Does your temple run lag?
I play this whenever I'm bored, but SOMETIMES it lags, SOMETIMES it doesnt even when it's on 1900/1900 performance .... why is this? is it because of the tweaks ?
And sometimes my camera takes like 10 seconds to load the app. why is this? why don't my settings save?

Generally, slow startup times and "lags" can be attributed to;
a. Too may scripts running (custom roms)
b. Too many processes running
c. Rogue apps
d. 1 or more corrupt applications
When performance hits a wall, the best thing would be to either uninstall utility apps and/or apps you no longer want or need. Also, removing some special scripts you installed may also improve performance (rooted devices).
As a last case, if running a custom rom, back-up your important stuff and wipe the device, and re-install a fresh rom.
If it's a stock device, a factory reset will do this also. Note that you should always have backups of your data before doing either.

Read the reviews for Temple Run, many people experience lag since the people who made it half-assed it pretty much unlike the iOS version.

Temple run was designed with dual cores in mind. Temple run lags on the iPhone 4 as well, but not on the 4s

Scripts are in the init.d folder since they start on start up.
Rogue apps I'm not sure of what they even are.
Corrupt Apps are apps that can be battery hogs or ones that get into your personal files. An example of a corrupt app is TripleTown. After a couple of days I checked my battery use and I found TripleTown using more battery than android system.

Rogue apps are poorly coded and cause a lot of strain on the CPU, and your battery. Getting rid of these helps speed up your phone and can extend the life of your battery. To find these, download an app from the market called watchdog, it will search for programs that are using an excessive amount of CPU, and will shut them down

How to improve battery life?

Hello fellas. I am running Fasty VI, and battery life has not been as good as I feel it should be. I'm aware that KH3 is one of the best fw as far as battery life goes. I also have turned off auto brightness, auto rotate.
Just to give an example, I took the phone off a/c at 6:30 am, and the time of this post at 8:56 am I have 69% battery.
Is it possible to increase battery life by using a different modem?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Whats using your battery? Check if a app is eating your juice. How many apps/ widgets you got running at once, are you OC/OV?

didnt realize there was a kernel with oc/uv for kh3
yes a different modem could help battery life, just make sure its an I897 modem and not an I9000.
also turn OFF power saving mode in display settings could save some ( i know weird but it helps adjust the brightness and when you have auto brightness off its just a meaningless process going on)
you could also switch to 2g when you dont need the speed, also turning off background data will save some juice.
Best way to extend your battery life is to get an extended battery
sry couldn't resist
Lol fuloplori.
I have power saving mode off as well I forgot to mention that.
As far as widgets go, today, which is what I've been using as ab benchmark, I have three minimal text widgets for time, date and battery, as well as evernote and keep the lights on.

No there isn't a kernel but there is an app that DOES OC/UV and OV the captivate. Its called Tegrak. Just saying....
Also I've had a issue with Maps app and when ever I set alarms battery drains alot faster. Not as much as you are experiencing but still. Random question have you recalibrated your battery lately? As studa said Modem might be the culprit bur I've never heard of KH3, KF1 or KI2 modems be a issue with native roms.
Well, I re-calibrated my battery a few days ago, but now that you mention it, I have doubts wether I should do it when the battery is at 100% or 0%.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Personally I charge it up to 100 then unplug and charge till it says 100%. I repeat that 2-3 times then I delete the battery file on cwm and let it drain till it shuts off. I've read of other methods no clue on differences. Btw Where you from bro?
I checked battery statistics and facebook was unusually high, at 24% right above 23% for display. When I checked on the market under my apps, out want there. I installed out and re-downloaded it.
I'll try your method for calibration.

I'd suggest u get Watchdog Task Manager and track down the app/s that is/are misbehaving. For further more enhancements u could freeze cpl apps that u don't use/need with TiBu. Read more about it over on pikachu01's thread, keep in mind that his thread is i9k centric.
Last but not least, I hope ur not using a task killer !!! (specially on a regular basis)
As far as task killers I'm aware that they are not necessary anymore. The odd thing is that today, after unplugging my phone for 3 hours my phone is still @ 100%.

