Howdy!
What is this?
This is a PH39IMG.zip that you flash via HBOOT to restore your phone to stock unrooted Gingerbread shipping ROM. This will also remove Clockwork Recovery
Click to collapse
Why should I use this/care?
If you've updated your phone to the Ice Cream Sandwich build that AT&T pushed out OTA, or flashed your phone manually, you may at some point in time wish to go back to Gingerbread.
If you do, you'll find that the PH39IMG.zip and RUU that you would have previously tried to use don't work, since ICS updated your HBOOT.
This is essentially a "return to warranty" kit. This doesn't remove the "*UNLOCKED*" flag on HBOOT, but it will allow you to return to some semblance of stock just in case.

How do I use this?
Your bootloader must be unlocked to flash this.
Download the file, put it on your external SD, and boot to HBOOT. Accept the update when prompted.
If you're trying to return your phone to AT&T for warranty, you should probably also re-lock your bootloader also ("fastboot oem lock")
Please note!
This is not for HTC Raider / Velocity / Generic Holiday users!
This restores the shipping HTC Vivid ROM for AT&T.

Hopefully this should alleviate some of the fears associated with updating your phone.
I will upload a "return to stock ICS" ph39img here too soon...

Ok, I was stuck in boot loop after OTA, then going to the rooted rom. Could not get it to play nice. Tried this to take me back to GB so I could start over and did the above exactly. After running the update, which appears to work with the little status bar going up and down as it should, it gets stuck at the Hboot screen. (Attached.)
After pulling the battery, it boots to HTC white screen, reboots once, then sticks on the HTC white screen. I can get back to Hboot, but not sure where to proceed from here?

You need to pull the PH39IMG.zip file off your SD card as Hboot looks for it to see if an update is available before it does anything else.

If your bootloader was relocked prior to attempting to flash the RUU or PH39img.zip, then youre doing the right thing.

You must have your bootloader unlocked to flash this image. You can re-lock it afterwords, but you may get a *SECURITY WARNING* in HBOOT, since if you have the new HBOOT, you technically should also have stock ICS.

And that's why I just downloaded and am installing now! Thanks much!!
hey cubed, how are you?
before unlocking bootloader, i flashed the ics ruu so i'm on new hboot and radio,
since i unlocked bootloader and running a wc's 3.5 rom, however i have an issue, when i talk on the phone from speaker, ppl hear their echo, so i'm thinking radio issue, i tried to flash back the gb ruu and no go cuz of bootloader, so i downgraded with the method in OP but it didn't downgrade radio, i tried again to flash gb ruu and no luck, i put the radio.img from the gb ruu into ur zip and now it won't recognize it at all (guessing due to signature) so i'm flashing the stock ics ruu now to see if im gona have the same problem or not. by the way when i flashed ur downgrade zip and loaded, the phone would not connect to any network at all and being a stock rom the option to search for network is greyed out.
so i'm guessing bottom line is im stuck with this new radio since we don't have s-off correct?
is there any way so far to totally downgrade back to the original ship ruu ? bootloader, radio and all ?
thanks

I really don't think it's a radio issue. I believe it's a network issue. I've had an echo on several devices I've used from the original iPhone through iPhone 4 blackberrys inspire and now vivid. But it is not all the time just every once in a while.

