maybe dat wld be helpfull to mke a similarsals guide

Unrooting is easy. Reverting s-off back to s-on Not been done or tested on this phone. And No offence I'm not going to either. U have already got unlocked bootloader anyway. So u shouldn't have s-off..... Or have u bought the clip and done it lol, but seriously if u want to Unroot follow any guide to re installing stock Ruu on HTC.
To lock your bootloader, redo the steps to unlock it. But this time the last cmd is changed and voila, locked. U will have to lock it before you do stock Ruu as you will also wipe out the cwm recovery off your phone, but as I said before, becareful, and follow instructions carefully.
If you wish to do this then Good luck ;-)
Wasn't me............ ;-)

I want to downgrade the hboot too...cause the warraty gets void if the hboot is updated to the newer version.

Follow which ever post u want then my friend. Over here, u can update the hboot and it wont invalidate the warrenty, but the minute u unlock it, its gone. Hence why u can lock it again.

I got error 155 while updating through ruu

Need help unrooting my rooted salsa
Hi, I recently brought a used HTC Salsa which I beleive is rooted. It seems to be using a Wildfire S ROM and I wanted to unroot to a stock ROM.
So far I'v tried to use the RUU provided for the Salsa on HTCDEV.com but i get this message "ERROR [191] ROM IS NOT SUPPORTED" I also tried the solution provided on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437545 but those two files don't seem to exist with the RUU provided for the Salsa.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

ok...where did you get it from? phone wise
try this and see what happens, remove battery, reinsert battery, hold the volume key down and press power on.
Hboot will come up...scan and stop...copy off all the details you see.
now using volume key scroll down and select recovery second option underneath first highlighted.
if you go into a custom recovery then chances are you have root and some random rom installed.
with the phone on, go to settings, about phone, software, it will show you there what the name of the rom is, normally the owners name or design is there.
with this info we maybe able to sort something out for you....

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I got it from an e-bay style website in New Zealand, it's probably imported as this model is not available in NZ.
From Hboot I can see:

After going into recovery, I would say it is rooted. I don't know what an original recovery page looks like but this one says:
CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.6
Now going into settings and software information, i see:
Android Version

HTC Sense version

Theres another menu that says baseband, kernal, etc. if you need any information from there.
Thanks again for your help.

your running a rom from m1ndh8x4r on sense 2.1, ripped from the wildfire s and ported to ours.
it is based on stock with a lot of extras pumped into it.
this rom is discontinued but i still have all the files for it.
good thing about this is u can have upto 1gb internal memory this way, reverting to stock you go back to 150mb ish.
we do have many different roms inc my own i have made if you want to stay this way, but if you want stock again, its gonna be tricky but can be done, you loose everything on the phone inc the recovery system and it goes back to stock. but....i only have EU/UK stock only the one you will require is not listed online....do u have ebay link to the listing?
its up to you from here....if your running the Aussie variant you won't get stock back from that region, and installing a stock from EU/UK you won't get full compatibility in the phone im afraid....
did u get an sd card with it?

Currently when i go to Manage Applications it says i have 86mb used and 64mb free, and I haven't even installed anything its fresh from the factory reset.
If i go back to stock, what do you mean I also loose the recovery system? If it doesn't come with one out of the box I really don't mind. I'm a simple user I usually only have a few apps anyway, I would just prefer to have a stock ROM until i get my head around everything, I would likse the original features like the mirror function to work.
What about the Asian World Wide English ROM, that's the RUU i attempted to use from HTCDEV.com, usually we are classified as a part of South East Asia / Australasia .
It wasn't from ebay, it was a local auction site, i sieved through the info there, nothing of importance or relevance.
No SD card I'm afraid.
Thanks

i only asked for original user name. as most users have posted here at some point or another lol
SEA ruus or aisaruu won't work as the language and setup settings are different.
some other features like wifi and data are different too. Asia cant use UK roms on WiFi but EU they can etc....so each is different
my own rom is stock orientated, and has stock mirror etc with the other stock salsa features just made more appealing to use and faster, if you really do want stock let me have a look and sort the EU one i have and get it working on yours. i would suggest having root though....makes this redundant HTC model more usable in the long run lol

oh... the user was Gareth aka balistic (from christchurch) if that helps.
as for stock or rooted I'm really not sure any more. I'm almost indifferent as long as it's not whats on there at the moment.
I guess i could try your custom ROM first if that's not too much hassle? and maybe go back to stock if possible.
Thanks

Okay thanks, i'll give it a go.
As for 'the RUU that's meant for my region' how do i find out? Like i said in my first post, this model was never officially released in NZ, as long as it's an unbranded non-carrier version I'm happy. Most likely Europe or asia. I'v attached a screenshot of what i can see on HTC-dev. Closest to my region would be the last one from Hutch Australia, I guess.

