Rooting Issues - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

While playing with my HTC and learning stuff I had to reinstall the RUU ( RUU_Holiday_Rogers_WWE_1.65.631.1_Radio_1.11.1020.03_30.77.551061.02L_release_219561_signed ) for Rogers. Unlocked my boot loader again but for some reason I can not get root on the phone. I have Tried Vivids AIO Kit, I have installed the CWM root recovery img and installed that but still can not get root. Any one have a suggestion on how to fix this.
** Update ** Got it rooted finally...

Would you please share how you got it fixed, or what step you had issues with to help save some people from frustration.
Thanks alot

I am also having that same issue. I have been trying and trying but i dont quite know enough about the vivid yet to know what it wants me to do. Can you tell what you tried to get yours rooted?
****UPDATE****
I fixed it, what i did was run the WCXJB ROOT PACKAGE and do the root again and while still in Hboot i booted into recovery and flashed a new rom. I went from stock to HolICS. I now have root.

Major Issues. Need Help. Will Make Donation!

I have a N1 that I recently was trying to root and superboot.
I rooted and unlocked the phone. I was trying to superboot is via fastboot and that's when something went wrong. It boots into 2.2, and allows me to unlock it, but the phone returns to the splash screen of the X and keeps looping.
What do I do? I've tried to reflash the orig. rom and it said that there was newer software and it wouldn't revert to an older version. Tits....
I'll gladly donate, someone just gimme a hand pleeease.
Thanks in advance.
provide a link for the guide you followed to unlock and root the phone... and what recovery are you using to flash the ROMs?
also, did you have 2.2 installed before you tried to unlock and root the phone?
Thanks for the help.
rjhay22 ended up giving me little help. He knew exactly what was up. Thanks for the help rjhay.

[Q] Issue loading recovery

Hi guys,
Followed the steps in forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736271 to root my N1. All worked ok, and had root access. I proceeded to flash a custom recovery and received an error "mtd: not writing bad block at 0x000xxxxx". I redownloaded the recovery again, with the same issue. I rebooted and found that the recovery had loaded, however, after another reboot, was no longer the Amon recovery, but stock?
Second question is how can i unroot and go back to full stock? Tried a method found in another threat but was receiving a "verification failed" error - i assume because the version being flashed was too old for the FRF91 i had.
Any help is appreciated
Update
Hi ended up downloading EPE76 and renaming it to passimg, and letting recovery find/run it to unroot.
I then upgraded to FRF85B by downloading and renaming it to update.zip and running it from recovery.
And finally, i downloaded FRF91 and renamed to update.zip and ran it, again from recovery console, to get back to where i was before the hassles.
Not sure if this was the correct way to unroot, but my radio, rom version etc all matches before i started the rooting. The recovery flash never stuck (even though i did it in manual mode), and so it seems i am stock again.
Any advice on the issues in my first post?
best way to root

had same issue while rooting my latest nexus one, not exactly sure of how it happend but I just did same process and it worked fine. Command error or adb push into wrong place. I just cut and paste commands and it worked out fine.
First nexus one I unlocked bootloader and ended up selling it, thinking of switching to iphone 4, but decided to stay with n1.

Hi there...
The method i used is a copy of that but without the battery mod.
Didn't really think having to trim the battery pack was a great idea...

Yeah starting to wonder if i should even bother trying again... just not sure if CM will be worth the effort. Was more doing it to check it out, rather than a need.
If i can find out how to unroot properly (i may have done it correctly above), i may give it another go. Just felt my unroot effort was trial and error and not really game to try it again and stuff it completely.

Troubles Unrooting/Removing Clockwork URGENT!

Here's the story:
A while back, I rooted my Nexus One without unlocking using the bait and switch method, and had been using various custom ROMs.
Recently, the power button hasn't been working well, so I called HTC to get a swap. Obviously, before sending my phone back, I need to unroot it.
I tried to restore my phone using the method in the XDA guides, but it hung on each step, and it didn't actually do anything. So, I flashed the non-rooted stock ERE27 through ROM Manager (this, I suspect was a huge mistake.)
Now, I have an rooted phone, that fails on any update attempt and so is stuck on 2.1, and worse, Clockwork Recovery is still on there. I've tried to unroot my phone again using both the bait and switch method, and the freenexus method, but both have run into errors. I've also tried installing Universal Androot and clicking Unroot, but it just tells me my phone isn't rooted.
So, I can't root my phone to attempt to flash the recovery, and I can't find a way to remove Clockwork Recovery, but I need to send this phone back to HTC within the next 7 days, or else I'm gonna be out $530.
Any ideas?
First: hate to be a douche, but someone's gotta say it: this is the wrong subforum for a question thread. Take a quick glance over the rules stickied at the top of the forum. There's a Q&A forum for things like this.
Second: HTC has typically honored the warranty for known hardware problems (of which the power button is probably the biggest) even for unlocked/rooted devices. They find for me, no problems. So relax.
Last, try using ClockworkMod recovery to flash CM 6 stable, then from that ROM, try flashing back to stock recovery. After that you should be able to flash a stock OTA ROM. You can't change recovery without root access, which you can't get on a stock ROM. So you have to change recovery first. And on your new phone, you should really just fastboot OEM unlock. Trying to deceive HTC makes them not want to give us this option anymore.
Yup no worries I had to send mine in because the trackball got stuck and they got it under warranty ... I had my phone running a custom recovery and rom and they didn't even ask about it.

