Check yagya's blog. He has a good guide on editing the boot image. You will need some tools and you can download them from there. You will be editing the boot image so you will have to be careful with it as it contains the kernel and ramdisk.

Use dsixda kitchen or do it manually using some tools

decompiler boot.img.
convert a PNG (bether use black and withe photo !!!) to RLE with "png to rle converter"
rename ur new rle file to TASS.rle and put in ram-disk folder where u decompiler boot image.
compiler again boot.img.

Check it HERE.

I suggest you don't mess around with boot.img The image you are talking about is bootsplash image. Its better leaving it to developers. If you don't edit it properly, your phone will end up hard bricking. You won't be able to turn on your phone. Replacing mother board will be your last choice.

seriously? hard brick? not even download mode?

[BOOT ANIMATION] Particles Portal

This is my latest android boot animation.
There are two versions.
One with intro and loop
One with the whole animation in loop
Tell which one you like more.
Files can be found here
Hope you like it. If so, use thank button or donation (I'll appreciate it. LOL)
Both look similar but will go for the second one cheers mate
PS - can i just flash this via CWM?
They are the same. I couldn't decide if I liked the whole animation keep looping or just the final part with the Android text
as a loop

Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
i don't use miui, but i guess zip file goes to system/media
browse your system folder and search for bootanimation.zip
there put the new file

Thanks for the good time
Miui can change boot screens through the theme Chooser without having to use root explorer but I think it uses mtz files. Do you mind if I ask if anyone can make a miui version of your boot?

You can try deleting the bootanimation.zip in /system/media
Or adding this line inside the build.prop:
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1

They are talking about splash screen "LG" and not boot animation..
Anyway, I think the splachscreen is useful in e-recovery. As it only works at the LG Logo and not in boot animation. That means if deleted/removed it will enter in boot animation already. Atleast for what I understand..
I believe It's inside the kernel (zimage).
i actually want to change the splash to sth else lol =P

[Boot Animation]Beats Boot Animation

Beats boot animation for Galaxy Mini.
Rename the file to bootanimation.zip and put custom boot animation in final folder.
Once you are done replace the zip with the one in /system/media and you are done.
Hit thanks button if you liked it.

You have to replace the original boot animation in /system/media folder with root explorer or any similar app. Then sd card does not matter you can change it or remove it.

I would recommend you to switch to a new rom such as cyanogenmod or if you
want rom based on stock rom you can try minimodx because changing boot animation in stock roms can cause bootloop

Nope that probably won't work cause the Ace's screen is bigger. If you want to use them, you have to resize.

Nah, you just need an image editor to edit the size (240x320) and to change the txt file. Don't test the new boot anim in your device. You can find Boot animation Factory here, in xda, just search for it.
With that, you can also preview the boot anim in your pc ;D
This night I'll upload some geek and sexy boot animations

Testing boot animations

Is there any way to test and tweak boot animations without loading onto phone? I don't have the SDK, but would that have a module for this? Or...?

Other way around. I build the animations, but it's a pain to load and test on phone. Looking for desktop testing.
