I Dont know if i should wait for the LC1 To get rooted or downgrade and root and uppdate to LC1
I Only need "Root" (Super user)
DOnt wanna flash any other rooms.. wanna keep the stock..
But what i can see that i have to downgrade and root and then uppgrade again. Wich is a pain in the ass and i loose all data
Now a great way was this one
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-gt-n7000method-1/
But this too works only with older versions!
So what do you guys think?
PS. its my work phone and dont wanna mess it upp.

What to search for? LC1 root? LC1 deodexed or LC1 odex? LC1 is the latest and I did not find any thread which says LC1 can be rooted directly which I think is what the OP wanted and now me too want.....
Thanks in advance..
Pre-rooted stock roms!

The point isn't about rooting, it's about being able to do a proper search. If you can't search, you're not going to get your answer.
There are 2 distinct threads that contain the LC1. They are both pre-rooted. One is odexed. The other is deodexed. If you do a search, you will find them both. If you are smart, you will read the entire thread BEFORE you flash the ROM because there are instructions within the thread that tell you the exact steps to do and to avoid so that you don't wipe your data. I know, because I took the time to search for the threads, and read both threads ENTIRELY. I followed the directions and had a pre-rooted LC1 installed in only a few minutes. I didn't loose any data or apps. I was also a Noob to Samsung at the time.
If that sounds too hard for you, then you should leave your Note on the ROM it is on right now and wait for the OTA updates.

Thanks for all the help.
i end upp rooting with Bodivas pre rooted stock LC1..
Now i have 2 more questions wich i yet have no answer for wich are these,
1: If i Only root, and dont install a new kernel ...
Will i be able to make future fota uppdates ? from Samsung..And will the root still remain.
Im fr Sweden with LC1
2: If i Change the kernel to get CWM and get some kind of a Total backup! Since it seems that it cant be done by Titanium?!
Will i still be able to get new stock uppdates by kies? and will the Root still be there?
I was planing to install the kernel you rekomended
CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LC1-v5.3-CWM5.zip
With mobile Odin.
So lets see what happens.. But damn with a rooted phone it feels nice to be able to controll every thing and skipp adss and anoying unwanted startups..
1. Yes, no
2. Yes, no
For future updates, get the update here @ xda and flash with mobile odin which will persist root. Updates show up here as fast as they are released.

Easiest is to download stock rom, root it with just root only method
Best practice backup efs, Google it I will not explain you need do this only once and save backup later to computer.
Backup with titanium pro, and perform backups on kies. All you need to do to keep your info.
No custom kernels and remain ota able, and ultimately when ICS comes you remain upgradeable as it will not come OTA but though Kies
-> hmm, I lost my ability to upgrade thought Kies. Even with stock ROM. So be carefull whichever way you go. You can always upgrade thought a stock firmware ROM, you just might loose upgradability thought Kies. Also note, upgrading throught Kies will remove root in I think all instances.

ICS Repack Problems
Hi all,
I managed to flash ICS Repack by Chainfire on my galaxy note today. It is pretty cool and really fast. But I've few questions to ask regarding this new ROM. Please be kind enough to direct me to a appropriate thread if these questions are already been asked and solved.
After I flash ICS Repack, I cannot find CWM anymore. What happened to it ? and how I can get it back ?
How I can go back to my old GB rooted ROM (I've CW backup of that rooted LB2 GB ROM) ?
By now, this ICS version cannot render South Asian languages. but LB2 rendered it very well. Are there any option to get that language support on this ICS ?
I need to change this Keyboard (Chinese) to English. Any other method to change it (Instead of installing GO Keyboard) ?
In our county phone numbers have two formats (our numbers are start with "0" but receiving calls don't have that starting "0" ). But in this ICS ROM, those 2 numbers are Identifying as two different numbers. Any method to fix that issue ?
Can I get my CPU speed to 1.4GHz again ?
Please be kind enough to help me on these matters.
Thank You.
This is why users should study BEFORE they flash. Anyways. Flash CWM, boot it, resrore backup. Cant help you much. Just got my Note happy studying

Stick with GB for now...people working with ICS around here like to make you jump through hoops just to get your phone to work...so if you're not will to spend the time on it, then stick with GB...no fuss, no muss.

carrier locked means you cant put another carriers sim card in and use it..Doesnt have any effect on what rom you run.

