The way to learn is to search. Execute the RUU on the PC and leave the opening screen open. Then go to the %TEMP% directory and search for a file named ROM.zip. That is the file you are looking for. Copy this to our SD card and rename it PG32IMG.zip and then reboot into the bootloader and it will begin installing.
If you need more information search because there is plenty of posts that will give you more information.

Are you S-Off with Revolutionary? If so and you are trying to run the 3.11.405.x RUU, then Revolutionary is preventing the RUU from overwriting the HBOOT.

Well the RUU has changed your recovery back to stock, so you need to reflash your custom recovery. After you have your custom recovery back, just flash a custom ROM and you will be good to go.

S-Off Revolutionary will not be able to flash any Sense 3.0 RUU that because they all require that HBOOT 2.0x be present to boot, which Revolutionary is preventing.
You can use the XDA Kitchen to take the RUU ROM.zip and change it into a flashable custom ROM, but for the 3.09.415 RUU you need to modify and recompile the boot.img file to get it to run on Revolutionary HBOOT like I did for the 3.08.405/3.11.405 stock rooted ROMs.
You could try taking the boot.img file from one of those ROMs and try it with your 3.09.415 RUU. After you flash the RUU, reboot into FASTBOOT USB mode and flash the boot.img file and then it should boot.

You have posted a general question in the Developement forum. Anyway, it's not possible.
look at the bright side
I, too, mistakingly upgrade to 2.30.405.1. Looking forward to a way to be downgraded and S-off.
At the mean time, however, I made myself enjoin using better FM-Radio signal and much better image quality from camera in 2.30.405.1.
Note: my previous built was Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.12.405.7
it is possible to flash another RUU ROM using goldcard on a phone that comes with 2.30.405.1 ?

No. You can't go 'backwards' with a Goldcard, just flash RUUs from different regions. If that were possible to do, then everyone on 2.30.405.1 would be able to downgrade and root easily and there wouldn't be any problems with it.
You have to flash the 2.12 Rom.zip via sd (gold) but change the 2.12 version number in the android-text to 2.30...worked for me...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that will only work if you have S-OFF because by modifying the contents of the android-text file in the PG32IMG.zip file will invalidate the HTC signature and the HBOOT loader will fail trying to flash it an unsigned file.

I think that must be true, otherwise everyone would be doing it to get S-OFF!

Not necessarily, it depends on the ROM you're currently running. For the most part you can use a gold card to flash an RUU that's the same version or newer than what you're running currently, which is useful to get a ROM that doesn't have the exploit patched that AlphaRevX uses. Some carrier's ROMs can't be flashed at all, no matter what, gold card or not. For example the latest Verizon Wireless ROM is completely locked down and can't be flashed/rooted/S-OFF'd without using an XTC Clip. Other carriers are better about leaving the ROM's alone. All you can do is try and see what happens.

Even with a goldcard, if you are S-ON and you modify the PG32IMG.zip by editting the android-info.txt file to change the version, you no longer have a HTC signature on the zip file and it will not flash. With S-ON you will not be able to flash a ROM that has a version number less than 2.30.xxx.x
Then have anyone known what "ROM that has a version number greater than or equal to 2.30.xxx.x" and can be S-off by "Alpharevx".
I also tried the same, even with a gold card. I think it worked for him because he is already S-OFF.
There is nothing we can do until a temp root method is found for 2.30. Or we could use an xtc clip to gain s-off.
if i use the clipm then will it be s-offed forever? or if u update hboot, then its fall back to s-on?

The XTC clip will give you permanent S-OFF. Flashing a new HBOOT will not affect the S-OFF setting.

Take a stock RUU and extract the ROM.zip. Then in the ROM.zip extract the reocovery.img file and use that to create a PG32IMG.zip like you used for CWM and flash that or you could boot into FASTBOOT mode and simply flash it using
FASTBOOT flash recovery[path to recovery.img]
Depending on how you have S-Off, you still mayn't be able to runthe OTA. If your HBOOT show AlphaRevx/Revolutionary on the first line, then the OTA will fail because you have a modified HBOOT. If you have been S-Off using the XTC clip then you should be good to go.

Ok, you have permanent S-Off so you are good to go. Search this site for the answers. Since you installed CWM using a PG32IMG.zip, just copy that file and replace the recovery.img file with the one you extract from the ROM.zip.
Reading and researching on your own will benefit you in the long run.
Hi, you have right about reading....I find out how to extravt the rom.zip with the help of the process monitor.....I have now the recovery_signed.img.But i found nohting in how to create that pg32img.zip.I imagine that the way to create this is to zip the recovery_signed.img with the android-info.txt and name it PG32IMG.zip.Is this the right way or it is something else??

