Camera shutter sound reappearing in Zeus - LG Optimus Black

Hi,
I've upgraded this week from Zeus 3 to Zeus 6.22 and I noticed a problem with the camera shutter sound.
While it is possible to turn it off in the camera settings menu, it is being reset to the first sound after a reboot of the device.
Would be great if it would be finally completely mutable.
Thanks
Jo
I'm posting here because I'm still below the post limit for the dev section. Feel free to append this post to the Zeus thread.

Do you mean the shutter or the focus sound? Because with me both are muted.
Shutter trough camera settings and focus trough zeus settings . Quite few restarts and recoveries and works without fail, and i should know as i use the camera all the time.

I also experience the sound reset in all the ROMs i tried including the stock.

No, I really meant the shutter sound, not the focus sound.
Good to see that I'm not the only one with that problem..
Jo

I had the same problem. Go into the ZeusTweaker and remove the focus sound, and then go into settings in the camera are select "no sound" as shutter sound. Then don't play with the settings again, and it should be fine. That's how I fixed mine.

[Q] Camera sound

Guys, I found that taking photo sound really annoying me. I tried to mute it in camera setting, but it looks like this isn't available option anymore in ICS.
I tried to mute all sounds, but when I'm making photo I can hear that sound, then I tried to change camera_click.ogg and camera_click_short.ogg - still nothing.
I hope someone can help me, plz )

[updated]Found a way to use tap to focus while recording in 720P 20mbit!

Just wanted to let you guys know that I managed to get 720P 20mbit smooth day/night fps stays 30 while using the lgCamera app from PlayStore!
The best part is you can tap to focus!
My videos are amazing with this focus feature, I know it's not continues focus but it still beats the normal camcorder by a lot.
1920:1080 < 1280:720 with tap to focus feature
Download from here (it includes the latest Pro and standard versions provided by the developer himself)
Things you should setup on first run, open up lgCamera, switch to video mode with the upper right icon, press the menu button on the phone and setup these things:
1.White balance: AUTO
2.Effect: NONE
3.Scene mode: AUTO (If you change this to ACTION mode, after recording when you press STOP the lgCamcorder will freeze/crash, so just keep default AUTO the fps doesn't drop in low light while recording anyway)
4.ISO: AUTO
5.Exposure compensation: 0
6.Anti banding: 50
7.Focus mode: AUTO
8.Video resolution: 1280:720 (Every time you try to change this, the lgCamcorder app will crash, even if the resolution is supported, just leave it 1280:720 as it is default)
9.Video encoder: H.264
10.Video file format: MPEG4
11.Video bitrate: 20Mbit (this is a HIGH bitrate and depends on which class of SD card are you using, I've tested with class 10, so if you are facing problems try with lower bitrate)
12.Video framerate: 30
13.Scroll down to "Other settings", open it, find the option "Folder to save photo and video" and navigate it to "mnt/sdcard/external_sd/any_folder_you_want"
That's it for setting up part. Exit the lgCamcorder app.
Now every time you want to record a video, just open lgCamera, switch to video mode with upper right icon, start recording, tap whenever you want to focus, that's it. IF YOU DON'T DO IT THIS WAY THE RECORDING WILL JUST FREEZE/CRASH.
Here's the sample(not the best one low light, my videos on day light are awesome it's just my internet connection preventing me to upload more videos): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2dAaRhnKxo
Is this the stock LG Camcorder or some application?
I use stock LG camcorder in Parandroid CM10, and I cannot set bitrate.