yeah i've had it happen randomly before in some phones, but this is consistent every single call for the past 3 days. in different areas, with different people at different times.
i just finished flashing the stock ics ruu and it connected to the network fine and made a couple of quick phone calls and no echo
btw the ppl i talk to hear them selves, i don't hear any echo, it all sounds well on my end. im gona try another 3.5 rom and see what happens
EDIT: just tried holiraider, and it did it. leme see what other roms i can flash
so a quick update, even with a custom sense 3.0 rom, i can't connect to a network at all, it only works with 3.5 roms and i people i talk to have an echo, and only fix is running an ics rom, for some reason when i push the ics ril files into a 3.5 rom i loose all network connections, baseband says unknown and all the phone info except serial number is unknown in the hardware info.
so very strange. so even when using this guide, and restoring the fully stock gb i still cant use the phone
uploaded wrong screenies, i'll update in a sec
EDIT: well i tried again, and flashed thecubed zip and i'm back on the stock 3.0 unrooted, and i noticed that i was able to get the signal up and running when i toggle wifi. by default on first boot its on, so i connected to my wifi as usual, but i dunno why i just turned it off so the network came right up and all was fine with the signal. i turned wifi back on and no problems. i turned it off, no problems. so i restarted the phone, and it won't connect to the network, so i turn wifi on and now i am connected and have full signal. strange, so i wonder if that's due to the radio, or something happened to my phone since i seem to be the only one having those issues
So I'm wanting to install the OTA ICS update but it fails and I get the little red exclamation point when I try.. I am assuming this is because my bootloader is unlocked? I've been trying to find a way to install it but the only one I found was one requiring S-OFF which I don't have..
So basically my question is can I install ICS on my rooted unlocked bootloader?
If absolutely necessary I can always lock it, install, then re unlock it but that's such a pain.. AT&T gets on my nerves sometimes..
I am almost positive that you have to do the re-lock process unless somehow they found another way. You should probably read around next time. Most likely, someone has already asked your question.

I've read quite a few threads but haven't been able to find anything.. and like I said, I did find one but it requires S-OFF and the juniper thing, or whatever to lazy to look up the name right now lol, is not released yet.. and I haven't been able to find another way to get S-OFF..
If you want ics that bad you have to do it like every one else here...there is no reason to whine cause your to lazy to relock the bootloader ..it take all of about three mins for me to relock mine ... and about 20 min to do the whole process...you don't need s off to get ics if your using the vivid or velocity. there's no place for lazy people here so please just do it like ever one else or do with out
I'm fully aware you don't NEED S-OFF to get ICS its the only way I have found to do it with an unlocked bootloader if you even bothered to read my post. And if your going to be rude and unhelpful stay out of my thread, people like you are why forums loose members. I simply asked a question I never said I was lazy and wouldn't do it I was simply looking for an easier alternative.
The S-OFF is obviously a mistake, because if it was S-OFF then you wouldn't have to do fastboot oem lock.
Yes, you have to relock the bootloader. Make sure you kept your unlock_code.bin or else you might not be able to unlock the bootloader again.
To be extra safe you should flash stock recovery before you do anything.
Quick question going along with this, it may be stupid, I just wanted to make sure before I try anything: I'm currently on RumRaider and I want to switch to ICS. If I were to revert to stock and relock and then do the OTA update to ICS from AT&T, can I still get root with the same zergrush application or whatever that I used before?

finally S-OFF and running Dark Raider 1.2.
S-Off and running Dark Raider 1.2 also. Everything is running well. Didn't have to add any apn's in manually which I always find as a plus. Only other rom I tried so far was the ICS for HTC Holiday, installed nice and seemed very smooth. Using Kozmikkernal for the kernal with Dark Raider right now.
I just got this phone today traded it for a T-mobile Lg G2x and boy am I glad I got rid of that phone but before this phone was able to get S off was you still able to flash roms. I currently got the bootloader unlocked and ready to put cwm on it but do you really need S off I seen the method and a little nervous to try that procedure at the moment I usually try to read as much as possible before doing things I have also been rooting my phone's since the Mytouch 3G so I'm not new but not an expert neither.
you don't need s-off, if you have s-on you just have to fastboot the boot.img separately from a computer, then install the rest of the zip from recovery, S-off makes it possible to flash the rom's as one step through recovery.
I haven't bothered with s-off at this point, I don't feel like peeling the VOID sticker off to open the contact cover
Thanks I understand now but would you happen or any one on stock ics rom can help me with the things. First how do I change the short cuts on my lock screen I had a Mytouch 4G which ran sense so I remember all I had to do was go to personalize then display then lock screen style and choose setting when I find the lock screen I want and I could pick the short cut I wanted I some how put a app on my short cut screen I downloaded and it's completely useless and I can't figure out how I did or how to change it. Also where is the menu to download 3rd party apps when I try to download a app from astro file manager it takes me to the security screen if I remember correctly it was under manage apps.