There is another way... Reboot Into bootloader and enter fastboot... Then get htc's fastboot binary and put it in the same place as your recovery... Connect your phone... Open terminal on your computer and cd to the location of the image then type
./fastboot flash recovery.img (name of image).img
Please verify the syntax just in case

Yes the procedure is the same to replace CWM with a stock HTC recovery if you are S-Off. If you have a HBOOT that is unlockable, then it needs to be in an unlocked state to flash to the recovery partition.
Firstly, thank you very very much,I didnt use to unlocked method. My cell phone is s off,so what ever happens(for example I will use ics,my hboot versiyon will change maybe) even after 2 two years later,if I decide to return stock recovery I will do same things, same transactions Did I understand correctly?I say one more time I use s off method

Since you used the Revolutionary S-OFF method, your HBOOT will not change. It protects itself from being over-written so you won't lose S-OFF. Because of that, even if you replace ClockworkMod recovery with the stock recovery, you will not be able to apply an OTA. It will fail and you will not be able to boot your phone until you replace flash ClockworkMod back to your phone and install a custom ROM.
If you really want to remove Revolutionary S-OFF and return to stock so you can receive and apply an OTA there is a thread that documents the procedure you need to follow in this forum.
Bottom line: If you are S-OFF with Revolutionary, do not try to apply an OTA period.
Thank you

According to your other post, you have permanent S-OFF, so you will not be able to return back to S-ON.
However, if you follow the instructions in your other post and install CWM recovery, then yes, you would need to replace CWM recovery with the stock HTC recovery before you could apply the upcoming ICS OTA.

Hi fellow xda members,
I would like to install the new ICS roms to my nexus one but I can't find any CLEAR information on how to use/install blackrose.
Is there anyone that would like to post a full howto?
My nexus one is rooted and I think my bootloader is unlocked (I did fastboot oem unlock), I've been using roms etc
In the requirements it says that another HBOOT then mine is required, so to start with, how do I install a new HBOOT, do I just flash the hboot zip that can be found in the blackrose thread via recovery?
Thank you
All the answers are in the thread--read thru it--I did numerous times and finally got it figured out--
also--you don't need blackrose to try out ICS--see threads OP page

There is a step by step in the blackrose thread.
Apply custom BlackRose
Auto(recommand)
Resize partition
http://youtu.be/b_D3shjrNq8
Manual(if you use auto method, no need to read)
1.fastboot flash hboot [CUSTOM BLACKROSE BINARY]
2.fastboot reboot-bootloader
If you will change partition layout
1.fastboot flash hboot [CUSTOM BLACKROSE BINARY]
2.fastboot reboot-bootloader
3.fastboot erase cache
4.fastboot oem brcmd brec
5.full wipe
6.update rom
7.reboot
Click to collapse
If you are wanting to load the full version of ICS, the [CUSTOM BLACKROSE BINARY] can be found in the N1 ICS development thread under the HBOOT link.
Like rugmankc said, reading through things will help a ton. Search is your friend
thanks for the answers I figured it out, really nothing special..
1) make sure all requirements are met ( for the hboot just download the hboot in the blackrose thread and flash from recovery) then also usb debugging must be on
2) double click on blackrose.exe and chose install
3) voila it was that easy smh
...
then for ics rom do the commands in texasice's thread
was checking back, did you get it
you don't flash zip from recovery
dl the zip blackrose_111217_2.zip to pc and extract to that same folder you dl'd to
then open the extracted folder and click on the blackrose.exe icon, it will open the BR command window and prompt you thru the installation. then on your bootloader screen you will see s-off and the new BR hboot date and 5017 hboot.
To flash ICS, you can use zip or image method as spelled out in thread. But you need to resize the new hboot to ICS 220-16-200. You can do that by using splhexeditor here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28338566/SPLHexEditor_111006.exe
or use the BR command window that you opened when you installed BR and view video bass posted
or dl zip from ICS thread and extract it and fastboot as per OP page on ICS thread
also take not of the binary folder in your extracted BR folder it has stock hboot to go back to if you want
if using BR to apply hboot, you need to rename them to hboot_brcust.nb0 and put in binary folder mentioned above. That is were BR looks for them to apply
Sorry for all the misc comments, but it is/was complicated to me and took like I recommended 5-6 complete reads of threads and some exact questions after a lot of research. But, I am very hands on and not good at written instructions.
I now use splhexeditor and fastboot to apply new versions of BR and to flash ICS versions. Just need to get the modified hexeditor hboot saved and to your tools folder or wherever you fastboot from.
Sometimes I wish I didnt have Mac... is there a simple way like how "r1enh" explained, for OSX? Or am I gonna have to find a Pc somewhere?!
somewhere in Blackrose thread there are some instructions for Mac users--none of it easy "or everyone would do it"
People seem to forget they're on a developer site. A site where developers hack away at devices and software. Of course it's not noob friendly. If you're a noob, flashing hboot's and rom's is not the place you should be getting your feet wet.
Just my 2 cents.