Hi people.
I haven't visited the site in a long time and i just noticed that ICS is out.
So i am trying to figure out how to install it.
Can you help me?
Thanks in advance
just forget it for now, there's lots of bug with the rom (leaked rom and official rom)
stay with GB for now
Ok, noted, but i was more wondering about the procedure.
It doesn't look like an easy straightforward procedure.
How would one go about installing ICS?
Once oficial ICS is out in your country for your carrier you simply plug youre Note into PC and use the instal wizard on Kies. It will do it for you nice and simple.
Thank you very much for your swift answers.
If you are on GB stock, just flash this ROM with mobile odin (safer!), check everroot and all (although I still didn't get root), and should be good BUT I say stay away.. It's not good and not radically different from GB.. If you flash anyway, STAY AWAY FROM LPY KERNEL.
If you're on any custom ROM, downgrade to stock GB and follow the procedure..
BUT DON'T FLASH IT.. I flashed it twice and luckily enough, I could come back to GB but you might not..

Okay, i have only 1000000 questions!
What does "flash" mean exactly? In my mind it sounds like changing firmware, am i close?
what does mobile odin do?
Is LPY kernel and LPY firmware the same thing?(as in because they are indivisible)
Why stay away from LPY kernel?
I have never tampered with my note since i bought it, i find no reason to since my phone covers all my needs, and thus i didn't familiarize myself with the terms or the procedures. For all intents and purposes you should explain it to me as if i was a 5 year old!
I understand that most probably you won't really take the time to explain these things to me, so i could use a central platform that can provide the answers to these questions in a straightforward manner without having to lurk here on the forums for a 1000 years.
Please if you know of such a place provide me with a link.
Here is a centralized link, it's been my best friend in getting answers:
Forum Search
Edit: If you have not messed with your phone, why would you even consider doing it with a rom that could potentially brick your device completely. If the juice isn't worth the squeeze, don't even attempt. If you want to learn, root with a GB rom, and for that follow Dr. Ketans thread, very easy to follow with pictures, and although you said explain it like I would to a 5 year old, I apologize in advance that the pictures aren't popup

Should answer most of your questions..
Anyways, yeah flashing means changing firmware but it could also refer to a kernel (read through the link) or anything really, even a theme.
Odin is a program used to flash various firmwares, kernels, etc for samsung devices. There's PC Odin and then there's mobile odin. Mobile Odin can be used to 'flash' just about anything, be it a stock ROM or kernel or a custom ROM.. By using mobile odin you don't get the yellow triangle too.. Which is used by samsung to detect whether the phone has been messed up with or not.. It's pretty easy to get one but it's easier not to get one if you know what you are doing.. Just read the thread above and your most questions will be answered.. Read the wiki on GN note too..

And I would suggest you to first get a hold of changing ROMs before jumping to ICS. There are various GB custom ROMs available. Try flashing them..

Hi everyone
Recently i got my Galaxy Note, but i would like to root it only. to gain access to apps like droidwall, adblocker and other more apps. i wonder does rooting a Note has any risk ? like bricking it or similar problem like this ?
Is it easy to root a Note ?
Why am i asking this ? because my brother said that there's a risk rooting Note. i used to owned a Galaxy Tab GT P 1000 and i rooted it easily without risk or problems that was a year ago. but now my tab died due to some user here named cx5 posted misleading guide to flash latest ICS or JB caused my tab unable to power on anymore.
If you are on ics rom, then u are on an unsafe kernel.Wiping or flashing on stock ics kernel will brick your phone
So as soon as u root your phone,u need to flash a safe kernel. If u are on ics,u can simply flash philz kernel to root your phone and its a safe kernel

