So I flashed jw1 with Odin on my friends i9000m and everything passed its just now the phone doesn't boot I don't even get the Samsung screen... I can only get download mode
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
At least you still got download mode make sure you're putting the files in the correct location. Put the pda. tar under pda, phone under phone (you may want to use the kg3 modem for phone.) and csc under csc. (again might want to use the kg3 csc.) All these files can be downloaded from the Ramad thread under general. Kg3 is under north America 2.3.3. Use the phone and csc files from there. And what ever pda you choose. Jw1, jw4 or jw5.
Fwiw I'm on jw5 with kg3 phone and csc. Running semaphore 2.7.4 Kernal for root and DMore 3.3 Rom for all the bells and whistles.
Good luck.
Here is link to Ramad thread.

So I had to revert back to 2.2 kc1 firmware.. but I need to be on gb with cwm to flash cm9.. I own an i9000m myself and have never encountered this problem before
Is there a rooted kernel just for KG3?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
So i just restored back to stock KG3 for some reason this phone only likes bell firmwares.. Im searching like crazy to fine a rooted kernel with clockwork mod recovery for ugkg3 but am having no luck
Ya there is. Can't remember where I got it from. I haven't been on stock kg3 for a while. Google it. But if you just follow my instructions from the previous post you can have root access and flash cm9.

Simple and straight question : Can I flash a stock JVR ROM as PDA in Odin and keep the original KG3 modem and CSC "files" in place ?
I know I could flash the entire JVR thing and then flash both modem and CSC afterwards, but why would I want to do that if I can just flash PDA ?
It's getting awfully hard and complicated for someone like me that's not used to flash ROMs 5 times a week to find the answer to such a trivial question without being overwhelmed with answers that go in every direction...
I have no need for root, nor for CWM ... just want to keep up to date with the rest of the world as far as PDA goes!
Thanks
I suggest just flashing the JVR PDA, KG3 Modem.bin and KG3 CSC. Before you do that, back up your APN with APN Backup. That will save you time rather than manually entering in any data. I don't see any gain not flashing both the Modem and CSC.
Edit: Grammar.
your question is one of those deceptively simple ones...
yes, you should be able to just flash the jvr pda
... but you know what in the spirit of murphy's law as applied to flashing, there is no reason not to also include the kg3 modem and csc at the same time when you flash -- you have to use odin anyways, and its only two more ticks and the firmware is available in distinct bits to allow you to do this
Right... point well taken!
Thanks

you're welcome
BTW the move to JVR is worth it, as the firmware is the best 2.3.4 available and a significant improvement over 2.3.3
the KG3 modem and csc both flash and play nice with the jvr rom, so you will have no problems
Now running JVR on KG3 modem and CSC... been running rock solid for a few hours

I have rooted my Galaxy s2 and speaking to a friend recommended rooting to his older Galaxy S...This he did to his Galaxy S (see below) but has Boot problems and no GPS.
Can anyone recommend a nice rom/kernal that should run the phone nicely.
F.W 2.3.3
Kernal 2.6.35.7.I900

Build Gingerbread.BVJV9
Above is what he loaded and is causing problems

Easiest solution is to grab a stock firmware from samfirmware.com and flash back to stock using Odin. Make sure to select repartition to wipe the phone and make sure you use all the files from samfirmware that you downloaded in Odin.
Instructions for how to use Odin in also on samfirmware along with YouTube...

Darkyys rom is always a good option. Adds a load of features, speed boost. This is obviously if you wanted to keep root.
I have been reading up on lag fixs but I am still lost, I have an Bell Samsung galaxy s i9000m with stock gingerbread I9000UGKG3, I have tried CF-root, speedmod, and SO_zImage_opt_ext_root_V4_8_3 but none worked. I was told by a friend that with the new ROMS you dont need lag fixs any more. Is this true and also i ran quadrant 3 times and got 996,1051, and 1009. If any one has gotten their Bell I9000m lag fixed could you let me know what you used?
Just flash some kernel (I suggest Semaphore as it works best for me), download & install CF's ext4 app (use search if you want to find it) and you are good to go.
First upgrade your firmware.... I have a i9000m but use jvz pda, kg3 modem and csc. Then flash the latest semaphore or some other kernel. Without lagfix you will be around 2000 on quadrant... With around 2800+...

