3) flash RunnyROM
I've even tried:

3) run alignment_cool
4) flash RunnyROM
I have blackrose installed and my partition is 220/10/206

[Q] Changing from CWM to 4EXT Recovery touch

Hey,
I want (well not want, it's necessary) to change from CWM to 4ext recovery touch. i donwloaded the 4ext recovery updater, flashed the recovery from the app and rebooted to recovery. still there is cwm. i tried again with the classic version of 4ext recovery but the result remains the same.
i'd be glad if anyone can help me.
regards
If I'm not mistaken they are integrated..... Synergy!!!!!
i don't know what you're trying to say. my point is that 4ext recovery does not start when it should start. instead cwm is starting.
I'm trying to say that 4ext recovery is integrated into your cwm recovery to allow for 4ext partitions and backwards compatibility to 3ext. If the recovery isn't working you haven't told me that your original h-boot is 2.0000.
yeah right, i didn't told you that.
thanks for your help anyway. i managed to get it working by myself through flashing it via fastboot.
Good to hear no problem.
I am having the same problem. May I know what you mean by flashing using fastboot?

I asume you somewhat know how to use fastboot or read up on it. Havent flashed through fastboot for some time now but I think the line would be "fastboot flash recovery recoveryfile.img"

what i did, downloaded v.1.0.0.3 rc,put the filenin the root of ur sd,then reboot to recovery..after that, just flash it like usual..install zip from sd card, pick the file and confirm install..it will automatically change from cwm to 4ext touch..

Yup. Will Give that method a try when I get home.

I tried flashing using recovery, it fails.

Just my 2 cents, but you can't install core Droid with 4ext, so I have to wonder at it's advantage over cwm.?

Hi,
I don't know how you solved this, but I had exactly the the same problem with an HTC Desire, can't upgrade to 4ext from CWM v2.5.0.7.
In my case, I solved it by running unrevoked again, but specifying the 4Ext recovery image. (I used the 4Ext app on the phone to download the appropriate .zip to the SDCard, then transferred it to the PC and extracted it there.)

Just came along this thread by accident.
Just for reference:
This is nonesense
4ext recovery has nothing to do with cwmr and they are not integrated.
You need to be s-off to be able to flash a recovery from inside your rom.
In the case you are not s-off, just download (or install) the recovery via recovery control/updater.
It will prepare your recovery config, but it cannot effectively update the recovery partition when you are not s-off.
So after you did that, you need to flash it manually.
You will find the recovery.img you tried to install or downloaded via recovery control in your sdcard's download folder.

is it possible flash a rom without s-off?

as the title, my phone couldnt get into adb to get s-off
You need either HTC Dev unlock
or revolutionary s off to flash a custom ROM
That's the simple explanation

You can
And make sure you fast boot flash your boot.img as well
Sent from my Nexus 7
If you're unlocked through htc dev, just flash custom recovery (4ext touch recommended) and you can flash custom roms after that.
Just make sure to flash boot.img through adb as said by mark. Always do this after flashing new rom when you are s-on.

Every time you flash a new ROM or kernel you need to open up the zip of the new ROM and fast boot flash it, otherwise it probably wont boot unless there is a similar kernel already

If you use the app to install recovery, make sure to extract the recovery.img file in the downloaded zip and manually flash that through fastboot. Only have to do this while s-on

In addition to manually flashing the boot.img file from the new ROM's zip file, are you performing a Full Wipe/Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik cache?

I went into recovery and wiped system, data, cache and delvik cache. Does this means formatting all the partitions?
Sent from my Incredible S using xda premium
If you are using 4ext touch recovery, it is available in the wipe/format menu:
"Format system, dalvik, cache and android.secure" (all partitions except fat32 micro SD partition).
Use it every time you flash a different ROM. Or search for the ARHD super wipe script in the arhd thread in the Dev section. The ARHD Suprr wipe script zip file does the same function when flashed from recovery.

[Q] Custom rom w/out unlocking bootlader?

So Nexus One is 2.3.4 and rooted with CWM installed via Rom Manager. Is it possible to install a custom rom without unlocking the bootloader? Thanks for the help in advance!
ofcourse yes. since u already hv cwm installed u can just download a gb custom rom (.zip) to sd card. boot into recovery. wipe all partitions and then install rom (.zip)
thats it

I am doing that for HyperSense Nova (2.3.3) and the rom installs successfully, but I get stuck on the "X" start up screen. I wiped and cleared all partitions. Any idea of what may be causing this?

You can't flash hypersense ROM on stock partition. And without unlocking the bootloader you can't flash custom hboot. Read instructions on the OP.