Hit the sack early last night after a lot of reading.
Where can I find detailed instructions on how to flash your rom, so far the closest I've gotten is this:
Installation
Please follow these simple instructions...
Failure to do this will result in
unknown issues and NO SUPPORT from us.
1-Triple wipe (data/cache/davlik)
2-Flash rom
3-Boot rom and setup (language/wifi etc)
4-Reboot to cwm (recovery)
5-Flash data2sd script provided
6-Reboot rom and enjoy new memory
Sorry for taking up your time again.
I found your new thread with the original RUU, might give that a go if I decide to revert to the stock rom. But the instructions there might need to be a bit clearer.
Thanks

The guided instructions are task they are lol, there's no other way to say it. Use the noons flashing guide too. It breaks the recovery menu down etc. See how too get on with that.

HTC Salsa Bootloader Unlocked!!

HTC has provided official tool to unlock Salsa bootloader, available at http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
Go to the website, sign up (if you havent done so), select Your device, Follow the instructions, and enjoy
Note : HBOOT update is required.
mate, let me know what is your RUU before doing the unlock. which part of download section did you take. Because mine, i got none. But i just continued to the fastboot oec, and simply send the code, and voila, its ***unlocked***
so i just wonder, why hboot updated is required since first, i dont get the update even i check it again and again, and second, it still can be unlocked without updating the firmware.

i didnt try it, i just posted the news...
but now i tried and couldnt update the hboot because i am on 1.12.720.3 and it says i need 1.12.720.5, i cant find the update anywhere.. so i just went on and tried the 'fastboot oem get_identifier_token' but i got a command error... i tried 'fastboot oem ?' but the command list didnt include 'get_identifier_token'
how did you do it?? which RUU are you on??
tried this, failed to update hboot, rom image error. basically im unable to update this hboot version.
this is the problem im having all round, i cannot update or revert from this chinese rom im using.
as for the fastboot, no point as i cannot get past stage one lol
why dont you try fastboot?? you might get lucky, kanded said he did it without updating... or is it that HTC is just bullsh**ing everyone bye saying it can be unlocked, but not providing the necessary updates for unlocking??

don't know,
i do know u have to have all sdk parts installed as im unsure what it needs to run with, that took 2 hrs getting it all.
ive tried again, even skipping to fastboot, still nothing.
but ive already tampered with mine, already has cwm installed, s-off and rooted, with chinese uk o2 rom installed......so i wonder if he's using standard issue rom from scratch, but either way, it may not work on all salsa handsets.
but keep trying if you want. the option to send it us is still there!
man, i want to clarify.
the first time i bought this salsa, it is hTC Asia WWE, with S-ON of course.
there is no English language. fu** with it, so i tried to change into RUU O2 UK, by making my sdcard as a goldcard, and put the RUU files onto it.
Here i tell you the way, the RUU files is exe, right ? You can directly flash it as long as you got goldcard (its not hard to make it, everybody knows that)
Or, if that fail, there is still a way updating the stock rom with RUU. Install the exe, while its popping up in ur windows, open task manager, and you see RUU instalshield wizard is running, right ? now go to process, and see Aruwizard.exe
properties that aruwizard.exe, and open file location. you will see there is a zip "rom.zim"
rename that rom zip into PH11IMG.zip and put it into your sdcard that has been as a goldcard. now do the hboot, it will do the recovery itself. let me know if it works.
after that, go to htcdev, and then next step, no need to download for upgrading, bla bla bla, i got my bin_unlock by emails twice. hahaha.
get helped ? say thanks
---------- Post added at 07:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:08 AM ----------
its for you bigbear, i read in any thread that you got problem with your rom right now, that you wanna go back to your stock from that chinese one rom, confirm me if im right.
you may try the way i've said above.
you know of course i also flash that custom rom you post, but i can get back to my before rom.
this is that we must be carefull. if you wanna get back to the last rom you have, you gotta do backup via recovery. there is a backup and restore section. do the backup, and save your backup (it is in clockwordmod folder) in the safest place.
lets say you wanna get back, just do the restore, and voila, you are in your home sweet home. no problemo at all altough you got big headache because of flashing the wrong rom
this is the way :
1) Format SD card as Fat32
2) Install HTC Sync Drivers. (available at htc.com)
3)Connect Your phone to PC. USB Debugging must on and usb connection type: Only Charging.)
4) Open SimpleGoldCard Tool as a admin
and follow procedure step by step at SimpleGoldcard tool.
works now, thanks to kanded and 0x.shivam.x0

