I was wondering if anyone else has this issue, the sound being loud even on medium volume. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated, besides lowering the volume

Check on Settings/Calls and see if there is a hearing aid option. If it is there, make sure it is unchecked. This setting will make earpiece calls sound very loud, almost like it was on speakerphone, and when it is on, lowering the volume has little or no effect.
I found that the hearing aid is on...but there is no way to uncheck it. The option is gone

I have the same issue with accessibility features. Hopefully the new update fixes that.

Same issue with theVolume always 100%
I have looked under every setting I could and nothing works. When I make or receivea call my ear volume is100%so I turn it down. Next call its back up. Itwill not stay low. Ive tried 4-5 volume controlers, some with locks. Really frustrating, all is stock. Any ideas???

During the installation process of Holics did you elect to install Sony's xLOUD Audio, by chance? I believe it is automatic unless you uncheck it. I'm guessing this is your problem. I have Holics on my Vivid (with Sony's xLOUD Audio) and I love the louder speakers. If you just don't like the volume during calls you could always use an app like Tasker to set the volume lower automatically when you answer a call.

One of the few flaws in the captivate, I think, is the inability to control both the ringer sound and media sound with the volume buttons. Upon searching for a tweak for this problem, I got half a million results, all talking about the button combos used in flashing roms and various modes. If anyone knows of a mod for this, it would be much appreciated, and if not, I'm up to help someone make one.

Volume control widget. But the buttons do ringer when media not playing and when you are playing something you can do media.

not sure what you are asking for because, at any normal time press the volume buttons and it controls Ringer volume. When you play media and hit the volume buttons it Controls Media Volume. press them durring a call and it changes in call volume....
or to change any volume at any time...
Settings>sound>volume
yes but some times im watching a movie or something, and I exit out of it, if I want to play it in a class or in a crowd I have to suffer an awkward moment of loudness before I can turn it down. On an ipod, I can turn all sounds down in a second without worrying about something going off. Maybe its a little picky but its just one of those things that's nice to have

Audio Manager app.
I've enable the screen lock sound but it doesn't make one, even on full volume??
Anyone else had this?
Very strange, but I noticed the smae on my M7. Curious if there is any way to solve this.
Mine makes a noise, more like a crack, and I can only hear it if I hold the phone very close to my ear.

Is it on silent/vibrate mode?
It's there, it's just VERY VERY quiet for some reason. I turned it onast night and noticed the same thing. If you put your ear up to the bottom speaker while unlocking and locking you will just barely hear it. Kinda pointless if you ask me lol.

Does anyone else notice the volume steps are a bit coarse?
I mean, on the lowest volume setting I disturb others in a quiet room..
Is there a mod for finer tuning on the volume available?
I feel like I'm the only one who thinks there should be a mod for the device especially because of the dual speakers!
Any input appreciated

I think the main problem is the volume level of the notification files are not all the same. It's annoying when you have volume at the first step, but you'll receive a text and not even hear it, but then an email would come through and it's ridiculously loud! 2013 and we still don't have files that are all the same volume levels

I ran into this nuisance as well. The external speaker volume is much too loud for my tastes, even at their lowest setting. Accordingly, I left my alarm volume at its lowest setting to match, figuring it'd be plenty loud enough. Nope! Slept right through it; didn't wake me up once.

Do you use any type of equalizers/DSPs? the main cause for popping sounds is that the speaker is making too much vibrations. When you use a DSP, the increases the vibrations and when audio stops, the DAC will mute it, causing all vibrations to stop at once. The more vibrations, the louder the popping sound will be when the DAC mutes it.
If you don't use any DSPs, just disable the touch sound effect by going into Settings > Sound > (untick) Touch Sounds
If you get popping sounds on stock audio with or without Beats Audio enabled (Or when you are listening to music, playing games etc), it's best you get it checked out by someone because the pop sound is not noticeable with Stock or Beats Audio.
When I refresh email or similar, the refresh sound is followed by a pop after the refresh has finished. It's like the end of a sound file as you can hear white noise in between the refresh and the pop

Then something's really wrong here. You are on stock rom right? If so, I suggest you contact wherever you got the device from and see if they can do anything about it.
This pop sound is normal when using DSPs on speakers but it's not normal when you have it with all audio effects turned off...

Come to think of it, my old one x+ popped just looking at the home screen. Also you could hear the camera chugging away like it was taking pictures randomly. The ONE does this sometimes. Sneaky apps I suspect, using recording and picture taking to spy ??

I hate it.

Hey guys,
The sound while talking on the phone is extremely low (and no, i am not going deaf) it is on maximum at all times, but i can still find it hard sometimes to hear what a person is trying to tell me My work phone's sound bar is always 3/10 on volume, because i got used to low volume
Is there any way of making it louder? Obviously my warranty is voided, but as far as i remember the low call sound started with the 20B update (i am now on 4.4.2 Beanstalk+iodak).
Thanks!
Try turning the volume down and then up again. Not a fix, but an easy workaround