LG Camcorder is a bit buggy especially if you downloaded the apk from somewhere else than the PlayStore, so go ahead and download it via PlayStore, install it, open up the Camcorder, set the Scene to Action, set the bitrate to 20, exit LGCamcorder... wait a bit.
Open it up again, switch to LGCamera by pressing the upper right button so your in picture taking mode, tap to focus, switch to video taking mode by tapping the upper right button again, try to record, it should record without a problem, try and tap to focus it should work perfectly and you should see sharp video!
Every time you wanna record again just go open up LGCamcorder, swith to picture taking mode, tap to focus, switch back to video taking mode with that upper right button then record and tap to focus when you want to focus!
That's it basically! I might upload a video to show you how good focus is in videos, imo amazing!
EDIT: You have to use this combination so the recording will work, I mentioned that the LGCamcorder is buggy, that's the only way I found that it doesn't fail.
EDIT2: Here's the sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2dAaRhnKxo

I tried it but it simply does not want to focus while I'm shooting video. After I I focus on picture mode and start recording, the focus stays like macro and when I tap it remains the same. Do I need to be rooted or have a custom rom? I still have Android 2.3.4. Official. I really need to have touch to focus, because let's say I want to make a review of a tablet. I need to focus at it a bit far away and then focus macro at the buttons and at the screen. It doesnt even let me focus when it is paused :S. Thanks in advance.

LGCamera look nice with many features but... That one crashes or freeze the phone all the times.
Tested on DM ICS, Kowalski CM10 and latest CM10.1
With ICS v30b official firmware, I can select the type of focus with lgCamera (auto, infinity, fixed and continuous) but I can't get more than 15fps in the recording because the app seems to ignore the FPS setting.
Here is how i got mine to work on tonyp's latest paranoid android v10.
Installed lgcamera
Opened the app
Switched to recording mode
Closed the app with back button
Went to settings/apps then chose lgcamera, clean data and force stop
Then opened up lgcamera switched to video recording mode, went to other settings(debug, flash) and turned off Run on camera button pressed and Set screen brightness to maximum.
Trust me, this is the only way to make it work, i had been fiddling with this **** for hours, now i got my autofocus finally
Didnt work :/

Hi, I tried a lot of methods and when I go into to LGCamera and press back, it doesnt let me force stop. When I start recording, It focuses once and doesnt let you focus anymore. I really need to know how to touch to focus while video. Running stock Gingerbread
I have no idea, im on tonyp's pa as i stated above.
for you guys who are facing problems
First post is a little bit outdated and confusing, sorry about that I should edit it.
Just to be safe, uninstall and reinstall lgCamera from scratch.
Things you should setup on first run, open up lgCamera, switch to video mode with the upper right icon, press the menu button on the phone and setup these things:

I did exactly what you said, I don't have Anti-banding feature though. Its 720p but still no touch to focus :/ Samsung Galaxy SII is the mobile I have
I'm not exactly sure about Galaxy S2,
but from what I have been reading S2 already has continuous auto-focus, why would you want touch to focus anyway?
Can't get "tap to focus" to work either. Seems to automatically focus and won't focus on touching while recording.
Is there a way to record 1080p with lgcamera ?
It always make my Optimus 2X crash, what settings are you using if you found a way to do so ?

Same here.
The only difference for my paid lgCamera is : It always crash my phone when I use it as camcorder and at any resolution/bitrate.

Disable Camera Shutter-Sound in external apps such as Instagram etc.

Hi,
I have my P10 on vibration (no sound) and in the stock Camera-App I've disabled the camera shutter sound. The camera doesn't make a sound when taking a photo with the stock app.
However, using apps such as Instagram or others - the sound is loud and clear!
Any workaround on this? Would be so greatful.

Hey,
As far as I know, Instagram doesn't offer a Shutter Sound option. Other apps may have an option to disable it, just like the stock cam app.
Maybe not use Instagram or use the Facebook Instagram camera (swipe right from FB) because it doesn't make the shutter sound when on silent.[emoji4]

Unlocked Note 9 Camera Shutter Sound Off

For those of us with the unlocked Note 9, and have noticed that there is no option to turn off camera shutter sound, there is an easy way. Using Good Lock 2018 with the Routines plugin you can set the camera app to launch with system sound at 0. That super loud clack sound had to go. I believe you can also use the Sound Assistant to set individual app sound levels which would permanently set camera to system sound 0 also. Just an FYI.

