The short answer is yes. You need a custom kernel (ie. abyss) for that. Flash the kernel over your GB (not ICS) rom, and you are good to go.

You can go up to 1.6Ghz on stock using one of the overclocking apps.
I'm using Tegrak on stock LC2 at 1.6Ghz.
I've been running that for a couple of says without any problems. It feels a but snappier.
I don't seem to get the random lags or pauses when moving between screens or exiting apps that i used to get.

Fastest kernel I used!
3400 quadrant, without overclock! Very snappy
Hi,
I'm coming from MCR fr17 Fear Kill edition 10.. it is using the 2.6.32.8 kernel.
My questions are as per below (Sorry I'm new to android devices and trying my best to learn):
a) When flashing a new kernel, I just put it in my SD card and flash it in recovery correct? Or do I need to perform a wipe before doing so? Need to clear any cache etc?
b) For those that have tested this kernel, care to upload the stable voltage for 1000 mhz, 1200mhz and 1300mhz?
c) What if I undervolted it so much that it isnt a stable voltage? Will my phone be a brick?
Thanks to all that take the time to guide a noob like me.

In Pimp my CPU, use the stress test to see if its stable. Use the settings without saving it so you dont boot with those settings. But just to make sure, make a backup of the rom if absolute everything f*cks up.

Currently I cant even run a CPU Stress Test. When I do, the application will be forced closed.
Do take note that I havent flashed in this new kernel yet.. Using 2.6.32.8 atm
I flashed this Kernel with Stock ROM, but I found that my existing Pimp my CPU not work anymore. Please suggest use with version is fine, Thanks.
Same, this kernel doesn't support PimpCPU I believe. Nevertheless, it's the most stable kernel that I've tried so far...
What advantages are their of converting to ext4? Looking for a good kernel current running modaco fr17 will this be ok?

I'm actually not looking for an OC, I was looking for a UV.
Sorry if it is a noobish question but wat advantage does this bring over stock kernel?
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
This kernel provides ext4 support. And a small fix I believe. So the advantage is a general speed improvement with phone usage.
Guys, my O2X just got updated (via LG PC Suite) to v10d. I already rooted it, but can anyone confirm if this kernel still works with it?

[Q] Anyone which is using Miui.Us in here?

For those who are using Miui.Us like me, any nice kernal suggestions just for Miuis in GT-I9000? I had problem in random rebootings since the past 5 - 6 Rom builds, it might change if i change the kernal? Any helps here? Thanks in advance!
Try Galnet...ime it was good and running perfect it came with Vorbeth Kernel and i think the latest one is Glitch, maybe you will find it better than the stock MiUi..!
sew vorbeth kernel if u want stock
neo-16 beast is i am using now
also there is glitch & fugumod
Okays, i'm interested in Glitch tho. But do u know the way to apply that kernal? Needed any requirements or just apply via CWM? Or need some bootloaders or stuffs?

flash V11 because V12 says it needs Froyo bootloaders to avoid all risk just flash v11 FINAL one's!
Hey thanks! I've just flashed Glitch's today and play around w the overclocking and undervolting things? Do u know the values for some good performance + batt life for it? And what does it differenciate by Low leakage, Medium leakage and High leakage? I'm using the Medium one anyway.

[Q] May i know how to Overclock Samsung Ace to 900++MHZ

May i know how u guys Overclock your Samsung Ace to 900++ MHZ?
Search the development thread for the kernel patch. You must be on cyanogenmod for the kernel to work.
If you need help for flashing I will not offer that help, you gotta read and learn.
Currently I'm using Cyanogenmod 7.1 (Version 2.4.7) I click on setting there , i just saw Max 800 mhz only...
Even stupid SetCPU app with CF-Root kernel allows it. You don't have to be on Cyanogen, that is bull****. I have flashed Galaxy Ace to my mother and my cousine with GLSMT ROM 2.1, which do have overclocking built-in even without SetCPU. But if you wish to overclock your Ace with Stock ROM, follow theese stepps:
1) Download OneClick Root app to your computer
2) In the Phone Settings, Applications, turn on USB debug mode
3) Plug your phone to your PC using usb cable (and wait till windows installs drivers)
4) Run OneClick Root app, and root your phone with it.
5) OneClick Root will overwrite your kernel with CF Root kernel.
6) After reboot, install SetCPU from Market
7) Search the Market for Superuser app, and install/update it.
8) Place SetCPU widget on your desktop.
9) After tapping it, you can set your desired frequency.

