[Q] UBS Storage - Motorola Droid Bionic

Noob here, when I plug in my phone I can't get my mac to recognize it anymore.. I am on Grape gummy if that helps at all. Is there also a way to get the multiple USB connection options back such as "charge only, USB Mass storage, PC mode Etc"? I greatly dislike the old style USB options that mimic my OG DROID USB Connection.
Any help is much appreciated, Thanks

[Q] Can't access recovery mode

After un-rooting my phone, I can't access my recovery mode from boot (gives me the phone's red no-go sign); nor the simple recovery version from the security settings (it's not there at all). The only thing I've been able to do is install updates from HTC Sync. I have a nandroid backup I want to apply so my questions are....
Is there any way to fix not having the recovery option?
Is there any way to re flash the whole phone back to complete factory settings?
Is there any way to install the nandroid backup without needing recovery?
If theres a question here I didn't ask that you think might help me as well I'd appreciate the knowledge base. Halp! This really sucks.

Did you try booting into recovery by powering off, and holding home and end call?

Samsung Captivate is now being recognized as CD Drive E

I installed a Rom and everything was working perfectly fine. Now when I try to turn on mass storage, my phone is being recognized as a CD Drive E and not Removable Disk F. Please help.
What kernal are you using?
I too was having this problem. If you turn off debug mode, and connect usb and choose kies firmware update, but don't open kies, you will be able to transfer files to your sd. It's a work around, but it worked for me.
I had to flash to a different kernal to solve mine.

Thats the kernal that was causing me the problem.
Oh... That's weird cause it has worked with a bunch of roms I tried and then I decide to install the dilligaf rom and it doesn't work.
can you transfer files by setting USB up for kies update?
Yeah that worked. Thank you. Just wish I knew why all of a sudden using mass storage ain't working. I liked the convenience of having usb debugging and mass storage on at the same time lol. Oh well...

I don't know why it stopped working. I couldn't figure it out. Mine was the same on initial flash everything worked great, then the usb started acting buggy like yours.
I tried reflashing firebird 3 times. still the same problem
When I swapped kernals (speed mod now) The problem went away.

Same problem for me and Serendipity. I de-lagfixed, flashed Firebird over the original Kernel (battery life is more important to me than speed) and hooked it up. The internal sdcard was now a CD, and unwriteable. Oh well, when I went to re-disable the lagfix to try another kernel flash, the phone bricked, and it was off to Asgard...

Need help getting back to stock

I followed this site religiously for nearly the first year that I had my captivate. I've been busy for the last few months and am completely lost on where I am and where I need to go to get my phone back to stock and then updated to the newest rom.
My phone was running CM7 just fine in April (I haven't updated anything since then, I think) but recently began force closing EVERYTIME that I tried to open ANY program. I used cwm and restored my system to what I had previously installed but am getting random reboots (this had never been an issue before).
I've been pretty good about taking care of my phone in the past, but it's been so long since I've messed with this stuff I have no idea what I have installed or what to do to get rid of it.
Right now my phone info says this:
android version 2.3.3
JK3 modem
Kernel version; 2.6.35.7 codeworkc #1
Mod version: Nightly 03042011
Build Number: GRI40
I'd like to get back to stock so I can reorient myself before catching up with current versions.
Thanks
I forgot to point out that odin doesn't recognize my phone.

Do you have the phones drivers installed? Do you have Android SDK installed with Nexus S drivers? Did you run ODIN as Admin?
you might want to just keep trying odin. Restart or reboot your computer.. try a different USB port. I had Odin stop recognizing my phone once. All it took was a restart of the computer and has worked fine for me since.
That's what I would suggest
My drivers say they were successfully installed but don't seem to work in download mode. I can drag and drop files without issue when the phone is on.
I don't have SDK installed.
I've tried all my USB ports on each of my computers, restarting, and have even unplugged every USB device except for my phone; no dice.
At this point I'm considering throwing my phone at the wall and running over it a few times to cash in on my warranty and maybe even have a shot at getting a captivate with a working gps.