This is a great thread on flashing which also includes firmware.

thank you guys for the replys expecially around X-mas. I updated to CM& and everything worked fine but it kept telling me that it was in roaming mode so I tried to flash the ugkg3 modem with ODIN, placed it under PHONE woth nothing else selected. BUt it soft bricked my phone, So I tried Milkys 1.3 but I got the same roaming problem, I didnt try to updated the modem those. Because of the roaming problem I flashed stock froyo and speedmod-kernel-k13c-500hz.tar and lag fix worked with 1300 quadrant scores. I wish I knew how to flash the ugkg3 modem properly because CM7 and Milky 1.3 gave me quadrant scores of over 2000. If anyone has free time to give me instructions on modem flashing I would reallly apreciate it. or is there an overclock for froyo that will still keep my lagfix?
I haven't used cm7 much but I'm pretty sure you have to flash the modem for cm7 as a zip in cwm. There is a thread on here somewhere with all the modems as zip files including the kg3 modem which would be best for you. Heres the link to the modems for cwm. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158783

Bell phones are famous for having a ****ty Internal SD Card. You might not want to ruin the life of the SD Card by using lagfixes. If I was in your place, I would live with the lag instead of ruining my phone.
Hi, I flashed my phone to gingerbread a while ago, not too sure how I did it, but I somehow managed to successfully . Anyways, It does function properly; however, I noticed when I restart the phone it calls itself a GT-i9000 when it starts. This is something that wasn't the same before, and I'm sure that has something to do with what you're about to help me with.
I don't think I changed the bootloader at all, which is what I am afraid of. I am interested in changing the phone back to factory settings, or if you guys have a suggestion on anything that is faster, I'd like to hear about that too!
Thanks, screen caps of settings available on request.
The GB package probably included GB bootloaders. They are backwards compatible with froyo roms if that is what you are reverting too.
Or you can Odin stock boot loaders or find a stock package that includes them.

I am not able to re flash back to stock because i formatted again and lost the files. As far as i read its a gingerbread version called XVJ1. Not sure if that helps out any.

My phone had the "m" in the boot screen when I bought it, after I rooted it, it was gone, but other than the "m" missing for 18 months, it's working great.
I'm on WEUI 4.04 with Semaphore 1.1.1 kernel and UGKG3 modem
I find it very fast and stable, battery life 1 to 3 days depending on useage
Hope this helps...
My hasn't had the m since the day after I bought it. You live in Canada right? If so the stock firmware you need is Ugkg3. Get it from the ramads firmware thread in general. Flash all three files under appropriate sections and voila back to stock gingerbread. If you want to upgrade your firmware, flash jw5 under pda but flash kg3 under phone and csc. Then root with semaphore 2.7.4. By flashing that under pda after the firmware upgrade. And top it off with flashing Dmore3.3 in cwm after. Great rom for gingerbread. Gl.

So i was testing out one of my ports which doesnt boot. I went to format data through mounts and storage, overshot and formatted my internal sd. So now, i cant boot into system, and cant put a .zip onto my phone. So i flashed semaphore with odin, then used my moms sd card to try to flash a rom from. But now it just boots into recovery. I cant find any ics roms to flash with odin. So i have to go back to stock.. I have the stock samfirmware file (I9000XXKG3-HomeBinary.tar) (<- something like that). But there is no one package option in odin. Help appreciated.
Go to:
[Firmwares]Official I9000/I9000M Firmwares collection [Latest: XWJW6, XWJW5, XXJW4]
Scroll to - Gingerbread 2.3.3 firmwares section - North America (I9000M)
I already have stock firmware, i need to know how to flash the single package
Put it in PDA section with repetition ticked and flash

It will take you all of a minute to download the three parts (comes in one file) and you get the exact instructions to ODIN flash.

a newer version is available @ http://www.darkyrom.com/index.php?threads/odin-darkyrom-10-2-resurrection-gt-i9000.4272/
After flashing one of the roms obove, all should be fine again and you can start flashing the rom you originially wanted ;-)
I figured out my first problem, I flashed kg3 cause I forgot that my i9000 is international, not a Canadian one. (Even though I'm in Canada).
So I will flash JVU like it originally was and then flash the darky rom.
Thanks for the help!