oc potential depends on hardware, if CPU lets you then enjoy 900+

He's so condescending for someone so ignorant.
Superoneclick can't install kernels and much less a kernel install on a Samsung not in download or recovery mode.
And the cf root kernel doesn't even have overclock.
People like this make this place lousy sometimes.

flash the oc kernel using cwm
some ppl get stable upto 921

try at your own risk
why bother overclocking? it'll only fry your cpu
instead try the v6 supercharger tweak, it improves speed

1. download this OC kernel by ketut.kumajaya
2. flash it using cwm
3. go to cyanogenmod setting and set the cpu as u wish...dont make it too high or your phone will reboot instantly..

As per above, I've been trialing the ketut OC kernel.
The key for all those who are still "learning" is pushing it up one step at a time, if your phone crashes you have found your limit.
If it doesn't, reboot for it to be "completely applied" and then check in the Cynogen mod settings > performance to ensure the OC has applied properly.
So far i've got it at 944mhz without crashing, on CM7.2 with ketut OC kernel, alot of testing has been done and bench mark averages around 2000, when standard kernal does around 1500 average.
Best of luck and Try not to fry your cpu

Also, if you want a faster device, why on Earth did you purchase the Ace in the first place? You can get a decent second hand Galaxy S for less money...
And you won't notice much difference with a mere 100 or so MHz extra...except the heat output.

It's never safe to overclock.
You have more potential breakages with overclocking rather than flashing.
hmm....im maybe noob here but why bother oc ur phone? the battery just drained faster.... if u are on cm7 just put the governor to performance...
btw
i never got pass 900+ either

Overclock

Hi ,
I have a few begineers questions , I have a galaxy s that is running gingerbread 2.3.6 , is rooted and had a voodoo kernel (with recovery option) . I was thinking of possibilities of overclocking , can that be done with the setup I have ?
thanks in advance
You can easily overclock your phone with a root access with an application like this :
bit.ly/fnUFCD
There are lots of applications existing.
You can see on your kernel thread on this board what frequency is supported.
try Tegrak overclock or NSTools. Find other apps on Market.

Battery use will obviously be higher with the processor on more clock speed but there's no problem with the temperature. Remember, always overclock in minor steps, check stability and in this way you would get a stable phone

Module-OC

Hello,
My phone -xperia x8 white e15i
Kernel - Stock
It don't matter what Rom I use I can only OC till 691 MHz at 710mhz my.phone freeze and reboot.
also I get reboot time to time on 691.
I heard that very x8 should atleast be stable at 710
my question is.
Do I get a higher stable frequency if I use a different module other than Dix's???
I came across a module which offers a higher frequency .... search for better overclock you will find the thread.....so will I get a higher frequency? ?? using the other module???
I USED THE SEARCH BUTTON BEFORE POSTING.
so don't yell at me. : )
Help
I'm not too sure about this one since I'm a part noob much like you but have you tried flashing a different kernel such as Alfs? linuxxd is really good but doesn't allow overclocking as I found out with the same problem as yourself Sorry I meant stock kernel doesn't allow overclocking ...
If I helped you please answer my question on a new thread I made
It's up to your phone. Your processor can go till that frequency without freezing. Other X8s can go higher. It doesn't depend on the ROM or kernel.
A custom kernel allows better overclocking most of the time. When I was on stock kernal the highest I could get to was 710Mhz before rebooting. With a custom kernel I can get to 787Mhz before rebooting.

You need to understand that the stock kernel is not designed for overclocking, it's only possible with modules for stock kernel.
You can try the other module but I doubt it'll be any improvement, if you want better overclocking you really should install a custom kernel.
