I donn't like partition! Because ext4, 2 partition,...case other device can't read! (nokia, mp3 player, card player,...)
I like 1 partition as FAT 32 and normat move app to SD as Foyo default app2sd!
But Foyo app2sd is not move dalvik cache and private data (I need dalvik only)
How to move dalvik cache to SD to save more space without partiton?
Use link to sd and make both fat 32 partitions, link 2 sd moves dalvik catche to sd....

ext2 will be better.
1. make partition using CWM Recovery or via PC with Mini Tool Partition Wizard.
2. Make the small partition EXT2
3. Set other partition active.
4. Format them
5. Start phone and start Link2SD, it will promp to choose partion format type. Choose EXT2
6. Reboot
7. Start again Link2SD and you are ready to move applications to SD card.
Anything change when use link2sd

that is because u did a partition of 1gb sd-ext which is a linux partition and will not be shown on windows.
so now u have,
7gb fat partition and
1gb sd-ext : use DTa2sd or any other script to move that dalvik-cache here if u feels it is necessary.
Hei can i use this script on stock rom...

Ok you can do
1) First partition your SD card by Gparted http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php and burn to cd
2) make partition ext2 or ext3 (not FAT) to your SD card and insert
3) Download link2SD application from market
4) Link2SD will detect partition
5) select partition and reboot
6) Now link2SD shows all apps and that helps to move dalvik cache and data to sd card partition, and u will be able to free internal memory
7) Remember, those apps currently installed in SD card need to be moved to phone first then Data and dalvik cache need to be linked to SD card
after linking Cache and data to SD card reboot your phone
link2sd

link2sd recognizes and uses FAT32 partition as well.
Hi I have Squadzones CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC5 and I tried to partition my SD card for using one of the apps to make internal storage bigger.
So I have a 2Gb SD card and want to use 512Mb for Increasing internal storage, Dalvik cache, System apps and all other apps (But I want system to think they are internal, know what I mean?) and then 1.5Gb for External Storage so I can use it for Music, downloads, pictures, videos etc... Basically the space my PC can see.
So what settings should I choose in CWM and which app is the best for increasing internal storage????
Thanks in advance
first partition sd card on pc using a partition manager like Easeus partition manage, minitool etc. Format the partktion by either FAT or ext3 file system. Now,download a free software from android market called 'link2sd'.
Advantage of using this is that you can select which apps to move to sd or which to not.You can also link any apps to sd-ext partition.
If I helped helped you press thanks.
If I use this how much space will I have left to store music and such or will this use let the whole 2 Gb be used and then use some of that for storing cache and such

If you have a 2gb card you can make a partition (for eg.512mb ext3 partition)by using the above mentioned ways. You can only link any application to that partition only. However you can force move any app to sd card by using link2sd.In that case some software may gets functionless if they are not meant to move to sd(here you can apply 'link'function of link2sd.)
Advantage of link2sd over darktreamer app2sd or s2e is that you can select which part of the app (app, data or delvic cache) should be linked to sd.Moreover it is the most easiest method.
hello guy
i want to ask u all
how can i partition my sd card using cwm?
i can see advanced > partition sd card
if can, can u show how to do it and what to do after done this step?
is it safe?
i want to do it via minitool partition but i do not have sd card reader
i'm using ketut blackhawk dxkt7 rom
You can partition the sd card using CWM recovery.
Be sure to backup your data as in the partition the sd card is formatted.
After selecting partition sd card the first thing you will see is the option to select the size of the partition that you want to make (generally select 1024=1gb).
Next will be the swap size. This is optional.
After selecting these options your sd card will be formatted with a 1gb ext partition.
Hope this helps.

I use CWM partitioning in conjunction with DTA2SD and it's awesome
Herpderp Defy.
I'm with SuperAce609 here. Look into my signature and find the link in which I've thanked him. After partitioning your SD card, the only thing you have to do is install S2E and reboot your SGA after you install any CM7 based Custom ROM. & boom! No matter if you install 100+ apps, you will never be out of internal memory.
use the search option.

Ok, this is my LG Optimus 3D system:
System ROM:1GB
Internal ROM: 1GB
Internal SD Card: 6GB
Ext SD Card: 32GB
I always facing "out of internal memory" problem. So, if I ever partition my SD Card vi CWM, what will change? Which part can be greater in size?

Can't. CWM makes ext3 partition, period.
You'd have to modify cwm to get it to partition in ext4 format.
I found this "4EXTRecovery" interesting for making ext4, just to make sure if anyone use and confirmed it work.

According to my experience.. cwm 5.0.2.6 for galaxy ace makes an ext2 partition.. It doesn't give any other ext option.. I don't know how is it possible to make ext3/4 partition using cwm..
By the way, what's the latest cwm version for galaxy ace ??

Hello. I've just partitioned 256M of my 2GB SD card using CWM version 5.0.2.6 for s5830 . Now how do I transfer apps to SD? Also i have most of my apps on SD except for Facebook and Maps yet still the internal memory is 160/180 Thanks

Link2SD
Use the app Link2SD From the PlayStore. it's free and its easy to use
But Link2SD says i need to create 2 partitions and both as primary?? All i did was use CWM to create a 256M partition. What do u mean primary ? sorry i'm new to all this.
You now have two partitions. 256 mb ext3 and the remainder primary.
Link2sd will use the ext3.
256 is small though.

It is asking me to choose which partition. Is that ext2 or ext3?
EDIT: I chose ext2 and it rebooted my phone without asking me.
Cwm creates an ext3 partition. Reboot is normal to mount partition.