How did you get a custom rom running on your phone? I can't root my phone because I don't have access to the clip. Is there any other method?
By going to htcdev and getting my bootloader unlocked. From there its plain sailing

Alright thanks man. Appreciated. And good stuff with the site. Lastly, would you happen to know what language should i learn to write a kernel and for a rom?
And yes i pressed the thanks button
To learn kernels and Roms its best to use Ubuntu Linux. And I found finding a Dev that could teach u what u need, I'm still learning but my Ubuntu is offline so I've not progressed any further yet.

[Q] Noob Rooting? removing carrier bloatware

hi people,
new to the forum, never realised this site existed, thankfully im now a member of this great information community
i am new to the whole rooting phones and software blah blah,
i currently have a htc incredible s with optus (australian software) on it,
now i am wanting to remove all the bloatware and just put a standard htc software on the phone that will allow me to upgrade to ics when it comes out in june for my model phone?
now i am not interested in customizing the rom or flashing it with any other aftermarket software, i just want to the original on there,
please note i am noob, and i have tried some of the methods already suggested, but still not having any luck,
so can some1 please shed me some light and explain to me how to do this in a noob manner please?
any info is appreciated
thanks
What methods have you tried?
HTC boot loader unlocked?
Lynts guide?
Novers tool ?
Sent from my Incredible S using xda premium
i have tried a program called revolutinary or something, but bare with me as i am very noob,
if you have any other easy methods, id highly appreciate it
Hi dont worry i started off as a noob to so dont worry!
I am also with optus! YAY!
I need to know your hboot version and if you are s - off!
Here are some noob steps!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Go to Menu (The third button from the left on the buttons at the button). Then click Settings. Then goto Applications. Then uncheck the box called 'Fastboot'
2. Turn off your phone (If you don't know how to, unlock the screen and hold the power button until a menu pops up, then press power off/shut down!
3. When phone is completely shut down, hold the volume down button and the power button, (Hold it for a few seconds). A screen should pop up.
4. Note down all the information and private message me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This will show me what method you need to use. So Private Message me A.S.A.P!
Every Australian with an Inc S nearly is Optus lol
OPTUS IS HOPELESSSS COMING FROM TELSTRA
Sorry just wanted to vent my frustration
Anyway if you root, you will not be able to install the OTA. Whichever method you use. Apart from temp root, but it will be lost after reboot.
If you want to root, whichever way you do it (I recommend Revolutionary), you will be able to install an ICS custom rom, assuming one will be made.
Just a warning if you wanted to root now and install the update later on
That is not possible :/

yeh i gotta admit optus suks compared to telstra in connection , speed and coverage

Just like you I was new to this also. I used Revolutionary which seemed fine for me. The one piece of advice I could give you is follow the instructions to the letter, I jumped steps, root failed.
Tried again this time more slowly and hey presto it worked and my phone is now rooted and S-Off.
As for roms just search these forums under your phone and read em, do the research first cos that will really help you later on. This made my phone loads better and got rid of the orange bloatware that I really hated, hence looking via google on these forums for options.
Cant stress this enough rooting is the way forward
Have fun

True, but do not attempt it unless you know exactly what you are doing and the risks it involves.
The bloatware on optus is ridiculous, NONE of the things I ever used. Just sitting there looking stupid in my app drawer, wasting valuable space and ram
That said, I would rather have an unrooted stock phone than a bricked one lol

Revolutinary will not work with HBOOT 2.00.0000. You need to do this method/procedure first before you can use Revolutionary.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697
The other option is to unlock the bootloader using the procedure at HTCDEV.com and then flash ClockworkMod recovery and then finally you can flash su-3.0.7-efghi.zip to root the Optus ROM. Then you could use Titianium backup to cleanup the bloatware.
u might have to explain it a little better for me pls, as this is my first time doing this, like i said in the op + the download is a dead link my friend

OK I hate to be so blunt, but it sounds like you need to do a lot more reading and studying about your options and how to perform the procedure before you continue.
The days of simple one-click rooting for noobs on an IncS are no more my friend.
You need to understand how to use the Android SDK tools such as adb.exe and fastboot.exe in order to root your system these days, so I suggest you begin by reading the sticky posts in this forum and then find out how to use adb and fastboot.