as long as u own VIVID, no need to S-OFF,
S-OFF woth for RAIDER user like me, coz we don't have ICS Official RUU right now.
if raider user wanna taste ICS, we need to S-OFF the device ^_^.
So i have Velocity which means i don't need S-OFF right?
First i understood it's just useful because you don't have to flash the kernel (i think kernel=boot.img ?!) separately?
Or is it just that S-OFF makes it possible to Update hboot without official Update?
Sorry, but i'm a little bit confused about all that. Really want to flash my Velocity but i want at least understand the basics and not just following step-by-step...
actually, i'm ittle bit confued too b4. simply like this, u'r runiing GB right now, then wanna get ICS, you don't need to S-OFF if u'r ROM have Officiall ICS RUU. u can flash custom ICS ROM with unlock bootloader and recovery installed.
Velocity and Vivid already announced have ICS RUU official, but not for RAIDER user.
to get ICS on Raider, we need to flash our current Gingerbread to Gingerbread RUU from provider such as AT&T, coz they already have ICS offcial Update. then Update it with Official ICS RUU from the same Provider.

Is there a beats audio belt in, as in at&t build?
Question
Sorry for the dumb question, but I'm guessing this is the flashable zip by recovery same as any other ROM right?, has any one tested this already??
Thanks!
This file is the OTA update file you will get only when you have Bell's stock GB ROM already installed on the Raider. It is not a complete ROM, and if your CID is not BM___001 it will not let you update.
There is no Beat Audio in this ROM.
any luck getting this installed on a stocked rooted bell raider?
I don't really want to wipe again, buddy of mine tried by locking bootloader removing superuser but it failed.
If you are rooted, with unlocked bootloader, and SuperCID your phone, the update will not apply properly, it will even display a message saying your phone's software has been modified and stops right there.
You will probably have to start fresh again.
I managed to flash it on Roger's Raider (to use on Bell).
I was gonna write a tutorial but wasn't sure how many will actually need it the exact same way I do, here is the short version of what I did:
I was already using AT&T ICS (already have s-off, supercid, etc)
1) in fastboot, change CID to BM___001
2) in fastboot, relock bootloader
3) in fastboot, flash Bell GB RUU
4) boot into OS, update to ICS (right from "System Updates" in settings)
5) in fastboot, unlock bootloader (you will need a new unlock bin, the old one from GB didn't work for me, follow the steps at HTCDEV again)
6) in fastboot, flash custom recovery and change CID back to 11111111 if you want
7) boot into the custom recovery you just flashed, and flash supersu package
8) profit.
That's what I did anyway... let me know if anyone wants a longer version of this.
thanks but i have a stock Bell with S-ON and its just rooted. My buddie already got ICS by lock the bootloader and flashing the Bell GB RUU, but i'm looking for a way around itso i don't have to start over.

I was trying to put a recovery on and root after unlocking bootloader and for whatever reason I cannot get into any recovery other than stock. Once in stock I cannot flash anything. Only thing I could tell was previous owner had a customer kernel on it but now I cannot get past the HTC red writing screen.
Normally in this situation I would go back to stock via PL01DIA.zip update in bootloader but I cannot find a viable one for this specific device.
OK, somehow got a working CWM Recovery. But I cannot get any roms to boot past the HTC red writting screen. Does anyone out there have a full CWM backup of a working Cricket rom?

You have to flash the boot.img via fastboot...

You have a cdma phone. All the roms and recoveries here are for GSM phones. Do not flash anything..

Thanks guys! Sorry for bugging around this forum. Anyone with CDMA ping me, I'm not finding any friends I need a clean back up of any Cricket rom from CWM since it looks like the RUU was never made.
Or, if anyone knows how to change the CID on this phone without S-off. Just looking to make it an MP3 player.

There's only 2 or 3 people with CDMA Desire C's none of them seem to be active here anyway, search for your RUU, maybe a stock Rom will work for you, i'm not sure..