Little help please

Hi all,
I have been around a long time though i have never had trouble like this before..
i got a Incredible S PG32130 - HBOOT 2.0000.00 - Australian Delivered OPTUS002
I tried to follow the downgrade path so i could get S-OFF found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697
Everything went fine so i proceeded with the older RUU flash to get back to 1.13 so can then run revoutionary..
Though the older RUU flash failed leaving the device hanging quietly brilliant.
Tried a few methods to get it back online to no avail.
So i htcdev unlocked the bootloader.. worked fine. still couldnt flash anything though. so put on CWM Recovery 5.0.2.0 which also worked fine..
I could then install custom ROMS.. So i tried IceColdSandwich though that wouldnt boot.. flashed the X4 kernel without issue.. so i assume it's cause the radio is still old and from what i gather i cant flash a new radio without S-OFF (i have tried through CWM and via Fastboot and via PG32IMG autoload in the bootloader and all fail.
So i tried an AOSP GB ROM still no luck.. Though neither of these would actually flash. get an communication error.. (could that be because ADB is not working? - am i missing a driver?)
And even tried a of legit WWE and CM7 both fail to install as well.
RUU_VIVO_ICS_35_S_HTC_WWE_4.10.405.1_Radio_20.74.30.0833U_3831.18.00.11_M_release_266013_signed
From my limited knowledge Radio is independent of AOSP/Sense/GB/ICS though Kernel is dependant. Though the only thing i havent been able to flash is the radio.. will the wrong radio stop you booting?
What are my options here to get S-OFF? I cant adb the device no matter what i do though i do have working recovery and fastboot.
Little help would be greatly appreciated.
damn..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105
this fixed me.. the manual flashing of the boot.img was the problem..
ffs.. i have spent hours and read so many guides and that one was the only one that mentioned that you had to manually flash boot.img.
thanks all.

Do you still require s-off? What error message did the ruu return when it failed?
the RUU error is simply USB Connection ERROR though this happens after it has erased and sent the package to the phone.
I think it maybe due to not being able to use ADB.. so prob a driver issue. either way i dont really need S-OFF and after the hours i have spent on this i am reluctant to play more
It aint even my phone! Mine is Sensation which is already S-OFF'd
Thanks for the offer though.

I screwed up and I'm on a Mac

Ok. So I am brand spanking new to rooting and flashing on the Turbo. I did it for a few years on the HTC Thunderbolt and the One. I followed the directions in the How To in the General subforum, used Sunshine, and then since I am on a Mac, I used Kingroot to root and then Flashify to install TWRP. I then did a full wipe in TWRP, installed the Brazilian ROM in the development forum, and then rebooted.
Then my troubles began.
It boots all the way to the "Select your language" screen, freezes, then reboots. Repeatedly. I can get into the stock recovery, but I can't find TWRP, so I figured that I had to install the linked kernel in the Brazilian forum. I installed it in the stock recovery, since I couldn't figure out how to boot into TWRP, but it didn't make a difference. Still freezes and bootloops. I've factory reset in the stock recovery, but nothing. I made a newb mistake and failed to make a backup of my original stock rom, and now I don't know what to do. I have a feeling I have to figure out how to connect to the phone storage via the Mac and load something else to install, but I don't know what. Help! Also, since I factory reset, I no longer have the Brazilian ROM on my phone. What the hell do I do?
Not a Mac person...
I'd find a Windows machine and flash the original firmware and start over. ... Never used it myself
But I believe the software is called rsd lite.
I figured it out!

Do tell?
I expect the OP followed the wrong instructions? They mentioned using Kingroot, which is NOT recommended for rooting these phones. Sunshine is all you need... I figure he had issues because Kingroot has issues....
The joke response I was going to give was: "I screwed up and I'm on a Mac"... yeah, I agree... that's one hell of a screwup.
You have to use King root if you want to install flashify. Sunshine no longer allows temproot outside of sunshine.
This might help future mac users:
