within; does this mean the phone is broken? And are you still able to charge although the phone's UI does not show the battery is charging....(So does the battery still charge without the loading interface on the phone?)
->Also when buying a new battery do they at least come a bit pre-charged or are they sold completely empty? Does anyone know anything about this?
Keep the charger plugged in with the phone off for a couple of hours. Download a good custom rom. Boot into recovery and most uab storage. Copy the rom on to your phone. Perform all wipes and installation the new rom.
The new battery comes with a little charge in it.
Thanks for the advice, I have bought a new battery. It is shipping to me; I hope this will resolve my problems (key will be whether the battery is already charged a bit, because I don't know if it will charge in my phone. Since I don't have a rom installed (mobile odin seems to have deleted my rom, but did not continue to install the new rom.....)) Fingers crossed!
(I also kept the charger in the phone some time, but it just does not want to charge; in the very few times I can enter download mode, I get the "can't download battery is too low" message)
->I will let let you guys know if something changes!
There are external chargers which are pretty cheap. This will help in worst case scenario. Anyways good luck mate
New Battery just charges 3% in one hour
So I recieved my new battery, and flashed a new rom, but I seem to have an other strange problem; I let the phone charge for about an hour now, and the battery just went up by 3 percent. Has anyone else seen this kind of behaviour with a new battery (the store from which I bought the battery said it was an original battery -> http://www.mobilesupplies.nl/battery-samsung-galaxy-note-n7000-eb615268vu-p-13527.html (link to the battery I bought))
->To put this in perspective the battery I previously had (which is apparantly broke now) charged to 100% from 0% in just 3 hours.....
try a few charging cycles and then check the charging time
This probably is a bad question, but I suppose it is better to ask than just to assume; does anyone know whether clearing my battery stats will improve the rate my phone charges my battery? I assume the phone remembers the battery stats taken from my previous battery, which might influence its usage of the new battery?
I don't think so as it's regarded useless clearing battery stats in recovery.. That's why it has been removed from the newer version of Cwm recoveries.
Any how charging the battery to 100% resets that file
The same problems seems to also pop-up with this new battery, I suppose there is nothing else left to do except for sending the phone to the repair center.
->The phone does show something is plugged in, it does detect the usb cable connected to the wall charger which is consequently connected to the power output in the wall. The image it shows (BASED ON THE CHARGE LEFT IN THE BATTERY, so it does not show anything when the battery is empty) is a battery with a yellow triangle and a black exclamation mark inside the yellow triangle (the same icon I got with my old battery)
The battery also does not get hot neither does the phone in the slightest bit; and in my memory, before this problem occured, I remembered the phone getting at least a little bit more warm.
I suppose now all that probably remains is for the Samsung service center to either check the charging circuits and try to fix those OR replace the entire motherboard (which what I assume they will do). I just hope they are not going to make up some excuse about the garanty, because I have always treated my phone with the utmost care....
may be its just the USB module that needs changing.. Samsung should do it.
Well i also juat got a new battery this week. I went for the samsungs spare rather than the mugen extended or the gold battery.
My old battery got swollen and its because of my fault, i used to keep it on charge throuhout night to get 100% in the morning but i was surprised coz despite being in bad shape it was giving me a goos battery time. But after a discussion here on xda i got a new battery and i am happy now coz its giving me 30% more time plus i got extra power now

I have the same problem. Does any one have a fix?
When you put your micro usb cable inside your note's usb port, does it wiggle? If so there is nothing else you can do, but to sent your phone to Samsung for warranty. They will fix the usb port and maybe even replace the motherboard. And remember don't wiggle aroubd your phone when it is on the charger or usb plug next time....
Hi, I have a problem namely battery will not charge at on the phone. In the phone, the battery is kept constant at the same level, in the case where charging leave for the night reaches 100%, but Without the charger immediately decreases to the level before charging. I tried to charge the phone battery different levels, but nothing. It charges only when the phone is off.
Currently I have the room

Sorry it was unnecessary on my part. No I did not check, and how to do it?
After your help, I cleaned the file again and to my surprise the battery was loading and recharge to 86% and further something not want to charge. Then I left my phone charger at night and Without the charger has dropped to 54%. Battery Calibration gives 54%.

Shutdown your phone and then put off your battery, and see if this is inflated, maybe your battery is dead :S
and..I'd advice you don't leave overnight charging your device, this may break your device's battery
Thanks a lot Viper The Ripper for all the help.
Problem solved, the battery can not be saved and had to buy a new one. Subject to closing
However, the problem is not solved, I put new battery recharge up to 100%, acted a little state has declined to 87% wanted to recharge again with curiosity and an hour remained at this level that the problem may be in the USB cable, charger, I tried to recharge the phone connection laptop unfortunately nothing. Any advice ?
Hello, I have a problem with my Galaxy S Advance; I reinstall the system with Pure Vanilla ROM (I had JellyMod before) and now I have getting problems with battery.
When I charge the phone when it is awake, it won't charge, the only way to charge it is to turn the phone off so it begin to charge, and then I'm able to turn on the phone with the cable plugged in. But when I unplug it when the charge is over, the icon on the phone is stuck to 100%, it only shows the real battery amount left when I restart it.
Besides, now my battery drains really fast, during the night, it can drains to 40 to 0% in 8 hours.
Does someone knows what the problem is?
Try battery caliberation
I will sugest another rom like harsh jelly with cocore.

You could try to take your battery out to see if something is wrong
Or, after all the options above didn't help to solve the problem, then you should consider changing your battery
I tried battery calibration, but no results. And I already took the battery out, but nothing more happens.
But I noticed that with Better Battery Stats there's a process that is always awake in the kernel wakelock section, "ab8500_charger_attached_lock". Could this be the problem?
No one knows if I can delete the "ab8500_charger_attached_lock", and if there is a way?
Well, I found the solution, if anybody has this problem; the usb connecter was the cause: the metallic part in the center seemed close to one other and even when the phone wasn't charging, it made it think like it was. So I just took a knife and straightened it up and now everything is back to normal.