Task killer isn't needed. Android task manager does the job well enough. Task killer will just use more resources.
Use titanium backup and freeze apps that take up a lot of resources when they aren't in use.

Haven't had to put it to use thankfully but if my phone ever does get stolen, I feel bad for the poor fellow who gets his hands on it... Very powerful app! Can remotely track the device, activate an alarm if you've lost it at home, lock the phone remotely and even do a full wipe, all from your web browser. Currently inside my house and it locates me to an accuracy of 4 meters... And the BEST part, IMO, you can HIDE it from the app drawer on the phone itself!
And as mentioned earlier, Antivirus is not needed. 99.9% of apps that come through the Market are safe.
Thank you all. I am aware that there are hardly any viruses out there for android devices, but i am currently in the midst of trying.. keyword: trying to root my phone, and i dont want to put any viruses from the files i download from the PC, onto my beloved smartphone, so once again thanks guys
and if any one has some free time and would be willing to guide me through the process of getting rid of bloatware (ive already rooted my phone, and backed up everything i just dont know what to do next) i would be willing to ship 10$ =)

FYI common sense doesn't protect you from things such as exploit and web script based infections.
I personally use Lookout. But honestly its not something you need to worry about too much, yet. But I'm sure its going to be a problem next year. Play it safe and only install apps that have high install counts on the market and high ratings.

Well, unless you are doing A LOT of side loading (installing non market apps) from random sites or are using pirated applications there is absolutely no need for anti-virus on a linux based system..
You as the end user are 100% in control of what apps gain permission and using common sense by looking at what permissions your giving said applications is up to you to decide.
The only virus I've heard of was found in china and pretty sure it was a side loaded application and it would steal data like phone numbers and e-mail addresses and the person was selling the information to spam sites.
Like I said though, if your just downloading apps from the android market your fine.

Your right, android already does that. Unless someone writes a script/exploit to get around asking permissions for root since the browser doesn't run as a root application. Android has very high security when it comes to web browsing. Remember, we are talking about linux.
In my opinion the best protection is a firewall, DroidWall does the job well.

Are you Serious?

really? i barely used the phone. everyone is turned off except wifi and i did not even use the the browser. this can't be real. only that much time and it's almost halfway dead and i barely used it. i know there have been battery threads before but man... how can it be this horrible. btw juice defender don't do crap, i've had it for the today and yesterday, was crap so i uninstalled. had brightness are low as i can without making me squint.

I've had relatively poor battery life as well... I went 12 hours with a recharge from 10 to 50% again before it completely drained...
I'm not impressed with the battery on this phone but everything else has been great.
... I'm starting to think I'll have to make my own Qi Charger for pant pockets... embed it in your pocket so whenever the phone is there it's charging. I'm seriously considering trying this to see if it's possible... if so, i'm doing it for sure. Or a carrying case with an extra battery and a Qi Charger... or a Qi charger dock for the car... you get the idea. Wireless charging shouldn't be the fix for poor battery life, but it definitely could help it.

Task managers mess around with Android's memory management and it is fairly well known that they usually end up draining more battery than they save. Try getting rid of it.
Also other people are reporting that the battery life gets better after a few days of using. Is yours really new? Im not sure how true that is btw.
Probably a combination of that task killer and a wake lock.

Install Franco's kernel. Battery life has been outstanding (1 Gmail account sync, 1 Exchange account sync, maybe 30 minutes of calls and 100+ texts a day; I have location services & Google Now enabled as well). I average 3+ hours screen on time and I normally end the day around 30% ...
I would stay away from task managers ... it's not that I know what's going on more than you or anyone else, but well established and respected kernel developers recommend against it. If these guys don't know then I honestly don't know who else does ...