I've done something stupid

Hello people, I hope I'm not being a 'bloody annoying bastard '- I really have searched the internet forums thoroughly for a solution to my predicament.
I recently bought a Bell network branded HTC Raider with stock GB (2.3.4) rom. I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone. In my haste to get rid of the bloatware, I stupidly used Root Explorer to delete files instead using Titanium Backup - ergo, no chance to restore deleted stuff. Anyway, now when I press 'Personalize' on the launcher bar, and then try to choose any of the sound options,(ringtones, notifications or alarms), I get a message saying 'The linked program is no longer installed on your phone'. And if I try to change the notification sound from within, say, the messages app, the app 'has to close'. The only 'program' that I can think of that is even remotely connected with sound is Soundhound, which I deleted, but I don't believe that would be the cause. I can still set a ringtone using the ringtone widget, but I can't change the notification or alarm sounds, even though I can still see and play them in System/Media/Audio. Has anyone any idea what I have inadvertently deleted? Something from HTC Sense, I'm guessing. Is it possible to download the Sense 3.0 files and pick them apart to perhaps find what I'm missing?
Sorry if this is a dumb question - my first post and all. Cheers.

I was able to find a link to the stock ICS update RUU for Bell Raiders
(this will upgrade your phone to Ice Cream Sandwich and wipe everything)
If you want to stick with the BellMobility stock Gingerbread, I think I have it archived at home. I can upload it this evening if you want it.
Thanks to the ICS BellMobility RUU post by kennethpenn
http://briefmobile.com/download-htc-vivid-ice-cream-sandwich-update
(there are 2 mirror links available for this download)
and... here is the upload of the GB BellMobility RUU!
(filename: RUU_Holiday_BM_1.65.666.3_Radio_1.11.1020.03_30.77.551061.02L_release_222207_signed.exe)
http://depositfiles.com/files/ri3ygxwsi
.
Thank you, I'll try for the Gingerbread first, just to try to find out what I deleted. Upgrade to ICS I believe I can get from HTC OTA if I return the phone to stock first. I'm still new at this flashing business, so I'm grateful for any help.
OK . . . downloaded file, but unfortunately it is an installer package, and it won't install on my rooted Raider. Does anyone out there have it in a zip package? I'd like to sort thru the apk files.
Or at the very least, a LIST of installed apk's for the Bell Raider.

You have to relock your bootloader before running the ruu...its easy just download the toolkit and use the relock bootloader option...then run the ruu
As far as it in a zip file...I don't honk there is one for the bell...there's a rooted deodexed art one you can flash in recovery...don't know how that will play with your bell version tho

When you run an HTC RUU exe, it takes a little time to extract whatever files it needs. Once you get to the very first step of the RUU (where you get to click buttons), I believe you can go to C:\Users\whoever\AppData\Local\Temp (for Win7 users) and then sort by modified date. You should see a folder that was very recently created. If you poke around in there, you may find a file called "rom.zip". That should be the stock rom from the RUU. But what you do with it is at your own risk!
mg2 is right - just relock the bootloader and the RUU will bring your phone back to glorious stock. It's so much easier than messing around. Then you can decide what your next step is.

Yes, I realise now that reflashing the stock rom was the easiest way. Now I have the OTA ICS and Sense 3.6 rom in place, have re unlocked, re rooted and this time I am being more careful with bloatware removal! Have also done a full nandroid backup. Thanks again for the advice, people. Looking forward to asking more noob questions in the future. :silly:

Just one more thing . . . I understand that I'll need to S-OFF if I want to install custom ROMs, is that right? Any other advantages of an S-OFF phone? The procedure looks a tad daunting - poking around in the back of the phone with a piece of wire! I did it to my old Desire . . . was quite straightforward using Revolutionary. Cheers, all.