If you have cwm recovery.. just flash another ROM in recovery. Wipe your caches data and dalvik before you flash and even factory reset. Unless you need gingerbread bootloaders, a lot of ROMs can be flashed right over one another without the whole FTS biz.
*edit* also wanted to mention CM7 is funky with storage space. If you go into terminal emulator in your apps and type "df" ..look for your datadata, make sure your under 90%. Once that fills up you'll start to get more and more force closes. The cure is to move some apps to your SD card.

I recommend you install SDK and install the Nexus S drivers with it. Its stupid but considering CM7 is based of Nexus S phone those drivers might be needed. On other cases it seemed to help.

lol Glad to hear its working, best of luck. On a side note I really do recommend sticking with I897 roms they tend to work better with the phone. I9000's ported ones would be a close second for GB. Just my 2cents. Im a big fan with Cyanogenmod on other devices like HTC and Motorola, but on SGS they still need some work ^^
I've already got cognition 5 up and running.
I've always been happy with designgear's stuff

Stock firmware

Hi there xda world, I have a captivate and the USB port on it is broken but I need to put it back to stock. Is there a way of doing that without a computer?
I have CM9 installed on it and it has become unstable, When I was using it all I woul;d have done is put it back to stock and reinstall it and it would be good but I cant do this.
Try Mobile Odin: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro
I need a full stock reset though the full stock os
got it I had to hold the usb cable up the whole time while odin did its thing

Wish my USB would fix itself like that. I'm in the same situation but Mobile Odin won't work because of the partition differences that CM uses. I have no mobile signal so want to wipe the entire thing clean just in case there's something in the software that is screwing with the comm chip.

If you have a local public library i'm sure a computer there would work. I don't actually have a Captivate so I can't be too helpful here. I just stumbled across this post when I was looking for Odin files to put one back on stock.

The USB on my PHONE is dead so a library PC wouldn't matter.

Help please!!!

For the most part i am not a noob. I have used kits, and roms, and odin, and twrp for years on sammy devices.
Ok, so here it is.
I had phone rooted, all was good, went through the steps to unroot, and get official MM update, then rooted again. I am now looking to get the new Google Pixel device, however, the person taking the phone wants it stock, and unrooted.
I have all the files downloaded, but now it seems that my phone will not connect to the computer, nor will it be recognized by ODIN, this is the same computer i always, use, i do not do any updates on this computer, it is pretty much used only for phones, and video editing.
Should i try wiping device first, then see if it connects so that i can flash via ODIN?
Device does not come up either when looking into the Device Manager.
Any help would be much appreciated.

If You're already on stock just rooted why not boot into recovery and factory reset? If not on stock try another touchwiz based ROM see if you can get USB connectivity of any type, if so good, if not USB port may have a cold solder on data pins.
Since youre on stock this is one of the few times ibwould recomend using samsung kies. It should wipe your phone and set it back to stock. Good luck hope it works out.

I have been trying to download a ROM, but none of them will continue to download to the phone. They get about 60% and then it stops.

Exactly why i suggested kies. It should work IF you are just rooted and stock and have made no other mods.

Phone will not connect to computer unless the device is powered off so I can't use Keys cuz it does not detect that the phone is plugged in

Finally got a ROM to download, just finished installing. As soon as I get home, I will see if I can connect to my computer. I will update back with more info.
New update, RaoM, downloaded, and flashed. Everything good. Still no USB working. So now I am to guess it is broken, but, have no way to return to stock.
So, how do I return to stock without access to computer via Odin or kies?
I have purchased a spare battery last week anyway, got it yesterday, came with battery charger. So for now good, a little bit.
Nope, no working. Now it seems that the USB port works about 5% of the time. And Tmobile, told me 200 to send it in for repair/replace, get the hell outta here.
If your usb is borked the only option is to open up the phone and see whats wrong. Do you have any repair shops close to you? Where i live we have these little cellular stores that sell cheap phones and repairs maybe they can replace the usb port? Other wise time for a new phone. You sure its the port and mot your usb cord? Good luck hope it works out.