Yeah i am using ICS now android version 4.0.4. Does rooting it have any risk of bricking it ? what do you mean by unsafe kernel ?
stock ics kernels have a bug that has a mmc erase command enabled that could delete critical files and render your phone useless. so comes the need of custom kernels which the devs here disabled this command.
wipe using stock kernels is unsafe

Well this is my second time doing rooting on a android phone. hopefully there's no problems doing it. I'm not sure whether should i flash a custom roms as i am afraid since there's a risk bricking it. it's my first time flashing custom roms. I just found out some sort of bug that exist on stock ICS at Note that makes the phone bricked if flashing other roms/deleting the current OS. hmm i wonder does the bug affect factory reset too ?
Actually this would have been the second time flashing a android phone if i did not follow misleading guide posted by some user here causing my tab to be bricked.
I'm still not sure why my brother said there's a risk of bricking when trying root a note.
Is it safe to stay rooted on stock OS ?
Is it possible to set permanent landscape mode on note ?
Your answers are in the stickies.

- Your phone can't be more than 4 years old. Captivate was announced in June 2010.
- Once unlocked it will stay unlocked after JB upgrade.
- Follow this very clear and easy to understand guide for upgrade procedure.
- Start with CM 10.1, this ROM is the base for almost all JB ROMs for Captivate. You can flash after whatever you want.
- You may need to replace your battery.

About upgrade process just read the guide. It contains all answers to your questions.
The last official ROM for Captivate is GB based Samsung TW, all ICS/JB upgrades are custom ROMs.
[Stock ROMs](OneClicks Master Collection) is the very first sticky thread in Captivate Android Development section.
Please, spend some time to read the information provided on XDA before asking basic questions. Many knowledgeable people sacrificed a lot of there free time to explain everything you need to know about Captivate. Before you run into problems, try to understand the upgrade/downgrade process. And be very careful when playing with images containing bootloaders. Unsuccessful attempt to flash bootloaders will hard brick the phone and this will be the end of all your questions. Good luck!

I don't know what "sense 5 launcher" is, but I can make almost any launcher mimic Sense interface using corresponding themes, icon packs, widgets, etc. - all available for free on Google Play. Note that you will not be able to 100% duplicate Sense interface features unless you buy a HTC phone. All HTC additions to Android OS are proprietary software and not available for download/use on non-HTC devices.
Thank you !

In order to run ICS/JB ROMs you need to have GB bootloaders. In other words, it depends where you start from. If you start from 2.1/2.2, then you need to update the bootloaders. If you start from 2.3.x, then no need to flash bootloaders. This is also explained in the guide. Same thing with stock ROMs. If you never had GB running on your phone and you want to flash KK4, then you need the package with GB bootloaders.
Just a warning
When flashing the bootloaders theres more chance of something to go wrong. I bricked a phone permanently like that.

Your phone being unlocked does not affect anything it will remain unlocked no matter what

If you never had GB running on your phone and you want to flash KK4, then you need the package with GB bootloaders.

presently am on GB 2.3.5 I897UCKK4 so i dont need bootloader.. and only by rooting and cwm i can flash any of my desired rom base on GB/ICS/JB
^
Since u r on KK4 u should have the GB Bootloaders. (Unless u see a total pixelated screen when u boot ur phone. If u do, then u don't have the Bls. Otherwise ur good to go.)
And here is a [Utility]KK4 Easy Root by Red_81 that u can gain Root access through and also get the KK4 Corn Kernel that has CWM Recovery so that u can proceed with flashin ur rom of choice.
See post # 4 in the thread linked for a workin download...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26710533&postcount=1
And in my opinion, i would suggest stayin away from flashing ICS Roms, because of the possible encryption unsuccessful bug.