You do not need to be S-OFF to install custom roms: just need to flash boot.img using fastboot and flash rom thru recovery
With S_OFF you flash kernel (boot.img) thru recovery instead of using fastboot

OK . . . got it. Thanks for that.
If you're a ROM-a-Holic like me (and maybe a few others around here) and want to try many different roms and kernels to find out what you like the most, you'll want to do the S-OFF procedure. It's not that bad, and it's definitely convenient to be able to download a stack of roms and kernels, put them on your SD card, and then sit out on the lawn enjoying some sun and flashing your phone silly directly from recovery without needing fastboot! I highly recommend it.

I agree! If you follow the instructions from the SuperGuide (stickied in the development forum I believe) exactly, you shouldn't have any problems with the S-OFF procedure.

[Q] Velocity 4G (VODAP120) boot loop / can't RUU

Hello all,
I'm sorry to interrupt you all, but this is rather important!
I tried to root my girlfriends Velocity 4G which she got with her contract with A1 (austrian carrier).
I already flashed a One S and knew of the complications a root for HTC could bring.
So I tried to get everything together before flashing and then I did it...
Got the bootloader unlocked, installed TWRP and flashed sun_dreams rom.
Don't worry, I wiped all clean and think I did it the right way (already flashed 4 other phones, but samsungs').
But I seem to have missed something as I got in a neverending bootanimation (white background with green htc logo).
I know, that you sometimes have to wait a few minutes, but after about 5 minutes or so, I thought I was stuck on boot loop.
So I rebooted, flashed it again and rebooted and nothing changed.
I then read about the boot.img... So I extracted the boot.img and did a full wipe, then installed it, after that the rom and then (just to be safe) three times again the boot.img.
Rebooted and now I got the reboot loop (white background with green logo, then black, then white background again and so on)
I tried everything and as I was about to give up, read about the final solution: the RUU or PH39IMG.zip.
Now the problem is: I cant get either of them to work. At all. When trying to flash the RUU (with bootloader relocked), the programm says: "ERROR 170: No device connected".
I read about some other people having the same problem, so I tried the solution given to them: go to the first screen, then to your temp data, extract the rom.zip, rename it and flash that one, via putting it on the external sd and booting into bootloader.
Didn't work either: Wrong CID. Same for all RUUs I could find even closely related to my phone.
As I couldn't find the real correct RUU, I tried to cheat and use the goldcard to overgo the cid-problem.
Because I couldn't boot up the Velocity 4G I tried to make one with my own Galaxy S2, which worked.
Seems to be the wrong way, since it's the wrong CID anyways, when trying to install the PH39IMG (still all RUUs say ERROR 170).
I might need to mention I didn't do the S-OFF thing, as I didn#t want to mess with the hardware... Is that necessary for my problem to getting fixed?
Maybe I just need the one correct RUU for my model, but I can't find it anywhere!
please help me somebody, as I feel very guilty because of wrecking my girlfriends phone! :crying:
any help is appreciated!!!
greetings

OK... Vodafone is still on gingerbread...
Soooo... You need a gingerbread ROM... And a gingerbread boot.img... Then get it to boot...
After that I would s-off, super cid, get to ICS hboot... Then flash the ROM of your choice

So far so good... but where do I get it from?
I have this one:
RUU_HOLIDAY_SENSE3_5_Vodafone_DE_2.38.162.1_Radio_3.02.4740.09_34.20.701040.19_release_241518_signed
But this one won't work either...
What complicates the search, is that this phone goes by so many different names (vivid, velocity, holiday, raider, etc...)
Should I post a getvar all?
Concerning your further steps: I would be very happy to get it to run at all, maybe then think of reflashing something.
I don't know if I manage that s-off thing and I don't want to hard brick it and give it the final punch...
anyways, thanks for the fast response!

I already did that with all the RUUs I found, but none worked...
EDIT: so I tried a solution offered by another poster in another forum which said to install CM10 on a clean wipe.
did that and it booted in the cm boot screen and loads the "first install wizard"... well, at least to the language selection screen, then it freezes and reboots again.
but at least we bought us some time at the start.

