UGGGHHHH!!!

Help so have been trying to teach myself how to theme a rom and can edit PNG files all night long but seem to be spending all my time with simple color changes so any body know how I can just edit the color XML files so it changes all the default colors at once or am I doing it right and have to change all the PNG files???? I'm new to eclipse so would need to know what plug in I need to do this if at all possible thanks

Yes you have to manually change all the images from what I've read and then you have to do the .9 png trick to edit them not really familiar with editing the .9 images so cant say much on that but im not aware of using xml to change the actual images it only applys directions for the images.

CLOSE PLEASE i created a new thread cuz i need more room for screenshots

Included:
- transparent glass topbar(not true trans it matches the apps main bg & is black on certain launchers homescreens(live wallpapers work on homescreens) but still works with the trans apps i included)
- almost all topbar icons are red w/glass bg
- trans glass phone.apk, contacts.apk, & dialer.apk(still got a few blue items for now will look the same but red, favz & logs not fully trans need help)
- my custom red version of jarvis swype keyboard
- glass calendar, calculator (blue for now will look the same but red)
- transparent gmail, & trans black/red messaging, black transparent FB , trans xda of course, & trans glass pandora)
- please download & tell me what you think so far

Have you been trying to theme twframeworks.apk as well as frameworks.apk I had to change the images in both apks.

i have no idea what to do chattin with dreamsforgoten right now to hopefully figure this out

i will be posting different colors as of now all i will have is the transparent taskbar with glass icons cuz thats all i have to work with
Here we go, this is a combo of two of jstine671 addons so all the credit goes to him for the images & of course dreamsforgotten for his help on how to move the files

Can do, but not till later I'm @ work right now but @least I can take the screenies but can't upload em till I get off work but if u click the link on post 7 its to the theme I used the red-framework addon his screen shots are what this will look like except mine has the transparent glass topbar all mine themes is the top bar & its icons, menu button pop ups, check boxes, loading animations, & a few more things that I haven't found yet so jus look for these items on the link or just download it already lol

Not the launcher, twframework-res. It controls the status bar pulldown and various other things.

If you have no tw anything then you are either not running a samsung build or you are running AOSP, in which case you are the first and should enlighten us as to how you managed to remove the entire twframework

I'm running acs frozen 1.2 I'm sure it still has a few minor TW items but no twlauncher & no twframework was in the file I modified it prob is in my phone geez I'm new to themeing as of today I don't kno everything lol

Awesome job! Been waiting for a transparent taskbar since I switched from bonzai. The theme is a little too busy for my taste, but great groundwork for things to come.

Ya I kno I'm eventually gonna make it into a whole theme using matted reds as the base pending they don't care & hopefully I can get someone to help me get the animated pulldown bg workin on froyo since that's where it started & the only way the epic can have it is on gb

Twframeworks.apk is just the main parts for the phone nothing to do with the launcher. Every rom except AOSP and MIUI have it, its in the frameworks folder next to frameworks.apk. It baisically has wat you need to mdify anything you notification screen can do. Like the call options when ur on the home screen o music player when ur on the homescreen, aswell as the main tabs like wifi, bluetooth, gps and 4g option on the top. Well wat you need here is pass wat u modified in frameworks.apk and jut copy all the images that have the same name and xml in the drawable folder.

[Q] Theme Editing

Hello, I bought Sonny Sekhon's Lucid Theme from the market and it's almost perfect for me. EXCEPT the pull down notification. How do I edit it so that it would look like the pulldown from minimalbread? It's the only thing I want to change from Lucid.
I also got the MellowYellow theme but I want to change it so that the horizontal dividers in menu are transparent or black (as long as I dont see them. ) Please see attached screenshot.

You would have to decompile the .apk then recompile it.
MIUI themes are much easier to mod

Nah you could edit it without d compiling with winzip. Just open the apk in winzip and swap the files out.

Those lines are more than likely .9 PNG files. In my experience swapping files in winzip causes errors, but I guess that works too

Help Theming Verizon Messages App

Hey guys. I would like to theme the Verizon Messages app that you can download from the playstore. I have the apk on my computer and used 7zip to unzip it. I have no idea where to start to get it themed. I would like to them it like the dark aosp 4.2 messaging app. I know my way around gimp fairly well just need some direction as to where the png files are and what all I might have to do. Thanks.

Ok. I think I found the png's. Looks like quite a lot to theme, but I am going to start pecking away at it.

You should probably use apktool to decompile the app, so then you could edit the nine patch images properly. Other than you should be fine. Good luck man!
Also if you want to invert it you definitely have to use apktool to open up the colors.XML and styles.XML properly. If you open up the app using 7zip the XML files won't decompile correctly. Just some advice from an experienced themer. Once again good luck dude!

Transparent MotoMms

Here is my themed transparent MotoMms. You must be rooted and have an unlocked bootloader to flash the zip. I would suggest going into your system/app folder and saving your MotoMms and the odex file some place else before flashing mine, just in case. Once that is done then make sure you are in WP bypass mode and flash away, enjoy! You can also go into your system/app folder and change the MotoMms.apk to MotoMms.apk.bak and the leave the odex file alone, then flash the zip once in WR bypass mode, let me know if you have any problems sometimes it takes a few tries.
**Note** some of my text is blue, yours will be all white!
This is the original odex version of MotoMms.apk, so if your not running that specific Mms then it may do nothing for you.

Any chance you could list what files you modified to get the clear background? I'd like the default MMS, but with a dark holo theme. I've decompiled the apk, but I'm not sure what file is the background.png. Also, which xml controls the text color? I appreciate your help!

Sure, I am taking a final right now, but will go into more detail later,,,right off the bat you have to change some png's in res/drawable xhdpi, some xml's in res/layout dealing with android background to a clear hex code like #00000000, and finally in res/ values, change the coding to let the wallpaper see through. Hope this helps, PM me and I can go into more detail. All of the changes can be made the same way to make it look inverted if you like.

Any chance we could get this as an exposed framework module? My droid maxx doesn't have an unlocked bootloader.

I am really enjoying your work! I hate to pester but do you think you could give us choices of icon color too? i'm not a fan of the dark blue SMS icon we get stuck with when using either this or the blacked out one...it would be nice to have a few downloads that use a different icon color but keep the transparency or darkness....just a thought. none the less, great work and we all appreciate what you've done for us and our phones

I am restoring my phone now, once i re root it and get all my apps downloaded i'll try to upload the mms apk.
I appreciate all your work and efforts here bud. I really do, i love what you're doing.
Do you have a blacked out version with white texts?