Galaxy S6 Build.prop Ram fix works for the Note4

So this was posted awhile back on reddit, and I know that not everyone uses reddit. So might as well post it here. If it has already been posted, then just delete mine. I looked hard and found no one on here talking about it at all.
So someone on the s6 XDA forum found out a 6 line edit to the build.prop that fixes a memory leak in Touch-Wiz. A popular user on the galaxynote4 subreddit (u/onbeskarakterl) tried it for ****s and giggles and it worked. (Can't post the link because I'm a new user to xda :C )
This is all you have to do, and yes it requires root. These lines go/are under #DHA Properties. To edit these lines I suggest ES file Explorer (with root mode enabled) or Build.Prop editor from the google play store.
I changed this line's value:
HTML:
ro.config.dha_empty_max=36
I manually added these lines below it:
HTML:
ro.config.dha_cached_max=12
ro.config.dha_th_rate=2.3
ro.config.dha_lmk_scale=0.545
ro.config.sdha_apps_bg_max=70
ro.config.sdha_apps_bg_min=8
ro.config.oomminfree_high=7628,9768,11909,14515,16655,20469
This has worked for both device models (snap and exy) on the sub-reddit. If you're using a custom rom and the lines don't exist, just add them. Make sure you do a nandroid backup through TWRP or CWR before attempting. I'm not responsible for the kiddies that miss a letter and soft brick/brick their stuff. This fix has made monumental changes for some, and miniscule on others. For me, it made my recents and many other gestures of the phone much more responsive. It almost feels like a whole different beast.
I dont even know what a memorz leak is ? I just know that my note 4 sucks compared to my ex-note 3.
i tried this but i dont see any improvements on my phone..

Android system highest battery usage help me find the problem?

As the title states I'm having an issue which a lot of people have generally and some find fixes others don't, I've looked around tried a few things but none seems to solve the problem! Now I'm running the latest version of Rapture ultimate variant on 5.0.1, the first night after installing this rom I was at 100% didn't charge once throughout the whole day, screen was #1 on battery drainage, had a decent SOT of 6 hours and 30 minutes I believe that's good but you tell me [emoji14], anyways the following days it's been android system with an average of 24% it's really starting to annoy me as its brought down my screen time a bit here's some pics of my states an what's android system running, I have several things frozen as well that are listed why there listed idk but several are frozen! If you know of any fixes to solve android system from being such a high usage please let me know! Thanks!

Stock battery app doesn't provide enough information to solve the problem. Apps such as Wakelock Detector are needed to drill down to meaningful information. There are also lots of existing threads that provide great instructions on how to improve battery life.

I froze a bit of stuff that was listed in the android system from my pic in OP then gave it a day an noticed it started going down now it's dormant at only 5% an screen is at 17% exactly the way I like it oh and I'm getting more than a days worth on one charge with 6-1/2hrs + SOT, I'll put pics up of a list of what I froze , not just the android system stuff but what I froze in general

Somewhere within this list one of them was causing android system to be high which one for I'm not sure of but try the list give it a good 2 days or so from 100% to 0% battery and if it worked then I'm glad if not unfortunately you should try some other things, also try wake lock detector(root required) as the other poster stated as well as better battery stats (cost money and requires root)

So how's it going? Still having high usage on android system?
I think I have it pinned down.
I am fairly certain it's caused by ims settings, ims logger, or ims service. I noticed none of these were disabled in your list, so I'm curious If u had improvement.

It's going absolutely great here's an example of how my battery had been since I did that list
as for ims service and the others that's for instant message service so if you text it would affect your texting an to my understanding would force crash whenever you try to text now I haven't disabled it but I'll go ahead an do that for you an let you know if I am still able to text people or not

Okay I disabled all the ims services as listed here
I sent several text they were a success I also tested Facebook messenger it was also a success as always I suggest making a nandroid but yes so far I have no force closes or anything now I just did it so I'll leave them frozen an report back in a few hours to let you know if I had any problems best of luck!

It does affect texting a little, no fc, but messaging app takes a long time to open and sometimes texts come in twice. Weird. But my battery life has been excellent. Thanks for the help, homie.