Changing the CID is not going to get you around the model id error. You need to be S-OFF and then you can manually edit the andrioid-info.txt and add the modelid to it.

Which RUU are you attempting to run? What you need to do is extract the ROM.zip from the RUU and then in the ROM.zip there is a file called android-info.txt that you need to edit and add a modelid= line to it for your modelid. Then you copy that ROM.zip file to your SD card and rename it PG32IMG.zip and reboot into bootloader and it will attempt to load the rom image.
Get into FASTBOOT USB mode and enter the following command and post the results:
fastboot getvar all
That will give us a true picture of what phone model you have and what you need to do.
Of course it is a risk. Especially considering even after you were told its the modelid that needed to be changed and you are still going on about the Cid.
i need to know what the risk if i add cid to rom.zip?

The risk is that you are not understanding what you are being told to do. You will not solve our problem by changing the CID value.
The risk of modifying a ROM.zip with S-Off is that you cold flash one that is not compatible with your phone, thus the reason you were asked to run the Fastboot getvar all command so that we can help ou determine the correct RUU you should be working with.

Ok now we are getting some information that is useful. You will definitely need to modify the android-info.txt and add the line modelid=PG3212000 to the top of the file if you want to flash an official PG32IMG.zip file extracted from an RUU.
If you are S-Off why don't you install one of the stock, rooted ROMs in the Dvelpment section that were created from the WWE RUUs?
There is one based on WWE 2.30.405.1 which is the original GB/Sense 2.1 RUU and there is one based on WWE 3.08.405.3 which is the latest GB/Sense 3.0 RUU. I have installed and ran both of these on my Canadian IncS.

What error did you get? After you edited the android-info.txt file, did you then copy the ROM.zip file to your SD card and rename it PG32IMG.zip?
this not error just when checking the rom in bootloader didnt install anything

OK, in order to help us solve this, we need for you to post the contents of the android-info.txt that you modified and also from FASTBOOT USB mode, please run the following command and post the results:
fastboot getvar all
This will give us all of the details we need to assist you in getting straightened out.
Once again, since you are S-OFF you could simply go to the Development section and get the stock, rooted version of 3.08.405.3/Sense 3.0 ROM that you can simply flash from CWM Recovery and be done with it. You would still have S-OFF and root.
Hi Guys, have a nice day.
I want to learn something about s-off to s-on. Is this possible ? A device which s-off and then make it s-on ? If Possible how could we do this ?
Thank for helps now

Yes you can S-ON after you S-OFF with revone: fastboot oem writesecureflag 3 to S-ON again
Yeah, just make sure you have a stock hboot before doing so. You may want to also lock the bootloader first.

A better question is why would go from s-off to s-on anyway? You might mess up later and wish you still had s-off so you could fix it.

With S-OFF, yes.
If you have an unsigned hboot and then S-On, you'll probably brick your phone.
S-on: you only can flash roms and kernels
S-off: you will also be able to update hboot, and firmware, flash splashscreens and remove red warning text from splashscreen and change radio

You can still flash radios with S-on. Agree with the others, you'll regret going S-on unless you need to return the phone under warranty.

get a stock ROM(insertcoin android revolution, etc.), open up the zip and extract the boot.img from the zip file, put it in your Android SDK folder (probably C:/Android), then boot into bootloader, connect USB and get into fastboot mode, and fastboot flash boot boot.img in a command prompt from your Android SDK folder. Backup with your custom recovery and you MIGHT need to wipe data and reinstall ROM (most probably not). You'll know you need to wipe data if you get a bootloop after flashing the Stock Kernel. Just backup before, that's a great rule of thumb