This is a great idea! How do you automatically change the volume setting back to how it was or on once done with the camera app?
Sent from my SM-N950U1 using Tapatalk
If you use the Routines plugin in Good Lock 2018 it will switch to no system volume then immediately back. It's critical that you use either Routines or some other automated system because the alarm won't sound. In Routines click the +, name your routine, click add condition, choose Launch an Application, then click the underline, choose Camera, then click Add Action, choose Sound Mode, then click the underline, then you can choose volume levels for all sound types(Media, Notification, System, and Ringtone. System is the one you set to 0. Then save and it will switch to 0 then back every time you use the camera.

And why would you want to do this: making a picture without the "clicking"-sound?
Upskirt and stalker pictures with ninja stealth. Joking aside, it is annoying. It is like skeuomorphistic design but with sound. I can understand the legality I some countries but at least let us change the sound.
You can simply change your volume settings to mute or vibrate, that disables the camera sound temporarily if needed. Just use your volume rocker or select mute/vibrate in your quick toggles.

I did this and my issue is once you exit the app, the Ringtone volume does not revert to previous setting (full volume).
I put together a little app that mutes the camera sounds for my own use if you want to give it a try? Basically, all it does is, when you launch the camera the system sound drops to 0, then when you exit the camera it goes back up to what it was originally set to, much the same as previously mentioned.
Download, install, go to your app drawer and look for Camera muted, click on it once (nothing will launch), this will set your system volume to 0, reset your system volume to what you want. From now on everytime you launch the camera it should automatically do what I mentioned at the beginning.

On a side note, if you want the camera sounds back, just uninstall the app.
padlad, I've tried to check your app, but it doesn't start at all. Also I get no error messages whatsoever. Are you still working on the app? The phone is from a local carrier.
Edit: Also on the "Why in the 1st place? - As a long term DSLR user, this sound is just offensive to the community. They should've thought/asked better prior mimicking it this way.

Try this one, same as above but when you 'click' the app a flash message will pop up. No need to reset your system volume manually. Install, 'click' or 'open' camera mute (you should only need to do it once), then open the stock camera and it should be silent when you use it, If shutter sounds are still present, close the camera app and reopen it, the shutter sounds should now be silent. Good luck :good:

Yes, unlocked on Sprint
Thank you but.... the pop-up says says sounds should be disabled, yet the camera app works and sounds as before. Should I reboot after the install?
And I haven't had updates in around a week, but I doubt it that they will remove the sounds from Samsung for the EU. It's about laws, not user preference.
Is your app SoC related? Because mine runs the Exynos.
For now the only good option is to lover or mute the System sounds from the settings menu.

Try opening the camera app again and trying. I've noticed when first installed, and enabled, the camera app still makes the shutter sounds, but when you exit the camera app and then launch it again the shutter sounds are silent (that's for the updated app I posted) .
Yep, still not working. Not after restarting, not after closing and opening app.
If you use Automagic, then this flow seems to work:
https://automagic4android.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1915&p=6260
If you turn System Volume down, it also disables the shutter sound, and it doesn't effect alarms or ringtones.

What about disabling shutter sound and mods like this?

I don't see any mods yet which would remove the camera shutter sound. Also I miss the in-built call recorder option. Can I get them anywhere?

I have no need for a call recorder so I can't help you there but I turn shutter sounds off in camera settings.
You can use Bixby routines to turn off the sound when the camera app is launched. It will disable the shutter sound. When you exit the camera app, the sound will be turned on again.
I guess I'm missing something but why turn off any sounds? Don't all S10 stock cameras have the shutter sound switch in camera settings?

In certain countries laws forbid the shutter sound from being turned off so the phone variants for those countries don't have the option in the camera settings. There are apps that can do it though. My wife has an LG G8 and LG phones don't have a switch to turn it off so she uses No Shutter Sound from the app store and it works great.