Its because of a wrong hboot...
It will happen with all of the ICS+ ROMs...
I wish you hadn't relocked your bootloader...
Can you reunlock...
Iirc there is a thread with hboot updated... Maybe try that... Or download the Wcxroot thingy and flash the juopenut hboot...

so, you're basically saying i might be able to get it to work without any RUUs or PH39IMGs?
Wow, that would be good news at last.
I already reunlocked before i flashed the CM10 rom and i didn't forget to flash the boot.img afterwards and even went back again to recovery to wipe cache and dalvik and fixed permissions.
Which one should i try?
thank you for your help!! :good:
is updating the hboot even possible without s-off?
so it seems i have to obtain s-off to flash anything else than stock rom...
as far as i read you have to be on stock ruu to obtain s-off, is that correct?
because that would be bad, as i don't have the stock ruu for my phone.
is it possible to acquire s-off without being on stock rom and would it be possible with the state my phone is in?

i already wrote a pm. do you have any ideas left? maybe try and install a gb rom and then try that ruu again?
ps: i did manage to start the ruu.exe (by reinstalling the htc sync) and it stopped with the error 131. installing the rom.zip (or PH39IMG.zip) still won't work as it says customer id check failed...

Okay, so I did manage to fix it, as it seems...
This is what I did:
1. reunlocked bootloader
2. installed TWRP and booted into recovery
3. mounted the internal SD as mass storage
4. copied over VJRaiders GB rom
5. did a full wipe
6. installed VJRaiders rom
7. rebooted into bootloader
8. fastboot flashed the kernel found in the rom thread (twice)
9. rebooted and it worked...
I don't know how and why, but the problem seemed to be that I always tried to flash non-GB roms. As simple as that.
I have no idea why the RUU and PH39IMG didn't work tho...
Well. I won't touch that thing for a looong time, as it works and I had enough problems getting there!
The reason that you had problems with ics and upward roms is because your phone still has the gb hboot. This is because boss never released the ics update. To install ics roms you need the ics hboot.

Which I'm only able to attain with s-off, am I right?
Correct, I believe. If you didn't get an official update to ICS, you'll have to S-Off. It's honestly not as bad as it sounds, I did mine with some speaker wire...probably the worst part of it is getting the cover off of the section where you have to ground out the point. Just take your time, and make sure you're in a well lit area, with a little bit of working space, and you'll be fine.
well, the problem is, that we are not longer on a stock rom and can't seem to flash the original ruu, as we don't find it anywhere...
and as far as i know it is not recommended or possible to go s-off without being on stock rom!?
AFAIK it is UNTESTED... Not impossible
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk
If this is anything like other HTC devices, i'd say your best shot if you're willing to try an untested idea, would be to give it a shot with a sense rom, as they tend to be (under the hood anyways) a lot closer to stock than non sense roms.

[Q] RUU

Hi, I did a lot of things with my One Mini 2 and I actually really don't know what to do anymore... So much options and yet there always seems to be a problem. Let me explain everything.
What I did:
-flashed a custom rom, then went back to a stock rom of this forum
-flashed the dt2w kernel, it messed up my phone so I then flashed the liberty one, which worked
But with the liberty one I had some memory problems, for exemple I couldn't take screenshots... That's why I decided that I wanted to put my phone just as it was when I bought it, I really hope that's possible, by that I mean having official firmwares etc, therefore being able to do official upgrades from my phone (is that what OTA is?).
I looked on internet and it looks like what I need is RUU, as it includes everything (from what I understood)... I know a lot of threads were made about this, but quite a few months ago, so that's why I'm making a new one, and to make things clear.
Also, I downloaded an official kernel from htcdev.com, but each time I tried flashing it with TWRP, it "failed".
So, if you guys have an answer, solution or, in best case, the actual RUU, that would be great.
Thanx

Still no RUU's avaiable as HTC wont release them. your best option is to use TWRP backup and restore.
Original stock backup
Thank you, but my backup kind of disappeared... I saw your post where there was the "HTC Original Backup.zip", I tried to flash but again it failed... Am I supposed to flash it as a backup?

You need to send it as it is to your phone and use TWRP > restore. choose file and done.
Thanx so much for answering... I uses the backup you told me to. Although I had to use the "install" option instead of the backup one, it now works perfectly! But how do I know if my phone is "official"? Are the upgrades going to be made straight from the phone?

Yes OTA updates should work just fine. just look for updates in settings>about >software update.
you may have one for polaris office.
Hi, I just want to check this too before I screw up wife's phone..
She has CM12 on her phone now as I replaced recovery as well as unlocking bootloader. Now she wants it back to stock as too many things crash on her. I get that I can install your backup but what worries me is that other posts have said you need the stock recovery to allow for OTA updates to work and the link to this no longer works.
She MUST have OTA updates or my balls will be removed, so can you please confirm this, but also explain why.
Thanks (on behalf of my testicles and unborn children!)
(Oh, and she wants it unrooted ant the bootloader relocked)
